Character Templates

Things You Need to Know Before Applying for a New Character:

These are the templates you should use when creating a new character. Not adhering to the appropriate template will result in immediate rejection of your character application.

When applying to a new character, use the template for the highest skill tier your character has (beginner, intermediate, expert or master). For example: if your character is a beginner bender, but an expert at hand-to-hand/martial arts, you will apply for an Expert-Tier character/application rather than a Beginner-Tier.

About the Tiers: Each Tier of skill is relevant to the abilities of the character. They are as follows:

Beginner: A character that's a Beginner in a skill (or skills) has only just learned the basics of that ability, or sometimes even still may be learning the basics.
Intermediate: A character with an Intermediate skill (or skills) is quite familiar in it, and knows the basics well and is beginning to learn more advanced techniques.
Expert: A character that's expert in a skill (or skills) has mastered the basics, and some more advanced skills in an art of fighting or otherwise. They aren't nearly perfect, but they can hold their own in any test of their abilities.
Master: This Character has Mastered one or more skills. They have mastered many known techniques and sub-elements of a discipline of bending, or most all moves in a style of martial arts, etc. Nobody is perfect, but a master is as close as it gets, and some have even invented their own style or moves in their mastered abilities.

Age requirements: These are not for you, personally, but your character. These requirements are listed in the Age section of each template, and is only a recommended minimum age. Failure to meet these age requirements will result in harsh judgement from staff members during the Approval process.

Remember to list your character's skills AND their tiers for each skill in the TRAINING section of your application. Example:

Training: Earthbending [Expert], Hand-to-Hand [Intermediate], Spears [Beginner], Swords [Master] (This particular list of skills would be under a Master Application since its highest tier of skill is Master)

Please start with an Intermediate-Tier, of Beginner-Tier character if you are new to Role Playing, and please do not apply for a Master-Tier character if you are not familiar with New Chapters, or do not plan on being here for a longer length of time.

Most of the time, we will require Beginner-Tier, and Intermediate-Tier apps to receive two Approvals, Experts require three, and Masters require Four (unanimous) approvals. This is subject to change dependent on site/staff activity. Less active staff=less required Approvals.
As of 21 September 2013, the amount of current active staff members is 1 (Zulera), and so most if not all apps only need one approval.

Beginner-Tier Template:

This is the template you will use if applying for a character who's a Beginner or less in all their abilities.

Full Name: What is your character's first and last name? Any nicknames? (Your forum name must be the same as your character's name/nickname. Stick to Asian names, please. No Jacks, Johns or Richards etc.)
Gender:

Element: Fire, Air, Water, Earth - Non-benders choose a weapon, or nothing.
Birthplace: Where was your character born?
Position: What position does your character have? (for special positions contact moderator+)
Training: (List bending/weapon tier(s) here)

Personality: (60 words minimum) How does your character act? What does (s)he like and dislike? What are some defining characteristics of him/her?

Abilities: (60 words minimum) What is your character good at? Any weaknesses? Please don't over power yourself. Are you a bender, warrior or civilian. You don't have to be someone who fights, you can simply be a cook in a restaurant in some village or city. Use your imagination.

Appearance:
Height: Exact measurement please, in feet and/or centimeters. (I.E. 5'11" // 152.4 cm)
Weight: Either in exact measurements or general description. (I.E. Skinny, fat, muscular, etc.)
Eyes: What color(s) are the character's eye(s)
Hair: What color(s) is the character's hair?
Skin: What is the character's skin color?

(90 minimum words) Give a general description of the character here, at least 90 words long. Describe their hair style, body shape and condition, distinguishing marks or characteristics, and their clothing. Please be as detailed as you can. You may provide an image IN ADDITION to the description.

Weaponry & Other Gear: (Omit this field if no such items)

Outside of clothing, what kinds of gear does the character carry around with them? This can be a sword, spear, armor, whatever. Please use the code below to add more items. Please take care to make sure it's a range of items that someone with the character in question's conditioning could handle. (I.E. A five year old probably wouldn't be carrying around a dozen swords and wearing a suit of armor everywhere.) This does not need to be done on every last item. Just the things that somehow effect the character's abilities, or give them a severe edge in combat. Try to be descriptive!
