HI. Never role played before

Hello people of this website! this seems like it would be fun, but i have never role played. can someone please explain to me the basics.

So, let's see, explaining RPing...

Ok, so, basically, you'd start be creating a character app, depending upon which level of bending-skill you want, it may need to be extremely or lightly detailed.

Once your app is done, you'll wait for approval from the admins, IE Zulera, Liao, Loki, or Nokomi, or Mods IE Tarek, or Daichi.

Role-Playing itself is simple, even easier than writing an app, it's, basically, writing out what your character is doing, how they feel, what they're thinking, maybe, if you want to, details about their surroundings and/or actions/reactions with NPCs(Non-Playable Character).

You can also decide to control Non-Playable Characters during your post, such as Tain in this post above.

Most Role-Players(RPers) skills vary from person to person, most starting RPers start off with one paragraph starters, but over time develop into multi-paragraph machines.

Other than the suggestion to read the Rules and Terms, I don't think there's anything I can add. Please feel free to ask for more detail-oriented bits.

Mei explained things quite nicely but there are some things I would like to add, especially since this is your first time role-playing.

First off, Role Playing is really fun, and although there are a couple of rules to remember, they are pretty simple and straightforward.

One of the most important things to know concerning RP’ing is the concept of god modding. God modding is essentially controlling another writer's character in any way. Examples:

1. Assuming that another writer’s character is performing any action, without the writer specifying that his/her character is doing it.

2. If attacking another character, assuming that your character’s attack hits, injures or kills another character. In essence, you can throw an attack, but the defending character decides whether it hits or not.

3. Actually taking control of another character (simple as that)

Another important thing to understand is the concept of being overpowered. This occurs when your character has perfect skills. Essentially, RP characters shouldn’t be perfect, they cannot block or avoid every attack, and they cannot do unbelievable things. Overpowered characters are unrealistic and unfair.

Those are some important concepts to grasp for new RP’ers, but otherwise, have fun with it, be creative, make new friends, and get involved! Hello New Role Player!

You'll soon find out that role playing is fun. This site was the first Rping site i joined and after a years absence I came back after gaining expierence in the field. Its not that hard really. As Mei and Tarek said, everyone here can help you. Even I have to ask for some peoples opinions as i am sure some others do (sometimes) as well. The whole thing is kinda hard to explain but once you get the basics, you'll get the hang of it and eventually become better or more comfortable with it that you'll be able to write longer posts or come up with other interesting characters.

If you ever have a question you can Pm one of the Mod's or Admin's or you cam PM me. I play the Southern Water Tribe Chieftess and a Fire bending Head servant to current Fire lord Shula.
