Pyro Empty
PostSubject: Pyro   Pyro EmptySat Aug 03, 2013 7:42 pm

Full Name: Bender Pyro (Yes, his first name is Bender)
Gender: Male
Age: 19
Element: Fire
Birthplace: Fire Nation Colonies
Position: Street Performer
Training: Firebending [Expert], Chi Blocking [Expert]

Personality: Bender Pyro is a selfish and insensitive Firebender who usually cares about no one except himself. He does not have one slight grain of sympathy for anyone on Earth, except for turtles, who Bender sees things in common with himself. He is also a hugely foul mouth, often saying a lot of bad words in public, and he can be very rude and mean to people. Bender is a kleptomaniac, and can often be seen looting and thieving from his friends, especially a particular Beifong, who is Bender's favorite thieving victim because her and her family are rich.

Pyro often exhibits sociopathic behavior, is a pathological liar and rarely shows any empathy. He has a mostly voluntary morality and constantly steals, ranging from the petty theft of wallets to crimes such as kidnapping. He also once stole a woman's earrings while giving her a hug. Bender drinks heavily because it aids him in combat. Although, this is an excuse. His behavior would be classified as 'alcoholic' but he needs alcohol to stay sober, and has drunk to excess and not become drunk. It is considered a mental and physiological disorder that he didn’t discover until his early teens. Although the consumption of alcohol is necessitated by Bender's disorder, he apparently drinks far more than he needs for energy. His excessive drinking contributes to his characterization as an alcoholic (His time with the Air Nomads revealed that Pyro can function equally well on herbal tea instead of alcohol, also contributing to the perception of Bender's alcohol use as a vice). If he is deprived of alcohol, for instance during periods of depression, he ceases to function properly and shows signs similar to drunkenness, including developing a 5 o'clock shadow. Bender neither requires alcohol nor physically suffers from its absence other than his attitude.

The 18 year old also possesses an incredible amount of patience. Despite a long wait on a voyage, it is implied that Bender does not take naps, apparently enjoying his own company so much that he does not consider it necessary. Despite his often immoral attitude, he does not lack a soft side; he can feel guilt and remorse over his actions if he goes too far (even by his own standards), indicating that he is not as selfish or unkind as he appears to be.

Abilities: Pyro is an expert at Bending Fire, and stealing. He also practices magic (like pulling rabbits out of hats) and can even speak penguin. Pyro refuses to share how he performed his tricks, as he believes magicians should never reveal such secrets. Having a warrior body, he is also much more durable than a civilian.  Bender has a love for cooking. However, because he has no sense of taste, his food comes out terrible. As time went on, it seems his cooking skills have improved a bit. He managed to make a cake for a friend and manage to create an edible meal of barbeque using only his Firebending.

Being a heavy drinker; Pyro has become a master in the Drunken Fist style of fighting. It can not be learned, taught, nor refined through training and practice. Drunken Fist fighters are not simply drunk: they become human powerhouses who'll strike unpredictably with an explosive fury and without any second thoughts about their actions. Once drunk, the user will lose their ability to know friend from foe and attack whomever is in their vicinity. These techniques are highly acrobatic and skilled and require a great degree of balance and coordination. The postures are created by momentum and weight of the body, and imitation is generally through staggering and certain type of fluidity in the movements. Even though the style seems irregular and off balance it takes the utmost balance to be successful. To excel one must be relaxed and flow with ease from technique to technique. Swaying, drinking, and falling are used to throw off opponents. When the opponent thinks the drunken boxer is vulnerable he is usually well balanced and ready to strike. When swigging a wine cup the practitioner is really practicing grabbing and striking techniques. The waist movements trick opponents into attacking, sometimes even falling over. Falls can be used to avoid attacks but also to pin attackers to the ground while vital points are targeted.

Pyro is also an expert in blocking the chi his opponents. Blocking someone's chi renders the victim's muscles useless and temporarily disables a bender's abilities. Chi blocking is mainly used by non-benders as a way of self-defense or even an attack form, yet the young Firebender has nearly mastered the art. Chi blocking is utilized by hitting pressure points with quick jabs and punches, and must be done rapidly, often giving little time for the recipient to react. Bender can hit those pressure points with relatively light jabs using his fingers and knuckles. Even people wearing strong, but not necessarily heavy, armor are not spared from its effects. Any fingers can be used, such as when Ty Lee disabled Katara with her thumb. Bender could also use her feet to disable others' chi flow with a swing of his foot. Although a very useful method of fighting, chi blocking is most effective against an opponent not expecting such a light blow to be so devastating. It is less effective against someone who either knows chi blocking or who has battled a chi blocker in the past.

Appearance:
Height: 5'10" ft.
Weight: 178 lbs
Eyes: Green
Hair: Black
Skin: Surprisingly Pale

Bender Pyro has short black hair like a Firebender and the green eyes of an Earthbender. His hair style also separates him from others in the Fire Nation, as the front concentrates the spikes on the right side of his head as if windswept, and the back is smoother and more flaky. Pyro has pale skin, despite his time in the sun. This is mainly due to the medical condition he has developed that requires the need for alcohol to maintain. However, this condition is not fatal. His usual attire for rest and relaxation consists of a black T-shirt and some red sweat pants that resemble regular Fire Nation clothes for commoners in the street to wear. He always carries a flask with the most powerful alcohol that the Fire Nation has to offer.

But whenever he is in the streets, he wears an entire outfit of fire-resistant material that can withstand the heat of most fire-based attacks. The fire resistant outfit is a pitch-black outfit complete with long sleeves, a hood and loose fitting pants for more flexibility. However, it is made from something much more durable than leather, a fire resistant material. A giant ass blazing inferno would be enough to burn through it. It is plainly adorned with a black zipper and seemingly pointless black beaded pull strings for the hood that form a semi-circle in the middle. His pants were different than what he normally wears, looking more casual, and loose. He also did not tuck the legs of his pants into his boots like the other members of the fire nation did, though Pyro's "boots" more resembled black versions of his street shoes, and may not have been knee-high like the other members' of the Fire Nation.

Description:

History: Bender Pyro was born to a family of magicians that were a blend of Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom citizens that were raised in the circus. He spent his early childhood traveling with his troupe through the Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom. As a natural performer, Pyro began to tour with the Fire Days Festival, performing for Fire Nation citizens in every corner of the world. His specialties included juggling fire and turning fireballs into doves. This was surprising due to the fact that he was terrible at anything else other than getting himself into trouble.

To punish him for getting into fights on a daily basis; his alcoholic father hired a chi blocking clown to knock the bending out of the child every time he misbehaved. Soon, Pyro adapted to this style of fighting and soon learned to do it as well. He one day learned how to block chi and soon defeated the bully hired by his father. He soon ran away from the circus and went to live on his own. Making money by performing in the streets of the Fire Nation. This kind of living was much more difficult than he thought it would be. This is when he resorted to becoming a thief. He accomplished this mainly by distracting somebody with a magic trick and then picking their pocket.

The law enforcement caught Pyro during one of his schemes and forced him to go to the Fire Nation school that was described as the center of learning located in the eastern Fire Nation. This upper-class school was aimed at instilling loyalty to the Fire Nation within its students, often through manipulation or strict discipline. The teachers here maintained extreme order and were very focused on creating perfect Fire Nation citizens. Students in this school started their education as soon as they began Firebending, or, for non-benders, as soon as they began walking. The curriculum included etiquette, Fire Nation history, history of warfare, music, and Firebending classes. The students were given recess during school in the main courtyard. The courtyard was a plain concrete area with a statue of Fire Lord Ozai in the center. It required a strict uniform, consisting of brown pants or a skirt and shirt, a black and red vest, and a red sash marked with the school's logo.

If there was a student with a bad conduct, he or she could be sent to "reform school", otherwise known as the coal mines, at the discretion of the Headmaster. Bender received many close calls on this happening as he mouthed off and got caught drinking alcohol on multiple occasions. One day he had crossed the line by pulling a prank that resulted in white paint and pig-chicken feathers pouring on the Headmaster. Pyro was then sent to the coal mines at the age of fifteen. This caused him to grow even more rebellious as he challenged authority on a daily basis and received a beating.

Ever since he was a child, he trained on a daily basis punching the iron wood trees to make his fists tough and durable enough to embrace his heritage as an Earth Kingdom commoner. He soon grew old enough to be released from the coal mines and returned to street performing and becoming a master thief.
