Genesis, better known as Anya, is seemingly mellow on the outside. Once you dig deep though, she is a hard-headed lass who will go to the utmost limits to get under your skin when she wants something to go her way. Many say that she is so laid back that she's almost horizontal, but this only applies if she isn't angry. When Anya is angry, it's like getting a bag of wet cats thrown at your face. She'll ravage you, leaving you with a string of obscenities and a torn down conscious. Many who know Anya just know that it's better to let things go her way.
Anya is a bit of a control freak, but she tends to hide it until she meets someone who's worth dominating. She is very particular about who she hangs out, finding that anyone other than her sensei Soran quite dull and monotonous. She craves unique personality, and cannot stand to be around the average joe. Anya is considered by many to be a genius, though she keeps that hidden as well. This is due to the fact that she despite her dominating personality, Anya is very against insulting people, finding that people these days need to focus more on finding their inner peace.
Although she does not uphold the general airbender traditions, Anya is very spiritual. She meditates twice a day, finding that she is able to control her anger through her spirituality. Anya indulges in the occasional pharmaceutical with her teacher, claiming that it strengthens the bond with your spiritual self. She often claims that she's psychic and able to see visions, but many believe this to be a side effect of the marijuana and dismiss it.
Overall, Anya is a kind and virtuous woman who is young at heart but has an old soul. She is adventurous and independent, and is never afraid to try something new. Ever since she was little Anya has been a charismatic schmoozer, often able to change one's ideas in a one sitting. She knows when to exhume caution in doing this though; her uber spiritual parents often chided her for being an adept persuader. Although she is picky about who she associates with, Anya rarely meets a stranger and always starts off a conversation with a compliment.

Anya is an adept airbender, having comprehended the full basics of airbending in only a short amount of time. This is partially due to her training, and also to her sheer dedication. Anya's bending is tailored to her, almost as if it has a personality/mind of its own. She has only just recently began to dabble on more expert techniques, trying her hardest to mimic her sensei's form of sharp airbending. Anya finds that due to her mellow personality her air is much slower, something that many opponents take advantage of. Nevertheless, Anya is able to hold her ground.
Anya's attacks are mostly based on her soft, elegant movements. She moves with the air, casting a gust of wind towards her opponent at a moment's notice. Anya is one to defend herself rather than outright attacking. She prefers to let opponents wear themselves out before she makes her move. The airbender finds it difficult to incorporate weapons into her bending, preferring her body itself being the weapon.
Only recently Anya grasped the bare basics of chi-blocking, though she tends to use it more offensively than her bending. She uses her agility learned from airbending to get closer to her enemy. Anya manipulates the air currents to keep her enemy from escaping. When she's ability to strike her opponent, Anya compares it to a snake striking its prey: fast, swift, and usually repetitive until the job's done.

Anya is a stunning woman of about five foot three. Anya is usually mistaken for an age younger than she is, due to the fact that she is very nimble and delicate-looking. Anya's skin is like creamy milk; she refuses to wear makeup, claiming to want to "stay natural." Her curly hair is a delicate pink color, comparable to the blush of a newborn child. It stops just short of her small shoulders, though it is rarely seen down. Anya tends to keep her locks up in two pigtails, giving her the appearance of a young teenager. She has side bangs that fall to the right of her face that highlight her gloriously green eyes. Anya's eyes appear to be a luscious pasture green color, but at a closer look one can observe little spritzes of blue here and there.
Anya dresses very scarcely, believing that one should dress however they want to. She is normally seen in a peachy sports bra and orange skirt. Surrounding the skirt is an animal hide that attaches to a belt around her hips. She wears yellow boot-like shoes that have a small heel along with furry cuffs that go around her ankles.
Anya is covered in a variety of accessories; the most notable being a strand of colorful beads that extend from the top of her chest and continues down her body, branching out in several different wrap around bead patterns as it does so. It then circles around her hips, where several random of strings of beads continue down. She wears one large, hefty belt around the top of her hips where she can hang various pouches. Anya also wears three circular beaded necklaces, and simple silver gauges in her ears.

Not much is known about Genesis Maverick's early life. Only that she was born to a poor couple who resided in the Eastern Air Temple. They gave her away when she was young, not because they didn't want her but merely because they wished better for her. They gave her away to Meili and Nolan Takata, where Anya managed to live a nice childhood. As the story goes, as soon as they gave away Anya, they decided to flee the Eastern Air Temple in search of a better, more providing life. Anya doesn't see herself as a 'tragic case' despite all of this. Anya figured her real parent's loved her, and Meili and Nolan raised her well enough. She never felt the need or had the interest to seek out her real family, figuring that it'd be easier on everyone. Besides, she'd always considered Meili and Nolan her real parents.
Anya grew up as an only child in a very traditional and spiritual airbending family. This proved to have a major effect on her life as she grew into her teen years. Although Anya accepeted the spiritual bit of her culture, she never felt the need to go full air-acolyte-tattoo-bearing-airbender. She didn't judge anyone who did, but even her family later agreed that it just wasn't for her. Her parents often scolded her for it, and spent a large period of Anya's life trying to convert her to a full-fledged monk/nun. They eventually gave up around her early teens, and sought out an airbending trainer for Anya. Her parents figured if they couldn't have their acolyte they'd at least get their Master of airbending.
Anya began her airbending training at the age of fourteen under Soran Kanzaki, who is considered by all a master of airbending. Although they are good friends now, Anya could not stand the man when they were first introduced to each other. Eventually he grew on her though, and began to teach her the basics of airbending. They lost contact up until recently, due to Soran's involvement with the White Lotus. During their period of no contact, Anya went out on her own, trying to absorb as much information as she could.
Even as a young teenager, Anya came and went as she pleased. Her parents never tried to control her, mostly because they knew she would go ahead and do it anyway. They understood her motives; Anya was only trying to learn as much as she could about the world. By the age of twenty Anya had visited all of the nations save for the water tribes; her reasons for this were because of her lack of appropriate clothing.
Anya currently travels around, adopting the alias "Anya" merely because she prefers it over her real name. She has no romantic ties, claiming that she's met no one worthy yet. Her apprenticeship keeps her busy, though Anya hopes to one day acquire a job along with her sensei.
