Full Name: Yánjiāng Yuuta Gender: Male Age: 25 Element: Earth Birthplace: Gaoling Position: Teacher, Ex-commando Training: Earthbending [Expert], Metalbending [Expert], Swordsmanship [Intermediate], Stealth [Intermediate], Rope Fighting [Intermediate] Personality: Yuuta is a rather strange man, simply because he doesn’t fit the normal mold of a teacher; He’s intelligent, playful, and beyond all, a hater of conflict. Having worked as part of the earth country military since he was sixteen and only leaving when he was considered "unfit for service", he's seen the "glory of war" and believes that it's just a great big pile of shit told to people simply to try and get them to be happier about getting killed without a good cause. However, beyond that, his personality is...well, saying strange would be a rather understatement. He’s extremely flamboyant and camp, loving to mess with other people’s minds simply by his actions and the way he speaks. He even willingly flirts with people he knows are either in relationships or are not interested in men, whether they be straight guys or lesbians. However, when pushed back or chastised, he honestly doesn't seem to care about what people think, as if it's all some sort of act. Some of the people who’ve been on the recieving side of his manipulation believe that his personality is a fake one that he uses simply because he sees it as the easiest way to screw people over. However, that’s only partially true, as he modelled himself after what he saw would be the most fun. Besides, who’s going to think you’re a threat when you’re singing in the middle of the street and flirting with complete strangers? However, when he’s forced to put aside his normal personality, he becomes a much different person. He’s almost silent, an unnerving change from his normal chatty personality, and seems not to bat an eyelid when attacking someone, seeing it merely as something that will lead to a better future for all people involved apart from those on the receiving end. He also doesn’t appear to care about someone’s death, something which causes those few who have seen him like this to dislike this side of him and think that he can be an absolute bastard. Abilities: Yuuta is a specialist in Earth-bending, having been trained in it since he was a child. His particular form of earth bending is one that focuses more on manipulating the ground underneath someone's feet, although his projectile style is still pretty advanced (more intermediate than expert, however). This style of ground manipulation relies on spikes, pitfalls and rapid impacts rather than simply launching large objects as most earth-benders do, and was skilled enough in it that he was asked to join a specialist division of the earth kingdom military. However, whilst he's skilled with the normal styles of earth-bending, he's also got a series of different skills under the classification of metal-bending. Where most people see metal-bending as just a way to allow them to take out tanks or to add specialist armor to themselves, he's a practitioner of a self-taught discipline. Just like how a skilled earth-bender can break apart rocks that are launched at him, he's taught himself how to break apart weapons, or how to control them with his bending, turning people's own military strength against them. Appearance: Height: 6' 0'' Weight: 64 Kilograms Eyes: Blue Hair: Maroon Skin: Mixed race (Caucasian / Brown) As his father was Ex-water tribe and his mother was from the earth kingdom, he doesn't have the normal characteristics of either. His maroon hair is definitely a trait more familiar with his earth blood line, but his water-tribe heritage is to blame for his blue eyes. His body is mesomorphic, developing muscles when he eats a lot rather than getting fat or becoming thin. When he avoids eating for a while, his muscles seem to atrophy slightly, so he has to frequently eat or else he loses some of his skill in battle. Other than that, he's quite tall, standing a few inches taller than the majority of the members of the water tribe, with hair that seems to permanently stick up whether he wants it to or not. However, neither culture has managed to affect his dressing style, due to the fact that he wears rather stylistic clothes almost permanently. If they had to be compared to another's style of dress, it might be called water tribe colors with earth kingdom design. He wears a blue robe with a permanently starched collar that sticks up around his neck. However, despite it having originally been designed to be worn closed, he wears it open as more of an overcoat. Underneath, his chest is almost permanently covered in a "tunic" made up of a wrap that goes around his chest, almost like bandages. His trousers are loose and slip into a pair of black boots that are thick enough to avoid letting him just get stabbed in the feet, but weak enough to let him feel vibrations through the ground. Weaponry & Other Gear: Black-Rock Dao Materials: Steel blade, Iron hilt, leather wrap, Steel scabbard. Description: A dao specifically forged for members of the "Black Rock" task-force, this weapon was forged by expert blacksmiths to be able to handle rapid and frequent metal-bending without becoming weak as a result. It's marked with the symbol of the earth kingdom on the pommel. Bag of "Nuts" Materials: steel, linen bag, string for attaching it to his belt Description: As the name suggests, this is a bag of nuts, as in the sort of things that are used for attaching joints in furniture construction. This seems harmless, and if he claims that he's a mechanic it seems natural for him to have it. However, it's actually a lot more deadly than it lets on, as he uses this as ammunition with his metal-bending to fire these small chunks of metal at someone, using their small size to make them more aero dynamic and thus able to go much faster, to the speed it can shoot through someone like an arrow. "Bandages" Materials: Linen Description: around 25 foot of linen ribbon that he normally wears around his chest like a tunic. However, when untangled, it's able to be used like a rope for specialist fighting, tripping people up and binding people so they can't fight or move. They have been specially tampered to permanently seem like they're covered in fresh blood. History: Yuu's mother and father met only briefly before his mother fell pregnant, and from the way that she told the story, they had been working on a mission together, although she still refuses to say what the mission was about, or what his father's name actually was. It was this reason that when he got older he began to doubt whether or not she actually knew who his father was, and seriously starting to think that he was born from a drunk accident. This, as you could probably guess, caused a rift between him and his mother from an early age. He would frequently run away when he was a kid, finding her presence to be extremely irritating. However, one of the times when he ran away, he stumbled across a class that taught earthbending, with a lesson free to try and get the students more interested. Of course, he wasn't very good when he first started, but because he learned from an earlier age than most earth-benders, he had more time to develop his abilities to levels akin to his master. By the time that he was 12, he had enough earth-bending skill to compete in actual championships, and although he never won, he frequently managed to get into the semi-finals, and even into the final match once. At the age of 10, his master saw him as talented enough to bring into the world of metal-bending. Although he initially took a little while to get used to the different style of bending, once he began to get a hang on the basics, he learned rapidly. During one of their many practice duels, he stumbled upon the ability that he became known for. His master had taught him how to destroy rocks before they hit their target, and by applying the basics to his metal-bending style, he managed to destroy the thing that was launched at him rather than merely redirecting it. When he turned 16, like all people from the earth country he was eligible to join the army. Due to his skill at bending, he was able to pass almost all the requirements with comparative ease, and even managed to get himself recognition among his superiors. With the recommendation of his master and the drill sergeant that he enlisted under, he was made a candidate for a small task-force that was looking for new members among the bending-capable recruits. Although it took an entire year of training, he came out with the rank of Sergeant and was enlisted into a team known as the "Black Rock" commandos. They were a group from the Earth Kingdom that was dedicated to wiping out dangers before they could become threats, whether that was through assassination or through simply destroying their bases. Over the next four years they were sent all over the four nations, from the South Pole to remove their whaling ships that would damage the food source that the Earth Kingdom imported, to the fire nation to remove talented up and coming officers. They were used for many years, and through those years obtained minimal casualties among their own forces. However, every single time they lost a man they gained new recruits. As the years went on, the member of their group that had been training the new recruits passed on after a heart attack. Since they needed someone to replace her, Yuuta stood up to the plate and and accepted the job, putting behind his days of fighting for the thrills of being a teacher. Two years later, at the age of 22, he retired from the army, becoming instead a simple teacher. Throughout the years that he had been working as a member of the task-force, he had become disheartened by the fear that clearly went behind the missions that they were sent on, being one of the few to see just how scared they were of their other nations since he was one of the unlucky ones who had to take care of it. It was this that truly made him dislike warfare, as he saw that all it did was spread unhappiness and further discontent. So, for the last two years, he's been travelling around the earth nation, teaching anyone who asks for him as a teacher. **OPTIONAL**Sample RP:*Optional only for members who have done a sample RP with an intermidiate-tier character before* (210 words minimum, must be from character's point of view--3rd person and 1st person acceptable) Character Box: Yánjiāng Yuuta
| It was strange, perhaps, that every time that he went out looking for a job he always seemed to end up getting stiffed with someone who either had little to no talent, to the degree that no amount of teaching would ever be able to fix that, or simply with a boorish fool who thought they were better than everyone else because of their inflated ego. However, when he was out on the town just trying to have a nice night, then things started exploding. It was that very reason that he was currently on the rooftops, chasing after some little kid who was running in front of him, giggling like an idiot. How did it come to this, he wondered.
Around half an hour earlier, he had stepped out of his house to go find something interesting to do. It shouldn't be that hard, this was an entire village full of people and all he had to do was go to a few restaurants, maybe go to one of the bars, he could have a pretty nice evening if he got lucky. Well, if he was lucky, not if he got lucky, he corrected himself with a blush. Now, to get on and do what he was doing. He had only walked past maybe five alleyways before he heard the sound of trapped gas being released... no, not like that, stupid reader, get your mind out of the gutter. He turned his head and looked into the alleyway with confusion, wondering exactly what it was that he was missing here. It wasn't too hard to see, even in the dim limelight of the streets, he could see a young boy spraying black paint onto the walls. Grafitti? Well, he wasn't normally the kind to interfere in something quite so paltry, but since he was here he might as well.
Walking into the alleyway behind him, he cleared his throat before waiting to get an answer back, any decent explanation about why the kid was willing to do this. However, instead he almost got a can to the forehead as the boy tossed it and began to run. Oh he was not getting away that easily, Yuu thought with irritation at this boy's cowardice, especially not throwing a can at my head. His hand moved out quickly, stopping the can before it could move any further, before letting it drop to the floor and following after the brat.
Tearing down the alleyway after him, they continued their chase until he ran up a wall, using his earth-bending to maintain his ability to stick to the wall, before getting to the top of the building. He seemed not to expect Yuu to manage the same feat, but as they both reached the top of the building the boy bolted again.
So, here we are, back at where this story started, their feet beating a rapid rhythm across the rooftops of the city as they jumped between buildings, the boy in front determined not to be caught and punished, and the man behind determined to win this little competition. He was not normally so competitive, but he could not deny his burning desire to win this. He could, he would remember later, use some of his weapons to take out this kid, but with the area that they were currently on it just wouldn't be safe. Besides, he might have been a little turd, but that didn't deserve being shot.
So, blinded by this desire to win, he leaped forwards, his arms grappling around the boy's waist and catching him. Unfortunately, when he caught him, he didn't think their position through too well, as they were now standing precariously on the edge of the roof. The boy also didn't seem to notice, as he struggled to get out of the man's grip, overbalancing the both of them and knocking them off the edge.
They began to fall, their trajectory destined for the hard floor and to be little more than splats. Still, they WERE both earth-benders, so there was no concern to be worried. Pushing a hand out, Yuu raised the earth to him, turning what would have been a nasty fall into more of a slide, using the slabs of stone as a make shift slide, until they finally came to the end, landing on actual rock again.
They bounced, rolling over and over on the stone street until they came to a stop, Yuu's hands pressing down on the boy's shoulders, his knees pinning down his legs. A single look into the boy's eyes, filled with shock, confusion, a little bit of pain and, finally, the horrific knowledge that he was going to be punished for his crimes. Good, he was no longer filled with the willingness to do anything about it. | Mood: Angry Condition: Ill | Link: N/A | | |
