Gender:Male
Age: 28
Element: Air
Birthplace: Southern Air temple
Position: Master Air bender
Personality: Koeten is a hermit by nature that has just recently decided to venture into the vast world as his mother died. He is humble and analytical, before rushing into any situation he looks at the pro's and con's of everything with a calculating mind. As he was not raised as most air benders as monks, he carries traits that are normal of common village folk. While rage is defiantly not one of his strong suits he has it. Most often you will find him buying drinks or having a friendly conversation with anyone who will listen. However he is no stranger to combat, but tries to shy away from it when at all possible.
Abilities: This tall dark headed man is skilled in the use of a Wakazashi and Katana at the same time. Able to channel the wind through his blades and use air bending separate ,of course, without them. Koeten was trained by his mother and father who were both air benders his father being a master of it.
Appearance: Koeten can be seen at all times in black and white robes with a pink flowered kimono over his shoulders. A straw hat on his head and a gourd of Sake in his hand. His Katana and Wakazashi are tucked into his white and powder blue sash on his left hip. These were the robes his father developed and loved over the traditional Air bender robes as they were more stylish and more comfortable.
History: [*]
Chapter 1: A baby and his heathen parentsKoeten was born like any other child airbender in the southern air temple, happy, healthy and with loving parents. What set him apart was that his parents were on the edge of exile. After witnessing his own siblings get killed by a raiding party of rogue earth benders he threw away the monk’s pacifist beliefs and took up a code or action. Malgoth Tarea was a former Elder of the Southern air temple and a master Air bender. His wife was a very capable bender as well.
Malgoth resigned as an Elder since he no longer followed the monks beliefs, he and his wife were allowed to live in the temple out of kindness. However Malgoth’s preaching’s were getting bothersome some of the younger benders were listening to him. Then to top it off his loyal wife traveled to the earth kingdom and had a pair of swords (1 katana and 1 wakazashi) made by a master smith and presented them to her
husband as a present. She would back her husband no matter what.
It eventually came to light that not only his troublesome preaching were a problem but the fact that he carried deadly weapons everywhere in the temple was simply un acceptable. He was asked to leave with his wife after he provoked another elder into violating his vows and aggressively attacking him. The monks attempted to keep Koeten who was only 7 months old at the time but Malgoth told them over his dead body and him and his wife fled with their child in the dead of night. They eventually settled in the forests outside Gaoling making a small humble house for themselves and the father proceeded to trade wood and exotic birds in the town for trading.

Chapter 2: Teaching with no Temple.Skip ahead till Koeten was 12 years old, he was already well under way in his air bending training by his father and mother. When the father went out on trade missions the mother taught him Air bending and more traditional Air bending morals. Such as not to go looking for a fight and avoid them if possible by negotiating. When the father taught him he taught him not only air bending but marital skills with swords and how to combine the techniques with the swords if need be. This instilled a solid courage and quick wittedness in the boy.

Chapter 3 : Returning to ones rootsWhen Koeten turned 16 he was allowed to choose what he wanted to do, Stay with them or return to his roots at the Southern Air Temple. He decided on the later and so, to commemorate his leaving his father passed on his swords and the boy set out with his already very considerable skills at Air Bending. When he arrived at the temple his name was added to the list of monks. He began his studies and even though they were teaching him Air bending as well, he already had greatly surpassed those of his own age due to his mother and Father’s training. At the Age of 22 he was granted Elder status, at the Age of 28 he was granted a seat on the council.
6 months after being granted a Council seat at a meeting he requested to be given control of the Western Air temple and to lead around 100 monks and their families to restore it to its former glory. The council took a vote and agreed that the temple was still in excellent shape and should be restored so that they may re open a close place to get in contact with the fire nation. And so Koeten left 3 weeks later with the families that volunteered and arrived a month later at the temple. They immediately began restoration and are still restoring it to this day, the temple is now open for business.
