Personality: A ball of energy, Dao is keenly interested in everything, her sharp intelligence often getting her into trouble as she tries to figure out the 'whys' of everything she comes across. Sweet, and playful, she's a good kid if not a little willful. At seven, her life experiences are few, so her personality is not affected by many experiences yet. Most of her thoughts and actions are ultimately ruled by her stomach and her sense of adventure. She does have a special empathy for people when they are sad, and tries to make everyone around her laugh.



Abilities: At the moment, Dao is unaware of her ability to bend earth. Occasionally, when she is extremely emotional, the earth directly under her feet rumbles just a bit, but she doesn't notice. When that happens, her whole body is usually shaking at that point, be it from anger or frustration or fear. The rumbles wouldn't be anything anyone else would necessarily notice, unless they were paying close attention.



Appearance: Dressed in a simple undyed cotton tunic and sandals, the small girl looks relatively healthy under a thin layer of dirt. She carries a pair of chopsticks in her sleeve, and a small leather bag is tied at her waist with a one-inch wide, bright yellow ribbon. A shock of light brown hair crowns her head, bits sticking out here and there. Large green eyes look out from under thick bangs. She stands 4'3" tall.


History: Dao's parents lived in Full Moon Bay. Her father was a fisherman, and her mother ran a small food stall by the docks, cooking simple, inexpensive food for the workers. She had no siblings, but played with the other kids that lived near her grandparents on a hill flanking the bay. She stayed with her grandparents while her parents worked during the day. At age five, calamity struck. A tsunami ripped through the bay, claiming both of her parents. That night, after the waters subsided, her grandparents took her to a neighbor who was watching all of the children while the rest of the town searched for survivors. Her grandparents were lost that night, trying to help others. No one ever told Dao exactly what happened to any of her family, and she was sent to the orphanage in nearby Ba Sing Se. Two years later, she was fed up with the rules of the orphanage and began running away. Most people she met dragged her back, so she fell to hiding out, stealing food from drunkards plates on the tables set outside of inns and taverns. At this posting, she's managed to stay out of the orphanage for five days now.
