PostSubject: Senpak Chu   Senpak Chu EmptyMon Aug 04, 2014 2:40 pm

Full Name:Senpak Chu
Gender:Male
Age: (25)
Element:Whip and leather-coated umbrella
Birthplace:Suburbs of the Fire-nation Capital
Position:Bodyguard/butler/personal assistant for hire
Training: Hand to Hand (expert) Whip (expert)/Umbrella(expert)/Throwing Daggers(intermediate)/Smoke-bombs(intermediate)

Personality: Senpak Chu is a kind and friendly individual. He is intelligent and understanding and is a reliable advisor. His current employer is relatively wealthy, allowing Senpak Chu to not concern himself much with material-affairs. This means in no way that he is spoiled or extravagant. He has always been a grateful and humble individual. However, being raised in the city, being used to the lifestyle of the upperclass, Senpak Chu finds himself often out of his element outside of the city. He is no ignoramus, he knows how to deal with the “common man” and he can survive amongst them. But if he was expected to live outside the city for an extended period of time, it might take a while for him to adjust. Raised by his parents with a good set of principals and morals, educated in etiquette, philosophy, history and geography, Chu has all the making of a gentleman, except for a proper title. He will always behave courteous and well mannered to others,  even when he is fighting someone. Like a proper gentleman, Chu deplores ill mannered individuals and can’t stand improper behavior towards women. If he sees any such conducts he will intervene if the situation allows it. Chu is not an easy man to anger, but anyone acting as a barbarian can expect to be scorned or in a worst-case-scenario be schooled in proper etiquette. Such lessons are not for the faint of heart.

Senpak Chu takes pride in his work. Being the butler of a noble family and the personal assistant to one of the family members is giving him much satisfaction. He will do his utmost for them. He is dedicated and loyal.

Abilities: Senpak Chu is a respectable martial artist. He is definetly not an experienced warrior, as he was shielded from the harsh outerworld for most of his childhood. However, he trained with the best to become a reliable bodyguard as is expected of most butlers in the Fire Nation. As Senpak is no bender, he was trained to use the whip. The whip allows him to overcome the disadvantage of distance most non-benders experience when fighting benders. It also allows him to interrupt or disrupt bending-moves.

During his training it became apparent that he needed something to shield him from incoming attacks, such as fireballs, or icespikes. A shield was the simple answer, however his work did not allow him to carry one around continuously. Senpak had a hard time coming up with alternatives until one day he was escorting one of the children of his masters and it started raining. When he shielded the girl from most of the elements it struck him; he didn’t need a shield, he needed a proper gentleman weapon, an umbrella. Using a big portion of his allowance, he let the local blacksmith construct a special umbrella which Senpak then started training with. The umbrella is far heavier than a regular one, and therefore not easy to handle. However, Senpak has years of experience using the tool and can therefore be considered an expert with it.
Senpak most obvious weakness is his inability to bend. A bender often has him at a disadvantage, just by being able to control the elements. Senpak also has no real killer-instinct, resorting only to violence when the situation requires it of him.
Outside a city, Senpak is at quite an disadvantage. Inside he instinctively knows his way and can easily find anything that he requires. Yet outside the city, in the open wild, he needs to rely on others and only rarely manages to fend for himself. It also doesn’t help that he is allergic to pollen.

Appearance:
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 89kg
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Brown and short
Skin:Caucasian

Senpak Chu is quite tall and broad shouldered. His silhouette is quite impressive and if he enters a room he is noted just by being there. He has a kind and open face, yet this often goes unnoticed as he hides it behind a white mask with the logo of the fire-nation upon it. Underneath you would find a short spiky haired, bearded face that often smiles. The mask however makes him look menacing and unapproachable. His master requires him to wear this mask as it immediately identifies Senpak as one of his own. In addition it doesn’t invite anyone to enter a conversation with Senpak, which is exactly what the master intents. The mask shields Senpak’s face from potential attacks and is therefore both esthetic and useful.
Aside from the mask, Senpak is often clad in dark clothes. He wears black riding boots under dark-red wide pants. His shirt is in the same colour with wide sleeves and a hood. Over his shirt, Senpak wears a leather vest with straps. When working Senpak wears a black cloak and his face is hidden by the mask and his hood. In addition he wears black leather gloves of the highest quality. In fact, his whole outfit is made by the best tailors from the city. Senpak’s master is, unlike Senpak himself, quite the materialist and insists on having the uniforms of all his employees in peak condition.

Weaponry & Other Gear:
Item Name Leather Whip
Materials: Leather
Description:The whip itself is not special. It is an average whip that allows Senpak to fight opponents from a greater distance. In addition, he can use it to swing around, grab objects, blow out candles, disarm opponents, trip opponents, tie up opponents and anything else a leather cord can be used for

Item NameLeather Umbrella
Materials:Leather, Steel, wire, copper trimming
Description:The Leather Umbrella is a personal invention intended to shield the user from potential harm. To the unsuspecting onlooker it looks like a slightly oversized umbrella, almost a parasol. The leather cover makes it look heavy, which it is. When opened, the umbrella can withstand several fire-blasts. It functions like a leather shield, meaning that it if an object is sharp enough, it can pierce right through. Still it can withstand most attacks and makes for a useful alternative for a shield. In addition it can be wielded as a shortspear. The tip of the umbrella hides a blade which can be sprung by the push of a button at the base of the umbrella. The steel shaft and tip make for a fierce weapon which can catch most off guard.
It’s design is elegant and the craftsmen put a lot of effort in making it look pretty. The leather is decorated with an imprinting of dragons circling a sun. The steel shaft has been darkened and copper figurines have been worked into it. The handle is thick, which allows for a good grip.

Item Name Throwing knives
Materials: Steel, leather
Description: Standard Throwing knives which can be used for stabbing an throwing.

Item Name Smoke bombs
Materials:paper, chemicals
Description: The smoke bombs allow the user to surprise his opponent by creating a blinding cloud of smoke.

Item Name White Mask
Materials: Leather/steel/volcanic glass
Description:The white mask Senpak wears as proof of his office looks menacing and hides all his features. It is designed to withstand direct fire attacks and protects its wearer from projectiles. However, the material isn't completely fireproof, nor is it impregnetable. The volcanicglass eyes can be slided up allowing for better vision.

History: Senpak Chu grew up in a loving family with three other siblings. Being the oldest, Senpak often had to look out for them and grew up with a big sense of responsibility. His father managed to convince his master (who was always referred to as such) to allow Senpak an education so he could grow to become a good asset in their service. Senpak was sent to school where he was taught many things, including history and geology. At home, his mother would teach him the basic etiquettes of the courts. Soon he was hard to distinguish from actual nobility. He had all the mannerisms and presence of a gentleman.

The master was pleased with the progress Senpak had made and decided that he would become his personal servant. This way he could show him off and enjoy the convenient service of the young man. He was smart, learned fast and insightful. The master also decided to let Senpak be trained in martial arts. Paranoid that he might be attacked one day, Senpak was trained by the best to protect his master at all costs.

When Senpak got older, the master decided to give him a mask to wear as a badge of office. This served two goals. First of all, nobody would know what Senpak would look like. If the master needed him to spy on someone, he could do it more easily. Secondly, the mask functioned as an protection against elemental attacks.
Senpak enjoyed his life, eventhough he couldn’t help but feel that his master was a bit overzealous in protecting himself. Senpak didn’t mind the eduction, he enjoyed the martial-arts class and his uniform was unconventional, yet practical and proof of his importance. In the end it turned out the master had a reason to be paranoid.

One night, Senpak was woken up by a sound coming from the courtyard. Drowsy and trying to rub the sleep out of his eyes, he stumbled to the window only to be surprised by a sudden torrent of flames. Luckily the attack wasn’t aimed at him, but at the window above him… the masters bedroom. Senpak immediately ran back into his room, grabbed the mask and his whip and then jumped out of the window. With a flick of his wrist he lashed out at an overhanging tree branch and swung down to the courtyard. With another flick the whip let go of the branch and Senpak rolled onto the square. Right infront of a very surprised firebender. The mask had taken the attacker of guard and for a moment he could only blink at the masked man in pyamas. Realizing that Senpak might be a threat he moved to blast a fireball. Before he could finish his move, Senpak had already made his move. He swung his right arm, the whip cut through the air and painfully latched itself around the leg of the attacker. Throwing his whole weight in the move, Senpak spinned on the spot and pulled the legs right under the attacker. The man fell and the fireball flew uselessly into the air. It made an arch and landed on the square, fortunately without burning anything. Within seconds Senpak was upon the attacker and knocked him out cold. Yet, he didn’t get to enjoy his victory. A second attacker fired a shot from behind. Senpak only barely managed to dodge it, by rolling of his victim and ending up in a crouch. The second attacker kept on firing and Senpak had to dart from left to right to dodge the fireballs. The young butler tried to get close, but the attacks were to well placed and forced him to take cover behind the tree.

The second fire-bender unleashed an arch of flames that ignited the tree he was using for cover. Burning leafs and branches started to fall down on top of Senpak as he desperately tried to come up with a plan. Then his eyes noticed the umbrella on the ground. Not caring where it came from, he vauled over it and with his left hand he grabbed it. Halfway in the air he twisted his hips and landed facing the firebender. Again fireballs flew towards him, but this time Senpak had a weapon. He darted forward, diving under the first wave of fireballs, into a roll and then jumped over the second wave. He was now only five meters away from his opponent. The second firebender smiled, he couldn’t miss. Time seemed to slow down as the right fist of the firebender punched forward, unleashing another fireball at Senpak. Senpak reacted by opening the umbrella whilst sliding towards his opponent. The fireball hit the umbrella deadcentre and dispersed around it. The materials immediately caught fire but did not allow for the fireball to hit the young butler. Senpak’s sliding was all he needed to close the distance. With a fluid move he threw the burning umbrella up in the air and pushed himself of the ground to kick the second firebender in the face. Another knock-out.

This assault was Senpak’s first real experience as a fighter. The umbrella had saved his life and sparked the idea of creating a more durable version. After investigation it turned out the master had used his position to extort money from farmer communities in the fields. One of those communities had hired two firebenders to release them from him. The master was arrested and Senpak found himself without a job. He decided to use this opportunity to explore the world a bit and find himself a master of his liking. Making a decent living as a bodyguard/butler/personal assistant for hire.

RP example:

Senpak sighed as he wandered over the market. It was a hot sunny day, his stomach was rumbling and he hadn't had a decent bath in two days. Hardly the conditions a gentleman wished to find himself in. Ever since his master had been arrested for treason and fraud the young butler had found himself without a source of income and stability. His family had moved in with relatives somewhere in the country. Senpak had decided to try his luck in the city, where there were more job-opportunities for a man of his skill and stature. Unfortunately the only luck he had so far was that a local inkeeper hadn't caught on to his current financial debacle. A few more days and Senpak would be forced to sell some of his wardrobe to sustain his already meager livelyhood. The unemployed butler knew that walking around a market wasn't really going to get him a job, but after standing five minutes with the other unemployed civilians of whom he could not tell whether they knew of the existence of baths, he had decided that walking was a more dignified reaction than running.

With another sigh Senpak unfolded his umbrella. The heavy tool was a burden to carry around so he'd rather have it do something usefull as blocking out the sun instead of only tiring his arms. He couldn't help but admire the craftmanship that had gone into the device. Aside from the leather instead of paper or cloth cover, it looked like a normal if somewhat oversized umbrella. The heaviness was all due to the materials used. It had to be sturdy to do its job, except for the one it had to do today. Today it was just another source for shade.

Without thinking Senpak had walked to the edge of the market and was about to turn around for another pointless round when he heard screams coming from behind him. "HOLD IT! THIEF". Before Senpak could react, two young kids ran past him holding what seemed to be breadbaskets. After them stormed an angry stall-owner cursing at the top of his lungs. The man pushed Senpak out of his way, throwing the young butler off balance and into some bystanders. With an undignified "hey!" Senpak landed face first in the dirt. Very much annoyed he lay there and silently swore to never eat bread again... at least not from that particular scoundrel. With a grunt he got up again to dust himself up. "oh dear, poor lads" he heard an old lady say. She had been watching the whole scene. "That is Shinji, that man has a bad temper" she said to no one in particular. "Those kids don't know what they have gotten themselves into". Senpak turned around and raised an eyebrow. "I am awfully graced by your concern madam, were it not that I don't believe those boys deserve any" he said a bit hurt. Wasn't he the one who just took a nose-dive? The lady looked at him disdainfully and said "That man once whipped a boy so hard, he now walks with a limb. Those two boys are not going to get off easy". Almost as an afterthought she asked "Did you get hurt?". Senpak picked up his umbrella and checked if it was damaged in any way before answering. "I think I'll live". The lady shrugged and moved away, leaving the disgruntled butler behind.

Deciding he needed tea to calm his nerves and put this unfortunate event behind him, he left the market. Coincidentally, he had to go the same direction as the boys and their pursuer went in order to arrive at his favourite (and affordable) teashop. Tea was maybe the only thing Senpak could still afford and he was starting to look forward to a pot of those marvelous boiled leafs the Jade Flower offered. The teashop was only a few blocks away and Senpak made his way under the cover of his umbrella.

Not long after that, he was sitting in a comfortable chair, sipping on a fresh green tea made with mint and some other spices when Senpak could swear the ground started shaking. "COME BACK HEEREEEE!" Yelled the man called Shinji at the two boys he was still chasing. "Oh give it up" mumbled Senpak as he took another sip. If he hadn't caught them yet, he wasn't going to anytime soon. Apparently Shinji had come to the same conclusion as he stopped running and instead took off one of his shoes and threw it after the boys. Unfortunately, Shinji did not have many talents outside of baking. The shoe flew through the air, but instead of hitting one of the boys, it landed dead centre on the table of Senpak, shattering the porcelain cups and splashing boiling tea all over the already grumpy butler.

The whole street went dead silent. All eyes were on the butler who's inner peace was now completely shattered. One of the servants ran towards his table to offer assistance but Senpak stopped him with a short handgesture. Slowly, the tea-drenched young man grapped a napkin which wasn't any drier than he was, and dabbed his lips. He then gently put the napkin back, got up and put two coins on the table. He then pulled out his mask from under his jacket and gently put it on. Nobody dared to move an inch. Shinji just looked at the strange guy putting on a white mask and for a moment completely forgot about the two thieves. "Now look here sir, I don't want an-" Senpak interrupted him by raising a finger and flicking it left and right. with his other hand he unbuttoned his whip and like a serpent it wriggled to the ground. "Now look here si" *Whack*. The cracking of the single-tail whip made Shinji instantly shut up. Without a word, Senpak slowly walked towards the stunned baker. Halfway between the baker and the store he stopped and pointed his finger at the baker. "You're gonna need both shoes..." he said with a low and menacing voice, distorted by the mask. With a flick of his right wrist his whip lashed out and with a crack the far end wrapped itself around the shoe back at the table. With a tug at the whip Senpak launched the shoe towards the baffled baker. The sound the flying shoe made when it collided with the baker's chin barely satisfied the fuming butler. The baker started to raise his fists but was again interrupted by another crack of the whip. "Put it on" Senpak said. The baker looked at him in confusion. Another crack of the whip. "Put... the shoe... on...!" Senpak said with emphasis on every word. The baker quickly did as he was told, all the while being watched by the masked man. Once he had his shoe back on, Shinji rose up, not sure what to expect. Senpak had already started rolling up his whip and fastening it on his belt. The young butler took one step to the side and slighlty bowed. Invitingly he pointed at the direction the two little thieves had ran off to. "If I remember correctly, you were going that way?" Senpak enquired with a polite voice. The baffled baker only nodded his head. "Well, I wish you all the luck on your pursuit good sir" the butler said courteously. The baker started to move forward, unsure what to expect. Senpak encouragingly waved his hands at the street and kindly spoke "Off you go". The baker, now focused again on what he had been doing started running and shouting "WAIT FOR ME YOU SONS OF BIiIII-!" but before he could finish his sentence Senpak had stuck out his right leg and tripped the baker. With the grace of a manetee-rabbit the baker fell flat on the ground and remained there confused and hurt. Soflty humming Senpak stepped over the baker and spinned on one foot. He then bowed over the hurting baker and snatched his purse from his belt. The baker started to protest but Senpak put his boot on his neck and pushed the bakers' face back on the pavement, muffeling anything he tried to say. He took three coins from the purse, closed it up and tossed it next to the head of the baker. "That will do nicely" Senpak stated. "One coin for the drycleaners, one coin for tea and a final coin to compensate me for an awfull morning. Now be a gentleman, and stop running around like an idiot. Somebody might get hurt" Senpak ended dryly. Understanding the underlying message all too well, the baker scrambled to his feet and with his purse in his hands he quickly made his way back to the market. Senpak watched the man leave and then returned to his table to collect his things. Now he had to go to the drycleaners to save his shirt, but atleast he could afford a proper bath now... one that didn't smell of tea-leafs.
