Yua Kimuri

Yua is a hothead, there's no way around it. Pissing her off is not a difficult task, and she isn't ashamed of this character trait at all. If anything, she's proud to say she always stands up for herself, and won't let anybody get away with -for example- insulting her. She might not look very tough, but it's best to avoid getting in a fight with her. She always wants to have the last word in any discussion, and won't rest until she has it. Besides, she hates people telling her what to do.

She treasures her pride, and cares more about her attitude than her appearance. Because of this, she can appear quite cocky and arrogant. She is independent and often feels like she doesn't need anyone's help. She never backs down from a challenge, not even if she knows deep down that she won't succeed. Her life consists of a lot of falling and getting back up. She's reckless when it comes to fights, and loudmouthed when it comes to conversations. If she doesn't like someone, she'll make sure they know that. On the other hand, she's straight forward and it's very clear whether she's your friend or not. If she does like someone, be it in a friendly or romantic way, she's loyal and protective. She rarely lies or pretends, making her a very honest person, for better or for worse.

Yua's behavior towards someone is heavily based on the way they treat her. If they smile, she returns a sincere laugh; but if they give her a dirty look, she returns a death glare. She doesn't hold a grudge, and allows people to have second chances. She might have some anger inside, but no hatred. She especially has a soft spot for children and animals, and is surprisingly patient around them. When she isn't controlled by her short temper, she's a very upbeat person, and doesn't really take anything seriously. She's passionate and will stop at nothing to achieve her goals.


Yua's firebending skills are currently intermediate, though she learns very quickly. She only started training a few years ago though, so she hasn't had enough practice to be an expert yet. She often uses quick, swift moves to bring her opponent out of balance before using longer streams of fire to defeat them. She prefers to redirect or dodge attacks rather than blocking them, so her speed and agility comes in handy.

Despite the fact that she's a hothead, she knows she has to have some self-control to master firebending. Therefore, practicing firebending is one of the few times when she's actually quite calm. She even meditates and does breathing exercises, just to become a better firebender. She's very passionate and dedicates a large amount of her time to that.  

Other than that, she's not bad at playing the pan flute.


(236/ 140) Yua has black hair, which reaches her chest when it's loose. However, she always wears it in two loose ponytails with grey rubber bands, which creates a messy hairdo.  She has two bright orange feathers in her hair as well, loosely hanging from one side. Her eyebrows are the same color as her hair, and pretty thick. Her skin is quite pale, in contrast to her dark hair. She has light freckles, but only around her nose. She has several small scars on her body, and usually some bruises as well. She also has a scar on her left cheek, which she got from one of the many fights she's been in thus far. She has big, though slightly narrow eyes, in a rich brown color. She always wears her black necklace with three teeth of a tiger shark.

She is around average height, and has a pretty petite shape. She doesn't have many curves or muscles, it looks more like she still has the build of a teenager. Her hands and feet are smaller than average, and more refined. She wears simple, loose clothes, usually in a shade of brown, red, or black. She doesn't really care what she wears, as long as it's comfortable and practical. She looks a bit younger than she is, mostly due to her freckles, big eyes and lack of curves. She's usually very recognizable by her trademark smug grin.


Yua had a relatively normal childhood. She was born in Shu Jing, on one of the islands of the Fire Nation. Both her parents were non-benders, and so was her younger brother, who was born three years later. Early on, it was clear that she had a short temper, which was hard to control. Her relationship with her family was still good, but they all got on each other's nerves and tensions were high.

At school, she got into plenty of fights. Basically she got into a fight with every person she disliked, and that was before she even discovered she could firebend. That happened at the age of eight, after a particularly bad discussion with her mother. She adored her newfound powers, and really wanted to use them and become a better bender. But shortly after, her parents divorced, and she and her little brother were forced to continuously move between two homes.  

This didn't improve Yua's behavior, quite the contrary. She got into more fights and sometimes even used firebending to win. She also didn't do very well at school, and both her parents became very frustrated with her. Eventually they said they would allow her to learn firebending from a master, if she worked harder at school. This method was perfect, and she studied hard to accomplish it. When she was thirteen, she got her first lessons in firebending. She also learned a lot of about self control, and things at home improved as well because of that. She could throw most of her anger and cropped up frustrations into firebending, and calm down again through meditation and breathing exercises.

But her rebellious and rambunctious side never left her, and she felt trapped in the small town. Her mother and father finally allowed her to leave when she was eighteen and officially an adult. Currently she's traveling to several places in the world (except for the north and south pole, no way she's going there voluntarily) with a limited amount of money, and the only things she really misses about home is her brother.
