Personality: Mei Fong is a no-nonsense, cross me and you'll regret it type of man. He is known to be an iron-fisted leader, but willing to die in the event his soldiers needed support when retreating. For the most part, Mei is hard shelled, but really cares for the men and women he directs, and leads into battle. Mei's greatest passion in life is serving his nation, but meeting the Avatar runs a close second. He usually introduces himself in an official capacity as General Mei Fong of the Fire Nation, however he prefers to be called Mei.
Alone: Mei tends to meditate, or draw when he’s alone. He also can be found training when unoccupied by his duties, especially when he’s off duty. Although he is reserved on the surface, he has a wild streak, and will often go on party binges on the confines of Ember Island. He also usually has quite a stack of paper work, and if he truly has nothing better to do, you can find him filling them out properly.
With Others: Mei is typically outgoing when in the presence of others, though he has been known to take a more servile attitude when confronted by anyone of higher rank or standing. He likes to be liked, and tends to do his best to make friends. Though he is also known to not tolerate people saying something for no reason, especially when he’s trying to be serious or when something serious is at hand.
With friends: Mei tends to be far less stressed or serious when he’s with his friends. It’s rare that he ever sees them, but when he does, it’s usually a joy to see him again. He also tends to be fond of drinking, so it may become a bit more wild than usual if Mei is around, but that’s due to his natural ability to have a good time when he really wants to.
Abilities: Mei Fong is what many people consider a master interrogator, and can peel even the most secret information from just about anyone. Mei is practiced in the arts of Tai Chi and Kung Fu, and frequently uses it in combat, both to reflect, and prevent attacks. It is rumored that no man has ever touched Mei Fong and that he is like a ghost, seen, but untouchable. Mei tends to use Firebending as a last resort, preferring to pound his enemies using his hand to hand combat. Mei can also summon lightning, which he usually uses when he is forced to Firebend, or when he wants information. Mei has learned how manipulate lightning into a cattle prod, an easy way to zap his unfortunate victim until he has the information he is asking for.
Mei spent many years of his life learning how to properly hand and fight with a sword, and has also discovered how to channel his Chi through the blade to generate an electric shock upon contact with his opponent. Walking alongside this skill is his skill with a dagger, though not as well practiced as his sword, he can maintain close-quarters combat for extended periods of time if it’s necessary.
Mei was graced with a talent for hand to hand combat, using the simplest of Firebending stances, and techniques, he has been known to take down even his most ferocious opponents. Mei’s agility and strength come from his years serving as a frontline man for the Fire Nation. The technique Mei adopts for hand-to-hand combat his a combination of the smooth, flowing movements of Waterbending and the straight forward, raw power of Earthbending.
Mastered Techniques: Breath of fire, Blazing rings and arcs, Blocking fire, Fire blade, Fire bomb, Fire circle, Fire daggers, Fire lashes, Fire streams, Fire whip, Fireballs/Fire-jabs, Heat control, Shield of fire, The Dancing Dragon, Jet propulsion, Charged attacks, Wall of flames, Combustion, Pressurized fire stream, Fire comet, Fire missiles, and Fire augmentation.
Appearance: Mei Fong is built like a tank, ripped physical features paired with a charming smile, he rarely has any trouble with rebels, or bandits, as he is an intimidating person to look upon.
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 235lbs solid muscle.
Eyes: Yellow
Hair: Black
Skin: White
Mei Fong is fond of long walks on the beach and sailing, as well as the calm before any battle. The deep breath before the plunge. Mei Fong is a military genius, and strategist, with a cold demeanor and demanding personality, he tolerates no disobedience from his men, unless lives are dependent on instantaneous action. Mei dresses in the usual attire for a Fire Nation general, and never strays from military attire unless he has to. He will never ask his men to do something he wouldn't do himself, and will be the last man to retreat, and first to attack whenever the chance presents itself. Mei is fair, loyal, and noble, yet has a dark side in the face of treason. Mei has scars from blades across his chest, and arms, a result of his being the last man to retreat when a platoon he had been part of before he had been anything more than a grunt. He carries these scars as a reminder of his past mistakes, he knew his commanding officer's mental capacity had been compromised, but couldn't bring himself to disobey orders until it was too late. Mei’s had a tough life, and it shows through in his, usually, serious demeanor, not to say he’s above humor, but he has a hard time looking at the world in a positive light. Mei’s scars cross his back are long, white, and thin, but to the trained eye, can be easily seen as extremely painful memories to the General.
Recently, Mei has been tatted on his arms, both front and back, over his shoulders, chest, and down his back. These are solid black flames, intricately down over his skin, leaving. They swirl and curl over ever part of his body, though he has no real memory of how he came to have them.

History:
Mei was born in the Fire Nation Capital, and was orphaned at a young age. His aunt was the one to raise him, but she had always avoided children, as she preferred to party, and gamble, rather than have responsibility. As a result, Mei learned to take care of himself, cooking and cleaning without supervision before he was old enough to attend school. By the time he was of schooling age, his aunt had amassed a huge debt, and was wanted by many known thugs in and outside the city walls.
This was Mei's first real test as a man, though he was only 12 at the time. One night, late, and quiet, the doors to his aunt's house were smashed in, and three men began tearing through the house, searching for their boss's money, or Ms. Kai, whichever came first. Fortunately for Mei's aunt, she was out gambling again, and all they found was a young boy, determined, and glaring at the intruders. They tried to reason with him first, kids are stupid after all, not smart enough to see through deception. He moved close to Mei, smiling warmly, "Hey there, we're here to talk to your mom, do you know where she is?", the man asked, his voice was soft, and friendly.
Mei's eyes betrayed nothing of what he intended to do, he whispered something, feigning shyness, and timidity. The man stepped closer, "Say again?", he said, and Mei span , picking up a small statue of Avatar Roku that was sitting on a desk beside the boy, and he slammed it with all the force he could muster into the side of the man's head, producing a dull crack, followed by a thud as the man hit the floor. Mei didn't miss a step; he lunged forward, driving his fist into the next man's groin, the one who had been between him and the door. He dashed out into the street, screaming for help, nearly away when the third man, the only one left unharmed by Mei's bravery, drove a fist into Mei's back, forcing the air out of his lungs in a weak, pained cry, and slammed him into the ground.
He lifted his fist, his hand bursting into flame, "Big mistake, kid." There was a short moment, where Mei reflected on his brief life, his parents dying, leaving him alone, his aunt being inattentive, and pretending like he didn't exist, and then these men, these men who wanted to hurt the only family he had left, the only person who he could say knew, or cared he existed. He decided then, that even if this was the end, he would prefer to be remembered as the boy who died trying to protect his aunt, rather than die as no one, he closed his eyes, and waited, but no contact was ever made, a loud, hot blast suddenly knocked the man away, and silence enveloped the street.
When Mei opened his eyes, he saw a man there, bearing the uniform of a Fire Nation soldier, but without the mask. He knelt down beside Mei, "You alright, kid?", he asked, lightly shaking his shoulder, "Hey, you ok?" Mei nodded slowly, and, in a sudden, emotional outburst, he threw his arms around the soldier's neck, tears streaming down his face. The soldier was caught by surprise, but returned the embrace, "Thank you...thank you so much...", Mei managed to say. The soldier was confused, and slightly unnerved, "It was no big deal." Mei wished he could tell this soldier everything, how he was an orphan, how his own aunt despised his existence, how he felt he was unworthy of being saved, but he settled for tightening his grip. It was in that moment that Mei decided being a solider was what he wanted most. The years passed quickly after that, his aunt passed away when Mei turned 18, she had died in her sleep after a particularly heavy drinking binge.
Mei had turned his all power into training, finding several suitable teachers, he worked three jobs, and spent most of his time counting change to survive, but he evolved into a great warrior, enlisting in the Fire Nation army at age 21, he started off as a scout, climbing trees, and mountains to map out terrain. He climbed the ranks quickly, being a gifted solider, becoming a general in less than five years. He's spent the last five years of his life crushing bandit, pirate, and rebellion groups across the globe. Where ever help is needed, his ship can be seen crossing the ocean to lend aid to whoever needs him. It is rumored that where ever he goes, he asks of the Avatar, and her whereabouts, always hopeful of meeting the person upon whom the world's balance depends.
Twelve years? Where was he? What happened? Why? The spirit lured him in, locked his soul away. He drifted, was lost. Broke promises, lost things. Why? What had happened to him? Did he die? No, definitely not. But he was lost for so long. His disappearance was infamy incarnate, people knew. People looked at him differently, he was the one who was supposed to marry the Avatar, no he was the coward who ran away from responsibility and vanished. For twelve years. She probably hated him now, he learned a lot, the street people treated him with some kindness. They told what was going on. Kako and Shula gone, Tarek as Fire Lord. Zulera. The name fell upon his mind with a sweetness, a caress against his muddled thoughts. Spirit world, how had he been stuck there for so long?

What was happening? 'Where am I?', Mei thought, reaching out into empty space. He was staring up at the sky, breathing heavily. He looked at his hands, rolling onto his stomach, looking around wildly. "How did I...?", he spoke aloud, rising to his feet. A sharp pain pierced his mind, and he slumped forward, howling in agony, "Oh...God... What happened to me...?" Memories flashed before him, and he swiped at the air, attempting to bat them way. He leaned his head back slowly, massaging his temples. When did all of this happen? Why can't he remember how he got there? He took a step forward, finding that walking came as naturally as it had years ago. But not only that, he felt physically stronger, how long had been caught by that spirit?
How long has he failed all those who were depending on him to be there? He took another step forward, stretching as he moved, finding that his body ached all over. Another memory flashed before him, the sharp pains of tattooing equipment across his arms, down his back, his chest. He was still dressed in that damn uniform. General Mei Fong. He pulled his sleeves back, intricate flames, he removed his coat and accompanying undershirts, flames down his chest and on his shoulders. He looked down at his hands again, taking off his gloves, the flames wove their way down to his fingertips. How?
He turned around, finding himself facing an old man and younger woman, his granddaughter, maybe. "Excuse me...", he said, swallowing, "But can you tell me what year it is?" The words left the young girl's mouth and Mei visibly recoiled, flinched when he heard those words. Neither the man nor the woman understood why. He didn't even put his shirt or coat back on, merely grabbed them and started walking. He still had his sword, the dagger, the flask, all of his equipment. But he'd been missing for twelve years. He'd lost twelve years of his life. As he walked, he asked many a question of those he passed. Zulera was still ok, Tarek was Fire Lord, whispers of an enemy seeking to eliminate the Avatar existed. The world was in chaos.
