Personality: When considering everything being the worst about humanity in general being mired into one thing, it would be Horo in question as a result of his tendency to indulge in hedonism and depravity alike, in more ways than one, as a result of his insatiable greed born out of many lacking he had in life. Found wanting in general, and deprived of many things that others had, perhaps out of misfortunes, or merely out of station, whichever the case, Horo's eyes are lit up by greed, and the lack of moral restraint to attain the wealth he so covets. Nonetheless, he may ultimately prize material acquisition over moral victory, Horo has the good sensibilities to know restraint, to some degree, if only because it promises even greater wealth in his eternal pursuit for something grand as acquiring prizes to host power.
But he was not always like this, actually more subdued in the past, keeping calm, patient, and ultimately biding his time with self-assured promises that his effort would be met with some kind of reward. Once, believing that service to the Earth Kingdom is the ultimate form of reward, and as a result, was willing to do dirty work in that others would not, gladly, under command of superiors, taking lives if only because there was a clear, logical reasoning behind it. That did not hold truest any longer as he figured that his name would be stained as the actor of such atrocities, that he will be blamed by a weak and effete world, his commanders would gain medals, and he would be thrown into a dungeon as an inhuman monster. It was a point of no return, and he knew it, as a result, he gladly leaped off a cliff of complete unfettered lack of moral restraint so, in the name of full commitment, not perform his antics with half-hearted measures. Delay and hesitance are key between life and death. An attitude shaped out of being born from within the likes of the Great Divide, where life was tough, food were scarce, and mercy is often a trait which leaves you at the mercy of another's good will. Something that cannot, must NOT be afforded.
Defined by being undefinable in that his lack of consistency is a manner of consistency, the modus operandi is never to be cemented within a singular mode of thinking but rather to be spread as far and wide as one can, appropriate, in his judgement, for the situation, fittingly, in his eyes. It is best to say that human nature is one that is not exactly known except by repeat behaviour in traits manifesting throughout life and cemented downward as the typical thoughts of a person. But often they differentiate whenever they deviate from their mannerism, but nonetheless it is not seen as their "true" focus of their persona. That in mind, Horo is merely another repeat of that line of thought, but simplified in being noted for his actions are unconcerned for the welfare of the people, or anyone in general. Altruism does not come without an ulterior motive, and he rather not commit without some incentive to draw him in, like a viper hungry for the promise of succulent meat to come.
Outwardly, Horo seems a calm, rather benevolent and innocent looking man, whom always wears his face with a smile, and eyes contorted into a foxy veneer. He speaks with a soft, gentle voice, as his vocals aren't a guttural yodeling of a bandit, but as if that of an angelic man. The face of an angel, and yet the heart of the devil his vice, that were it not for those that know of his reputation from his old army days, would never take him at all for the kind of man who would stab his own grandmother for the chance to make money.
He finds flattery is the best form of disarming people, and a combat in itself, something that rinses out stagnation as he always has to keep up at the top of his game, just as much as fighting does. Being a loner means it's a necessity to have that skill, and being cordial while strangling someone is also in itself, a full dose of fun times for Horo. He, despite his modicum of behaviour, is far from consummate, but rather cruel and vicious.
Hatred does stem for those that do work for free, without expecting any sort of reimbursement of any kind, instead opting for some kind of good graces and thank yous, as opposed to something more spendable like cold hard cash, and actual equipment one can use, as a result, he holds a special disdain for goody two-shoes for how unrealistic they are, and furthermore, people whose thoughts of special privileges to come from birth, rather than merits. It's that sort of thought that got him ostracized in the first place. There is literally no landed rights he can expect for spending good will, when material wealth is the only thing he can delve into in order to advance forth in his lot over life, and even then, deprived of it further as his commission was stripped away when he deserted with some further scathing injuries to mark his departure.
Looking back at his actions and misdeeds, he doesn't regret it. Regret causes hesitation, and hesitation fosters loss of willful ability, hence the outlook, that, and he wasn't raised with such feeble thoughts in mind to have such vexed feelings of honour or the like. It merely is not a part of his upbringing, and he sees it as ultimately weird to abide by such a system when nothing guarantees the complete and utter following without some benefit to it. Such is his personal philosophy, and such is his nature to be as fleeting as the wind.
