Feren	Nights and nights Feren had pulled together to finally make his first real applicable invention. A tank. A tank that normal non-benders could use. It would open up jobs for them rather than just merchants or storekeepers. Benders had the cooler jobs. And that was just a fact of life. People with more skills can do more. Simple. But Feren, a fellow non-bender, wanted more for the regular people. Several designs he had gone through, not knowing which one to go with. They all had Pros and Cons. Most had more cons than Pros, and those he scrapped. It had been three days since he had gotten sleep. He stayed in his more than spacious garage and workplace. He hadn't even seen Saggittaria, His girlfriend, in those three days. He usually spent all of his time with her, but he thought it was time to start doing some work. He had several prototypes for the different types of cannons, shapes for the tanks, ways of transportation while using them. He just needed combinations that would work. Feren sat back in his chair, rubbing his bloodshot eyes underneath his glasses. It had been a while since he had gone this long without sleep.

Sagittaria Suki Svenja	Sagittaria tended to her business as she usually did, although it was nice to have Feren keeping her company again. However, even that wasn't happening lately with him working so hard on his next project. She hoped that he was alright. She knew how those kinds of people could get--sleep-deprived and what have you, among other things. And so, after the 3rd day, she decided to check up on him again. She had worked out a few business deals of her own and updated her shipping manifestos and records. after a while, she poked into Feren's workshop, a bit surprised at his state. "Hey..." she said softly, her familiar low voice filling his ears. "are you doing okay? It's been a while, and I just wanted to make sure you were okay..."

Feren	"Hmm?" Feren made a noise at her arrival. "Oh, yeah, I'm fine. It's nice to see you.." He said with the most tired voice a man could give. "I just, need to finish working. Almost done. Just a few more hours.." He almost nodded off at this point, but once his head hit the desk, he woke back up, shaking himself. "Just a few more hours..."

Sagittaria Suki Svenja	"Oh no you don't..." she snagged him by the collar of his shirt, "you're coming with me. you haven't slept in over a week and I think it's about high-time for you to rest... unless you'd rather your body shut down and you start randomly bleeding places." Sagittaria was a storyteller. she made up all kinds of wild things like this for various reasons, most of them good. She was really just trying to help Feren get some rest so he didn't go loopy from a lack of sleep--that was never fun.

Feren	Feren looked a little bit shocked at hearing that he might start bleeding from places. "U-uh, maybe I should go to bed.." He got out of his chair, and walked with her if she would take him somewhere. He was groggy and almost fell over a few times.

Sagittaria Suki Svenja	Sagittaria was completely lying about the bleeding from random places thing--she had just wanted top scare him into agreeing to get some sleep--because whether or not he was aware of it, he desperately needed it. "Aye," she nodded, "that's definitely for the best then..." she'd help guide and carry him to the bedroom, where she'd help him out of his clothes before helping him to sleep. Saj was still young and not quite the "motherly" type, but otherwise she'd help successfully get Feren to sleep in peace.

Feren	He was too tired to think rationally about the bleeding. He discarded his clothes as if not caring that he was stripping in front of his girlfriend, then laid down on the bed. Within seconds, he was midway through saying "Good Night", before falling asleep. And like that, he was out for probably the next 18 hours.

Sagittaria Suki Svenja	During the time that he was out, Saj worked on her regular business things, and also made sure that the house was in order, because she didn't really have anything else going on either. Not that Feren wasn't attractive undressed, but there was more to life than just physical attraction. Besides, Saj had been single for years before this, and so she took care of business manifests, shipping records, and all kinds of other boring paperwork that was required to keep the Zulera City port of the Svenja Shipping Company open. However, by the time Feren woke up, he'd find Sagittaria snuggled next to him, fast asleep--for she needed sleep too, even if she didn't need 18 hours of it at one time.

Feren	It was a few hours he had woken up. He did some things with Saj, then after she went to a meeting, he went back to the workshop to get working again. He had some many combinations that could work, but what would perform the best? Should he make multiples for different situations? No, that wouldn't work if the city was attacked. It would be likely that the wrong machine would be in the wrong area when something went down. These tanks would be firing a special ammunition. There were very rare weapons that shot solid balls of lead, but that wouldn't cut it for the rapid-fire that he was thinking of, because the loose powder and the ammo came separately. They had to be loaded together for his design, and so he had to come up with a new ammo. Nothing had been built yet, but he was sure it would work. His normal routine of just winging things would not work this time. Everything had to be carefully planned first. Over the next few hours of looking at pros and cons of everything, he came to a decision. This would be it. image:

Sagittaria Suki Svenja	Sagittaria tended to her daily business as she always did, for she did still have a job and such. But, it was not a 24-hour thing, and so she had plenty of time to be home with Feren and help give him tips or tricks or marketing ideas for his newest creations. They were quite a brilliant pair of minds together, or so the firebender thought. anyhoo, to cut a long story short, she eventually came home and decided to poke around Feren's workshop, figuring that she'd find its owner soon enough. "Heya," she waved as she came inside, "whatcha up to today?" She knew that he had been working on something big, and wanted to see now what it was.

Feren	The Engineer was so focused on his work, that Saj coming in didn't even register. But her speaking did. Feren almost literally jumped in his seat, banging his knee against the table as Saj said 'Heya'. It scared the daylights out of him. "Ow! Dang it! D-don't sneak up on me like that Saj!" He sat back down, putting his papers back in place. "Yeah, I uh, finished the tank design. I'll probably start making a small prototype today, and start the life size one tomorrow. Do you think we have enough lumber for the porto?" He pushed the design to Saj for her to look at.

Sagittaria Suki Svenja	Sagittaria admittedly jumped a bit too when Feren jumped and cried out, but she collected herself a second later and chuckled. "alright, alright... sorry. Not like I meant to or anything." Truly she had not, but she'd remember this for next time. "well... let's see it then..." she stepped over next to him to look at the designs. She was not the most expert of builders, but she had at least a bit of know-how in that regard. "I'd say we do," she nodded, "We might cut it close, but I can arrange to have more shipped in if that happens, so we should be fine. Are we ready to start building?"

Feren	Feren turned to her and smiled. "We are." He replied to her question. "Where are the supplies stored? I would like to get working on it." He got up from his chair, looking around in search.

"they're down in the basement storage where they always are." she reminded him. there were stairs leading to this basement from Feren's workshop and also from the main house, so that there would be no real qay to block it off. "want me to come with you to get them?"

Sagittaria Suki Svenja	Sagittaria gave another chuckle. "you might be a little more sleep-deprived than I thought!" she joked, "we might have to put you back in bed." she wasn't actually serious, although she might not have minded another little romp or something. But, for now, it was business time. And sure enough, the lumber and other supplies were back in the basement where they had always been, neatly organized by type just as all the rest of their supplies were. It was part of being a businesswoman who had to organize goods from industries when she shipped them--so Saj was a very organized woman.

Feren	He looked at all the supplies, especially the lumber. "You want to help me bring a bunch of this stuff up? I'm going to need a few of everything, so pick up just about anything." Feren suggested as he started to pile wood into a stack, then picking it up and carrying it back up the stairs.

Sagittaria Suki Svenja	"Ha... sure thing." Saj smirked. "Let's see if I can do this..." Sagittaria was also stronger than she appeared, and her organizational skills were not just for storing objects--she knew just how to place objects in her arms so that she could carry the maximum amount in a single trip. She got a few pieces of wood, and a few other gizmos and gadgets, stacking them neatly onto a counter before lifting them into her arms and heading up the stairs after him. "Need more?" she asked, "or is this good for now?" she'd be fine with making another trip if needs be--it wasn't like it was a long or tedious walk.

Feren	"Yes, that's fine. If you wouldn't mind though, just one more pile and I should be good for an hour or two." He smiled, even though by now she wouldn't be able to see it as his back was turned. He walked to the middle of the shop floor, where there was a big open space for construction and other things, and dropped the lumber there. After taking a few choice peices of wood and dragging them where he would want them, he went to his workbench, got some tools and his plans, and brought them over to the pile.

Sagittaria Suki Svenja	"gotcha..." Saj smiled, "mind if I watch, or would you rather have your space?" she understood that some people did not like being watched or monitored while they worked, and Sagittaria was more than happy to respect that. Otherwise, she'd go ahead and grab another pile of things, returning a few minutes later and adding the new resources to the original pile. "Is that enough?" if he wanted privacy, she'd tend to other business, but if he was fine with her watching him work (and maybe adding pointers or what have you), she would happily join him.

Feren	"Uh, sure. You can watch if you want. Might be boring, and this is going to take a while." He explained over his shoulder, placing wood in place and measuring it, making marks with a small pencil to be cut. "Like, a long while." He picked up the board and carried it over to a larger saw, set it on and pulled goggles over his face, beginning to cut.

Sagittaria Suki Svenja	Sagittaria chuckled. "can't be more boring than filing business paperwork. I guess my dad wasn't kidding when he said that it was tedious. No wonder he always tried getting me to do it before he'd promote me to manager..." she chuckled, and then disappeared, reappearing a few minutes later with a pen and a stack of papers, which she started going through as she worked with trade agreements, account records, business manifests, and other such boring things. But, at least they could keep each other company, right?
