Robin Miyamoto	The very air around Zulera City brought happiness to Robin. the city itself was a brilliantly-designed mix of intellect and cooperation from hundreds if not thousands of people, and Robin appreciated that sort of planning. She felt it ironic that such a meticulously designed city was now a home of so much lawlessness, but on the other hand, most of the city that was not considered the rotten underbelly was a stable and prosperous place. Only the weak and the naive were victims to the malice of the system, but Robin had no sympathy for them. They were pawns in a plan. If Zulera could take several difficult and elaborate steps to make this city possible, she too could achieve her ambitions by doing the same. For the time though, she was merely walking in the park, admiring the beauty. the Avatar had made sure that there were numerous parks in the city, so that it would not become an urban wasteland, and so that it could provide for itself. At this park seated at one of a few chess tables, was a man playing by himself. Well... maybe it was just the intellectual in her or maybe it was a competitive drive, but she wanted to play against him. "Excuse me," she explained politely, stepping towards the chair opposite him, "is this seat taken at all?" If he was just waiting for a friend to get back, she'd be on her way, but if not, she'd happily sit down and hopefully engage in a game.

Salvatore Maranzano	Salvatore Maranzano, or mostly known as 'Zano', was sitting in one of the many local parks in Zulera City. He had been enjoying a small game of chess on one of the chess boards that were in the place with himself. Switching the roles, refining his strategy against himself. He had done this several times that day, and he always came to a draw at the very end, King against the King. Almost impossible for a normal game, but at that point the game was decided at whoever went first. He was about to end another game, trying from a different angle this time, when a girl around her... early 30's, Zano would guess, came and asked him if the opposite chair was taken. "No, no, go ahead. I'm glad to have someone to play with." He set the pieces back up, setting the King back down last. He reseated himself, straightened his back and cleared his throat. "Do you wish to go first?" He asked politely.

Robin Miyamoto	Robin seated herself in a dignified manner not unlike royalty. She remained very well-groomed, and kept good posture and a polite stance. "Alright then... let's play a game." she made her first move, taking an offensive position right away as she began setting up her game. She knew that if this man was playing by himself like this, that he would be a worthy opponent by all means, and so despite her own considerable skill at this game, she suspected that it would end in a stalemate unless one of them made a classical blunder. "You can call me Robin, by the way." she smiled, deciding that they might as well know each other's names. Robin's real name was irrelevant anyways--she never used it anymore, and had no plans of doing so, and so even though it was technically an alias--she was best known as Robin.

Salvatore Maranzano	Zano looked at the board, and took a full 15 seconds before making his next move, also an offensive position. "Many people know me as Zano." He looked back up as he said this, looking straight into her eyes. He could tell by the way her first move was quick, and how she seated herself, and her dress, and her choice of picking him as an opponent. She had probably seen that he was playing alone and thought him worthy.

Robin Miyamoto	A thinker... Robin smirked as he took his time making his next move. It was true that only the first move could be made lightning quickly, for then the rest of the calculation came into play. How would the opponent react, and what would be the best way to re-react to it? Robin knew the tricks himself. "So... do you come here often?" she was trying to get to know a little bit about this man, who based on his own style of speech, behavior, and appearance, was clearly a fellow intellectual. She was not trying to be intrusive, per se; she simply wanted to know about the man she was up against. "because if you do..." she added, almost playfully, "perhaps we could make this a regular occurrence of sorts?" It was just a simple suggestion, really. It was clear as they both took several seconds to make their moves, that this would be a glorious game for the record books--and that was exactly what Robin liked.

Salvatore Maranzano	Zano took his time again to make his move before speaking, once again staring at the board. Her moves were... Interesting, to say the least. But he had fought others like her. Always had different ways of doing things. And he always trumped them. "I come here most mornings. Though, not every one I play chess. I like to," He took a pause here and looked to the main bulk of the park to his left. "Watch the birds, and read a book." He looked back at her. "What about you?"

Robin Miyamoto	As they got deeper and deeper into their game, Robin had to take more and more time to contemplate her next move. She did speak a few times during moves, but not as a distractory method. her fingers touched none of the pieces except on her turn, where a single piece was touched and moved. Touching a piece meant you had to move it, after all. "I like taking walks sometimes..." she admitted truthfully, "and getting to know new people. Sometimes I spar with them, even. Are you a bender at all by chance?" her tone was polite and entirely just curious. She did not think any less of nonbenders, nor did she think benders were superior. "Not that it makes any real difference," she chuckled softly, "many of the greatest intellectuals are not; I am merely curious." On the other hand, while it also seemed that she was trying to butter him up, she really wasn't. He was just the first man in a long time to interest the white-haired firebender, and so she wanted to know more about him.

Salvatore Maranzano	Zano had a particularly easy time with this 'Robin'. He kept using the same amount of time to make each move, but it was always simple ones. At the mention of him bending, he took his turn, then looked up at her. "I am not, and I am sorry. And thank you for the remark." If she was as smart as she seemed, she would understand what he was saying, referring to the best of intellectuals not being benders.

Robin Miyamoto	Robin laughed, catching his reference. "On the other hand, there are plenty of wise and powerful intellectuals that are..." she quipped. Bending had no impact for better or for worse one someone's base intelligence. She was pretty certain that her firebending did not intrude on her intellect. "Check," she slid a knight into place. It was a bold gambit, but she was certain that he would catch it. Not that it would end the game either way though--it was just a very advantageous move for her to make.

Salvatore Maranzano	He ignored the comment about the intellectuals. She was obviously someone who liked to be better than others. And Zano did not fit in that category. Zano took out the knight with his queen, acting a little too quickly. "Check." He claimed himself. The game would be over soon.

Robin Miyamoto	There was certainly a competitive spirit engrained deep in this young firebender's spirit, but she was not one to push a subject like that. All it ever did was make people mad, and Robin was not the type to make someone mad unless there was something to be gained from it. this time Robin took a defensive maneuver, setting her pieces in such a way that almost looked like she was preparing a defensive counterattack, much like how she could absorb and then redirect lightning. one thing was certain though--this Zano fellow was definitely a cunning man and a worthy opponent. Robin definitely approved of him.

Salvatore Maranzano	Through her maneuver, Zano was able to take out a few of her pawns, as he pressed his advantage, but still had pieces guarding his king. This was one strategy that he'd never lost with, even against himself. Still Zano thought little of this Robin's skill. The entirety through this game, he was pondering her name. Actually, it was what he spent most of the game thinking about, rather than the game itself. He had heard this name pop up before. It was side conversation he had heard. But what was she connected to?

Robin Miyamoto	Robin worked to ensure that any of the vantage points between Zano's pieces and her own king were protected, so that she could use her pieces offensively when the time came without them being pinned. She wondered who he was. His own name had come up a bit and so was also trying to find out what he was willing to reveal about himself--which was not much. She was familiar enough with the world of crime though, and so understood his reasoning even if neither one said a word. "Check," she retorted again as she slid her rook down the board, landing it on a spot backed again by one of her knights. On the other hand, she didn't have to be the only one asking questions. She'd answer a few of his if he had any, but would not give off any hints of this willingness or anything.

Salvatore Maranzano	Once again, Zano seemed a little too eager to take out her rook with his queen, again, calling "Check." He kept a straight face. If anything, it was as slight frown compared to before. Robin! it had clicked in his mind. She was the one who practically led another mafia. A small group compared to his that now covered the Fire Nation and most of the Earth Kingdom. She was mistaken if she thought she was going to bring more conflict to the already infested Zulera City. There is already one mafia that is dug in too deep. He did not have room for another.

Robin Miyamoto	Robin could not help but grin deviously as he took her rook--that was a near fatal mistake--or perhaps that "classic blunder" that she had mused about before playing. "Ah, ah..." she merely said, shifting her knight from its square to the one where her rook had been--and that was thus occupied now by Zano's queen up until her knight replaced it. "check." There was still a way out (ergo, it was not checkmate yet, but the scales had certainly been tipped in Robin's favor after that. Zano... she was pretty sure that he ran some sort of shady business or something, which was fine with her. She didn't need his permission to operate in Zulera City though, nor would she ask for it. She would simply do what she needed to do, and remind anyone who tried to stop her, who was in control...

Robin Miyamoto	"Ah, ah!" Robin chuckled again, about to move her king before realizing that a spot she thought was open was actually not. "Alack, alay! I was careless!" she mourned, "but a loss is a loss, and the sign of a true master is to not only fight with honor, but to accept defeat with grace. Thank you for this match." She offered her hand politely. There were no hidden words or undertones in any of her expressions. "We shall have to play again sometime," she suggested, "maybe I should also take a tour of CabbageCorp one of these days..." Yeah, she knew about his CEO-dom of the company, although she had been hiding during most of the recent exploits, and so was not sure about the story behind it. She didn't figure that mattered though. What she did know, was that she wanted to learn more about this man.

Salvatore Maranzano	Zano smiled a little at her alacking, and took her hand, shaking it as he stood up. "Maybe again one of these days, we might play again." He was half-turned when she mentioned CabbageCorp. He turned back to her and replied, "Maybe I should visit your own little posse sometime." He then turned around, clearing his throat once more, and began walking away. Leaving his chess pieces, with his Rook over her King.

Robin Miyamoto	"So that's it then..." Robin chuckled, "a tour of CabbageCorp in return for a tour of the Power Plant? it's dreadfully boring, but I suppose that can be arranged." In truth, if Robin did tour the company, she didn't expect to find anything unusual, although the notion of technological wonders and such would intrigue her--as would any subtle difference in manufacturing styles and business practices compared to the much family-friendlier automobile-manufacturerr Tallarico Industries. It was one of a few business that most crime lords didn't dare touch, since not only were the owners competent at defending their "turf", but they were also direct relatives of the Avatar, who was not afraid to be Zulera City's enforcer while she drew breath. Otherwise, she was fairly interested in this man's "posse" just as he was with hers. Hers was much smaller and less formal anyways, she figured.

Salvatore Maranzano	"Maybe." He called, still facing the way he was walking. A Power Plant, huh? When she mentioned his CabbageCorp, she was obviously referring to his Mafia Empire. And in turn, she spoke about her Power Plant. That's where she had her gang working, supposedly. He would have to dig up more on this Robin. And what her plans for the City were.

Robin Miyamoto	"Or perhaps it's just a crew of mild-mannered workers..." Robin snapped her fingers, making a lightning spark appear between them. "the power plant isn't too hard to find though--just follow the wires." The advantage she had was that she had essentially a monopoly on the city's power, and operated it carefully enough as to not draw ire or attention from Zulera--in other words, perfectly normal so far. She did not have enough enmies yet for that to change.
