Taeo allowed the tapper inside, then resumed helping his mother. She was going to give birth, right in this dingy hole. His siblings were under the yard, playing. His father had bended a tunnel to the mines, to work. They'd need the money if there was going to be another mouth to feed. He mopped his mother's sweating brow with a washcloth, then turned to the tapper, who he saw in the small light was Chase. "Help?" He said quietly.

Chase Scylla	"Umm...umm..." Chase ran back up and out the door. He grabbed the yellow stuff that the woman had left and brought it back. "A woman who claimed she was a doctor said this would help.

Fujin Kaze	"Oh you little thing. I didn't know you were coming." said the black haired girl as she hugged Fujin. "Pretend you're a friend of mine and you'll be well paid." she whispered to Fujin. Before Fujin could speak, things got heated quickly, metaphorically and literally. The three of them conversed a bit more, until the sandy haired man resigned into the house followed by the red haired woman bending a ring of fire around the house. The familiar black haired girl then turned to Fujin, announcing that the two were off after placing a vial onto the ground. Things were going a bit too fast, even for him. "Whoa wait a sec, why should I have to pretend when you owe me anyway?! Remember, you pushed me away and bought my guide right from under me?! I don't know why you want to pretend or con these people from what but consider this payback from the Si Wong Desert." with that Fujin gently pushed the black haired girl away from him. He then bent his knees and with airbending, blasted himself towards the bright red ring of fire that surrounded the house. When close enough, Fujin then waved towards the flames blasting and air creating an opening momentarily through the thick flames for Fujin to fly through. Landing in a run he ran into the house and straight to the young red haired girl's face and stopped in his tracks. Looking straight at her he said. "Hey hothead! I don't know who that girl is and like I said before...I was just curious. Now this was none of my business...until I heard something about someone in danger and from the look on both your faces, it couldn't be farther from the truth." Fujin's face softened at that point, and then he continued to speak. "You put this ring of fire I assume to protect you from her and....apparently me. I'm here to tell you I'm not gonna harm anyone. So if your worried about her, I'll deal with her, if your worried about me then deal with me right now! Because if you keep this area on fire any longer, your putting whoever your protecting in danger! Firebender or not, fire is wild, you should know that!" Fujin finished his speech and stood straight and with a slightly serious look but otherwise blank face. Ready to either help them or fight them.

Alxina raised her eyebrow at this speech. Apparently, the airbender knew something of fire. She stopped feeding the flames, and they began to die almost instantly. "There's a woman inside. About to give birth. Chase, my friend, he took the vial the "doctor" had left. But I don't trust her. What do you know of her?"

He took the vial from Chase, opened it, and sniffed it carefully. It's odor was strong, and made you feel...sleepy. He didn't know what it was, or where it came from, but anything was better than nothing. He gave his mother the drink, and she automatically went lax. He didn't know what to do next, so he walked outside and found Alxina, talking to someone. "Alxina? I need your help...

Fujin Kaze	"My doc' used to tell me to stay out of trees, that's the craziest doctor I've ever seen." Fujin said almost to himself than to the firebender, and he chucked a little. "I know absolutely nothing about her, we just met once at Si Wong Desert where she bought out my desert escort from me." said with a little annoyance. "All this speaking of a doctor tells me we should actually be finding ONE. I don't know Omashu very well, maybe someone from your group can find one while the other tends to the pregnant lady?" Fujin continued. He then looked outside the window in search for the girl he just left. "I don't see that girl anywhere so that's one less thing to worry about but don't keep your guard down. If you need me to do anything, just say the word." Fujin finished with a wink and a smile.

Alxina looked up from the stranger,. Taeo was covered in a thick layer of dirt. She automatically stood up. "What's wrong?" She asked, then, not waiting for his answer, or answering the stranger, she walked into the house, below the stove, and looked over his mother. She was now almost in a dreamlike state, so this would be easy....

Two hours later, a child's cry filled the house. Alxina wrapped her in a blanket, and handed her to Taeo's mother, who she'd moved upstairs onto one of the more comfortable couches. Then, Alxina walked outside, washed her bloody hands off in a small stream. She looked at Taeo's anxious face, then motioned for him to go inside.

Chase Scylla	"Sooo...when did you learn to deliver babies?" Chase asked, once again impressed with his friend. He gave her a smile, knowing that Alxina was probably his best friend, she was so strong and sure of herself, almost the opposite of Chase really.[/color]

Taeo sat on the porch, waiting. He watched the sun pass in the sky, then put his head in his hands, waiting. He was trusting Alxina with his mother's life, and his new sibling's. He prayed that nothing would go wrong.

The sun had moved considerably when Alxina came outside and washed her hands off. She looked at him and jerked her head toward the house. He instantly stood and walked inside. He found his mother on the couch in the living room, holding a tiny bundle. He stepped closer to see it clearly. She was small, with thick black hair covering the top of her head. Her cheeks were bright pink, and her large brown eyes looked around. She'd stopped crying a while ago. He swallowed, and took her from his mother's arm. He began to rock her gently to sleep, while his mother drifted off. Once the baby was asleep, he made a stone crib, and laid a soft blanket inside it. All of his siblings had slept in stone cribs. He set his new little sister in the crib, then walked outside.

"Thank you, Xina." He said gratefully.

"My mother helped plenty of women who couldn't make it to town, or afford a doctor. I learned when I was young." She said darkly. Everything seemed to revolve around her stupid past.

Taeo had walked outside a bit dazedly. "Thank you, Xina." He said. She nodded slightly, allowing him to call her Xina, just this once. "How's your mother?" She asked. She was still worried about the medicine Taeo had given her, from Shiva.

Fujin Kaze	"Eh? Fine..ignore me.." said Fujin with a feigned disdained look. He then noticed the firebender moving into action, he stayed back at a respectful distance due to not knowing anyone, and not wanting to get in the way. More than a few times Fujin wanted to just leave, staying around was out of his character but he did want to make sure everything went smoothly for the expecting mother. After 2 hours later, a cry filled the house. Oh apparently we found the doctor... mused Fujin to himself. He noticed the firebender bringing in a dark brown haired man and the sandy haired man, who Fujin believed was Chase, followed in pursuit. Not wanting to be disrespectful but neither alone, he followed the group as well.

Chase Scylla	Chase let the two talk for a bit and walked over to the airbender. He felt like he might have given his name, but Chase had forgotten if he did."Hey there! My name is Chase, umm...I don't believe I know yours." Chase smiled widely at another new friend. He was obviously very trustworthy.

"It was nothing, really." She said to Taeo.

"Sorry about ignoring you earlier." She told the stranger. She wasn't used to apologizing, but she did feel a bit guilty. He didn't really seem dangerous. Of course, airbenders hardly ever did.

Fujin Kaze	"No you don't, but I know yours Chase, your firebender friend mentioned you." Fujin stated as a matter of factly, then realized how rude he has been, by not giving his name a second time. "Oh, sorry my name is Fujin. Fujin Kaze from the Eastern Air Temple. I wasn't expecting to actually stay around so I didn't introduce myself. Nice to meet you Chase." said Fujin with one of his infamous smiles. "Sorry about ignoring you earlier." said the firebender to Fujin. "Hey don't sweat it. I'm used to it with the elder monks mediating and all. I'm Fujin Kaze from the Eastern Air Temple, might I know yours, Ms. Frightening Firebending Doctor of Omashu?" inquired Fujin.

Taeo walked back inside to visit his new little sister. His mother was alert now, cooking in the kitchen. She always did this after giving birth, for some reason. He looked at the little baby, fast asleep in the stone crib. He tucked the blankets around her more securely. He hoped in his heart of hearts that maybe one day, she'd be an earthbender. He watched her sleeping for a little while, then went to get his siblings from under the yard.

They were playing a game in the stone cavern, and he told them to come inside and help their mother, the baby was sleeping so be quiet, and then maybe later he'll give them a little treat for helping. So of course, they went inside eagerly and helped his mother, while he sealed the stove above the secret room securely once again.

He walked outside afterwards. "Dinner will be ready soon." He said, then returned inside to boil the roots they found at the edge of the stream.

She really smiled for the first time since her mother had died. Frightening, he called her. She liked it. "I'm Alxina. From the village of Shu Jing." She told him.

"Dinner will be ready soon." Taeo's voice came from behind her. Dinner? Why in the world would his mother be cooking? She walked inside, and insisted that she be allowed to help.

Fujin Kaze	Alxina smiled at Fujin and while she was naturally pretty her smile accentuated her appearance. Fujin truly wanted to compliment how captivated he was at that moment. "Nice to meet you Alxina and I couldn't help but notice..that your not so bad when you actully smile." Fujin grimaced slightly at his inability to appropriately compliment Alxina, his words failing him. It was at that moment that he heard someone announce that dinner would be ready soon and Alxina turned her attention towards the kitchen. He silently thanked the heavens and turned towards Chase to chat while they waited for dinner to be ready. "Hey Chase so earlier I heard some fighting and noticed some signs of fire and water. I take it Alxinas a firebender but would it be wrong to assume your a waterbender?"

Chase Scylla	"Why yes! I am indeed a waterbender. Yeah me and Alxina were sparring and she bested me. She is quite clever and tricky. I'm surprised she was able to best me and Kingfisher." Chase pulled out the humongeous hook on chain, with the little metal ball filled with water on it. "Do you have a weapon?"

Fujin Kaze	"That's a nice pet, quite clever." Fujin says as he admires Kingfisher. He noticed the way the ball bounced around that it was full of water. He appreciated the concept of Kingfisher. "I do have a weapon. It's just a long sword nothing special, but I made sure that it's extremely light weight and balanced enough for my airbending style." Fujin finished while he unsheathed his sword from the back in the blink of an eye, and quickly slashed 2 times in front of himself away from Chase.

Chase Scylla	"Nice and practical, it is quite speedy, well...you are quite speedy I mean. I'm not sure I could handle movements that quick. Do you ever use your airbending in combination?" Chase sat down in a chair, at the table he assumed dinner would be served on. Chase sniffed the air and whatever was cooking smelt sensational, he took a deep breath of the scent in. His stomach growled as he did.

Fujin Kaze	"Yeah, it's actually part of the reason I can unsheathe and swing my sword so quickly, i bend the air to push and give my sword arm to speed my momentum." finished Fujin as he sheathed his sword and took a seat next to Chase. It was then that he wondered if he was even invited for dinner and whose house this belonged to anyway. Fujin produced 2 gold coins from his wallet and held them up before Chase. "Is this your house? I'm starving I would love to oin dinner, I'll pay for the inconveniece." offered Fujin.

Chase Scylla	"Oh no, this isn't my house. I'm from the Northern Water Tribe, and me and Alxina are traveling in the Earth Kingdom. This is Taeo's house. I'm sure he'd appreciate the offer." Chase wondered how Fujin didn't catch that Taeo's pregnant mother and siblings were here. Then again, maybe he thought they were just visiting Chase at the time. Either way Chase didn't mind Fujin's small mistake, and gave him his standard smile that he usually wore.
