Personality: Axel is very intellectual and wise. He is serious about everything, though he smiles and laughs about everything. He does this to cover up the pain that he holds within himself. He is bold and courageous. He fights fatally and does not enjoy sparring. He believes his bending should only be used to make things easier or to engage in lethal combat. He enjoys little things in life like when a butterfly escapes from a cat.

Abilities: Axel is a gembender, he bends crystals of all types. Most commonly is some type of peridot-colored crystal. His fighting is based on dancing. He does a beautiful dance when fighting and it proves well. When in critical condition, he often embodies himself within crystal armour. While in this armor he is, strangely, a lot faster. When dancing, he uses to circles with multiple blade sticking out of them.

Appearance: Axel stands at 6 feet 2 inches. He has shoulder length hair that stands tall and spiky, it is autumn red. His skin is very pale. Axel wears a long black robe. The robe is tied together with small silver chains. He has a black marking below each of his metallic green eyes. Under Axel's robe is mostly bandages and thin green clothes. His arms and legs are fully bandaged. Think of it as a training outfit, but he only fights in it. When moving through towns he puts his hood up, this way nobody notices who he is or sees his face. He also usually is blindfolded by a black piece of material. He is not blind, in fact, he has perfect eye sight. He does this as part of a constant training session. He believes if he sees with his feet then it will make him better at earthbending when he takes the blindfold off to fight.

History: Axel was born in the Earth Kingdom capital of Ba Sing Se. He lived in the lower, more poor, and criminalized part of the city. There he stayed under a bridge with his mother, father, three sisters, and four brothers. He was the second youngest. Of all his siblings, he was closest to his younger brother (who was the youngest of all eight children).

Him and his little brother, Riku, spent every day and night together. They would always sneek away from the bridge and go into an alley, where they would practice earthbending. They practiced and practiced every night. One night they saw their father jump out of a store window with a basket and run. Axel realized he wasn't the only one sneeking away at night, he also found out how they would always have enough food to feed the family. Axel told Riku and they both cried. They keep practicing like this and seeing their father steal for 5 years.

After the 5 years, Axel was 12 and Riku was 11. They had been fairly good at Earthbending by now, considering their age. Axel had somehow taken on the art of gembending, Riku the art of metalbending. One day as they watched their father stealing food, he was tackled by a city guard. Riku had ran at the guard and attemped to metalbend a spike through him. The guard stopped the spike in mid air and then grabbed Riku and threw hum at a wall. Then the guard stabbed their father and killed him. Riku cried as Axel stood and watched in shock. The guard yelled at them and they ran home. They arrived back under the bridge when they saw that both of their brothers and one of their sisters had died. They each had scars and crushed bones, bloddied all over. Their mother was crying and screaming. They approached their two remaining sisters, who were also crying. One of them had told the story. Apparently, a couple of guards had arrived under the bridge and spoke to them about their fathers thievery. They had told them that they knew nothin. The guard angrily crushed the three children and killed them, and then left. The mother had been gone down the river, and the two alive girls had been hiding.

2 years later, Axel had grown to the age of 14, Riku at the age of 13. Their mother had passed away of sickness with another of their sisters. The last sister passed a year ago from drowning in the river. By now, it was only Axel and Riku. Just like their father, they stole their food. They hated the Earth Kingdom and its laws. They dreamed of assasinating the Earth King, and breaking down the walls of the city to allow intruders to come in. One night, as they were passing through the shops, they came across an odd feminine figure in a black cloak, head covered by a hood. The lady spoke "Alas boy, you are in my presents and I am honored. You have been kept safe, guarded by a secret organization. We call ourselves the Kira. We have hunted down and killed many government officials. We do this because we have all suffered the pain of this horrid monarchy of earth. We believe you could be the one to stop the Earth King from his unjust laws. We have watched you many years, and your training has proven well. You could restore our happiness, but first, you must stop loving and caring. You must first lose all that is precious to you.". The lady watched Riku for a few seconds, she then appeared behind him in an instance and palmed him in the back of the skull. He fell to the ground dead. Axel instantly created a wall of crystals around her. Then threw thousands in tiny crystals into the walls and inside her. She died. He approached the body and took the cloak off, after removing all of the gems. She infact, wasn't unknown. It was his mother. Why would she do this, what was her purpose. This is the part of his history he may never know. He put the cloak on and from this day forward, he dreamt of being the Earth King, and getting rid of all the unjust laws.
He was nicknamed Pheonix by many people because of his hair. He is still refered to as the Pheonix.
