Personality: Mae Tai is a graceful girl who is very level headed. She is kind to those who look like they need help and she tends to see past rudeness. Her attitude most of the time is calm, but she can get snappy if somebody crosses her comfort line. She tends to be a little bit on the funny side, not serious. Mae knows when times are serious, and she knows how to act.

Abilities: Mae Tai is a great water bender, although, she does not seem to use her powers as often as most. She can blood bend, but she refuses to do it again. Mae works at her own 'paan-ya' in the Earth Kingdom. There she sells many breads, cakes, and has special types of teas and soups. She has a Inn/living quarters above the shop itself, where she and many travelers tend to stay. Mae, has many travelers a day come in to eat and sleep, while many locals pick up bread from her.

Appearance: Although Mae Tai is a water bender from the Southern Water Tribe, she dresses like a citizen of the Earth Kingdom since she works and resides in Omashu. Mae has long auburn hair and jade green eyes full of sorrow. She has a golden tan, since she hardly ever is outside due to work. Her hair usually is tied back into a long braid that reaches her mid waist, something that was common in the Water Tribes. She wears a soft green tunic over pale red-brown pants. Mae usually has that frantic look of somebody in a hurry, but she treats every customer with kindness.

History: Mae Tai was born in the Southern Water Tribe and was raised there for quite some time. Her uncle, Rui Tai, was teaching her how to Waterbend. The sessions of teaching usually lasted about 12 hours each, spending most of the time meditating. She enjoyed learning, but often grew tired of the practice. Her uncle eventually, looking for better ways for her, moved her out of the Southern Water Tribe and into Omashu. This is where she finally learned what had happened to her parents. They were killed in battle, when she was only one year old. By the time she arrived in Omashu with her uncle, she was 12 years old and was prepared for the best and worst. Her uncle began to grow very ill and she used her cooking skills to open a stand. This is where she worked selling water tribe seaweed bread. People that had a taste for culture would buy it from her, but it was not a common thing around the Earth kingdom. She worked hard to earn money so she could support her uncle and house. By the time she was 14 she finally opened her own shop. She had changed what she had been selling when she was 13 and that year had made enough money to open her own tavern. Her uncle remained ill, and still is, as he begins to worsen, she works even harder. She now makes a varity of foods that are common in the Earth Kingdom, as well as teas they all enjoy, including: Ginseng, Lychee, Jasmine, and White Dragon bush. She basically supports herself, and doesn't have time to deal with everything. Mae has always dreamed of a day where she would meet some friends, but she has always been too busy. Her only 'friends' are those who are travelers and rest there, and re-visiting locals. She will listen to the travelers stories when she isn't taking orders. All of her customer she knows by name, except for the ones that come in for the first time.

Mae Tai

The night grew later, and the sky outside was growing darker. Mae Tai braced herself, unsure as to who may arrive at these later hours. She always got excited when nighttime came, because she knew that would mean travelers, and the more travelers, the mores stories she would hear. Mae quickly went up the short stone staircase, and opened the latch, pushing open the hatch. She brushed a fallen piece of her auburn hair out of her eyes and then tip-toed down the hall as she looked at the 6 doors. The last one on the left lead to the largest room, which occupied two beds, one with her ill uncle, and the other where she slept. The others were all empty, from the travelers who had left that morning. She opened each of the doors, except her own, and checked to make sure they were ready for new residents. Mae nodded and went back down the latch and down the stone stairs. She went over to the kitchen corner, and started some new tea.
