Personality: (40) Yu Ping, or Poisonous Yu Ping as he is known, is a very cold and harsh individual. He does not believe in moral absolutes, good and evil, right or wrong. There is a simple truth, that the strong survive and the weak perish. He is self-reliant and self-serving, always challenging himself. He does not give out charity, and only aids others when it serves his purposes. He co-exists with others peacefully, so long as they keep their distance and do not disturb him.

Abilities: (40) Poisonous Yu Ping is a master of Serpent Fist, one of the martial arts styles that utilizes chi-blocking to disable the bending abilities of opponents. The style, much like a snake's poison, can temporarily disable enemies with quick strikes and jabs to pressure points all over the body, rendering them defenseless against the following barrage of punches and kicks. He is also a highly talented acrobat, able to traverse small distances and obstacles easily, and is skilled in the use of the longsword and staff, though he seldomly uses them.

Appearance: (60) A fierce looking man with strong, bold features, Yu is rarely troubled by even the most courageous of souls. One look at his often grim expression and icy demeanor is enough to send passersby to the other side of the street to avoid him. He wears white robes over his black and white training gi, which he will only shed when he takes a fight seriously. His charcoal black hair is well-groomed and neat, and he sometimes sports a thin goatee, though he is usually cleanshaven.

History: (120) Poisonous Yu Ping earned his name not only from the fighting style he has mastered but for the act of treachery that he is rumored to have committed. It is believed by those who have heard of Poisonous Yu Ping that he studied under Chao Zheng the Merciless since he was a small child. Yu was found by Chao at a very early age, and adopted. Some say he was the youngest son of a prominent firebender who offended Master Zheng, and was promptly struck down. Others claim that Yu was the bastard son of a colleague of Zheng's who was slain by pirates. Whatever his origins may be, what IS known, or believed at least, is that Yu Ping killed Chao Zheng on the master's 80th birthday, some 9 years ago. Since then, some have sought out Yu Ping to learn the ways of the Serpent Fist. The lucky ones are simply refused and return home. The unlucky ones are brutally injured attempting to prove themselves worthy of teaching, and the unluckiest learn the most terrible lesson of all.

Poisonous Yu Ping

Yu sat in quiet contemplation in the shade of a large, dying tree on the top of the hill, his eyes closed. Down in the valley, by a great river about an hour's walk from the small home he had taken on the hill, was the tiny nameless fishing village where he went to buy food. The villagers there knew of him, and offered what little Master Yu Ping needed to survive freely to him. It was a token of respect, respect that he well deserved, Yu mused. Today however, there had been a lot of commotion from down by the river. His curiosity had been piqued, but as he was in the middle of training at the time, Yu had decided to make a trip down to the village in the afternoon. Before he had even finished his third set of morning exercises, the commotion had ceased. Now, here he sat, wondering if he should even bother to make the trip now, and if he'd be able to peacefully return to his meditations until the secret behind the commotion was revealed. Before long he could hear the frantic, panicked breathing of a young man, coming up the hill. Yu Ping did not stir, nor did he even open his eyes, listening. The stranger stopped once he reached the hilltop and spotted Master Ping, and then approached cautiously. Opening his eyes, Yu allowed himself a moment of amusement at the sight of the man, or rather the boy, stepping backwards, startled so easily. The boy bowed low to the ground. His clothes were ragged, but were it not for the dirt and bruises, Yu Ping would not have known anything was out of the ordinary for the simple villager. "Master Yu Ping, please, you must help us! This morning, a band of pirates came up the river. They took all of our money and food, and beat everyone who resisted them. They told us that they would be back this afternoon for more. Master Yu, oh please, we know you are a skilled fighter. You must come aid us. We have nothing left to give! They will burn our village down!" Yu Ping considered the boy, and his story for a few moments. "No. Now go away." He was thinking about finding a new village, anyway.
