Kaji Megami Full Name: Kaji Megami
Gender: Female
Age: Nineteen
Element: Fire
Birthplace: Fire Nation Capital
Position: Fire Nation Noble
Personality: Kaji is usual a sweet and kind girl, always giggling and trying to have fun when she is with people whom she is comfortable around. She enjoys the smaller things in life like nature and the small creatures that wander around, those being her only friends when she was growing up. She is not afraid to begin talking to the most random of people and is not shy around those who talk to her, making her a very outgoing person. However, she can sometimes come off as a saracastic bitch if she is in that sort of mood, though most of the time she is just showing that she is weary of the person she is talking to.
She is extremely respectful of others if the respect her, but when provoked, she turns into a beast. People who disrespect her or treat her like a toy often see the bad side of her, the one where she is not only serious but deadly. She loses all sense of playfulness when she enters that stage, her main focus being to either get away from someone or to defeat her opponent. Her bending becomes a little more powerful when she is serious, all of her focus driving her fire like most benders.
Her favorite things to do are to train and dance, both which were supported by her family. Training always gave her a sense of self control, something she never really had over her life. However, when she begins wielding the fire she knows that nobody will be able to bring her down and that she is the strongest person. She also enjoys dancing because of the freedom it gives her and the reminder that it serves. Her mother was a dancer by nature and taught Kaji much of what she knows, making it her favorite past time. There is only one thing that Kaji truly hates and that is water. It is not because she is a fire bender and the fact that they hate water by nature, but the fact that she never learned how to swim. When she was five she nearly drown, making her nervous and weary of all rivers and oceans.
Abilities:
Kaji is a skilled fire bender, her abilities rivaling those of an advanced rank bender. Since she was young she has been trained by the most pristine fire bending teachers that were available in the Fire Nation Capital, each one advancing her skills in the ways of hot substance. She was never taught in the ways of either lightning or blue fire though since they were more focused on her abilities with normal fire. Her fire is usually wild and restless, flickering across the arena with an unnatural blaze that makes it look as though it is alive. Most say that the activity in the fire matches that of her eyes, sometimes giving her thoughts away.
She is also skilled with two daggers and were those that her grandfather had owned, a pair of silver bladed knives with crimson and gold handles. A dragon was painted across the handle, fire wrapping around its body and setting it ablaze just as the dragons did when they existed hundreds of years ago. Across the blade was a newer description though, one that her father had written across it when she turned thirteen. The engraving read “May the Fire Always Burn Within my Fire Goddess’s Heart”. She does not usually use them as a weapon, but she can if her life is put in danger. She never received a formal education in the ways of the dagger, simply teaching herself in the courtyard with her father’s approval.
Appearance: Kaji has always been described by her father is the Fire Goddess, beautiful and perfect in every way as any father would describe their daughter. She has long, pale blonde hair that cascades down to her lower back in relaxed ringlets, long side bangs sweeping over her eyes to shade them lightly. When she is playing the part of a noble daughter, she wears her hair completely up with a pair of chop sticks, her bangs pulled back to reveal her intricate bright red eyes and lovely heart shaped face. She has lush lips and thick, dark lashes that compliment her eyes, making them stand out against her extremely pale skin that is so milky white she almost looks sickly. One of her suitors had called her a porcelain doll that he was afraid to break, her skin making her look delicate and this only complimented by her skinny figure. She stands five foot five, an average height for the woman in her family since there has always been a large range. She has no scars across her skin, only her name tattooed across her side as was tradition with the Megami woman. Her name was written in Kaji script, the language that was used to name the females in their family. She is not ashamed of her mark, but does not like showing them to others because those who know her last name start treating her either like a doll or prize.
When dressing like a noble woman in her travels, she wears a pair of black, tight shorts that reach her knee that she puts underneath a red and gold short kimono that also extends to her ankles, the sides of the kimono slit to her upper thighs to allow her better movement. Her sleeves extend down to her wrists, daggers concealed within them and a single. When dressing how she chooses, she is often seen in a red tank top and black, baggy pants, pants that are similar to those that fire nation men train in. They are slightly altered though, being tighter around her legs then most training pants. They are also tapered at her ankles, tightening with a ribbon that she can unlace when she chooses. In this casual outfit, her hair tied half up in a bun, the rest cascading down.
History:Kaji Megami was born to General Hirosho Megami and Lady Seika Megami in midsummer, a time of prosperity for the fire nation. The Megami family was one of the most respected families in the fire nation, every man having turned out to be a powerful military man that gained them the respect that they maintain to this day. The new war had begun several years earlier and General Hirosho had only been allowed leave from his power to see the birth of his first child, one whom they hoped would be a male. However, the Spirits chose to bless the Megami family with a unique daughter, one that the sages called a gift from the sun and even though she was not exactly what they had hoped for, she proved to be even more of a blessing then they could have ever hoped. The newborn infant was born with golden hair the color of the sun and eyes as red as the heart of fire itself, a trait that was rare amongst fire nation members. With traits as rare as her own, her father decided to name her Kaji Megami or Fire Goddess. Within two weeks after her birth, her father had to leave once more for duty, leaving the infant and her mother locked away in a large yet elegant home.
For the first years of her life Kaji grew up without a father, her mother being the only one who ever paid any attention to the growing beauty. She was raised to be the perfect child, always listening and doing what she was told as expected. Her mother knew that her precious daughter would one day have to wed a man of high power, and if she was not to the standards that the fire nation demanded it would take her years to be wed off appropriately. Though the Megami family was a prestigious war family, they had not seen any female fire benders ever come to live amongst them, it being assumed that it was simply impossible for one to exist in their blood line. However, one morning Kaji was sitting out by the ground’s pond feeding the koi fish when her mother stumbled across the four year old playing with a small, bright flame, shocking nearly everyone in the palace. Right away her father was notified that his only daughter was a fire bender and he returned home within the month to see the spectacle, he too amazed by her power.
Her first fire bending lesson came when she was five years old, the youngest that any child was permitted to start their training. General Hirosho had a gentleman come to live at their home so his daughter could be trained to the finest of her abilities, wanting to perfect the already perfect daughter she had. The older she got though, the less Kaji wanted to be perfect, tired of always having to please everyone but herself. She hid these feelings from her family though, only wanting to please them and gain their respect. She hated disappointing her family, more specifically her mother who was always trying to support her and make sure that she would gain the best life possible.
At the age of sixteen, Kaji was already receiving suitors from different fire nation noble families, each one trying to push their “pristine and perfect” son upon her. None of them satisfied her though, each of them only seeing her as a prize to be one in her opinion. It disgusted her, for she wanted to marry for love just like her mother did when she was a simple fire nation commoner. She wanted to be swept off her feet like the fairytale her mother had told her when she was younger of her own love life, but she knew that was impossible as her father continued to urge her to marry.
To celebrate her father’s promotion from General to Admiral, the Megami family traveled to Ember Island, a trip that would tear Kaji’s life out from underneath her feet. They had been traveling in the family carriage when a group of bandits attacked the expensive looking ride, killing the driver instantly and ripping the doors the crimson and gold ride. Lady Seika tried to protect her only daughter, keeping her shielded but it proved to be a fruitless attempt. Within minutes General Hirosho was forced to his knees and murdered before Kaji’s crimson eyes, his blood spilling all over the grass before they came after her and her mother. She felt enraged by their act, but could do nothing as they forced her mother from her and murdered her too. All of her fire bending training proved to be worthless as they counteracted her attacks, going after the General’s only heir and what they would consider a perfect toy to use to get more money out of the family. When they went to take her away though, fire rushed through her veins and she lost control over the great element, every man being murdered in a wave of heat as she fell to the ground unconscious.
The next time Kaji awoke she was back at her home, a letter from her father’s best friend left on her night stand explaining that he was sorry for her loss but now she would have to live on her own. As a young and intelligent woman who was ready to wed he expected that she would be able to take care of herself and be married within a few months, but she had other plans. All her life she had wanted to travel and she figured that now would have been as good a time as any. She dressed in a pair of black, tight shorts that reach her knee that she put underneath a red and gold short kimono that also extended to her ankles, the sides of the kimono slit to her upper thighs to allow her better movement. Her sleeves extended down to her wrists, daggers concealed within them and a single, smaller blade in her shoe. She knew that if she dressed the part, she could get anywhere she needed, but she also brought along a small bag with a change of clothes as well as food and money, nothing too extravagant.
Before she left she paused at her mother and father’s graves, placing a single fire lily in between their shared stone. It would be a long time before she saw them again, something she was certain of as she walked away from her home and into the forest to start a new life for herself, a life where she was in charge. One promise was made to her parents before she left though, that being that she would return one day and do what her loving father had always wanted her to do, marry and settle down.

“Mother must I meet him?”
A disgruntled Kaji sighed heavily as her mother helped her to put her hair back up upon her head, her golden locks falling down to frame her face in a way that was not appropriate according to her father. She peered at herself in the mirror that lay before her, her bright red eyes missing their usual luster as her hair was gathered into a tight bun and secured with chop sticks that she had never seen, beautiful gold and crimson ones that were decorated with flames. Behind her appearance she could see the soft face of her mother as she stared at her beautiful daughter, a ghost of a smile painted across her red lips.
“Yes you must my dear child, but I give you a gift.”
“A gift?”
A spark of curiosity bubbled up within her crimson hues as she stared at her mother’s warm golden eyes in the mirror, Lady Seika simply patted her daughter’s head before smoothing out the shoulders to her kimono. There was a sly smirk on the woman’s lips as she leaded in close to her daughter, letting a breathe pass her lips as she whispered.
“I’ve met that young boy and personally, I think his ego is a little too inflated. Your father and I were going to wait until your next birthday to give this to you, but I think that this is a little more appropriate.”
Her eyes sparkled with curiosity as her mother placed a set of daggers on the table in front of her, lovely antique ones that looked as though they were at least a hundred years old. Slowly her pale fingers picked up the blades, sliding them from the sheath to read the engraving on the inside. It made her smile lightly, the engraving that she knew came from her father, showing his love.
“Just don’t get blood on the carpet.”
Lady Seika suddenly started laughing, Kaji giggling at her mother’s playful attitude towards her finding a suitor. She was always protecting her child in any way she could and she supposed that this was just one of those ways.
A knocking on her door interrupted their bonding moment, her father’s gruff voice telling her that the son had arrived. The thought of spending the day with another pompous fool aggravated her, her shaking her head as she stood from her seat. Her mother could see the disconcert in her eyes, brushing a strand of hair off of her pale skin with a soft smile.
“My child, you will do find. Tell me all about it when you get home.”
She was always so comforting, her mother’s touch which had always been there. Kaji nodded to her, placing a soft kiss on her mother’s cheek before moving to the door and sliding out of it. She could already hear her father talking with the boy, questioning him just as he always did to all of her suitors. It was time for the show she supposed and she knew how to put one on for these kind of pompous idiots, her adjusting her crimson kimono that was decorated with golden flowers, walking out to see her newest toy.
