Population of Nations

It might be good to come up with a population for all the nations in order to establish how big of an army is actually possible. It wouldn't be good if say the Fire Nation had 20,000 troops while the Earth Kingdom had 5,000,000. What sort of populations would we be looking at?

Perhaps the leaders of the different nations should hold a kind of "census"? Meaning - let the leaders decide how many civilians and military personnel there are. Might make a note of how many benders there are as well.

I obviously couldn't get numbers, but here's what I think of each nation.

EARTH KINGDOM: by far the largest population, but a smaller bender-to-nonbender ratio
FIRE NATION: much less than the Earth Kingdom, but a significantly higher bender-to-nonbender ratio
WATER TRIBES: slightly smaller than the Fire Nation; similar bender-to-nonbender ratio
AIR NOMADS: by far the smallest population, all benders

if we did that "100 people" thing, I would estimate that it'd be divvied something like this

47% EK
31% FN
19% WT
03% AN

coincidentally, if we used that ratio, it would put the FN/WT axis at 50, and the EK/AN axis also at 50. not to say that that should be set in stone, but those are about my general estimates of ratios and proportions of people in the world. As logical as it may seem to say that I am biased, you have to admit that the EK is definitely the most populous nation.

I think that makes perfect sense and is also fair. What should we have the world population be? Like...1,000,000?

given the period, time, and technology and whatnot, I would say that that was a fair number. I'm also interested to see what others say. :B
