Wu Zia Ren Empty
PostSubject: Wu Zia Ren   Wu Zia Ren EmptyFri Apr 06, 2012 1:06 pm

Full Name: Wu Zia Ren
Gender: Female
Age: 22
Element: Water
Birthplace: Northern Water Tribe
Position: Healer

Personality: (40)
Zia Ren is not the most sociable or outgoing of people. She prefers to remain silent unless she is certain that she can improve the silence. She doesn't like to fight, and she is not aggressive in the least, but if she is forced to defend herself she could hold her own against most. Although she is quiet, she also well known for having a cute personality, and she is not afraid to use other people's gullibility to her advantage.
When her ire is provoked many have found that she can be very blunt and perfunctory. She is not overly egoistic about her fighting abilities, but she desperately desires to see the world outside the walls of the Northern Tribe. She is frustrated that people assume she is weak because of her body structure, and she blames this on the fact that when people first meet her she appears to be quiet and meek; not coming across as any type of threat. But, after people get to know her, they realize that she is quiet because she is thinking of something useful to say, instead of filling he void with useless chatter. Secretly, though, Zia Ren is very self-conscious and is always striving to better herself.

Abilities: (40) While Zia Ren has the potential to become a very good and powerful bender she finds it hard to connect with the more spiritual side of her abilities. She has amazing control, a little bit too much honestly, and the physical aspect of her bending is relatively easy for her to comprehend. The spiritual and emotional parts of her bending are quite hard for her to connect with, though, and her amazing control makes her movements more edgy and rough than fluid and graceful. She specializes in water based Healing, but can perform basic offensive and defensive bending as well.

Appearance: (60)
Zia Ren is a slender, delicate creature, standing at about 5’3”, bearing a small bust, small waist, and almost no hips to her name. She is naturally thin, but she does daily exercises to keep her mind set in shape, and she weighs a constant 105lbs. Her pale skin is soft and smooth, and, to the naked eye, as delicate as porcelain. But, there is also an air about her, an aura of strength revealed by her posture, like delicate porcelain covering a spine of steel. Her face tends to be on the expressionless side making it hard to read what she is thinking. But, she is also well known for acting cute and humorous.
Zia Ren has dark blue eyes that accentuate her mysterious manner, and they usually project her feelings. They are the windows to her soul and show her joy, hope, and longing for a better future. Her hair is shiny black and down to her waist, so she has to keep it in intricate braids and hairstyles to keep it out of her way. She has two pieces that are pulled over her shoulders and twinned with thin, blue leather straps.

History: (120)
Zia Ren was the first born child of a small noble family in the Northern Water Tribe. Her father was one of the old Chief's personal guards and her mother is one of the Tribe's most experienced healers. As a child Zia Ren was a sunny and good child, showing potential at an early age as a water bender and healer. When she was finally old enough to get a personal teacher she was placed under the tutelage of a master bender and healer, a kindly old woman who must have been over a century old. She was a stern woman when she had to be, and an amazing teacher, but she was also very affectionate and playful. Zia Ren grew up with a warm heart and a zest for life that she wanted to spread to the world.
But, being raised in the Northern Water Tribe was not easy. Although the water tribes had been allowing females to waterbend as more than just healers for quite a few years, there was still a stigma against a woman being allowed to perform on the front line. As a healer, Zia Ren was taught from an early age that life, all life, is important and needs to be nourished. But, she felt the need to use her bending for more than just healing the sick and wounded. Zia Ren showed exemplary focus and control in her bending, fearing to make mistakes. As such, her bending lacked that certain fluidity, that gentle flowing from one movement to the next, that looked to be an intricate and beautiful dance. Her movements were always precise and analytical, and this made her bending less powerful than those who could just let go and love the part of themselves that gave this ability.
Zia Ren's master sent her to practice with another master who specialized in combat and defensive bending, hoping that the change of pace would get Zia Ren back on track. Zia Ren loved the new techniques and took to them like the proverbial duck to water. She knew that this was what she had been looking for, but she still felt disconnected from her bending, as if she were forcing the water to do her will, grasping it tightly with too much force, instead of coaxing it, guiding it, pushing and pulling like the spirit of the moon.
Her mentor knew that Zia Ren was feeling a bit down, so she decided that it would be good for Zia Ren to travel with a group heading out to the other nations. If she had a chance to see how the people outside of the Tribe reacted and worked with their bending, then she could decide her own path. Zia Ren has been reluctant to leave, though, because she has the strangest feeling that if she leaves the Tribe, she will never be back.

Wu Zia Ren

Zia Ren stood in front of her Master, breathing deeply through her nose as she tried to keep the tears prickling behind her eyes from pouring down. Her master and the martial arts master who she had been sparring with here staring at her with appraisal and disappointment clouding their blue gazes.

"Zia Ren," her Master murmured. "You have tremendous talent. You're so controlled and precise, but I fear that your greatest asset is also your greatest weakness."

"How do you mean, Master?" Zia Ren murmured back, clenching her fists to keep from dropping to her knees in disappointment and despair. "How can an asset be a weakness?"

"You are so controlled, you don't allow your spirit to guide you. You've gotten a chokehold on your bending, and you're forcing it to submit to your will. Water bending is a dance, child. You need to learn how to bend with the water, to wax and wane, push and pull, just as the Great Moon spirit did."

Stepping forward Zia Ren's master placed her spot marked and wrinkled hand on Zia Ren's cheek, brushing away the one stray tear that had finally escaped the iron band that Zia Ren had on her emotions.

"I think you have learned everything you can in this place." Master murmured as she reached down to take Zia Ren's hand. She tucked it into her elbow and shuffled Zia Ren along side her as she walked toward her home. "I've spoken with the Chief, and we both agree that it would be good for you to get some additional training."

Zia Ren looked at the old woman with widened eyes, shocked by what she was hearing. It was almost unheard of for a Healing specific bender to be sent off, unless they were going to heal soldiers on the front line.

"Additional training?" She asked softly. "With who?"

"It's going to be more of a self-study, Zia Ren." The elder said, nodding. "We think you need to observe the way other benders connect with their bending. To see how the spirituality of bending can affect you."

Zia Ren was confused. She had observed other waterbenders. In fact, she had spent countless hours watching the soldiers as they did their drills. "But, Master, I..."

"I know what you're thinking, Zia Ren." She said chuckling. "We don't mean observing other waterbenders here. We mean you to go to the other Nations and observe there. You will be leaving with a touring healing and music troup."

The old woman stopped in front of her house. She turned to look at Zia Ren and placed her hands on her shoulders. "Do not think of this as a punishment or even a mission. Think of it as...an adventure. A chance to explore the world and if you get to advance your bending...well...so much the better, right?"

"Yes, Master," Zia Ren said as she leaned down to give the white haired woman a strong hug. "Thank you. Thank you so much for everything."
