I log on this morning to find that my character Novai was banned from New Chapters, without being given warning or otherwise.

To those who had this orchestrated, come out now and explain yourselves. If this was an accident, I'd like for the staff to take the necessary measures.

This will not go unheard of and without punishment.

I regret to inform you on behalf of the staff that you have been banned, and your profile -Novai- stripped of any authority, by a popular/majority vote of two of two Moderators and two of three Admins (Removed parties exempt).

At this point and further, "you" and variations thereof are referring to the account holder of Novai.

We duly apologize for not providing a warning, but the staff had been informed of drastic actions which you had disclosed which provided circumstance to ban you without prior notice, otherwise we would have risked irrational actions on your part.

This is why you have been banned without warning.

As for your removal from the Administration Team, the site staff has deemed you unfit for duty as an admin on these grounds: you have shown your lack of self control by abusing your administrative powers on a number of occasions; you have exhibited irresponsibility by previously leaving the site without due warning, and for en excessive period of time; expanding upon the previous point, not only have you once again shown further inactivity, but have been what is most aptly described as hypocritical given your recent inclination to attempt removal of another site staff for a lesser occurrence of inactivity.

Your banning was a decision also on part with majority of of site staff. You have been deemed not only abusive of your in-character position as Fire Lord, but as a player you consistently attempt arguments and often insult other players who -at that moment- happen to oppose the position you support. The previous also enforces your removal from administration, given it shows a proclivity to be what can most commonly be referred to as immature. In this particular case showing lack of emotional restraint, particularly in your insults and emotional devotion to arguing and initiating conflict.

The administrative/moderation team would like to inform you that we apologize, but firmly stand by your removal from administration and the site as a whole. So to answer the question posed in your thread title, this is neither an outrage, nor a mistake, but a near unanimous decision of the new site administrative team.

If I may request now to other staff to reinforce any point given here, or give an additional information, please do do with details, example, and I request no slandering/bashing. We are admins, and such is a show of similar indecency judged here. Or on the contrary, if any oppose this action or any example/statement above -despite the recent support thereof- please let it be known.

As I wasn't part of the admin/mod team at the time, I'm a bit cautious of making my opinion known here. However, I would like to state that I fully support the actions taken by the administrative team in this matter for reasons including but not limited to those stated above. I believe that Novai has routinely abused his position of authority both in character and outside of it and cannot, therefore, be allowed to continue inflicting that damage upon the site as a whole.

I believe it should be stated further that anyone who believes their admin status places them above the law of the site, the rules to those who prefer to call them by that name, is not someone who deserves to bear the responsibilities or powers of that position. We have seen evidence of this belief in Novai's actions over the last few months and it demonstrates, in my view, a willingness to inflict permanent harm to the site as a whole for the sake of a whim.

I'm sorry it came to this Novai, but I've known for a long time you, and Gysu for that matter, were incompetent for positions of power. You were fine RPers and you were active, but that's really all you had going for you. Novai, you constantly resist change and never allow for progress on this site. While it's okay to resist some ideas or changes, you were consistently stubborn and unwilling to bend to anyone else. You are not very good at roleplaying either, but I suppose that doesn't effect you as an administrator. (Although throwing flaming meteors at the city of Omashu was a bit much.) I believe any points against you as an admin have already been listed, so I will just post my approval of this decision here.

The staff and I do hope that you, Novai, realize that this has nothing to do with you personally. We have made this decision based upon unacceptable actions, either performed alone or partaken upon with others. Your position as Fire Lord caused you to believe that you were exempt from rules placed for each and every member, and becoming an Administrator only furthered that belief.

Also, you should have been replaced at a much sooner date. You were inactive for over five months at one point, and despite your excuses, that was unacceptable. For example, the first Fire Lord here went two days without logging in, and you requested that Liao strip her title and give it to you. This is but one example of where you broke rules and believed it to be “alright”. Therefore, the staff and I made a formal decision to have your title stripped. We feared that if we did so, you would have acted out and harmed the site in some way or another and therefore we banned you permanently, as well.

At this point, there is very little I can say that has not already been said. I was very closely involved in this, but only from nigh-unanimous consent from the staff members present at the time, which included Nokomi, Hakota-Zai, and myself, as it was shortly after Loki had left.

as mentioned by the others, your removal from the staff was due to long bouts of continued inactivity, you consistently resist change and new ideas, you have histories of abuse of administrator power, you have a rather unpleasant tendency to persistently argue with/ridicule people who do not fully support/agree with you, and you retained the belief that your administrator status and seniority in join date and post count made you superior to other members, and made you above the rules.

similarly, there are issues with your Role-Playing style, but those are not as relevant to the administrator part, and have already been mentioned by the other admins in their posts.

as also mentioned, the banning came from word of drastic actions which you would take against certain individuals and/or the site, and was a unanimous decision from the staff members present. I do admit to being the one to do the deed, but that was only because I was the only one left at the time with admin capabilities when it was carried out. So while it may seem otherwise, this was not personal, and was something the whole site supported, and similarly, was the idea of all of us, not just me, or any other individual.
