Personality: Raiko is a cold-hearted dick to most, to put it plainly and in a few words. Most people don't know him well enough to even begin to understand him - to even call him a friend. He often doesn't really converse and mingle with people; he's somewhat antisocial toward certain types of people. Even if he is antisocial, the last thing that anyone would ever describe him as is being shy. Though he is often - or rather seems - emotionless, he is really the exact opposite.
He is a charmer to the ladies, but he doesn't really ever try to find anything in any girl. He's arrogant, stubborn, rude - most of the time - and a little bit immature. He'll rarely ever backs down from a fight or challenge, and sometimes gets his ass beat from that. Regardless, he doesn't let anything get to him often. He thinks that's being weak. So, he's very defiant as a result of what he thinks is 'not being weak'.
This particular firebender is one that likes doing what he wants, whether it opposes the views of others or not. Of course, he keeps in mind what’s too far. He doesn’t do things that would warrant going to jail or anything – just things that other people usually wouldn’t think of, if he’s in a good enough mood to be like this. However, he dislikes stuck up people. They really just get on his nerves – and also when girls fawn over him or flirt with him. Sure, he may flirt back sometimes, but he doesn’t mean it. It gets tiring after a while. One of the things he fears the most would be falling in love – he doesn’t like the idea of getting that attached to someone. He’s already plenty attached to his brother and terrified of losing him, and he doesn’t want another person to worry about in that kind of way.
He’s also very determined, and focused when he works on his firebending. He wants to strive, do the best he can for himself and for his brother. He plans to somehow – maybe when he’s 50 or something – become a master, but as of right now even at the skill he has, he knows he’s nowhere close.
Rai doesn't allow people to get close to him, but if someone manages to get to know him, they'll find that he is humorous, decent, and good company in the worst of times. He's able to sympathize with most people when he gives them his time.
His only issue with sympathizing is when someone is crying; he doesn't deal with crying and tears very well.
Abilities:
Firebending: As a firebender, Raiko’s abilities are something he is extremely proud of. As far as firebending went he was always one of the promising students, from the start, because of his razor sharp reflexes, his way of quickly catching on and his cunning intuition. His moves are swift and his strikes are usually precise. He has studied the forms time and time again, to get them down to almost perfection – almost. He knows they’re not perfect. His blows are usually pretty sturdy, firm, and the fire resulting is usually strong. He takes a hold of his firebending with a firm hand.
Other: Another skill that Rai has would be with knives. He’s pretty decent with knives – more specifically throwing knives. He’s practiced for a few years – including during the time when his father wasn’t home – because he found that if anything, he’d want to be able defend himself without firebending and using the objects around him. His aim is very good, with him being able to hit a bullseye when in a 10 to 15 yard distance. He’s working on longer distances, able to get relatively close to his target. His skill of being a knife thrower is average, but well practiced enough to be lethal.

Raiko has a nice, sturdy build, helping him stay up when blows are delivered to him that could knock him down. His hair is soft, while being at a longish length – it falls past his chin, to halfway down his neck, and it’s a plain black. His hair is usually somewhat covering his eyes when he’s in public, but when speaking to others and training, it’s out of his face and his handsome features are shown. His skin is pallid, and what skin he usually shows is unblemished – he has numerous burns on his chest, and one on his collarbone as well, along with a few on his upper thighs, which are usually covered. His eyes are amber, when in direct light – like a light being shined in his eyes – but otherwise, they appear more so reddish and to be honest, a bit sinister which isn’t all the way correct. His form is well muscled, not overdone, not too little – it works well with his firebending and his knife throwing abilities. His clothing usually consists of anything he finds comfortable – baggy shirts, long pants, medium length pants, sturdy shoes that won’t kill his feet but are light enough for him to move quickly and quietly if needed.

Description: The knives are made of steel, and are lightweight and when thrown correctly, very agile. They’re easy to carry around, and can go undetected. Their edges are very sharp, even when dull and not at their sharpest, and can be lethal to even the carrier if the carrier is too restless while carrying them around. The knives are not very small, but they’re not very big either. They are slim, and can pack a pretty good punch – they’re an easy throw, and it’s even better if the person throwing them has an aim. All in all, they’re a pretty decent weapon.
History:
Raiko was born to a firebender father and mother, and at the time he was born, his mother was 23 at the time while his father was 25. He was the second born, having an older brother who was about 6 years older by the name of Dailan. Unlike any other normal family, he was not spoiled and neither was his brother. His parents weren't the most reliable, considering at the time his father was a blacksmith and abusive while his mother was often busy at work all of the time.
Ry didn't get much time with his parents, but he was fine with that. The person who practically raised him was his brother, Dailan, and he was as much of a friend as he was a caretaker to Raiko. Most thought that his brother was a bad influence, but he didn't see how Dailan was. Dailan was strong, stubborn, and didn't let things get to him – and with all of that, he was blind too and an amazing firebender for his age.
He was a role model to Raiko.
Soon, he began adapting to the ways of his older brother and things took a bad turn in his life then.
It had been a dark, cold night with Raiko the age of 7 and Dailan the age of 13. His father had come home from work, drunk for once, and his mother was home already and tending to the boys. Raiko still to this day doesn't know how his mother upset his father, but all he knew was his father lashed out and beat his mother that night, gave her a few scars from firebending as well while she was rendered defenseless. He could still remember all of the yelling, and his brother Dailan shoving his father away from their mother. When his father had lunged for Dailan, Dailan fought back. There was a sickening crack, a rush of flames, his father on the floor, his mother sobbing as she looked at the chaos - injured severely already, and then...his father going after Raiko.
Everything went downhill from that terrible night, and the abuse began to be a regular thing. Raiko was lucky if it was only a few bruise, cuts and burns, considering he was the one who was mainly abused. His brother couldn't be touched and fought back. But his mother always got it the worst, regardless of if Rai got it more often.
When he was 10 - 3 years after the abuse began - his mother committed suicide.
That was what drew the line for Dailan, and he ran away, finding friends and leaving the poor village. Raiko was all alone, and he often didn't come out of his room unless he was sure that his father wasn't home or that he was asleep. This was the best strategy that he could come up with at the moment.
It wasn't until his 11th birthday that he saw his older brother, Dailan, again. He came to Raiko at night with a friend, and managed to sneak him out of the house. That was also the day that Raiko began his bad habits and had his first taste of alcohol. Things didn't seem to matter much to him when he drank, so it became a habit and his brother smuggled the alcohol for him. Night was the only time he saw his brother, and it wasn't really something he wanted to waste.
Years passed, and the abuse became worse - again. Every night there was a new, severe cut or burn. And every night, his older brother would just be storing up more and more anger at his father. He swore revenge against his father for being the reason their mother was dead, and for hurting Raiko on a daily basis.
When Dailan turned 21 - and Raiko was 15 - he went to court to gain custody over Raiko. The trials lasted for a few weeks, and Raiko's father ended up going to jail for a year for the abuse to Raiko and some other charges that had come to light, and Dailan gained custody of Raiko.
His father got out last year, and when he had been sent to jail he had sworn that he would find Raiko and Dailan - and make them regret what they did.
His father had yet to find them, and Raiko fears the day he does. However, even if his father does find him and his brother, Raiko wants to be ready to face him. Dailan is a pretty good firebender, at a surprising degree of expertise for being blind, but Raiko still worries that he might falter at some time if he fought.
Raiko wants to become better, and is determined with his firebending. He studies and practices constantly, over and over. He has been since his training started at a nearby firebending school when he was younger, and he’s found a new home with his brother in Ba Sing Se, away from that old fishing village, and he still attends firebending lessons to keep his skills and senses sharp and continue to learn.
He is also studying the art of lightning bending, and practices the form for it – of course, he can’t conjure any of it. Someday, however, he hopes to do so – but for now, all he can do is practice firebending and the forms for lightning bending, and dream that one day, he might be able to create a little bit of lightning – for now, he doesn’t even dare to try to actually do it, or attempt to imagine besides practicing the forms occasionally.
