What is Fate?(Closed: Lovely Firelord Shula.)

Shula Njoo	Shula nodded. Based off of the fact that Kichiro's mother was dead, she didn't expect it to be full of rainbows and puppies. She then turned to lead them to the dining room, the smell of food wafting through the Palace.

Yeah. It's short. -.-

Mako followed Shula, whistling lightly and Kichiro followed. He tried not to look at Shula's figure too much, tried not to mentally strip her, and most of all tried not to mess up the clothes he was wearing, no matter how unusual he felt.

Shula Njoo	Shula walked briskly to the dining room, smiling as she noted Kichiro had followed as well. An extremely long table was placed in the center with five chandeliers hanging above it. She walked right past this to the smaller table set off in the corner; she didn't feel like eating at a table that was miles long. They arrived at the round table in the corner of the room; it was laid out with multiple dishes. Spicy noodles, different pots of tea, rice, different types of curry and seasoned kabobs. A large bowl of raw meat was next to the table, for Kichiro to eat. She was delighted with the way the food turned out; her tummy grumbled quietly. She looked over at Mako; she wasn't sure if he'd like this food or not.

Mako looked over the assortment of food, he'd been to a lot of places, but he'd never seen a banquet set up with such diversity. For a brief moment, he looked over everything, taking a mental image of each dish, he would be sure to find out where each one originated from. Kichiro lifted his head, looking around, and sniffing. "This is amazingly diverse...I don't think I've ever seen so much food before..."

Shula Njoo	Shu bit her lip nervously as he looked at the food, examining it. Eventually, he spoke...and she felt kind of bad. Her people should be able to eat as they wished; such was what she wanted for her country. She wanted everyone to have equal opportunities, whether they were rich or poor. "Umm..." was her only answer before she decided that it was just way too awkward when things were this formal. She wanted to relax, not have to impress him with her table manners or whatever. "Do you want to eat in the courtyards?" she blurted out before blushing and had to stop herself from covering her own mouth with her hand.

Mako glanced at Shula, she hadn't been silent so long before. He wondered what she was thinking about, then, at least it seemed so, she began to speak. Just an "Umm...", at first, then, "Do you want to eat in the courtyards?", which, for some odd reason, seemed to embarass her greatly.

He chuckled, nodding, "Yes please, I don't think my mannierisms will be very befitting of the palace...but a little picnic in a courtyard doesn't sound so bad." He added one, hopefully not regretable action, he touched her shoulder, "You don't have to try to be so formal...you're working too hard to make yourself out to be...unoriginal, you...you can't expect yourself to be like Zuko...or any other Firelord...because you're different." He smiled, "You are not like other Firelords, and you can't expect such...unnatural rigidness...from yourself, Lady Shula. Just...as I can't expect to fit in here...", he added, "I'm not fit for this kind of treatment, I'm not royalty, and...I'd rather not be treated like I am."

Shula Njoo	Shula smiled as he agreed and nodded at his comment about mannerisms. She understood where he was coming from better than he probably thought. He then continued on, touching her bare shoulder and luckily for her she was such a master with expressions that she managed not to flinch. Instead her face went oddly blank for a moment before she smiled at him as he spoke. She didn't think she could convey just how much that had meant to her; so instead, she put a hand on his and smiled. "Just Shula." she said quietly. "Let's just forget about royalty or not, and just enjoy each other's company...okay?" she eventually added on, before turning a light pink color. That sounded far more intimate than she had intended it to.

Mako watched curiously as Shula's face went blank, but smiled lightly, eventually growing into a full grin. "Ok...Shula.", he said, moving his hand, and feeling rather foolish for touching her shoulder in the first place. "After you.", he said, not merely being polite, but determined to get lost.

Shula Njoo	Shula moved her hand as he removed his touch from her skin, and she was both a little relieved and a bit disappointed. Her aversion to touch was something that often held her back in many a situation; blame it on her father, who believed training was worth more than love. She nodded as he spoke, leading him to the courtyards; as the two had spoken, a servant had taken food out there. She led him to the Royal Courtyards, as the public ones were always crowded with chattering girls and foolhardy boys; even as a servant in the Palace, you could always count on a nice time. She opened the door and smiled--here was where she had spent her youth with her father when they found the free time. A cherry blossom tree arched its branches over the small pond and the setting sun flashed colors across the water. Under the tree was a picnic blanket; she breathed a sigh of relief. It was simple and completely informal; if she didn't know any better, she might've said that the servant knew exactly what she needed at that moment. Of course, they usually did.

Mako followed Shula silently, Kichiro was content to stay inside, tearing through what had been left for him. Mako wondered how much the dragon would eat. He had hardly managed to collect himself when the courtyard door was open, and the scent of cherry blossoms greeted his senses.

He glanced at Shula, and smiled, 'She seemed eased...he felt better too.' He stepped outside, breathing in the air slowly, cherishing the openness the Palace lacked. If asked, would he stay here longer than a week, would he stay for her? For Kichiro?...For himself?

Shula Njoo	Shula smiled as she noticed the change in him. He obviously felt better and was breathing in the evening air with pleasure. She herself stepped out as well, the courtyard door clicking shut as she let go of it. She wasted no time in sitting next to the pond, dipping her fingers into the cool water as she wondered where the turtle-ducks had gone. She felt more at ease now and the dimples in her cheeks actually came out as she smiled sincerely at the water. The wind rustled through the tree's branches, shaking cherry blossoms everywhere and she watched as some landed in the pond, floating peacefully. She then turned to Mako with a small question on her tongue, but then thought better of it and went back to watching the water. She was glad that she had found time last week to tend to the courtyard, because it looked much better now that all of the plants were pruned and taken care of.

Mako walked over, taking a seat beside Shula. He hadn't noticed the questioning look, he just seemed happy to be here. He laid back, closing his eyes, humming a soft tune from the Earth Kingdom, he couldn't remember the words, or even the name of the song, but it seemed to fit the moment nicely. He took care to maintain a mellow tone, as he recalled each note.

Shula Njoo	Shula listened carefully as Mako began humming; she had never heard the tune before and wondered where Mako had heard it. Of course, she hadn't exactly listened to music much in her childhood; her appreciation for it was apparent now, though. Night fell and the moon began rising, just the faintest tips of moonlight touching the water. She looked at Mako, who seemed so peaceful as he lay there, humming his little tune with his eyes closed. She was almost envious of his ability to come and go as he pleased, to learn such strange songs. She eventually lay back as well, looking up at the sky as it went from deep blue to a midnight color. She had to admit, it was rather nice to just lay there and do nothing; she felt more peaceful than she had in a long time, but was certain that if she came back once Mako was gone and watched the sky like she was now, it just wouldn't be the same.

Mako listened to the soft rustle of grass, and peeked out to see Shula had laid down as well. He smiled at her, everything seemed different, but also the same. The moon cast it's blue light on her, and himself, and he was forced to lean up, and look down at her face.

He didn't know why, he usually wasn't so interested in moonlight, but it made her glow. He looked down at her for a long time, not saying a word, just appreciating her. He felt sure his behavior was unusual, maybe even discomforting, but he couldn't help it, and he wouldn't stop. "Shula...", it was a mere whisper, she probably wouldn't even have heard it, but he had to say it, even if she would never know, never hear it from his lips, it passed quietly, like a gentle breeze, "...you are absolutely stunning..."

Shula Njoo	Mako was suddenly looking down at her and she wasn't sure what to do. They were close; usually she'd be scared, but instead she was kind of glad for the close proximity to him. His lips moved, accompanied by a small whisper--her name. She looked up at him, as he spoke again, a mere breathing of words. She couldn't be sure if she heard him right, but did he call her...stunning? Not only was she flattered, but the way he said it had her blushing all over again. She took a shaky breath, realizing that she hadn't been breathing for a moment. She wasn't sure what she should do...what did one do in a situation like this? She pushed herself up on her elbows, and their noses were an inch from each other. "I..." she hesitated. "You're worth more than you think..." she finally murmured, so quiet that she wasn't sure if she spoke at all.

Mako watched Shula, she'd heard him. He wasn't sure if that was good or bad, but it made him nervous. He held his orginal position, listening, other than silence, he could make out a few, silent words, just a few. He managed a small smile, lightly taking Shula's right hand with his left one, "Not nearly as much as you.", he returned, slightly louder than before but still only a whisper.

Shula Njoo	Her eyes flicked down as he took her hand, but she didn't flinch. In fact, she smiled slightly, just slightly, at his touch. She didn't respond; her left hand came up and caressed his face for a moment, her fingers trailing along his cheekbone. She looked at him with an expression one can only describe as wonder--she was fine with his touch. No automatic bristling, no blank expression...well..in that case...she leaned her head upwards, her lips brushing against his before she blushed even an even deeper color of red than she already was. She looked at him; she was afraid she made a wrong move. She wasn't experienced with this sort of thing, and for all she knew, he just wanted to be friends. "S...sorry..." she murmured softly, her expression changing to one of worry and she bit her lip nervously.
Mood: Shaky, Nervous, Exhilerated Condition: Wonderful	Fire Lord Shula Njoo

Mako's breath caught, and, for just a brief second, her lips met his. She was obviously embarassed, flushing red so that the mix of red and blue turned her skin a faint shade of purple. He leaned in, close to her, kissing back for several seconds, then whispering, softly, "Don't be..."

Shula Njoo	"Don't be..." was his answer...so he was alright with being something other than just friends? Her response was to kiss him yet again, only this time it wasn't quite so nervous; she felt a tiny bit confident and the change was immense. She pulled away within seconds, as she was shaking ever so slightly. It wasn't from cold, but simply from the feeling of inexperience yet confidence...and also pleasure that he hadn't rejected her.
Mood: Shaky, Exhilerated Condition: Wonderful	Fire Lord Shula Njoo

Mako smiled, closing his eyes. He couldn't think of anything to say anymore, at least, he didn't have any idea for a while, then, he opened his mouth, and spoke, "I was born in the Capital...left pretty early, went exploring...", he said, recalling how curious she had been to his arrival, "About a week ago, at the Sun City Ruins, a Spymaster of the Fire Nation, Kako, asked me along to help him capture a rogue Admiral..."

He paused, "A dragon...that's what the guy had been after...but...the egg was guarded, a fully grown female, when the egg was disturbed, the dragon attacked, I took the dragon...the freshly hatched dragon...to draw her away...I already saw it...in Kako's eyes, he wanted that damned title...so...she stopped me..." He paused, emotion thick in his voice for a moment, "She...I don't know, said good bye, and went to face off with Kako...I took the infant dragon and left...that's where he came from...that...was his first memory..."

"I...never really understood how anyone could justify killing a dragon...killing the orginal firebenders..."

(Dun, dun, dun...)

Shula Njoo	Shula's jaw clenched and she didn't speak. She wasn't sure what she could possibly say. Kai had caused more problems than she could ever imagine; Kichiro ended up without a mother because of that damned fool? Her expression was not even one of anger. It was more like controlled fury. Kako? She didn't think she'd ever formally met him, but she was looking forward to it. A grim smile lit her features for a moment before she looked at Mako. "This won't go unpunished. I can promise you and Kichiro that much." she said, her voice still quiet but not with intimacy; she was attempting to control her anger. She was doing quite well for someone of such passionate nature.
Mood: Upset Condition: Wonderful	Fire Lord Shula Njoo

Mako looked at Shula, moving closer to her, "Sorry...I didn't know what else to say...kinda...just spat out what I could recall..." He reached up, gripping each of Shula's shoulders, using a method of massage he'd experienced in the Earth Kingdom, deep circles. "Just relax...nothing I've said today will change tomorrow, you'll be capable of handling just the same...please...", his voice was that of a depressed child, the last thing he seemed to want was more suffering, even if it was inflicted upon the guilty party. "Please..."

Shula Njoo	Shu sighed; he was right, after all, and she didn't want to think of her Royal obligations at the moment anyhow. She rested her head against his chest as he massaged her shoulders, and closed her eyes against the sensation. "Of course. I'm sorry," she said softly, smiling slightly before relaxing almost completely against his touch. She'd never had a massage before; what with her aversion to physical contact, she was never able to have one. She found that they were actually quite relieving and now understood why many liked them so much. "Thank you," she said eventually.

Mako smiled as Shula relaxed, gently kissing the back of her head, his hands slowly wrapping around her. "Don't apologize...it made me angry too.", he said. "And there's no need to thank me, I like seeing you relaxed." He said this resuming the massage, happy to know the tensity was leaving her.

Shula Njoo	Shula smiled as he wrapped his arms around her; with her head against his chest like this she could hear his words resonate in his chest. He then resumed the massage and she made a small sound of appreciation, his hands warm against her as the night cooled the air around them. She looked up after a moment or two of this before deciding to ask the question she'd wanted to earlier. "Do you want to leave for a little while? Take Kichiro with us and just get lost for a few days?" she asked. She knew how he felt in the Palace--she had felt the same way after her arrival here from exile. Everything she had learned, everything she had taught herself over the past two years while fighting what used to be one of her close friends...she changed. She actually missed the freedom, just a little bit. And she didn't want him to be unhappy here; she looked at him, searching for an answer in his eyes.
