Shaman of the North

Amaji walked calmly through the Northern Tribe, the satchel on her hip containing her precious Shaman's Guide bouncing against her thigh. The cold breeze whipping through everyone's parkas and sending shivers down their spines unfazed Amaji's mostly bare upper torso. She got a few looks here and there, but those of the North were pretty much used to the fact that she just didn't get cold.

She passed a shop selling herbal incenses, catching a whiff before turning and heading in at a second's notice. "Good morning, Shaman," the shopkeeper said. Amaji nodded, looking up, "Do you wish me a good morning, or mean that it is a good morning whether I want it or not; or that you feel good this morning; or that it is a morning to be good on?" she asked. Jen chuckled, shaking her head. "Just a good morning, ma'am." she returned. Amaji nodded again, before saying, "I smell sage..." Jen smiled, her youthful face knowing instantly what Amaji wanted.

"One mo'," she said before heading into the back and bringing out a small earthen pot and setting it on the counter. Amaji opened it, standing on tip-toe to examine the contents within and sniffing. "Mmmm....fresh?" she inquired. The shopkeeper nodded, while Amaji tossed a few coins on the counter and took the entire pot, walking out the door.

"You forgot--" the shopkeeper began as the door shut. ...your change." she finished, before sighing. Amaji smiled and carried the pot while humming, enjoying the still-faint scent that the strong sage gave off. She headed back to her home, setting it up on a shelf with a bunch of her other herbs; she would dry and press the sage later, and include a page on it in her Shaman's Guide---if she hadn't already.

She then headed back out, remembering just what she'd been traversing the great city for anyways. She boarded a gondola, handing the man a few coins as she traveled down the vast river system towards the Blue Palace to meet Chief Tyrus--it was, after all, customary for the legendary Shaman to bless the futures of those in such a high position.

It was Tyrus' least favorite time of day. He had to hear out complaints from citizens, which for some reason he was not allowed to have his secretary Lara do. Apparently it showed he was a man of the people who was willing to work with the entirety of the nation. It probably showed he was easily annoyed even moreso. To nearly every complaint, Tyrus would ring out a "suck it up" or a "you'll be fine". There were a few that were true and honest complaints, but most had to do with neighbors or friends which Tyrus had little control over. He had his hand on his face in order to hold up his tired head. Sitting around for an hour just wasn't his style.

"...And then Tracy had the nerve to store her fish in my icebox! Can you believe the nerve!?" shouted a middle aged woman. Her hair was in a tight black bun, her clothing reminded Tyrus of a librarian that also hunted. Dreary colors and animal fur were dressed on her in a tight and orderly manner. She looked like someone who wouldn't take flack.

"No, I can't believe that at all." Tyrus said, the boredom in his voice telling of his true feelings. It's a personal matter, why come to the chief with it? he wanted to ask, but he was trying to be nicer than his usual fare. At least the woman had a bit of spunk, he could respect that, but he just couldn't understand her anger. "Why don't you go tell Tracy about it?"

The woman's face lit up like she'd won an argument and she said, "You know what? I will." She then walked out of the palace. Tyrus dreaded whoever was next.

Shaman of the North

Exiting the gondola, Amaji paid the man a tip and walked up to the entrance of the Blue Palace easily, her hands empty with a canteen bouncing against her hip--the other had her satchel with the Shaman's Guide tucked away within. She walked calmly, entering among the citizens going to give their complaints to the Chief about what needed to be done. She hoped they gave him more than just neighborly squabbles, as she herself knew that at least three homes were leaking around her own; she went and repaired these without trouble, as it was just a matter of reapplying a firm thick coating of ice. Entering the Palace, it was barely warmer than outside, although she was still unfazed.

She would have gone to the nearest guard to find the Chief, but instead, she followed the small crowd. Seeing the door of the supposed room they gave such complaints in, she went to the guard there and yanked him down by the front of his armor to whisper in his ear. He nodded, and she entered the room, brushing past a man who had been about to enter. He seemed angry, but then the doors shut behind her. Catching sight of the Chief, she bowed as was customary, although it was far from grovelling.

"Chief Tyrus." she acknowledged as she straightened, before examining the room with curious eyes. She looked back, blinking twice and then speaking again; "Oh, forgive me, I am Amaji Tenkara. Shaman of the North." she didn't expect the Chief to know who she was.

"As the said Shaman, I suppose I might as well get right down to it. I'm here to bless the future of you and the rest of your descendants. I'm not sure who came up with these Shaman rules I must follow, but apparently blessing those of high positions in my homeland is a duty of mine." she said, quirking an eyebrow at him. Her small stature caused the room to look even bigger than it was; Tyrus was at least a foot and a half taller than her, give or take an inch or two.

Tyrus sighed as the angry woman left the throne room and didn't watch the Shaman enter. He expected another disgruntled citizen. Zoning out the first part of her entry, Tyrus began picking up her voice at, "...am Amaji Tenkara. Shaman of the North." He'd never heard of her before, but that was to be expected in the now large tribe.

She quickly explained her shaman duty was to bless him and his descendants. There was a bit of reluctance in her voice or perhaps she was just telling Tyrus how these things went. Either way, an awkwardness entered the air. He did not exactly know how to respond to this explanation.

"Uhh...how does it work?" he asked, perhaps a bit stupidly.
