Haruki is extremely friendly and outgoing, yet a very hardworker. She's a bit insecure, and has no inhibitions about others. She enjoys everything in life, and is known by everyone as "perfect"--except by those at the end of her sharp tongue. Ruki has a zero-tolerance policy for BS and will let you know about it, too. She's very trusting, but if needed to, she could hold her own in a fight due to her high intelligence. She's very analytic of her surroundings and situations, coming up with solutions, albeit often starting new problems.

While Ruki is generally friendly and outgoing, if you p'iss her off, you will literally watch your life pass before your very eyes. Luckily, it takes quite a lot to anger her, so most people don't see her real temper--lucky them. She also has these weird moments where she just hates everyone and everything around her; whether she's bipolar or just has to balance all the happy loveyness out with something, no one's sure.

As an earthbender, Ruki has a lot of room for improvement, although she tries her hardest to get in a little practice everyday. It's hard with her job in the tea shop, but slowly and surely she's better; she buys different scrolls from the shops around, or borrows some at the library.

She's also a good cook and fairly athletic. She enjoys running a good race or going through a rigorous sparring match. She also has a pretty singing voice, which comes in handy for karaoke night at the Nakamura Tea Shop; she also plays quite a few instruments as she's dabbled in music quite a bit, but the two she's focused most upon is the flute and sitar.

As for weaponry or hand-to-hand combat, Ruki knows none of that. She relies solely on her bending, which could be construed as a good or bad thing. She thinks it just provides her with more time to focus on improving. Part of her hopes to take a trip to Ba Sing Se University soon, though, so that she might study under one of the bending teachers there and finally become an expert--she has no hopes for becoming a master, as she doesn't believe that anything can be truly mastered.

Ruki always has a smile on her lips, usually giggling about one thing or another. Her eyes are always open and wide, and she looks as though she's always taking the world in. She keeps her long, waist length hair up in two buns; she tends to wear beautiful green Geisha gowns as well, even though she isn't one. She enjoys them for their beauty, as Haruki is one who enjoys it; plus, with her fair amount of insecurity, she always has to look the "best of her abilities".

For twenty-one, she still has a little bit of a teenager-ish look to her body, although she's certainly filling out and appearing more womanly day by day. She is usually pretty modest, despite the fact that many of her gowns are low-cut. She always wears green ballet flats, no matter if she's bending or not.

When training, she wears a traditional Earth Kingdom top, short-sleeved with black cargo pants and those pretty ballet flats.

Ruki was born in the small village of Gaoling to two doting parents; she was an only child for all of her life and tended to be lonely, which caused her to adventure around the village and get into all sorts of trouble. She grew up believing she was not special--the only people special in her eyes were benders--but when she got older she found that she was an earthbender. Her parents were nonbenders, as were her grandparents, and therefore it was a great shock to her.

With this confidence uplifting her spirit, she matured quickly, turning into a huge asset to the Nakamura Tea Shop. When she was eight years old, her mother came back from a trip to visit her uncle in Shu Jing with a girl but one year younger than she. This girl was her best friend and practically her sister, Sakura. Sakura's memory was completely gone, and therefore Saki (Ki's nickname for Sakura) came to live with her. Ever since day one, they'd been the best of friends.

Ruki's bending made an appearance when she was twelve years old, and was her greatest joy. She'd been slightly envious of Saki before then, because Saki could bend and she couldn't. She's still at a mediocre level, not able to do much. Ever since day one, though, she's been eager to learn but has not had the time nor the money to pay for earthbending classes. Saki was taught by Ichirou's father, a boy they knew in school, but she had never really asked him if he'd teach her, and therefore goes about without one.

As she's grown older though, the need for an earthbending teacher lessened, because she learned that she could teach herself. She enjoyed this, as it opened her up to many possibilities and bending styles instead of one specific one traditional to a single teacher.

While she's content with the life she has in Gaoling, she's starving for an adventure. She's still fairly young though, and doesn't stress about it too much; if the Fates want to bring her a bit of fun, she has absolutely no issue with that, and just wants to get out of Gaoling to explore, as she is curious by nature.
