Zulera chuckled. "the only true preventative measure you can take is to live irregularly. as for my movement in the Capital, that depends on external circumstances. I would not put it completely out of mind just yet."

"mmm..." she sighed contently as he continued to massage her. "well... this is the one foolproof option that I will never say no to... but otherwise, I just like to live life; enjoy thrills, enjoy the small things, y'know? I'm somewhat of a minimalist when I want to be."
this, she knew, was true. although, while she did not *need* to have lots of money spent on her to make her happy, it never hurt. She just knew how to be happy through other, cheapre means as well.

Arashi

“I guess this is finally a place where we differ. I can’t stand simplicity. The bigger the better, the flashier, the more enjoyable. Go big or go home so to speak. I find minimalism dreadfully boring. Life’s too short and special to say you’ve simply lived. You should say that every day of your life, you did something new, met someone new, and lived a new way. That’s how I see it at least. But maybe that’s just the bitterness of a poor child seeping in? I apologize if that came across as whiny or self-indulgent, it was not the intent. Tell me, what were your travels like as a child? I imagine it would be a tale worth hearing, seeing things and doing things no other person can.”

No motivation here, maybe captivation? Arashi was not sure. He usually did not care for people’s life stories, they were dreadfully boring usually. Even the history of interesting people usually put him to sleep, valuing mainly what they are now instead of what they were then. But this was a legitimate inquiry for once. Perhaps, he wanted to find something to exploit? Or perhaps though uncharacteristic, he wanted to see if she had ever changed, he personality while a tad eccentric, was still surprisingly mundane to him. What made an Avatar different to a normal man other than their role? What separated them as a person? Unconsciously, he continued his massage, a rhythm appearing in the movements as if it were his own personal signature.

Zulera shrugged. "to each his or her own then, I suppose. here, it's a matter of simply it being unexpected. People see a powerful Avatar confident in her skills, and they expect to see her with a grandiose sense of superiority. I am hardly like that, nor do I want people clinging to me like some sort of celebrity. I do not mind attention, but too much of any good thing can turn it foul really quickly."

she paused for a moment, her mind taking a different set of rails. "but when I say minimalist, I simply mean in material things and wants. as far as the things I do IN my life... I do not think maximalist is a word, but the stories I could tell could probably fill a collection of sketchbooks 10 times the size of the collection I already have.
my travels as a child were similar to any young avatar's. I traversed the world, mastered the elements, and all that fun stuff. I also took a fancy for artistry, as well as the same type of witchcraft that my mother practices. It's all dreadfully boring stuff for such a mega-mogul such as yourself, but, that's the basic outline of the Avatar's humble origins."

she was not being totally sincere here, but she was being completely honest as to the story she had told. it was jsut one of the ways Zulera played.

Arashi

“I did not know you dabbled in the arts, both pen and arcane. Surely, the latter is not a common practice these days. I doubt that it would be boring to hear about. I’m curious as to how that would be practiced. How does it work?” he asked as he moved to the lower part of the back.

He was sure not to ask the typical question of “Do you believe in that?” when people are trying to inquire about someone’s practices. He’d heard people ask that about religious people all the time and it was rather pointless. If they did not believe it, why would they bring it up? No, asking how they believed it worked was the real question. It was not a really important thought or point to be honest, but it was something in Arashi’s mind, a pointless pet peeve of his he supposed. Just some wandering thoughts in his head as he spoke and rubbed.

Zulera let out a comfortable sigh as Arashi moved down to her lower back.
"it depends on the ritual, really." she replied, "most of them involve spirituality, others would require the elements, plants and herbs, or even blood in some cases. some of it is sacred rites that I cannot mention outside of certain places, others have more physical effects."

she was not going to go into terribly great detail, because her religion was her own business, and everyone saw the arcane and the spiritual matters of life differently.
"it's very much a tribal thing." she shrugged. "there are even rituals I go through before getting more tattoos from my mother."
she would not likely go into detail about those though, as they were intimate in nature. she remained relaxed, seeing how Arashi would take in this information.

Arashi

She wasn't very specific as to how the process worked. But then again, Arashi was not even sure if he would understand it if she had. Not to mention he did not really believe in that stuff anyways. Despite this, it was still a way of learning what made people tick, and more importantly what they wanted so he could get it. Exploitation of faith or gullibility was a rather simple approach but often the most fruitful.

“What do you perform them for? Rituals for luck, bounty?” he heated his hands some more. And whispered, his hot breath to her back again, “Warmth? What do you do these for other than tradition or wholeness from the structure it provides? Are some the tattoos stories that should never be uttered?”

He moved his finger up a smaller section in her back. “Maybe this is a symbol I should not know of? If you squint a little and tilt your head slightly then it kind of looks like something that may make someone blush.”

Zulera Joanna Tallarico

Zulera was always careful what she said about herself, and moreso, how much she told. She would always be fairly open to tell a few of the basics, but never get terribly in-depth. It was a cunning technique that would leave people asking questions--or at least guessing.
She did not speak of her religion much, because she didn't expect and did not want people to understand it. She was no missionary. While she believed that the world would be a better place if more people thought the way she did, she was not out to make the world a better place, which was somewhat ironic given her position as the Avatar.

The hair on her neck stood up as his warm breath sent a wave of heat down her back. "sometimes all of the above. it depends on the time of day, who is involved, and the type of ritual. Most of it is secret, and like most secret things, saying too much would somewhat defeat the purpose, no?"
her eyes were closed and her back still to him as he massaged it, her top still laying on the edge of the table, forgotten.

she chuckled at his last quip. Perhaps it had been an attempt to mock her religion, or perhaps just some good fun. whatever the case, Zulera had an answer at her fingertips.
"ah, so that's what you see in it..." she shrugged, "no worries. "People are not exactly known for understanding them... or much else I say and do. Leaving people to their own misinterpretations and confusions is a bit easier, wouldn't you say?"
her tone was gentle, for she was very relaxed. She was not even trying to win or lose anything out of these remarks. She just felt they needed to be said.
