Personality: (241) Her mother would often say that Noe was a firebender in a waterbender's body; the young woman's emotions were often fierce and volatile, clouding her judgement each and every time. Even positive emotions, like happiness or love, would bring about strong responses, regardless of consequence. As such, Noe often suppressed her emotions in battle, making her a deadly opponent, but also somewhat of a liability, as she wouldn't notice her injuries until long after.

Despite her occasional emotional turmoil, Noe is a very hard worker who excels at physical activities. Her patience is well honed from hunting, and she also has a strong protective streak, which makes her the ideal warrior for her Tribe.

When Noe does have an emotional outburst, she usually distances herself from everyone, retreating to a calm, quiet place to assess the situation as if she were an outsider. It is hard for her to apologize, but since she's had to make so many, over the years, it's grown progressively easier; even if not all of them are sincere. The one person who always garners a positive apology and emotional response from Noe would be her sister, Illua.

Very few people get to see her romantic side (indeed, some might wonder if it existed at all), but Noe does cling to her pure, childhood expectations of true love. She has yet to meet the lucky man who would be able to put up with her extreme emotions.


Abilities: (228) Noe became adept with her notched club long ago, when she first began hunting on her own. The weapon would either stun her prey, if it was a large animal, or dispatch it entirely, if it were smaller; though each time, it would leave the pelt intact for use in clothing or other necessities. The jaw blade, which she made herself from an arctic wolf, was also mastered early, as a way for her to skin and butcher her kill on the ice.

For battle, she then began training to use her club on human targets, studying weak points in the human anatomy. Though, she would often say that bashing someone over the head was easier and required far less work and memorization. When Noe first heard the legend of the Boy who Loved the Moon, she began training to use a boomerang, but isn't very good at the finesse it requires.

Her waterbending prowess came later, when she began training to use it for combat. Offensively, Noe commanded an extensive move set, though she often used ice-based abilities, such as freezing water droplets and hurling them at her opponents, or bringing ice spikes up from the snow beneath them, piercing at their feet and legs. She didn't often employ her shielding techniques, despite knowing how to use them, and often referred to her methods as "Berserker Style".

(228) With her rounded features and lithe form, Noe is easy enough on the eyes. Her dark brown hair is very short for a woman of the Water Tribes; just barely down to her chin in the front and layered in the back. Her hips were slim, rather than the usual full sweeping curves of the other woman, and her chest was smaller, as a result, though Noe certainly didn't mind; it made it easier to wear her armor.

Though she had worn heavy furs and thick clothing and battle gear in the snow, Noe now wore much thinner fabric in the heat. Her tunic had been replaced with a simple white and teal cotton shirt, and her pants had become loose, flowing brown shorts that fell just below her knees. She now enjoyed going barefoot when walking, but also had boots, when necessary. She still had not forsaken her armor, most of which is still tied on, giving her a certain level of security, along with comfortable movement.

With her battle club tied to her waist, the boomerang in a sheath on her back, and her jaw blade fastened to her thigh, it was unlikely that she would meet with much trouble on the roads. Noe has also taken to carrying an emergency water skin at her hip, for those pesky times when she's nowhere near the ocean.

Description: One more traditional Water Tribe weapon in Noe's arsenal. She doesn't know how to use it, but she's practicing!

Materials: Animal Bones, Leather, Cord Ties
Description: Pieces of armor that are typically worn over the traditional Water Tribe battle uniform, these can also be tied on over anything and offer decent protection.


History: (565) Noe was born in the Northern Water Tribe to two waterbenders. Her mother was a healer and a housewife, while her father was a warrior, though he also helped build homes and other buildings from the snow and ice. Once it became clear that their daughter was prone to heavy emotions and strong outbursts, the household had become almost forcefully calm, in order to help her cope. The arrival of her baby sister had been hard for the four-year-old Noe, because of all the noise that tends to come with babies, but she had soon come to accept the new addition to the family.

As she grew older, Noe enjoyed watching her father and the other warriors training, and decided that it was what she wanted to do, as well. Once she showed promise and dedication - not to mention an emotional focus that she'd never had before - both of her parents had agreed to her choice and presented her to begin her training with a waterbending teacher. She excelled in most of the combative skills, but neglected defense, which worried her mother, in particular. She was afraid that her daughter would get herself killed. To the contrary, Noe did very well in every sparring match that she participated in, soaring through the ranks.

However... it was about that time that her emotional outbreaks resurfaced, particularly when she had idle moments of interaction with her peers and other young people. It was clear that she couldn't control them, and so she was not usually punished severely, but Noe spent more and more of her time alone, honing her skills away from the Tribe.

When she turned eighteen, something peculiar happened: Noe began hearing voices. They were only when she was alone, or hunting, and generally offered her advice, rather than ill-tidings. She had come to believe that they were whispers from spirit animals, and that they were guiding her, as her Tribe could not. For years, she kept very quiet about the voices and what they said, only offering shrugs and one-word explanations as to what she had been doing. Finally, she confided in both her mother and her younger sister, Illua.

Her mother panicked and immediately sought the help of the village healer. The news spread like wildfire, and Noe was relieved of her duties; sentenced to full-time healings from now on, until she was no longer 'mentally unstable'. Furious, Noe rebelled at once, screaming and throwing things around the medical facilities, unable to control herself. When they still would not allow her to attend tactical and weapons training, she packed her bags.

Just before she left her Tribe, Noe took her jaw blade in one hand, and her long, flowing brown ponytail in the other. Pulling on her hair, she cut it all off in one go, holding her knife close against her neck - she had renounced her Tribe and exiled herself into the world. Taking only her things and a small kayak, Noe was about to push off the ice floes, to head south, when her sister caught up to her, insisting on going too. There was a brief argument, but she was eventually forced to give in, helping Illua into the back of the kayak, handing her a paddle.

With that, they had set off together - though her sister did not cut her hair, as Noe had done.
