| Subject: Plotting for Sijo's Arch (and those who wish to associate) Mon Oct 21, 2013 7:27 pm | |
| Hello once again, everyone. So now that Sijo's character sheet has been accepted, it is time to get into the nitty-gritties of plotting out his story arch. For those of you who have read his profile, I am sure you have a pretty good idea of what his drive is. For those of you who are going "who is this chump?", I'll give you the "too long, didn't read reader's digest" version:
Sijo was once a high ranking officer in the Fire Nation military. When Fire Lord Novai usurped, Fire Nation command gave Sijo an order he could not follow because he is a good and morally sound person at his core. For his disobedience, Sijo was charged with treason and imprisoned at Boiling Rock. There, he was tortured by Novai's best specialists. The torture ended up blocking/damaging the five crucial chakras required for any kind of successful bending. With the torture done, Sijo was exiled, doomed to die a slow death by his own gift of Bending. A guru told Sijo, after every other medicinal practice failed, that he needed to learn, understand, and accept the teachings the other Bending arts/elements have to offer. If he were to truly master and understand the forms and ideologies of the other three elements, his chakras would be cleared.
There you have it in a nutshell, but because I am cruel to my characters and love to see them develop under pressure, certain Chakras will require more than just the teachings from all four elements. The Chakras Sijo has blocked/damaged are as follows:
Muldhara (Root) Chakra Element: Earth Location: Base of the Spine The Root Chakra brings might, zeal, and physical energy to ones life. It represents strong foundation. A blocked Root Chakra means that one will be sapped of energy.
Swadhisthan (Sacral) Chakra Element: Water Location: Below the navel The Sacral Chakra is linked to ones well-being. The Sacral Chakra gives on the ability to be free and fluid - to roll with the punches that life tends to throw and to find well-being despite hardships that may come. Having this Chakra blocked will make one stubborn and bull headed, unable to flow around the obstacles of life. It also impedes the pleasures one feels in life, impeding their overall wellbeing.
Manipura (Solar Plexus) Chakra Element: Fire Location: Upper abdomen The Solar Plexus Chakra represents self-control, self-confidence, and self-esteem. Because of the control it gives, the Manipura is associated with the element of Fire so that firebending can be controlled. With this Chakra blocked, a Firebender has little-to-no control over his or her bending. Unable to focus the flames, the fire will spread and damage all around it without remorse.
Anahata (Heart) Chakra Element: Air Location: Center of the Chest The Heart Chakra embodies ones ability to love. To have the Anahata blocked or damaged means that one will suffer from a hardened and jaded heart. They cannot find peace within themselves or other people. A hardened heart breeds bitterness and anger.
Ajna (Brow/Third Eye) Chakra Element: Light and Dark Spirit Location: The brow Ajna is the balance of light and dark within ones spirituality. Balance is at the center of all things in the universe and the Ajna embodies that ideal. With the Anja Chakra disrupted, the balance of light and dark within ones own spirit is disrupted, meaning that the dark within the unbalanced individual.
There is the long and short of it. With each of these Chakras comes challenges for Sijo to overcome, trials to face, people to meet, and lessons to learn. For the sake of story, I am going to be deviating from the traditional ways of healing chakras, because eating fruit and drinking tea while doing yoga makes for a boring read. If anyone has ideas, don't be shy. The more heads on this hydra the more fun we will have.
I know that I want Sijo to visit each of the nations for his training, but there can be all kinds of challenges, [mis]adventures, comedies, and tragedies along the way. There is plenty of room for friends, enemies, rivals, lovers, and so on.
