The massive airship "Heaven's Feel" was soaring through the clouds quickly covering distance. Kei was casually leaning over the railing on the side of the ship looking down towards the earth. Despite it being in the middle of the day, it wasn't hot outside due to how high they were up in the sky.
He had received the job of guarding the cargo on the ship from bandits and raiders. As the job simply involved taking an Air Ship from Ba Sing Se to the Southern Water tribe, Kei quickly accepted the job, knowing that likelihood of raiders attacking a ship thousands of feet in the air was unlikely.
What Kei didn't understand about the job was why they had hired two freelancers to guard the ship. It seemed a bit excessive to him. Were his clients expecting something to happen?
The other person besides Kei who had taken on the job to guard the cargo was a girl who wasn't very tall and had messy, brown curly hair. Kei didn't bother to get to know her as the job was supposed to be a quick one.
Unfortunately, that was never the case on any of his jobs.
There was a loud explosion near the front of the airship and there was much yelling on board the ship. "The captain is dead! I am taking control of this ship and all who wish to live must follow my orders!"
Kei hurried to the direction of the yelling which led him into the control room. Kei stood in the door way of the control and came across three dead bodies and 5 men armed with crossbows and swords. The men pointed their crossbows at Kei and Kei held his hands up at chest level to show he was unarmed.
"Surrender, or we'll kill ya." Called one of the men. Kei spoke with a fake fear hoping he would be able to catch the men by suprise, "Woah Woah Woah, easy there. Can't we work out some deal? I'm supposed to guard the cargo on this ship, but I also like living. Isn't there a way for me to get paid and live?"

| While 'officially', Lyndis was nothing but a humble butcher residing in the Earth Kingdom (despite her Air Nomad heritage, no less), those that knew her more closely knew that she was also good at protecting things, and making an example out of those who tried her. While some of her methods were less than savory, she got the job done, and never harmed even a hair on the head of an innocent man or woman.
The job seemed easy enough though--guard a ship hundreds of feet in the air... there would be nowhere for a miscreant to run from her if they dared cross the line with her. See'd teach them. And yet, instead it was basically just boring. Nothing happened, and her comrade, another freelancer, didn't seem too talkative either. He looked Fire Nation... she wasn't sure what she must look like to him.
Welp, as soon as that first explosion was heard, Lyndis scrambled after the taller man as they raced to the cockpit to hopefully assess the damage and maybe find a way to resolve the problem. Well, Lyndis was determined to work something out, where "work something out" meant "messily slaughter anyone involved in the mayhem." Such was how this wacky airbender worked. She pulled out some of "the girls" between her fingers, sliding into the room with an odd lack of traction given that she was barefooted. it was probably something to do with airbending, although there was no telling unless it was a particularly keen eye. Either way, a pair of knives left Lyn's hands and landed right in the throats of two of the men. This little woman had not even shown any actual bending skills (except some stealthy airbending), so as far as these thugs knew, she couldn't bend at all.
For all of this though, Lyndis only had a one-word response before she smirked, twirling a few more knives in her hands. "Whoops."

"Jeez!" Kei exclaimed extremely startled at the sudden appearance of the other girl who was hired for the job. Her take down of two of the men was extremely violent and happened out of no where.
The other three men were also startled and jumped back at the sight of the very sudden deaths of their comrades. One of the men pointed their crossbows at the girl, but before they could fire, Kei threw a shuriken at the crossbow jamming the firing mechanism so that the bolt could not be fired. Another man fired a bolt at Kei. The bolt hit Kei in the right part of the chest, but his special trench coat and mail armor underneath prevented it from piercing him and the bolt snapped in half upon impact. Even so, Kei knew that it would leave a nasty bruise later.
Kei quickly closed the distance between the man who fired the bolt at him and the man with the jammed crossbow. Grabbing them both by the neck, Kei used his lightning affinity and sent enough electricity to knock a man unconscious into the bodies of both of the men. Both of them gave an painful scream then fell to the floor, unconscious.
Kei then heard an explosion from the rear of the ship that was possibly due to another battle near the rear of the aircraft. The entire aircraft shook and the left side began to dip. Kei stumbled trying to regain his balance. It was clear to him that the ship was quickly losing altitude and was heading straight for the earth.

| Naturally, they weren't too happy about getting two of their men shot down, and the man next to her was also rather surprised. She had a feeling that she might be the only girl on this ship, but didn't think much about that right now.
Those that still had working crossbows fired repeatedly at Lyndis, who dodged them with alarming agility. They were clearly not used to such swift individuals, and soon enough, they learned one of the causes of Lyndis' agility. One of them shot at her foot, and she dodged it just barely, although nearly lost her footing. She blew with her mouth towards the ground to right herself, and then chuckled. "hehehe..."
She felt that they worked together as a team fairly well. he incapacitated or knocked most of them out, and Lyndis got to finish them off. Koume and Kotake did that well enough for the two unconscious ones, getting blood all over her pants and tunic as she ended their lives, before pouncing on the remaining man and ending his a moment later. Her timing almost seemed impeccable, given that no sooner had she offed the rest of them, than another explosion rumbled through the ship, which began listing to the left.
"shit! hold onto your butts!" she snapped, conjuring an air sphere to float on for a moment before something from beside her smacked her on the head and knocked her down. "achi!" she cried out, before gripping a support beam with her hands and bare feet, hoping that she was high enough off the ground that when they made impact, she wouldn't just get killed then and there.

Kei was going to question why the girl had killed the men who were already knocked out, but the left side of the aircraft kept dropping and was now almost directly below the right side. Kei held on to railing on the right side in order keep from falling through one of the windows of the control room on the left side which was now directly below him. A couple of the dead bodies from the small girl's slaughter had already rolled off through the windows of the control room and off of the ship.
The nose of the ship began to dip as well, and soon, the ship was in a free fall plummet toward the earth. Looking out the window, Kei saw they were above the ocean and appeared to be headed for an island. Kei unequipped the massive sword from his back and planted it in the floor of the airship, knowing that hitting the ground really hard with the blade on his back could be very dangerous. As the ship kept falling ever so faster, random parts of the airship such as the flaps and propellers were being ripped away. The whole ship was falling apart. Kei looked back at the groud and saw they were close enough to the island that it was possible to see each individual leaf in the trees.
Kei braced for impact.
----------------------------------------------------------
Retrieving his two-handed sword Kei stumbled away from the wreckage of the airship. From what he could tell, he got lucky and only suffered from bruises and cuts. His worse injury was a gash just above his left eyebrow, but it had already begin to scab over. It seemed that he was knocked unconscious for a couple of hours when the airship crashed because when he came to, the sun was already setting.
Looking back at the ruins of the airship, Kei was certain he was probably not being payed for this job. Oh well. Not like that hasn't happened before.
It seemed that they had 'landed' in the middle of a tropical forest. There was a clearing of trees where the airship had fallen. Kei could see the beach just in front of him just passed a small treeline. Kei figured he better find if anyone else was still alive and possibly shelter for the night.
"Hello!?", Kei called out, searching for survivors, "Is anyone else there?"

| if they were out cold they could come back to life... or they might have been faking it. Well... and they had just pretty much doomed the entire ship, and so those were the kinds of wrongdoers that Lyndis wanted to put an unholy end to right then and there... so, that's what she did. She gripped the support beam tightly, her feet losing their grip but her hands remaining firm. They were definitely spiralling out of control and most certainly going to crash. On the plus side... excitement. On the downside... spirits-know where they were about to end up, and they could die and explode. or explode and die. Either or.
She wasn't sure who else was on the ship, but hopefully they braced themselves, because there was no turning back from this one. She hoped her glider could be salvaged... or that she could make another one from the island that they were about to crash on.
----
welp, they crashed. That much was certain. Lyndis woke up with a nasty cut on her forehead that was dripping blood down into her face. Her right hand was also as soaked in blood as her left hand, which confused her. She touched the dried blood on her left hand as she slowly came into focus and remembered that that was not her blood. Her right hand stung though and the blood was fresher. That meant that some of it was hers.
Was she alone on a deserted island, just like in the fairy tales? well... maybe she'd find out. ...or not. She heard a voice--it sounded like the guy who had been hired alongside her as the other freelancer. Well... she wheezed our a response. "Over here..." she murmured. She was still equipped with her weapons, and so if it was a foe or a hostile target, she could probably do them in.
but nope. it was just him. She smirked, still a bit shaky on her feet. "hey... you survived..." she chuckled, smirking and wiping blood from her face into her hand. "name's Lyndis, by the way. I don't think we introduced ourselves." She knew that he had no idea where they were either, so didn't bother asking. "Did you meet any other survivors?"

Great. Kei thought to himself. The only other survivor he found after the crash was the the girl who was hired along to guard the ship with him. Truth was, she kind of scared Kei.
"Hi," Kei began a bit shyly, "My name is Kei, Jack Of All Trades. I haven't seen any other survivors yet, I was actually kind of hoping you did."
Kei noticed that she was covered in blood. "Are you okay?" Kei asked concerned, "You seem to have taken quite a bit damage from the crash."
He decided not to ask why Lyndis needlessly killed the men who were already defeated back on the airship as it was not the most pressing matter at the moment. Kei began to speak to Lyndis. "We should see if we can find any useful supplies from the wreckage as well as possibly find shelter for the night."

| If he had asked at all about the men that she had killed, it would have been "explained" via Lyndis' warped sense of justice. Whatever the case, that was water under the bridge, and now they were alone thus far, as it did not appear there were any survivors. Not that Lyndis had checked, (she'd be willing to check as well, mind you), but she figured they had been out a couple of hours by now.
She shook her head to indicate the negative when asked about survivors. "Lyndis Jay Montoya II's the name." she replied. Despite her wild and daresay somewhat aggressive personality, Lyndis' voice almost seemed foreign for who its owner was. It was very soft; gentle... it had an almost motherly tone to it.
"I'm fine..." she admitted, "most of this ain't mine." she glanced at her right hand though, where that blood was hers, as was most of it that was on her face. "how 'bout you? find anyone? you feeling okay?"
She nodded in agreement to go salvage whatever was left of the smoldering wreckage. If enough of the ship was intact, they could use that as shelter for the time being, just to get out of the elements for a night or two or whatnot. Thus, the airbender began walking back to the wreckage to see what else she could find.

"I'm alright," Kei responded to Lyndis's question on whether he was okay, "Come on, lets see what we can find." He was honestly a bit surprised to hear how warm Lyndis's voice actually was, definately not what he was expecting.
After searching through the wreckage of the airship, the only thing Kei was able to find was a few days worth of food. He hadn't been able to locate any survivors or strangely enough anything that might have been the cargo both him and Lyndis were supposed to guard.
One of the cabins of the crashed airship was still intact, and Kei suggested to Lyndis that they should both spend the night in cabin.
"Don't worry," Kei said trying to convince Lyndis, "I promise I won't do anything weird as I am not a pedophile or anything like that."

| "got it." she nodded. Lyndis was certainly the epitome of not being what she seemed though. As crazy and bloodthirsty as she might have seemed, she was actually very specific about who she killed, and as crazy and shameless as she appeared, her voice was actually very sweet and gentle, and she was very calm and collected.
Lyndis was light on her feet and rummaged through the wreckage efficiently but to no avail. All she found was a bit of food and supplies, which meant they could subsist a bit out here before needing to hunt or whatever else. She too wondered what the special cargo was, hoping that maybe if they salvaged it, that there was an off-chance they could still get paid for this gig. Either way... it seemed it was just her and that fire guy.
She chuckled at his offer though after they found the cabins. "Don't worry... I'm 23 anyways. you're kinda cute too." Lyndis might have flirted with pretty much anything or anyone, but she was honestly just trying to be polite and such, and thus she had clarified her age.

Welp. Kei thought to himself. He messed up hard, but even so, Lyndis had taken it suprisingly well. Most women usually punched him for comments similar to that.
Well, since she was over 18, that technically meant all doors were open even though Kei didn't intend for anything that close to happen between the two. Well, she did say Kei was kind of cute, but she meant it to be sincere... right?
Kei was obviously getting a bit worried now about where this path was headed and he wasn't mentally prepared for the destination. He'd better change the subject now with some simple small talk.
"T-t-thanks," Kei replied nervously to Lyndis's compliment (Or at least that's all he hoped it was), "I like your... eyes."
Crap, Kei thought to himself as he turned pale, That probably came off as me coming on to her. He didn't mean to be flirty back, but truth was, her brown eyes really stood out amongst the rest of her facial features.

| Lyndis did not seem like the type to get easily offended, and thus... perhaps unsurprisingly, she did not take offense from this as a result. She was definitely young and charming, even if she was not actually as young as her diminutive stature might have suggested.
Honestly... Lyndis was A-OK with the direction that this conversation was heading as they made their way into the remains of the cabin to get comfortable. It was slightly slanted, but nothing too bothersome, and after applying enough pressure on one end, something cracked beneath them and straightened the place out.
At getting her eyes complimented, a small blush actually appeared on Lyndis face, but she gave him the sweetest smile in return. "thank you." she said softly, shaking some hair out of her face. "I... suppose we should straighten this place out so we can find a good place to sleep then, eh?" She said little, but it was clear that she was rather flattered all of a sudden. This would be an interesting night.

Kei wasn't expecting a blush and a smile so sweet that Lyndis had given him. It didn't seem to belong to the same girl who killed the men back when the airship was still afloat. Perhaps there was a reason she was as violent as she was up there, and he simply got a bad first impression of her. Kei decided he would completely put that behind her now, and start over with getting an image of who she is.
Anyhow, she had blushed at Kei's compliment which meant she felt some sort of emotion through it. Kei hoped Lyndis didn't think he was hinting at something intimate from happening later that night. However when she had said they should find a place to sleep for the night, the words 'we' and 'sleep' stood out to him in her sentence.
Kei decided to play it safe. "I call over there on that pile of furs." Kei said pointing to a pile of furs which easily looked to be the comfiest area in the cabin. He hoped that by claiming it to himself and not offering it too Lyndis, it would definitely appear that he was not trying to come onto her.

| It was hard to truly get an idea of what Lyndis was like unless one was around her for long enough, where "long enough" was probably several days at the very least. She was misunderstood for sure, but on the other hand, she did not have the common negative connotations that normally surrounded such an adjective. For one thing, she was actually very sweet and kind most of the time, unless she was killing someone. Even then though, she might viciously rip some enemy's throat out with her teeth and then turn to her friend and remind him or her that she has their back.
But there were not such radical emotions at this point in time. No, Lyndis was fairly calm and was ready to lie down and rest. Heck if she had any idea where they were, or how long they'd be here, but she was just gonna have to crack down and deal with it. There was not really any other choice till they could find a way out and.or off the island.
Lyndis' eyes swiftly glanced around as Kei tried staking dibs on somewhere to sleep. Yeah... he was not about to take the most comfortable spot. Maybe she was a selfish little crap, but that was her spot. "Mine." she scampered over towards the pile of furs, protecting them like a dog guarding something dear or something symbolic like that. on that note, she curled up, almost in a feral position, no less, and closed her eyes. "g'night."

Kei sighed too himself out of relief. Sure Lyndis had secured the best spot in the cabin for herself, but at least she had immediately went to sleeping. It would would greatly lessen the chance of anything serious happening between the two that night. Anyways, Lyndis looked way too comfortable and he was pretty sure he would lose a finger or two trying to pull her out of the makeshift bed.
Using a random rucksack as a pillow, Kei set up his bed on the side furthest away from Lyndis, mostly so that the two of them could have their own personal space. He didn't know much about Lyndis, but he didn't bother to get to know her that night. She had already begun sleeping and Kei was sure they would have plenty of time to learn about each other tomorrow.
"Night." Kei said, replying to Lyndis. He thought it was strange how peaceful everything seemed now despite the chaotic events that occurred earlier that day.
Well, it may be peaceful now, Kei thought to himself, But I am sure tomorrow will come with challenges. Its best if I gather my energy now.
Kei closed his eyes and let his weariness take over, drifting off into a silent slumber...

| The good news for Kei was that it was not like Lyndis was going to try and advance on him or anything during the night. Instead, she remained curled up, and her face loosened as her eyes remained closed and instead, a rather serene expression appeared as she remained asleep.
Lyndis had never been terribly picky about where she slept, and this was no exception. She had slept on cold hard ground before, and so to have even a little padding the way she did was actually good enough for her. Of course, perhaps to Kei's relief, she was also still fully dressed, only her head, her feet, and her bloodstained hands poking out from her pants and tunic.
She might have thought that the peace was odd, but at the same time, she was an odd girl (woman), and was very peaceful at the moment too, almost like a true old-fashioned Air Nomad. Either way, she remained sleeping peacefully through the night, provided that nothing happened between now and morning.

Kei awoke the following day and upon stepping out of the cabin, he could see that it late in the morning. He decided to another walk around the wreckage of the airship and see if he could find anything new.
Unfortunately, he didn't as majority of the ship was buried in the ground and even with the proper tools, it would require a lot of manpower and time to dig the entire ship out. Well, that was unless you were an Earth Bender.
Kei didn't know yet really anything about Lyndis and it was possible she was an earth bender. Perhaps his streak of unluckiness would be over.
Toward the cabin, Kei called out, "Lyndis? Are you awake? I wanted to know if you happened to be an earth bender."

| Lyndis was a fairly late sleeper, and so she was lazily snoring away in her corner by the time Kei woke up, still lost in dreams. This was not necessarily the first time that she had been in a situation like this, but she was fairly certain that this would make a fairly interesting story if she crawled out of it alive. She seemed to have a way with doing that though, so she wasn't concerned.
She eventually started to stir, stretching her legs in such a way that, if she had not been fully clothed, would have been incredibly suggestive and erotic. Either way, she was alone, and then proceeded to belch and scratch her armpit, smacking her lips as she slowly sat up. She heard Kei's voice not long afterwards.
"Ja... I'm awake." she grunted, blinking a few times to try and get the room into focus, "but nah. Airbender." it seemed like a very random and arbitrary question, but she was sure that it had a purpose. "I'm not naked or anything; you can come in if y'want." she added.

Kei sighed upon finding out that Lyndis was an Airbender. It meant that they were probably not going to dig up the rest of the ship.
Also Kei noted that even Lyndis did seem to be a mostly nice person so far, using peaceful to describe her wouldn't be right. He thought this was a humorous thought because it seemed like peaceful air benders were rare these days.
Kei walked into the cabin and sat on the floor against the wall opposite of Lyndis. Not having anything better to do, Kei decided to start up a conversation.
"So why were you escorting the cargo?" Kei asked Lyndis, "I don't know of any Air Bender who does mercenary work, one could say that it's simply not in their nature."

| Peaceful might not have been the best way to describe Lyndis, but thanks to the efforts of a certain Xilingshi, most of the other Air Nomads were still fairly peaceful. Lyndis was not necessarily one of them given her "trigger-happy" methods of violence, but she had her flaws as well.
When Kei walked into the cabin, Lyndis as sitting cross-legged across from him, still on her pile of furs that she had used as a bed that evening. it was still fairly early (at least to her), and so she was still adjusting to waking up. her messy hair and bloodstained clothing did not add much to hear appeal, but at the same time, she was definitely still not ugly.
"I was bored; needed something to do," she shrugged. that was the reason she used for doing a lot of things, and so to use it for this one was not necessarily a far stretch either. Lyndis was something of a thrill-seeker, or someone who would do things just for the sake of doing them. That was at least, the story of how she wound up stumbling around the Northern Water Tribe once. But that was another story. "how about you?" she asked softly. "you unlike me *do* seem more suited for this kind of thing. Just trying to make some extra cash?"

Kei said jokingly, "You've immediately seen through my intentions, not bad. Anyways, yeah, I only took on this job because the pay seemed decent. Too bad events turned out like this, it seems like there won't be a pay now."
Kei was still trying to figure out what kind of person Lyndis was. According to her, she simply took the job because she was 'bored'. Did she have no goal in life and simply followed where the wind took her? Well because of her weaponry and apparel, it was clear to Kei that she was no simple Air monk if she even one was at all.
"What exactly do you do? You're either not a normal air nomad or I've been living under a rock for the past 5 years and this sort of thing is normal for Air Monks now."

| Lyndis shrugged. "fair enough... I mean, that was also kind of why I took it on. Even we airbenders need a bit of cash now and again. But heck... you've got a point. I don't even know what we were supposed to be guarding. It was a secret, they told me, but apparently now it's buried unless I can like, airbend the dirt and sand away from the ship... not likely though." she shook her head.
"I suppose at the end of the day I'm just more hired muscle." she answered in response to Kei's question. "Otherwise, I just follow this whim or that whim and let the wind take me where it feels I should go. I never really had any guidance in my life, and so I just did what felt right--well, and I murder people who deserve to be murdered." she admitted her own twisted sense of justice as if she was saying something small like her favorite color or whatnot.
"but yeah. there's a reason I'm not really associated with the classic Air Nomads." she chuckled. "but that's me. what do you do? do you firebend?" he definitely looked like he was from the Fire Nation, and hence her question.

Lyndis's quote "I murder people who deserve to be murdered" reminded Kei how he himself was like a few years back. Back when he believed that peace could only be achieved by killing those who opposed it. He no longer believed in such a thing however and now hardly ever killed. Death is the ultimate punishment that could be given and such a punishment shouldn't be easily handed out. Not everyone is evil because they choose to be, everyone has their own ideals and beliefs to whats right and to them, you're the one who's evil. Kei believed it wasn't his duty any longer to decide what's right or wrong, such is the work of a god.
He didn't tell Lyndis any of this however. Her path was her choosing. All Kei could do was hope that Lyndis would one day find another resolve.
To Lyndis's question upon whether Kei was a fire bender, Kei friendly responded while scratching the back of his head, "Many people say I'm a decent Fire Bender, but truth is, I'm a very crappy one. I have no talent at being able to produce flames, it's pretty embarrassing."

| To Lyndis, there was no such thing as right and wrong; just differing perceptions. She was aware that her methods were not right for everyone, but that did not make them inherently wrong either. Having never been properly taught one way or the other, she sort of just built her own set of morals. It was not to say that she was against hearing out others; she had just never been taught differently.
To her, it was just a matter of "to each their own" or something like that. Lyndis minded her own business until someone else abused that privilege with someone else. Then she'd attack them. Something like that. Surely it had flaws, but Lyndis either did not care or was not aware of them.
"so are you good at anything else then?" she asked curiously, "surely you've got to have some impressive abilities if you've lived as long as you have doing what you do, yes?"

Kei wasn't really one for bragging so he decided to take the humble approach to Lyndis's question.
"Not really, I just happen to be a really lucky guy." Kei told Lyndis with a light chuckle. "I've been in so many awful situations before, it's a wonder I'm still breathing."
Kei didn't necessarily lie to Lyndis, what he said was true. He just simply didn't explain the full extent of his abilities. He wasn't very open when it came to talking about his own being with other people.
With another smile even larger than before, Kei tried to flatter Lyndis into talking about herself instead. He didn't realize that he might have simply appeared to be very flirtatious.
"Enough about me, I'm not that unique of a person anyways, tell me about yourself, I'm far more interested in learning about you. I know you have a great story or something like that behind you."
