| Isikiro Sherazi Anazalrok
| Isikiro laid in bed for a while, contemplating everything that had happened earlier that day (or yesterday?) she had in fact woken up in the middle of the night, but unlike what she had feared in the carriage coming home from the ladies’ day out, this was not her miserable little shack. She felt her bare back. Her scars were still gone. ”that was all real…” she mused in her head, still amazed by what had happened. Her life had been repaired… her family had been saved…
Everything wasn’t all perfect though. There was still Kyla… poor, poor, Kyla. Isi got after her a lot for beign so hard on herself, but she had no right to be so angry at something that had been so beyond her control. She had not triggered that mining accident that had destroyed her legs and taken her husband. Isi knew why she was so upset with herself though. She had lost her ability to do anything effectively, and since Isi was the only one old enough to work, the burden of caring for the family fell entirely on her. She had had to watch her eldest daughter suffer in the mines and sacrifice her life and her childhood, just to prevent her and the other children from starving. They tried to work when they could, but there was little they could do that was worthwhile. Thus, Isikiro took the brunt of it—never complaining other than at the oppressive lifestyle the mines had subjected her to…
But here she was now… now her life was perfect. Sure it might have sounded cheesy, but when you were the girl who had nothing, having anything at all made her feel amazing. She wasn’t sure when she finally fell asleep, but she woke up the next morning, where breakfast was almost on the table. It seems they had let her sleep in. She wasn’t sure how to react to this. But, breakfast was rather quiet other than Isi letting her family know that Shi-Hao was coming soon, and that they shouldn’t gush over her. She was just doing friendly business and helping someone else in need rather than being their savior.
Thus, when there was a knock at the door, Isi jumped to her feet. “Ah’ll gedit.” She nodded, and opened the door. Sure enough, there was Shi-Hao, looking as lovely and professional as ever. “C’mon in!” she invited her friend, “we wuz jus’ finishin’ breakfast…” though she gave Shi a look that said if they needed to talk in private, that she would follow. As far as the others knew, this was Isi heading off to work of some sort.

| Waking up bright and early was nothing new to the young heiress, and so Shi-Hao had no difficulties being at the guest cottage when she had said she'd be. Once again, in an attempt to avoid overwhelming the family that currently resided there, she dressed simply in a modest dress and sandals, neglecting to even style her hair beyond a standard brushing.
Isi was the one to answer the door at her knock, which made her smile. "I just came to check up on everyone, and to see if there was anything you need," Shi-Hao admitted, "I'm sorry that I disappeared last night, but it didn't seem right to intrude on a private family moment..." Sure, she probably didn't need to apologize, but she did want to explain, just in case. Sensitive matters, and all.
There wouldn't be any extravagant shopping trip today, most likely, and so Shi-Hao would probably show her friend the more mundane things that she did each day, to keep the estates going. Looking over ledgers was boring alone, but maybe the two of them could at least make an ordeal into something simply irksome?

| Admittedly, this morning Isikiro had neglected getting dressed much past a pair of shorts and a tank top. If she had some sneakers on her feet or something, she might have looked like she was jogging or something though, so it wasn't terribly immodest. Besides... Shi-Hao had technically seen just about every inch of Isi's naked body, so it was a moot point now anyways.
"sfahn..." Isi nodded at the apology, "Ah... well, y'wouldn'tve bin interruptin' too much Ah don' think... Ah mean... y'er th'reason this is'all possible." she motioned to the cottage behind her, and the table full of eating children. "but anyhoo... Ah told 'em not t'gush over ye' 'r nuttin'... but we're all really grateful 'fer it all." Isikiro was humble. that was unlikely to change in the near future.
"lemme jus' git dressed 'n say goodbah..." Isi ate breakfast habitually quickly since she usually woke up, ate, threw her work clothes on and was out the door before the others had even gotten to rise and shine. She returned a moment later in a nice casual outfit--another pair of pants and a long-sleeved shirt, with a sturdy pair of shoes that were not nearly as heavy as her old work boots. This was when she said her goodbyes (coupled now with "Ah'll see y'all tonaht, Ah promise"), before returning to Shi-Hao's side. "so... wut do we do t'day..." it was clear that there was something on her mind, but this was not about her--this was about her employer--well, and friend. but yeah... first things first.

| While Isi had been getting dressed, Shi-Hao greeted the rest of her family with a smile and a wave, as well as a pleasant "good morning". True to Isi's word, they didn't gush over her, but she was definitely feeling the thankful vibes that radiated from the gestures and returned greetings. While she declined breakfast, having already eaten, Shi-Hao promised to return sometime soon, to join them for dinner - at Kyla's insistence.
Once they were out the door, however, she could kinda tell that there was something on her friend's mind. "Oh, just boring paperwork stuff, to start off with," Shi-Hao mentioned, with a slightly dismissive wave, "Unless... there's something else we need to do, first? Do you need me to take you shopping to get anything for the house? Or your family?" That was sort of her guess, since she figured that Isi would have a hard time requesting something like that, without having it offered first.

| Isi was quietly pleased that Shi-Hao would come for dinner that evening, hoping to get her better acquainted with the rest of her family. She was definitely the black sheep of the family, given that the others were much less aggressive than her, and lacked the muscle definition they had had. Granted, they had also been starving for most of their lives, and had not been subjected to the grueling physical labor that Isi had, and so there was at least an explanation for it.
"ah... a'raht." she nodded. boring as it was, Isi liked learning about it so that she could one day know what she was doing when she started her business... whenever that would be, and however that may be. But her next question... well, Isi had to say it. "Well..." she took a deep breath, "Ah dunno if there's anythin' Ah 'kin actually do... but Ah wuz up las' naht thinkin' about me' mother. Ye've gone 'n helped me fix mah lahf... 'n now Ah kinda wanna try 'n fix hers... but Ah dunno how..." she sighed. it was definitely something that was clearly very important to her, and hopefully she wasn't coming off as too needy or demanding or anything. That would not do at all.

| Shi-Hao's ears practically perked up at the request from Isi - it surprised her (in a good way) to hear her friend asking her about such a thing. Taking a moment to decide how to put her words, Shi-Hao inhaled deeply and then let it out carefully. She'd be lying if she said she'd never considered offering Kyla a healing of her own, but if Isi wanted to do it for her mother... then Shi-Hao would help - rather than taking charge of the whole thing.
"I think that... a healing would definitely be possible," She began, looking over at her friend, to meet her gaze, "Though, Isi, I couldn't tell you what it will be like, for your mother... Your wounds were external, right? Hers may take a lot more time to fix, and a lot more recovery time afterward." While she didn't want to scare the other girl, she wanted to at least lay out the possibility, for it was a likely one, given Kyla's condition.
So, having gotten that out of the way, she followed up with the sweeter news. "I have, during my time running the Ni Kaihua estates and businesses, gotten to know an entire slew of healers... My resources are open to you, as well as my assistance," She mentioned, "I could help you get started, even, if you'd like. Show you how to assemble messages, or conduct interviews?"

| Isikiro nodded, closing her eyes. "well.. Ah know. y'can't jus' easily fix shattered legs 'r Ah think sumun' woulda made big money offa that bah now. Ah hope it ain't too late 'ither or sumthin'..." On the other hand, Kyla had been incapacitated for years, and so this would not be something terribly new for her. It hurt sometimes (physically) to walk, and so pain was not a stranger to her either.
"heck. Ah waited almost 23 years t'get outta th'hellhole Ah wuz in... Ah think we kin handle it." though her face changed when she heard that Shi-Hao was basically delegating this to her then, with her time and resources also at Isikiro's disposal. It was a bit of an awe-inspiring offer, but it was also significant because it would be more meaningful for Isi to be in charge of her mother's healing herself.
"this... this'd mean ever'thin t'me, Shi." she said sincerely, "how d'we start... where d'we start? Ah need t'learn it all now..." The thing about Isikiro was that once she started a project, she did not stop until it was completed or rendered impossible. This was exactly what she'd be doing here as well.

| Smiling, she reached out to take Isi's hand, giving it a slight squeeze for reassurance. "Well, let's get started, then?" the young heiress offered, tilting her head slightly, already having been walking back to the main house on the estate - which, thankfully, her friend had already been inside and thus wouldn't be overwhelmed by.
Given the 'yes', Shi-Hao would take Isi back to her office and have her friend sit at her desk, for a change. "You're going to be the person in charge of this," She reiterated, going through some files, meanwhile, searching for some information she kept on-hand, "So everyone will answer to you, and treat you with the respect of a project leader." Or, at least, they had better, if they valued their jobs.

| "Aye..." she nodded, "Ah'm ready when ye' are... 'zlong as y'er willin' t'help me 'n stuff, raht?" Otherwise, they walked back up to the estate. It was still pretty magnificent and while Isi no longer gasped in awe, she still looked around in every direction, perhaps one day fantasizing about moving her family into a place like this if she could get her business up and going. But, that would take some serious planning.
When she was prompted by Isi to sit at the desk, she did so, feeling a bit awed once again, to be in this kind of position. "Well... Ah reckon this is jus' findin' sumun' t'heal me' mother... we ain't buildin' a city 'r nuthin' here, are we?" she was just not entirely sure what someone needed to do to heal a woman's shattered legs. "So Ah guess that's th'firs' thing... wut kinda people do we need f'er sumthin' lahk this? healers, obviously... but who else?" Isi's mother being present was a given considering that she'd be the patient here, but otherwise, Isi was kind of at a loss--but she wasn't going to give up. She'd ask for help and make it work. She wasn't going to give up easily--or at all. She couldn't. She owed her mother at least this much.

| With a nod, Shi-Hao began placing documents out on the desk in front of her friend; they seemed to be like personnel records, or information sheets. "These are some of the healers I know of who do contract work with the Ni Kaihua estates," the young heiress began, "You can either read each one, to see who might be suitable for specialized healing with ill-mended bone shatters, or for healing of the legs in particular... OR, you could simply call them all in for interviews - whichever you think would be faster." Though she knew which she would choose to do, this was not her project; it was Isi's job now.
"Then," she continued, placing out several more of the same personnel documents, "You also need to find a post-trauma healer, for your mother's physical therapy once the initial healing is complete." This should be a bit easier, really, as Shi-Hao only laid out four or five different files on the desk, this time. Still, it seemed she wasn't finished.
In her hand remained another stack of files, which she placed in a pile at one end of the desk, separate from the others. "Once that's taken care of..." She concluded, nodding at the stack she'd just set down, "I think it might be beneficial to hire an extra set of hands to help your mother in the meantime. A personal assistant, if you will." She winked at Isi, when she used the term. "The healing may make the wound far more painful than it was at the time of injury... so your mother might not be well enough to clean up or cook each night; that's what this would be for. For these, however, I'd recommend interviewing each one that looked appealing to you, since they'll be working in your home."
Sure, it seemed like a lot - and it was - but it was all fairly necessary for an undertaking like this one. The undertaking was an important one, as well, so it wouldn't be good to do anything by halves, particularly since it was so personal for Isi.

| Isikiro was a bit overwhelmed at it all, and for a moment, she was listening attentively to everything Shi-Hao had to say, trying to frantically scribble it all down. her handwriting was not very legible, but she seemed to be able to read it just fine. She was trying to take notes as to what she should do, since this was in fact a difficult undertaking for her.
Bone and leg healer... post-trauma healer... personal assistant to help her cook and clean and take care of the youngsters... goodness this was going to be a lot of work. If only it could be as simple as healing her had been... but her mother's wounds ran deep... and knowing that... she couldn't just condemn the poor woman to live in that kind of misery forever if she had the time, energy and resources now to help rectify that. But at the same time... this was all a bit overwhelming for her, and she knew it--it showed as she clutched her hair.
"Shi..." she whimpered slightly. "Ah... Ah can't do all this alone..." she indicated the papers all in front of her, "n-not yet..." her eyes were watering, because to her, that means she felt like she had already failed. she wanted help; wanted to know which of these were all better, and to top it off, she was horrible with all but the gentlest of people. she didn't want to end up punching someone in the face for not being who she wanted, or something... but she needed to do this... for her mother.

| All at once, with a flash of deep guilt, Shi-Hao realized that she'd laid it all on far too thick, to start. Moving to her friend's side, the young heiress wrapped her arms around Isi, holding her tight. "It's okay..." She soothed her, or tried to, "I'm sorry; I shouldn't have thrown you into the deep end like that... I'll help you, okay? I promise." Leaning back to look into her friend's face, she tried to offer a smile, "See? You've already hired your assistant; you're a step closer to being finished!" She hoped that the joke would make Isi crack a smile, at least...
In the meantime, however, Shi-Hao rounded up the loose documents and stacked them into three neat piles. "Alright... let's start with this small one, shall we?" She suggested, placing a hand on the files of physical therapist healers, "Would you like me to read the profiles to you, so that you can make notes on each one?" This, really, was how Shi-Hao had started off, as well... though, in her place as teacher had been her father, while she had taken notes and performed the interviews and summons herself.

| Isikiro also felt a little guilty for just throwing her hands up in the air. She was normally not one to so quickly say she couldn't do it... but it had scared her. The notion that her mother's very life could be in her hands... well, she wanted everything perfect. Everything *needed* to be perfect. Her mother deserved that much.
She let out a weak chuckle. "heh... y'er raht..." she got the joke, trying to cover up her watery eyes and compose herself. "but yeh... that'd be great... Ah mean... they maht look good on paper, but wut if thar's sumthin' 'bout 'em personally that rubs y'th'wrong way, y'know? Lahk... look at me. Ah could say Ah wuz a real good worker who busted her ass 7 dayza week, but ah picked a faht wit' sumun' lookin' t'maybe hire me... Ah... wuz kinda a jerk." she shrugged.
"but aye... if ywouldn't mahnd... couldja please?" she looked up sincerely and humbly at her friend, "Ah... Ah want ever'thin' t'be perfect f'er her... she... she needs it. she deserves it..."

| Perching on the edge of the desk, Shi-Hao smiled at her friend and reached out to place a hand on her shoulder, once again to comfort. "I'll help you, so that you can make it perfect for her," She promised, once again making it about Isi doing this for her mother herself.
Then, opening the first file, the business-savvy heiress began to read them aloud. Mostly, the profiles began with names and experience levels, followed by examples of their work and occasionally with little blurbs about their personalities.
Once she had finished reading each one, Shi-Hao looked to Isi, to hear what she thought first before offering to give an opinion. While none of these were inherently bad, of course, some definitely stood out above others - though she would recommend asking at least two from each group to come in for an interview.

| If Isikiro's little outburst said anything about her, it was that there was still extreme amounts of humility in this small but solid creature. She knew when she couldn't do something alone... and she wanted help--she wanted to be able to do what it took to help her mother. Healing her would not only do well for her physical frame, but also for her emotional state of mind. If she was useful again, she'd stop mentally abusing herself and condemning herself as worthless. Isi hated seeing her do that, especially now that Isi was no longer being abused and forced to work long, grueling hours in the mines just to stay financially afloat.
She listened... she was a rather good listener--attentive to detail. That was how she sensed metal in the ground as well, mind you. While earthbending or brawling were her specialties, Isikiro could also metalbend. Anyhoo... she listened to them all, mentally noting the ups and potential downs of each one. No, she had to find the perfect people for Kyla's healing operation.
She did pick a couple that she thought stood out, pointing out aspects of their skill or personality that she thought sounded good. Hopefully she picked the right ones? "So... what're these two lahk?" she asked, pointing to the ones she had chosen and/or thought would be suitable candidates.

| Glancing down at the two files that Isi pointed to, the young heiress gave an approving nod. "I think that they're good choices," She agreed, gathering up the three or four remaining profiles, to return them to the master personnel folder, "Probably exactly who I would have thought of." It was the truth, of course, and not simple empty praise.
"Now what we need to do," Shi-Hao began to explain, taking out some letterhead stationary, "Is to send them a greeting and a request for an interview. During the first correspondence, the reason for a meeting isn't generally explained, since it can be a sensitive issue - like this one." Wealthy folk didn't usually like rumors spreading around when they needed a healer, after all, but Isi seemed like a private person, as well.

| "really?" she hoped that Shi was being honest, because empty praise would be worse than honesty for Isikiro. it was good to know that she had chosen who would probably be the most likely candidates. Her little paper had been abandoned, and so all that was there was the blocky, messy scrawls that were Isi's frantic handwriting.
"Mah handwritin' ain't all that great," she admitted, "but Ah 'kin make it legible at least..." she began writing on that scrap paper to show Shi-Hao an example. "uhm... could... couldja help me though?" she asked, "Ah mean... Ah kin wraht it... jus... Ah ain't alwyas th'bes with words... Ah'd probably jus try'n wraht it lahk as if Ah wuz speakin' to 'em 'r sumthin'." She wanted to do her part... but it wasn't like she'd suddenly become charismatic overnight or anything. | "Of course," Shi-Hao agreed, having intended to write the first few, as an example for Isi anyway. Taking up a piece of nice paper, with the Ni Kaihua Estates emblem and header, she took up a separate pen and began to write, speaking the words aloud as she did. The plan was to show Isi how to do the first few, and then to let her try the last set herself. Thankfully, it was really just writing out one letter than then duplicating it, for the multiple parties receiving it, which could be done fairly simply.
Though the young heiress used rather formal language, she didn't mince words or hide behind flowery prose. "For healers especially, you want to be brief," She told Isi, who was listening, "Since they're typically very busy people." Then, at the end, she simply signed the papers with the Ni Kaihua Estate and Businesses emblem. "That's a must, as well," She smiled, "So they know what sort of fee to expect, which should get them here quickly."

| "well ya..." Isi shrugged, "Ah'm jus' not very elo-quent..." the fact that she couldn't even get that word right might have also said a bit about it, but Isi wasn't worried about her word choice. She just needed to make sure that she found the right person to do something so risky with her mother like this.
She watched and she learned. "well... Ah'm purdy good at bein' brief... Ah guess Ah jus wanna tell folks tha' this is... kinda an import'nt thingy... jus'... wouldn't sumun' get suspicious if they saw m'ugly handwritin' with y'er seal on it? maht make 'em think sumun' stole it 'r sumthin'..." but, Isi was there to give input where and when she could... she just wanted to make sure that there were no flaws. Nothing could go wrong... nothing. Otherwise, it would probably throw Isikiro into considerable despair, if her little outburst earlier was anything to go by.

| Shi-Hao wrote out most of the message while dictating to herself, so that Isi could see how it was done. Then, with a little wink, she mentioned, "If you don't like your own handwriting, it's acceptable to have a secretary do the actual writing portion for you... You speak the words aloud, just like I did, and your secretary will format the message and make sure it gets sent to the right person."
This was explained out because, as she had thought earlier, the young heiress believed that Isi would be a good choice for managing the mines, once Shi-Hao went and turned them upside down. Or, failing that, at having her own business someday. Perhaps then, Isi's mother could manage the mines, so that she would have work once again, as soon as she was fully healed and able to get up and around.

| Isi nodded. "aye... Ah getcha... jus' that Ah've got shit handwritin', AN' Ah'm kinda shit with words..." she chuckled sheepishly to show taht she wasn't trying to feel sorry for herself. It was simply a truth. Isikiro was not very good at words or writing... not like a certain Green-Eyed Firebender anyways. "but okie... got it..." she mentally noted to either take handwriting courses (maybe Shi-Hao would teach her?) or hire a secretary. Maybe both, if her business ever took off. The idea of owning a mine was one thing, but she wanted to start a construction business to be exact. Seeing how poorly built the mines had been (since it had been that which had killed her poor father, and then crippled her mother).
"Maybe Ah kin take writin' classes... 'r speakin' classes." she suggested. Not one to just give up if she couldn't do something, Isikiro would try to find another way, unless it was just a bit too much to take in or something. This rate was much better for the young coal miner though, and so she was able to keep up... and it made her happy, and daresay, a bit excited. Perhaps there was hope for poor Kyla after all...

| Though she had been smiling, the last thing that her friend mentioned completely wiped the happy expression off of Shi-Hao's face. Snapping her head to the side, to look at the other girl, she suddenly looked a bit intense. "Never," she began, "...And I mean never ever... take voice lessons, Isi. I mean it."
Her voice softening and her brows knitting together, Shi-Hao continued: "Never apologize for your accent, or your background, no matter what - no matter how high you climb in society... I've seen too many people destroy themselves and just become... another of the crowd." It actually sounded as if the very idea was tearing the young heiress apart, despite her being born into this world, herself, and hiding part of herself away from that world.

| Isikiro's eyes widened with a bit of surprise at how... well, vehement Shi-Hao had gotten. She was about to open her mouth and explain that that had not been what she meant, but Shi spoke up again, humbling Isi again. Then again, the sky being blue could possibly make Isikiro feel humble, so maybe it didn't say much?
"N'no..." she said quickly, "Ah... Ah didn' mean 'bout mah accent... Ah meant... lahk..." she twirled her hands around each other as if trying to think of how to say it, "Lahk... speakin' in public... sayin' th'raht things... THAT kinda speakin' lessons... shit; Ah can't jus waste mah tahm tryin' t'talk lahk sumun' else 'r nuthin'... Ah couldn' lose mah accent ev'nif Ah wanted to..." Lowering her voice, she contuinued, "y'know wut Ah mean tho?" she asked humbly, "Ah dun wanna change how Ah soun... Ah just wanna learn howda say th'raht things so Ah don' c'moff as'n idiot... kinda lahk Ah jus' did now..." she lowered her head. Yeah, she felt kind of stupid for giving Shi-Hao the wrong idea. She wasn't exactly *proud* of her accent just yet (having not yet met a certain man of her dreams), but she wasn't necessarily ashamed of it. It was just... there. Part of her... Hopefully she had made herself clear this time though.

| Shi-Hao was thankful that she had been mistaken, because if she caught Isi even starting to turn into a little clone of the people she was forced to associate with, the heiress would stage an intervention - so help her. Reaching out, she took the other girl's hand, giving it a squeeze. "I apologize," She told her softly, "I misunderstood... You could try to take lessons for that, but the best way - I've found - really is just practice."
Looking down at the files remaining on the desk, she offered, "Would you like to continue, or should we take a break? I know that this is a lot to take in, all at once. If you need a few minutes, I could get something for us to drink?" Not that Shi-Hao had to physically go get something, but Isi might want a moment to herself, to decompress.

| If Isi had known that that was what Shi-Hao was thinking, she probably would have been equally appalled. It wasn't like she suddenly magically liked rich people or anything; she just made special exceptions and no longer hated all of them, or something fancy like that. "Well..." she admitted, "Ah dun' wanna 'practice' with sumthin' this'm 'portant." she stated rather boldly, "Ah can't let me mother have anithin' but th'best..." This much was clear, and (not like Shi-Hao would object) Isi was not going to back down from that stance. She was flexible when she was learning or dealing with one of the few people she loved or cared about... but was otherwise stubborn enough to make a mule blush.
"mmm..." she mused, "a drink 'r sumthin' maht be good raht 'round now..." she admitted, mostly just thinking about a glass of water or something simple. It was quite a bit for the young coal miner to take in all at once, and so little pieces at a time would be best for her... especially given how uncharismatic she was.
