| There were three reasons Katara hated her bending, all of which involving that it was painful in some way or another. Maybe that was only one reason, but it was one reason too many. She had wandered out of town attempting to try and control her vicious bending and once again had failed miserably. Now, injured and possibly with a broken arm, she was mumbling rather vulgar and unpleasant things to herself as she tried to limp back into town in hopes of finding someone that could help her.
Healers were the only people Katara felt she could trust with ease. others took more time to warm up to, and even then, perhaps she was overthinking it. not all healers were like Lady Zurok. Still... she managed to get her things together, like her bag that contained a few possessions and a change of clothes, and her cane. Limping back towards the city, she hoped to skirt around the outskirts without getting too surrounded by people. crowds were not her thing. While she was blind, she could still hear very clearly the sounds and noises around her.

| The city of Shu Jing would be new to her, and that was why Jurishe wanted to see it. The road had been soft traveling, thus far, and for that, she was thankful; she didn't have much, but that didn't mean that she could survive having it taken from her.
It was a few miles from the city that she first caught a feeling that things were going to change. Her chosen path had lead her through the woods, rather than down the road, and had brought her to quite a strange sight: burnt trees and charred grass out in the middle of what was apparently nowhere. Skirting around the edges of the damage, she inspected it carefully.
When nothing of note appeared, nothing changed, she continued on, dismissing the oddity for now, resolving to ask about it, once she got to the city. Emerging from the underbrush, just on the outskirts of Shu Jing, she caught sight of someone... limping? "Are you alright?" The sudden concern was clear in her voice.

| Freezing almost mid-step, Katara paused and turned her head instinctively towards the sound of the voice. She did not see anything different, being blind and everything, but she gave whoever was calling out to her a good view of her scarred and damaged face.
"who me?" she asked ,"nah... I'm fine." she was totally lying, and she knew it. She didn't even try to make it sound believable. She was just hesitant to ever ask for help, even when she needed it. A few moments later, her legs buckled, and she slumped to her knees. "who the hell am I shitting? aye... you know of any healers around here by chance?" Katara had no idea who this was, but the tone of sincerity had had her lower her guard a little bit. That, and her injuries might have helped keep it a bit lower. it was difficult to defend herself when she was so injured like that.

| She had already been moving toward her, but once the woman fell to the ground, Jurishe rushed the last few feet, "Careful!" Kneeling down beside the injured woman, she's already trying to assess her injuries, vaguely hearing the request for a healer. "I'm a healer," Her answer was quick, "What happened?"
Though already reaching out, her fingers paused at the sight of burnt skin. Eyes widening at her current grasp of the damage, Jurishe quickly removed her pack, going for her medical supplies. "Can you take your shirt off?" She asked, already rooting through her pack, "I can help you, if it hurts too much." Her voice was unusually clipped, betraying her stress.

| Luckily for Katara, her burns were minor--most of her injuries were bruises or cuts. still... the skin was red and sensitive, which said something, especially given that her skin was so dark.
"blew myself up." she shrugged, "nothing too bad." deciding to take this girl;s word on it, Katara sat down in anticipation of being healed. When asked to remove her shirt, she actually did so without even asking why. Doing so revealed a few more bruises, cuts, and burns, a few of which even went under her bra, and at least one of which looked rather nasty. Katara kept her bra on simply because she had not said to take it off. it would not likely have bothered her.
She was short, probably standing only around 5 feet, and maybe a couple inches when fully standing. similarly, she was also skinny, which showed as she bared her arms and stomach (though she kept her gloves on). she was not malnourished, but she could probably stand to stack on a few pounds. Either way, she remained sitting, leaning back slightly on her arms, waiting to see what this 'healer' would do for her.

| Looking her over, Jurishe pulls a small container and gauze from her pack. "It's not too bad... mostly superficial damage," She offers, unscrewing the lid of the jar, "I'm Jurishe. You?" Then, before the answer, "This could sting."
Dipping her fingers into the jar, which appears to be an ointment or jell of some kind, Jurishe holds the girl's arm up with her free hand, starting to apply it gently. Still a little flustered, trying to hide it, she tries to recall her lessons for burn treatment - something she hadn't actually practiced healing before.

| "...K-Katara..." she stammered, usually hesitant to giver her first name so early. Often she would give her middle name as if it were her first name, and would just get called Zalgius until she got to know a person a little bit better. This time... well, maybe it was because she was hurting.
she also tried ignoring the pain in the larger (but still only 1st-degree) burn that was half concealed by her bra. the damage was apparent though. "Achi!" she barked. Damn, she was right, because that sure did sting. She assumed that this Jurishe girl knew what she was doing, because Katara didn't know the first thing about healing or whatnot. the more someone looked at Katara's body, the more they could find wrong with its current state. she was dirty (but not quite enough to be smelly), and didn't exactly look to be in good walking condition, to name but two things about her. Either way, she was coping with these problems as they arose, and not a moment sooner or later.

| "Nice to meet you, Katara," Jurishe smiles, her eyes moving to the largest of the burns even as she's still working on the first. Biting her lip at the extent of the damage, she ventures, almost to herself in a mutter, "I'm going to have to clean around the worst of it before I can do anything..."
With a practiced flourish of a hand, she pulls water from the environment, draining the plants of water; it's still far less than she would have gotten back in the snow. Carefully guiding the meager amount to Katara's singed flesh, she drags it across the frayed edges, washing away the dirt and some of the flaking dead skin. After the ointment, it probably wouldn't seem to hurt as much.
"How do you feel?" She asks, now, trying to take Katara's mind away from the treatment.

| "nice meeting you too, I guess." she shrugged, though instantly regretted that due to the pain of movement. "a bit of an unorthodox meeting... but a nice one nonetheless, I s'pose."
The funny part about that statement was that Katara said it with a full straight face. her tone might have indicated some sense of humor, but also gave way a bit of perhaps the style of humor the young firebender procured.
as she dragged the water across Katara's damaged flesh, she felt inclined to remove her bra as well. it revealed a few more scars, particularly the rest of that really big one on her left side just under her breast, but otherwise, her expression had not changed and hoped that the waterbender's wouldn't either, unless it was regarding the cut.
Katara's breathing was tense from the stinging, but she otherwise seemed rather calm. "I... it does feel a bit better... but there's a long way to go." she mumbled, for while a couple burns were being treated, she had several more injuries on her person at this time.

| While certainly noticing the scars, as well as becoming curious, Jurishe tried to focus on the healing, first and foremost - old, previously healed wounds didn't need her attention, after all. Moving her hand to guide the water on to another burn on a particularly dirty part of Katara's skin, she tries to keep her talking without coming across as obnoxious. "Do you live here in Shu Jing? I've never been here," Her small-talk may not be entirely interesting, but that might be excused by her concentration being elsewhere.
Her other hand continues to move lightly across the next burn, coating it with the cream; now that it's expected, it shouldn't be as bad as the first time. The process is also going a bit faster, now that Jurishe is no longer so tentative about touching the wounds at all.

| Katara was not necessarily dishonest, but she had to be asked very precise questions to get certain information out of her. "Nah... I was just visiting. it's a pretty place though..." she replied in response to her question whether or not she was form around here. "and you? are you from the North or South? somewhere else perhaps?" Obviously this woman was a waterbender since she was healing Katara and all that, so that didn't even need to be asked. She might have been blind, but she was not always that way, and so she was able to honestly say that her recollections of Shu Jing were that it was a beautiful place. She had been very young though.
even if she was anticipating it now, the ointment still caused Katara to sharply intake breath, as it still stung. the air did feel somewhat nice against her exposed skin though--at least the parts that weren't injured. she slowly let out her breath, trying to ease herself up a bit to keep from getting so tense.

| "Southern Tribe," The answer was accompanied by a nearly-audible smile, "I've only been traveling for a little while now."
Finally finished coating the worst of the burns, Jurishe pulls more water from the surrounding flora, pulling it to Katara's skin once again. This time, rather than just cleaning, the water skims over the worst of the burns, lessening the pain, helping the redness to fade. The ointment that had been applied is absorbed into the water and then the charred skin, expediting the healing process, it seems.
Her gaze was drawn, finally, from the burns on Katara's body to her face; her eyes draw her attention most of all. "Does anything else hurt?" Jurishe's voice was noticeably calmer, now that most of the damage had been assessed and dealt with.

| "ah. travelling's pretty nice, depending on where you go." she shrugged. she managed to relax, her sharp intakes of breath becoming scarcer. She seemed to have no qualms about being bare from the waist up (besides her gloves). Her breathing was now very slow and very deep, as she was calming down.
Katara's eyes were fascinating. if one looked close enough there was a faint greyish circle in the center that her been her iris. her pupils were similarly white, absorbing no light at all, leaving Katara's world a dark one. "a bit of my legs hurt," she indicated as she kicked off her boots, stretching her bare toes. "but it's nothing to worry about really." this sounded like the same kind of lie she had told upon Juri first asking her if she was hurt at all, however.

| Shifting her position slightly, Jurishe moved her attention from the burns to Katara's leg, remembering her limp from before. Reaching for the limb in question, she carefully moves it straight, waiting for any kind of protest or hissing of pain; hopefully the reaction would give her a hint as to what was wrong - a break or sprain... or nothing but a little soreness.
If she were honest, all-in-all, she thought that this was going particularly well. It was her first solo-healing and she hadn't botched it, nor had the patient cursed her very existence. It wasn't the middle of a battlefield and the sun was still shining - knock on wood. Plus, Katara was apparently very receptive of the healing methods that she was employing.

| Katara grunted slowly as Juri moved her leg, but it seemed to just be soreness luckily, as opposed to a sprain or a crack of any kind. her left leg seems to not have the same limp her right one does, but doesn't look much better even with her pants still on.
Not being used to healing, it was a pleasant change from what she was used to, which was just toughing it out. She remained quiet and relatively calm. While young, with said youth being visible in her demeanor, there was also something of an 'aura' of wisdom around her face--as if she was someone experienced iin certain fields or something. It was not an aura proper, but a glance at her face could indicate to most people that she was certainly not an average teen.

| "It doesn't seem to be broken," Jurishe tells Katara the good news, her tone light and pleased, "Would you like help to... where ever you're headed? I could take a look again, if it still hurts?" Her offer was tentative, but still sincere; it was clear in her voice.
Reaching over, she retrieves the shirt that had been shed, placing it into Katara's hands, "Here, you can put this back on, too. Your burns already look much better." With that, she starts to shove her things back into her pack - including the unused gauze - getting ready to escort her patient, should she accept the offer.

| "...sure." she shrugged. "I got a room on the outside of town." Away from the crowds, just as Katara liked it. While she may not have looked it, Katara actually did have a good amount of money, although getting it was difficult for her. the house that it was in was the home of her family, which she also had the keys to. they had been well off, but the traumatic e4vents that had happened there in her childhood (involving the deaths of her parents and siblings), had made Katara avoid the place whenever possible.
Katara put her clothes and shoes back on, and began walking towards where her room was. Upon arriving, Katara plopped down into a chair. there was a washroom off to one side, and a bed as well as a table and a couple of chairs. It was small and homely, but was really all Katara needed.
"Thanks for... uh, helping me back there." she nodded, both referring to her escorting Katara, and for the healing work she had already done.

| "I couldn't just let you limp back here, injured and untreated," Jurishe shakes her head slightly at the thought of it, looking around the room. Shedding her pack, she lay it carefully against the wall before rolling her shoulder to loosen it. "You said that you didn't live here... Are you traveling too? By yourself?" While her question could be taken offensively, her tone is purely curious, rather than belittling or accusatory.
Though she doesn't so much as remove her shoes, she does seem to be more comfortable just from taking the weight of her supplies off her shoulders. Jurishe lets her hand drift up her right thigh, brushing against the ties of her belt, taking hold of them as if to assure herself that it was still there at her waist, where it belonged; an absent habit.

| Katara, however, did kick off her shoes again, shuffling her bare feet against the carpet. "I am," she replied regarding her question of if she was travelling, "and aye... by myself. I don't have anyone else to travel with." This was said rather nonchalantly as if it did not bother her. in truth, Katara did like being alone, but even the most reclusive people did need some sort of social interaction once in a while.
Katara idly played with some of her messy curls. "so... was there more of me you wanted to look at?" she asked, referring to such in terms of places that might need more attention, such as the rest of her back, or her legs or whatever else. exposing herself did not seem like anyth8ing to make a commotion out of. they were both women and it was strictly business anyways.

| Jurishe nods, before she remembers Katara's unseeing eyes. "Oh - yes, I should probably check to make sure that your skin is mending properly... and see about your legs, too." Moving back to her bag, she begins to remove the same materials as before. She pauses, for a moment, blowing a quick breath of hair up at her bangs, to get the loose hair out of her eyes, before standing.
"Here..." She sounds contemplative, moving to Katara's side, "You should be able to keep your pants on, if I can just roll the legs up a bit?" Her statement ends in a question, asking for permission. It wasn't a habit of hers, to give orders; she didn't even like to begin treatments without permission, unless the situation was dire, or the injured patient could not speak for themselves, at the time. As her current case was neither of those, she waited, watching the other teen before her.

| "alrighty." assuming that she would need her shirt off for Jurishe to see her wounds there, she took it and her bra off once again, remaining seated otherwise. "hey... whatever's easiest for you. you're the healer and the one who knows what she's doing." it was something of a compliment, but also because Katara didn't know the first thing about healing, so she was sort of going out on a limb here. She wasn't really important enough to be killed off, and so unless Jurishe was a closet sadist... Katara felt in no danger.
"alrighty." she shrugged, "although what of the wounds above the knees?" it wasn't like she was going commando or anything underneath. she had a pair of shorts on or whatnot. In truth, apart from the brief stinging, Katara seemed to enjoy the healing. her muscles could stand to be a bit loosened, but her skin was looking better already.

| A little surprised at how readily Katara offered to strip down for treatment, Jurishe nods again, taking a moment to remember to speak rather than just gesture, "It would be easier... if you're comfortable with it." The last thing that she wanted to do was make anyone - let alone someone injured - feel awkward in her presence, as a healer.
She was anything but embarrassed, at the offer to have clothing removed to give her easier access to the burns and other wounds; after all, it was nothing that she hadn't seen before. Had Katara been a man... slightly different story. A man would be healed nonetheless, but there would have been more muttering, blushing, fumbling, and eyes averted, all around.

| Being blind and not really one to care about modesty to begin with (despite dressing quite modestly anyways), Katara saw that disrobing was much more practical at this point. She shrugged. "it doesn't bother me." she indicated as she removed her pants. there were a few more injuries on her legs and thighs, but nothing terribly severe--just enough to need some kind of attention at least.
Katara's insecurity was mostly in the appearance of her face. few people saw her bare body, and so they didn't really comment much on it, as pretty or ugly or whatever else it might have been. her face though, was visible for anyone to see, and so it got more commentary.
Katara sat back down, waiting to see what Jurishe would do next.

| Inspecting the newly revealed injuries, Jurishe chews on her lower lip, beginning to contemplate the best method for dealing with this new set of bruises and cuts. The bruises were beyond her skills to help much, aside from lessening the pain with an herbal draught - which she had already planned to administer before she left Katara alone. The cuts would need to be cleaned, to avoid infections, and, because of their locations, bandaged; she planned on bandaging the burns, as well, after another round of slathering them with the ointment she carried.
Plan in mind, she nodded - mostly to herself - before speaking, "I'll need to clean the cuts a bit, but then I can bandage you up and you should be fine."
Searching the small room, she saw that the door to the washroom was slightly open; a basin of water in place for washing. Reaching out, she called a small amount to her aide, unscrewing another, different jar of medicine at the same time. Rather than apply this new medicine by hand, she sprinkled some of the herbs into the floating water, mixing them together. "This time, it shouldn't hurt," Jurishe offers before continuing. The herb-infused water moves quickly along her skin, dipping into cuts and the areas around them, quickly prepping them for recovery.
Each time the water moved on to a new spot, Jurishe was there with a clean cloth, dabbing the wetness away, gauze in the other hand to begin the wrapping.

| "alright then," Katara nodded. "just tell me what I need to do." She was putting an almost dangerous amount of trust in this girl, at least by Katara's own standards. Either way, she stuck with it, and wasn't about to change her plans or her mind. Whatever came... would come.
"ah..." she chuckled lightly. "aye, that'd be nice." she did not mean this sarcastically either. just that no one liked pain, not even stinging, and so Katara appreciated the lack of it as well. Katara was not dirty enough to smell awful, but she could definitely use a bath. she closed her eyes gently, also revealing that those scars over her eyes also crossed her eyelids. She was for the moment, at peace.
