Youta Zhu

Youta was back in the Earth Kingdom again. It had become his home away from home and it seemed that he had been spending more time in the Earth Kingdom than anywhere else. He didn't really have a home to go to that he himself owned so Youta was often found staying in an inn or just roughing it out on a road. He was in a small village now called Makapu and the people seemed nice enough. It was weird how they could be pleased with just staying in a tiny village and living out their pitiful existences for years on end until they died. Youta was destined for something bigger, well he would have been if he believed in such a thing as destiny. Youta was going to achieve bigger and he was going to become a force to be reckoned with.

Youta had to stop by a small lake before he got to the village to clean his blades. It had been a about a day since the last time he did it and an encounter with bandits had left his blades dirtied with blood and earth. He should probably have a blacksmith look at his Dao Swords. They didn't feel as swift and as powerful as they had when he had first gotten them. It was probably due to them having been in battle so often which caused them to dull. He'd fix it soon.

Now that he was in the village he walked into the marketplace and looked around. The bandits had some good money on them and some goods he could probably sell so he was likely to be a little less stingy with his money this time. He found an outside grill type restaurant and sat down on one of the stools that littered the area around the grills. It was a sunny day today so Youta didn't feel like ordering any alcoholic drinks so he ended up just ordering a glass of water.

Elegys

“Would you like anything else, sir?”

The monk glanced up as he heard the waiter speak. They made eye contact for several seconds before Elegys shook his head in a slight motion. ”Just water.”

The waiter sighed and shook his own head before walking away. The nomad had been sitting outside the restaurant all day now, and had only been drinking water. He had considered asking him to leave, but his larger physique had quickly dissuaded him. Just as he walked away another man entered, taking a seat near to the grills. He walked over to take his drink order, before once again turning away in disgust at the second order of simple water.

Elegys was sitting at a table with a parchment file open, reading through it slowly. He had been studying the contents for several hours now, waiting for the man that it mentioned within. He had heard a rumour that the man was approaching the town, and had decided to wait for him. When a likely looking man walked in, the Nomad closed the file.

He placed it in the small bag that was slung over his shoulder which contained several scrolls and pieces of parchment. He rose to his feet and manoeuvred around the table, headed towards the red-haired male. He looked to the side as the waiter was returning and waved his hand at him, motioning for him to move away. The waiter sighed and walked away, shaking his head again.

”Is this seat taken?” Elegys asked, taking the seat opposite Youta before he had a chance to reply. He looked at the younger man and steepled his fingers, slowly taking in the man’s expression. ”I’ve heard a lot about you, Youta. I’m here to offer you an… Opportunity. Needless to say the reward will be high, but the risk will be equally so. Would you like to listen to my proposal?”

Youta Zhu

Youta let out an audible sigh as the airbender took a seat next to him. He had asked Youta if the seat was taken but had not given him the chance to tell him an answer. These airbenders were getting more pushy each day with their philosophy spreading or whatever the hell this man was doing. He was probably going to tell him about how he should change his ways and should try to be more like the Air Nomads. Maybe this time they'd tell him to start being a vegetarian again. Youta had tried airbender food once and it was digusting, Youta wasn't even sure it could be classed as food. It was just roots and plants and other weird things. Youta just wanted to eat some nice, healthy, meaty and edible Earth Kingdom food but he doubted his new friend would let him do so.

Youta heard the man out after he sat down and scanned the area for a waiter. His water had yet to arrive and Youta could use a cup of water while he was going to be dealing with this man. Firstly the man said that he had heard a lot about Youta. Youta didn't know why this man knew a lot about him but it was probably a lie told to try and catch Youta's interest or attention. Youta wasn't going to be roped in so easily. "Oh you've heard of me?" He asked in a flat tone "How fascinating..."

Next, the man started talking about an opportunity for a great reward that would come at an equal risk. This was probably one of those 'if you meditate for hours on end you'll find peace' or some other crap like that. Youta was wondering where this was going though. This airbender seemed different to other airbenders he'd met before. Then again he usually couldn't tell the difference between airbenders. To Youta they were all bald, peace loving and boring.

"Go ahead then, blow my mind with your so called opportunity." he said with a tone of annoyance.

Elegys

A smirk crossed onto the monk’s face as Youta spoke, apparently bored and unbelieving in what Elegys could offer. His fingers tapped softly against each other as he looked at the man. ”You’ve been away from home for a long time, Mr Zhu; you’ve moved on a lot since you left the dojo. You’ve met a lot of interesting people, including the Avatar. What I would like to know is how deep your loyalties to her run…” he said mysteriously, smile still on his face. He reached into his bag and pulled out a small box that he placed upon the table before them.

”If you choose to accept my offer, nowhere will be safe again; the most likely outcome will result in the death of any who accompany me. If you do join me though, you will be rich beyond your wildest daydreams – not only in terms of money, but also in power. A new world order is approaching, Mr Zhu, and you can help lead it.”

At this point he opened the box slightly, just enough so that Youta could see in. The tell-tale shimmer of gold leaked out – there was enough in the box to live with comfort for several lifetimes, or even to live like a King for one. ”Consider this an advance payment – you’ll receive ten times this if we are successful. The task?” he closed the box and looked into Youta’s eyes.

”I will need your help to take down the Avatar. She will come for me when she realises my plan, but hopefully by then it will be too late for her. It would certainly be in your interests – and luck favours those who try, Mr Zhu,” he said, smirking again.

Youta Zhu

A small frown formed on Youta's face as the airbender started talking about Youta's past. This man had obviously had done his research very thoroughly, Youta hardly told anybody about his past and what he had done. Most people who knew him just knew that he was a fire bender born in the Fire Nation. His dojo was something that he had kept quiet for years. He didn't want a bounty on his head or some vengeful idiot to come chasing after him. He even knew about Youta's... meetings with Zulera. Either the airbender was a stealthy stalker or he had a wealth of resources at hand to find all this out about. Youta waited for the man to finish his question. "I have no loyalty to the Avatar as of now. I uhh... I 'entertain' her every now and again and she 'entertains' me." He responded.

Youta mentally prepared himself for some sort of weapon to come out of the airbenders bag. It was weird how in a couple of sentences, Youta had gone from thinking this airbender was a sentimental, peace-loving idiot to thinking that he was capable of pulling a weapon out on Youta. What came out of the bag however was not a blade to attack Youta but was instead a small box which the airbender placed on the table. It was a nice box but Youta cared about what was inside. Some sort of specialised weapon or maybe some information that Youta could find useful.

Youta's eyes moved from the box and back to the airbender as he started speaking again. This time the airbender was elaborating on what he had previously said to Youta. Youta listened intently to the proposition of the airbender. Youta should have flinched at the word death and the odds of it occuring but it was something he had heard many times. "This job will probably kill you" was something he had heard often in his travels. He had nearly died in some but he had survived all of them. What truly interested him was the airbender talking about the riches Youta would gain. He should have just started with that if he wanted Youta to help him out. A grin formed on Youta's face, money and power was what the man offered and it was an offer Youta was getting ready to take up.

As soon as the airbender had opened the box, he had gained Youta's allegiance. That was a lot of money and the man stated it was only an advance payment. The box on its own would probably be enough to have Youta live comfortably for the rest of his life but Youta aimed bigger than that. He grinned and looked back at the man. "Where do I sign?"

Elegys

Elegys grinned back and extended his hand to be shaken. ”I will contact you when the time is right, Youta; stay ready, it could be at any time. This money should keep you occupied until then, if you spent it correctly. Keep your training up – you’ll need to be at your best for when I come for you.”

The Airbender rose to his feet just as the waiter returned. The nomad nodded to him before walking onto the street. He turned back to Youta and nodded at him before continuing to leave. Another one had been recruited – another person who agreed with his values and goal. Suddenly his plan was forming together, and his allies were powerful. Together, maybe they had a chance at defeating the Avatar.
