Kyorin	Kyorin would have much rather done this mission himself, as he was better alone. But, Meili the Earth Queen had told him to bring the new guy, Abasi, along. It would be his first mission, and would probably have a lot of traveling to do. Kyorin liked to think that she wanted someone else to accompany him so Kyorin didn't die, like she was looking out for him. Although his logical sences said no, he still liked to think that she appreciated his hard work. He had snuck into the barracks of the Dai Li, in an undisclosed location. It took him a while to find Abasi's room, but once he did, he entered without a sound. The doors were not oiled, as to make noise and alert anybody that someone was there. But Kyorin, unlike many Dai Li agents, found a way to avoid it. If you could metalbend(which he could do a little of), you could lift the door so the hinges didn't grind together. He stood standing in front of the sleeping Abasi. Kyorin wondered if he was trained to wake if the sixth sense told him someone was near. Probably not. Kyorin tossed the luggage bag that was prepared for the long job ahead on top of Abasi's chest. It was sort of heavy, and Kyorin chuckled at himself when he did it.

Abasi Khuchtei	The bag landed on Abasi's chest with a muffled thump. It was enough to stir him from his sleep, but it didn't do much else. The traces of light from the waxing moon flooded his pupils as his eyes opened. He waited for his vision to focus before he spoke. "It's the middle of the night you know." he said, pushing the bag on to the bed so that he could sit up. He instantly regretted his words when he realized who had woken him. Standing there, was Kyorin Acer. The Snake. Personal bodyguard to the Earth Queen herself. Why was he here, and why did it involve Abasi? He bowed his head, "My apologies, sir. What is it that you require of me?"

Kyorin	The Snake reclined his head and looked at the ceiling. He then mumbled something about people calling him sir. He looked back down, and replied to his question with another question. "Abasi Khuchtei, you haven't had your first real mission as a member of the Dai Li, correct?"

Abasi Khuchtei	"That is correct." he replied, standing to his feet. It seemed that the Dai Li weren't used to having a member of his stature. After all, his bed was too short and he often had to duck through door frames. "I take it you're here to assign me my first mission then?" he inquired. Why the bag, though? Was he going somewhere?

Kyorin	"Er, kind of. Yes, you're first mission is upon you. But I'm traveling with you. This is kind of like an assessment, if you will. Your first time of using those skills that you were taught other than just bending. Now come on, it's time we leave. I'll tell you everything else on the way." Kyorin finished then turned to the door, and lifted it off it's hinges every so quietly and swung it out, then walked out of the room and down the hall, not even waiting for Abasi.

Abasi Khuchtei	Abasi folded his arms behind his back before following the higher ranked officer out of the room. He made sure to close the door as gently as possible lest he wake the other Dai Li. So far, Kyorin was exactly how he'd imagined him to be: aloof. It was probably his way of keeping himself from getting too close to the other agents. This wasn't a profession where one made many friends, after all.

Kyorin	The Snake wondered what Abasi was feeling. Excitement? Dissapointment that he didn't get his first mission alone? He had a feeling that he would figure out soon enough. After exiting the building, they were greeted by two Lizard Hounds. Kyorin hopped into his saddle quite easily, the Hound seeming to be familiar with Kyorin. "Do you know how to ride a Lizard Hound, Abasi?"

Abasi Khuchtei	Abasi ran his hand along the smooth hide of the Eel Hound's rear leg. "I've ridden them once or twice before so I have a pretty good idea." He erected a small earth pillar under his feet to boost him onto the saddle. It wasn't really necessary given his height, but he enjoyed taking advantage of his bending as often as he could. He shifted around in the saddle until he was comfortable before grabbing the reins. "So what exactly does this mission entail?" he looked over to Kyorin.

Kyorin	Kyorin shifted in the saddle until he was comfortable, then started down the road. "We are tracking down a rogue Dai Li agent. He was one of our best, and has valuable information." He called out behind him. "We are tasked with finding him, and arresting him. But if we need to, we are authorized to kill him. His name is Miguel Ulik."

Abasi Khuchtei	Miguel Ulik.... Abasi ran the name through his memory a few times. He couldn't recall anyone with that name. He supposed that was expected of a Dai Li agent; after all, it wouldn't be very secretive if everyone knew your name now would it? Abasi gave the reins a quick whip to set the Hound in motion. "What made him go rogue? Do we know?" he inquired. "What about his last known location?" As the two agents approached the massive palace doors, Abasi thrust his palm forward to get them to swing open.

Kyorin	Kyorin slowed his pace a little so Abasi could come level with him to talk easier. "We don't particularly know for sure what made him go rogue, All we know is that he was hostile towards Earth Kingdom soldiers and then ran off. This happened in Gaoling, which is where we are headed." he said all of this while keeping a level head, staring straight. When he saw that Abasi opened the doors, he looked over at him. "Uh, you do know that there are soldiers there to open it themselves, right? You don't need to do that."

Abasi Khuchtei	"Gaoling, huh?" The name caused unpleasant memories to surface, but he forced them back down as quick as they came. He hadn't been back to Gaoling since that day, not only due to fear of him having an emotional relapse, but because it offered him nothing. He had graduated past that point in his life, and he saw no need to go back. This was work, however, so he'd have to put his personal convictions aside for this one. There was a job that needed to be done, and nothing was going to stop him from completing it. "Why not do it yourself if you're capable?" he responded.

Kyorin	"To be honest, this job is beneath my rank. Alas, the Queen assigned it to me, and told me to bring you along to assess your capabilities out on the field." He would have told him about the Queen having high hopes for him, but Kyorin didn't want to stroke any ego's here. "I read your file, you used to live in Gaoling, yes?" Kyorin asked. He knew about the tramatic experience that Abasi went through, and Kyorin had a very identical experience when he was younger. He wondered if Abasi was going to be able to deal with going back to the place of his origin.

Abasi Khuchtei	"This shouldn't be too difficult than, should it?" he asked. Although he was confident in their skills, Abasi wouldn't go as far as to underestimate their target. He was good enough to make it into the Dai Li, so that alone meant that he shouldn't be taken lightly. Being highly confident in his own abilities was a different story. "I'm sure I won't fail to impress." With his eel hound now maintaining a steady pace, he reached into his bag to fetch a cube-shaped object made of metal. Its dimensions were four-by-four, and several stickers were fixed on each of the smaller blocks to make what resembled a Rubik's Cube. He started to fiddle with the little contraption, hands moving at a blur as they spoke. "Yes I'm from Gaoling originally. Most of my early childhood was spent there." Normally he'd be reluctant to reveal even that little of information, but Abasi was sure Kyorin had already read his file.

Kyorin	Kyorin looked over at the cube Abasi held in his hands. Curious, but he would be better watching the city streets, watching for potential dangers. Not fiddling on a toy. But, he wouldn't voice it. He was to observe how he was, not correct him or teach him. He looked on forward, keeping silent, but acknowledging Abasi's reply of living in Gaoling. Eventually they reached the outer wall of the city. They weren't going through the train on Eel Hounds, and there wasn't any other way out, so it was up and over the wall for them. Kyorin wondered if Abasi would stop, wondering if they were going on through the streets. He himself, just directed the Hound up the wall without hesitation. He had done so many times before, and was accustomed to the 90 degree shift.

Abasi Khuchtei	Abasi made sure to shift his gaze to the road as the green quadrupeds walked forward. As they neared Ba Sing Se's outer wall, he readied to halt his Hound, but changed his mind when his superior directed the beast upward. He could tell that Kyorin had done this before. Abasi tucked the rectangular gadget away and took a firm grip on the leather reins, steadily pulling backward to compensate for the sudden change of direction. He struggled to keep himself mounted at first, but he eventually got the hang of it. "The man we've been assigned to capture---Miguel Ulik." he chimed, "Did you know him?"

Kyorin	Kyorin sighed. "Yes, I knew him. He was in the Dai Li before I was. He's about 34 years old, he has long dark hair, like most Dai Li agents. But he could have cut it or dyed it a different color. He's an excellent fighter, but not one of the sharpest talons on a Piranha Eagle." He replied shortly. He climbed to the top of the wall and just as gracefully, started his decent. The Guards up top seemed not startled at all with the Eel Hounds just crawling up and over like that.

Abasi Khuchtei	Abasi had a much easier time descending the wall than he did going up it. He'd learned how to properly dictate the Hound's actions, so this attempt was no different than moving on solid ground. Abasi made sure to establish eye contact with his superior here and there, feeling that it was the respectable thing to do when conversing. He waited until after Kyorin was finished with his brief description of their target before speaking: "Based on that, it would be best to exploit his lack of wit to capture him, correct?" It seemed like the best idea to him. After all, an all-out bending brawl was the last thing they'd want. Things need to be smooth, calculated, and fast. He felt that in this scenario, fighting should be reserved as a last resort if they could help it.

Kyorin	Kyorin thought for a moment. "Er, I think it best not to underestimate him. He could have friends or allies that are helping him. Good thinking for a first time though." Kyorin reached the bottom by now, and lept off the wall onto the rocky ground. "It would be best to just play by ear until further intel. Prepare for the Worst, and Hope for the best." Kyorin said with a turn of his head.

Abasi Khuchtei	A simple nod of the head succeeded Kyorin's advice. The road on which they landed wasn't as smooth as those found within the city. He could tell that there had been some effort to keep it maintained, but he figured those assigned to its upkeep had given up on it long ago. This road was the closest symbol of order amongst the arid wasteland that surrounded Ba Sing Se. It seemed that once one was outside the city, the need for proper maintenance was nonexistent. As the Hounds trekked forward, Abasi gazed upon the occasional animal carcass with an unflinching expression. He wondered how many people actually got to see this. Few, he figured. Albeit Ba Sing Se's massive walls were the mightiest aegis the world had ever seen, they weren't without their pitfalls. These cadavers were a potent example of how unforgiving and often-times cruel nature could be. How could they know of the world's true nature if they lived a sheltered existence their entire lives? It was humbling to be honest. Many people thought of themselves as creatures separate from nature, or above the animals that inhabited it, but this was a lie. Abasi knew that nature gave rise to all things he saw today, and it could always take those things back.

Kyorin	kyorin covered his mouth and with the top of his jacket whenever they passed by an animal carcass. The smell was one thing, but the worst part of it all was the half decomposed faces. They just looked so...wrong. It made him think of his family.... He made sure to keep his eyes on the road, he didn't want to see Their faces. "It will be a few days to get to Gaoling, so we're going to travel through the night. We'll sleep noon tomorrow. These Eel Hounds are trained to make noises if any danger is to come close, and to keep on a straight path. So you can sleep whenever you like."

Abasi Khuchtei	"That's convenient." he responded, reaching forward to stroke the hide of his hound as it walked. He wondered if this was his Eel Hound from this point onward, or if it belonged to the Dai Li in general. He could get used to having one of these things. "So how long have you been a member of the Dai Li?" he asked, attempting to spark conversation.

Kyorin	Kyorin looked over and saw Abasi patting his hounds neck, and wondered if he was getting attached to it. Some Dai Li do, some don't. Advantages in both. He watched the road once more, until Abasi spoke up again, asking of how long he had served as a servant of the Earth Queen. He smiled when he counted the short number of years. He had certainly gotten far for the time he had been in the force. "3 years." Kyorin told him over his shoulder, casually.

Abasi Khuchtei	Only three years? It was a little hard to believe, but he figured anything was possible. Plus, what reason would he have to lie? "You must be of considerable skill then. I imagine it would have taken longer to achieve your rank if you weren't." He could only imagine what kind of tasks Kyorin had been assigned . . . what caliber of missions he'd completed to advance him through the ranks so quickly. That's how he wanted to be. Abasi was a perfectionist at heart, so it was only natural for him to desire nothing but the best from himself. What better way to do that than to walk in the footsteps of the best? He kept a watchful eye on their surroundings. He'd heard the tales of many an unsuspecting traveler who fell prey to the creatures that prowled the wasteland. He knew they were out there. You won't make a victim out of me...

Kyorin	Kyorin smiled inward at himself when Abasi remarked that he had considerable skill. It was nice to be told he was good at something, when only five years ago he was probably the poorest bender in all the Earth Kingdom. "Trust me, it was difficult. Never had a day off." At this point, Kyorin let go of the reins and leaned back. "Just try to follow what I do in the next week or two and you'll be climbing those ranks as well." He wondered also if Abasi had any drive like Kyorin did. To stop just about all crime, even if that meant being on your day off and have to help someone running from a mob trying to mug him. He looked at Abasi in his saddle out of the corner of his eye. Maybe he did. Drive is something you need to climb this high up. Drive for power over others will only get you killed or locked up in prison, but moral drive. That's how he became the Queen's bodyguard. Then he remembered, another thing you need is skill. In Abasi's file, it stated he was a metal bender and a lava bender. Very impressive, but if he had to master both of those, they both may be lacking in skill, only being half-baked in both areas. "Abasi, when we stop for tomorrow for camp, I want to asses your battle skills. I need to know if I can trust you in a fight to have my back." Not that Kyorin, The Snake, needed someone to watch his back, but it would be nice to know Abasi had it nonetheless.
