Mishka Empty
PostSubject: Mishka   Mishka EmptySun Nov 09, 2014 7:10 pm

Name: Mishka
Gender: Male
Age: 28
Element: Air
Birthplace: Eastern Air Temple
Position: Nomad

Training

Airbending: Master (not officially)
Sky Surfing: Expert
Air Pressure (Kūkiatsu): Creator
Hand-to-Hand: Expert

Personality

He’s impudent and a bit abrasive. He can be dense, impatient, and inconsiderate, and isn’t very good at reading people’s emotions or boundaries. He can be disrespectful, especially to authority figures. It's because of his narcississm and self-centered nature that Mishka does get along with most people. Not that he really cares, he isn't very concerned with others' opinions of him.

He’s incredibly vain, and often worries about his appearance. Naturally because of his narcissistic tendencies, he's a flirt. There's nothing he enjoys more than a good time with the someone he finds attractive. Although he normally pursues women, he has more than once been involved with men as well.

His years of travel have led him to be a bit emotionally underdeveloped, not good at sharing his feelings or opening up. Life as a nomad has led to Mishka being more self-sufficient than most. He doesn’t want to admit to himself or anyone else that he relies on other people. When he’s unhappy, he gets very quiet. He can be unintentionally cruel, because he hates feeling vulnerable and sees the expression of negative emotions as a sign of weakness.

If one were to categorize Mishka into one of the four standard moral groups (Good, Evil, Anti-Hero, Neutral), he would best fit into the latter. He simply doesn't care about most moral and ethical disputes, and chooses not to get involved with them. His nomadic nature and disdain for highly structured environments ensures that he doesn't get involved with the affairs of different nations.

Abilities

Through years of rigorous training and intense study, Mishka has managed to master 35 out of the 36 tiers of airbending. This alone would have him classified as a master by most, but since he departed his home before the final tier was completed, he never earned the iconic tattoos of the air nation. Notwithstanding, his skill is on par with many 'official' masters of the airbending community.

Mishka has an innate understanding of air itself and the many phenomena created as a product of the atmosphere and because of this, he has created a myriad of unconventional techniques that take advantage of this knowledge. Perhaps his most notable invention is a technique he calls Kūkiatsu. Air pressure is the weight exerted on a person by air molecules. Although air molecules are invisible, they still have weight and take up space. Because there's a lot of "empty" space between air molecules, air can be compressed to fit in a smaller volume. Understanding this, Mishka has developed a unique style of airbending that allows him to produce a variety of effects simply by manipulating the atmospheric pressure around him on various scales.

He fancies a hybrid style of various striking and grappling martial arts that uses his Kūkiatsu as a trump card. He uses attacks that incorporates his nine striking limbs (fists, feet, elbows, knees, and head). Mishka often increases the pressure exerted by his limbs to drastically increase the strength of his attacks, achieving a sort of 'super-strength'. In addition to this, he has shown the ability to crush objects by increasing the barometric pressure acting upon them. He can decrease air pressure in a given area to say, make it more difficult for his opponents to breathe. This however, allows his opponents to move faster since their is less resistance from air molecules in the atmosphere. He often uses this himself to increase his speed when flying on his airboard. Mishka can create regions of high pressure to form walls or even barriers around himself to repel physical attacks. The full extent of these abilities have yet to be seen.

Appearance

With a chiseled face, a perfect tan, and a body seemingly sculpted from the highest caliber of marble, Mishka is what you could call a hunk. He has excessive pride in his physical appearance, and works constantly to maintain the level of beauty he deems necessary. He subjects his body to a grueling exercise regimen that keeps him in optimum physical condition. Working out isn't the only way he maintains his chiseled physique, however. Mishka has created a diet for himself that gives him the greatest amount of energy to function throughout the day.

He sports seas of blue for eyes, and has a neatly tapered goatee and long, flowing bleach blond hair. He dawns the traditional colors of the air kingdom, the lovely orange and yellow. He's added his own flare to it, however; changing his attire to be more comfortable and show off his muscular upper body. He also wears various charms and other pieces of jewelry that he's picked up during his travels. He wears a large beaded necklace and carries a bag full of his belongings during his travels. One thing carried in his bag is a medium-sized book which he uses to do sketches and draw during his spare time. His drawings include monuments, men and women that he's met over the years, or simple scenes of nature that he felt compelled to draw.

History

Mishka was born and raised in the Eastern Air Temple. Like all young nomads, she was born into airbending, instructed in the ways of the thirty-six techniques at a young age. However, Mishka found she better related and understood the actual mechanics of airbending, and thus was often seen amongst his peers as more of professor than anything. His innate understanding of airbending allowed him advance far faster than his fellow air nomads. His prowess in airbending and tendency to be rather rude to his peers made him fairly unpopular with most kids. Except for the girls of course, he never had problems dealing with them.

Although he enjoyed the lifestyle afforded to him by the Eastern Air Temple, Mishka found his desire to travel growing inside him the more the days went by. He needed to see the world, meet new people, try new foods. He knew how limited his perspective would be if he lived here his entire life. He made up his mind. Not even a week later, Mishka had packed his bags and set out to travel the world.

He made voyages to each of the major bending nations, indulging in the magnificent cultures that comprised them. He would stay in one town for a time, but never longer than a few months. He took particular interest in a Fire Nation city located somewhere north of Shu Jing. It was most known for its bending arena, which attracted some of the most renowned benders from around the globe. This was around the time that Mishka had created his new bending style, and he felt that it would be a good opportunity to put it to the test.

His first match was against a prominent earthbender who referred to himself in third person. The battle went well at first, and the two benders seemed evenly matched, but Mishka quickly gained the upper hand once he unveiled his newer form of bending. Every boulder thrown at him, every wall of rock erected in his opponent's defense crumbled in the wake of his Kūkiatsu reinforced blows. After his first victory, Mishka was given a fair amount of Yuan for his performance. The adulation he'd received from the crowds of eager fans did nothing but boost his ego. This, and the cash he was likely to bring in if he got better at this gig were enough incentive for Mishka to stay in town for a while.

With his bending prowess and competitive nature, Mishka eventually rose to the top level of the arena. He'd become cocky however, complacent. He was spending more time with his possees and groupees than doing actual training to face his opponents. This showed when it was time to face his first opponent in this new level of competition. She was a tiny girl, standing no more five-foot-two. Mishka knew that he was going to wipe the floor with her, and spent more time pleasing the crowd than actually working on winning the battle. The girl took advantage of this, and wiped the floor with him in under a minute. It was the most embarrassing moment of his entire life. He couldn't believe that he'd lost to a girl! The loss took a heavy toll on his ego, and was enough to convince him that he actually needed to train if he wanted to keep up his lifestyle.

Needless to say, Mishka went back to training. It was during this time that he reached a new level of proficiency in his hand-to-hand combat and the use of Kūkiatsu. With his increase in skill, Mishka found himself once again on the top. He bought himself a permanent settlement in the city for the times when he'd return during his travels. With a good sum of money accumulated after dozens of fights, Mishka hit the road again.

Mishka

"Oh come on, you're going to have to do better than that!" he jibed.

Mishka would be lying if he said he hadn't been here many times before. Ducking and dodging the enraged siblings of the girl with whom he attempted to flirt. They were never going to catch him. As an airbender, Mishka was inherently light on his feet. He weaved through the crowded streets with far more grace than his pursuers could hope to match. It all started a few hours earlier. Talk of the annual autumn festival was enough incentive for Mishka to make a voyage to the Fire Nation capital. He missed the last one, and he was already in the area, so he figured he'd pay the nation a visit. He always enjoyed the Fire Nation more than any of the other kingdoms mostly because the people were more care-free and outgoing. At least they were generally, he still ran into the occasional prude here and there.

To his pleasure, the airbender attracted a great deal of attention when he descended from the sky on his airboard like some sort of radical surfer-god. Many of the passerbys stopped to admire him, some even mustered the courage to approach him and ask for his autograph. It seemed that the fame he'd gathered from his days of professional bending was still alive and well. Maybe I should go back to doing that. . . . he thought. He missed it, honestly.

"Hello beautiful citizens of the Fire Nation!" he exclaimed, raising a hand in a wave as he addressed him. "I'm pleased to be apart of your festival. I hope you all have a night worthy of remembrance!"

A few kind words to get on the public's good side, and he was off to deal with his own devices. The cool air was rife with positive vibrations, and his ears buzzed with the sound of instruments being played and countless ongoing conversations. The first place on which Mishka set his sights was a small booth to his immediate left. The word booze was blazoned in large, bold letters at the top of the booth. Just what I need to get my night started. His lips stretched into a mischievous smirk as he slid over to the booth and commandeered one of the empty seats.

"Give me your largest bottle and a glass for me and this beautiful lady here." he gestured toward the woman sitting next to him. She sat there in silence, not even bothering to glance in his direction. She was a stunning specimen. A head of rosy red hair that fell just below her shoulders, soft facial features accentuated by a tiny mole over her upper lip. She wore a long, scarlet dress that tapered off on the outside of each of her thighs. The fabric hugged every inch of her curvaceous frame.

"Not interested," she said frankly, keeping her eyes on the little book in her hands.

"Playing hard to get, I see. No problem." Mishka exchanged the bottle of liquor for a few Yuan, placing it in the shop owner's hand when he placed it in front of him. He popped the cork on the bottle and filled the cups to the brim, sliding one over to the girl sitting next to him.

The woman sighed and turned to the man attempting to hit on her, "Look, I'm not into you. Get over it." She was about to say more, but decided to silence herself when three ogres of men walked over to them. A look of relief dawned on her face.

"This prick bothering you, Nala?" the largest of the men inquired of her, to which she nodded yes.

"So Nala is your name. . .fitting." Mishka continued, apparently unable to get a hint.

"Hey, asshole." the giant chimed again, "That's my little sister you're talking to."

"These douchebag is your brother? I'm deeply sorry for you, love. I can whisk you away from these three if you'd like."

"That's it!" the brother exlaimed, extending a massive hand to grab a handful of Mishka's collar.

Before he could even react, his assailant was whipping through the air. Mishka had grabbed his arm while standing up, executing a perfect hip toss that sent the man barreling into counter, whose feeble wood collapsed under his bulk. Oooh, that looked like it hurt. The man recovered quicker than he expected, standing to his feet with two fists full of flame.

"You're dead!" he shouted. As if on queue, the other two men summoned their fire as well.

Mishka glanced in Nala's direction and gave her a wink, "Well, gotta go!" Those were his final words before bolting in the opposite direction. As expected, the three men gave chance.

--Fast forward to the present moment--

Mishka could feel the heat on the back of his neck as fireballs flew overhead. These guys sure were persistent! He rounded a corner only to be met with a dead end. Mishka turned around to face the three siblings, who each bore their own malicious expression.

"Fellas, let's be civil about this." he attempted to reason with them, holding his hands up in a show of a complaisance. "Just walk away no one has to get hurt."

He wished things were that simple, but he knew that these brutes were well past negotiation. Each of the three men charged and fired a powerful torrent of fire toward him. Mishka went to work fast, manipulating the air in his proximity to create a vacuum around them just long enough for the flames to dissipate due to the lack of oxygen. Immediately afterward, the air came rushing back to fill the 'empty' space. He threw one fist toward the sky in an uppercut, jamming a torrent of high-pressure air into the face of one man with enough force to lift him off the ground. He followed up by executing a fluid roundhouse kick that generated a wave of air to slam the last two men into the side of the building to their left. One of them managed to crack his dome against the layered brick like an egg.

Mishka sucked his teeth while stuffing his hands into his pocket. "I thought they'd put up more of a fight." he said while kicking one of them in the side. "Oh well, someone will find them eventually." He stepped past the unconscious men and prepared to make his way back to the festival street.
