Xilingshi Nailah Zoraki Xnz

Full Name: Xilingshi Nailah Zoraki
Gender: Female
Age: 34
Element: Air
Birthplace: Caldera City, Fire Nation
Position: Leader of the Tekina-Kaze
Training:
Airbending: Master Level
Combustion-bending: Master Level (creator)
Martial Arts: Expert Level

Personality: (337)
Xilingshi is a hot, passionate woman who understands the important of cunning and discipline. She is a warrior through and through, and understands that life is only as valuable as people choose it to be. she firmly believes that giving one's life in defense of the things and people they love is one of the highest honors that a person can receive, although defending without having to lose one's life is even better, and so that is what she strives for. Xilingshi does not really think much of herself or her own well-being, but she is almost overbearingly selfless to her friends and those she loves. Conversely, she is fierce and relentless towards her enemies in combat.
Because of her heritage, she has a certain bond with the Fire Nation that she does not give up so easily, despite their crimes, both old and recent, against her people. Despite the protesting of some others, Xilingshi refuses to give up those quirks.
Xilingshi is a woman of few words, and is mercilessly blunt, also being honest to a fault. What she lacks in social skills, she makes up for with her charisma on the battlefield. She holds worthy enemies in high respect even on the battlefield, and has fought many duels in her life. She continues to study combat so that she can better lead her warriors to victory, for she understands the importance of life, even to the Air Nomads. Her motto regarding why she built something on a miniature informal "army" is the belief that it was better for a few to give up the pacifist ideals for their country so that the others could continue to live them. This is part of Xilingshi's moral code, which she claims is actually rather extensive. she does not bring it up a great deal, and she certainly does not try imposing it on others. She knows what is right for her, and does not feel the need to try and dictate what is right or wrong to others.

Abilities: (301)
Xilingshi is a disciplined and talented warrior who has seen many years of combat in her short life, and has developed and designed numerous combat moves with airbending and martial arts. She is somewhat adept with the staff as a weapon, since her glider folds into one. She is fast and strong, with dangerous reflexes and force behind her bending moves. She has developed numerous injury-inducing moves, some of which also cause death. the move that earned Xilingshi her tattoos though, was a compression-based move. she would compress a ball of air and throw it at her target. once it reached, she would release her grip on it, letting the air rapidly expand, giving it a combustion-style effect.
Years of discipline have made Xilingshi an expert at martial arts, and her tattoos indicate that she is a master at the arts of airbending. She also possesses a moral code of sorts when fighting and generally acts as a thorn in her enemies' sides, for she will usually just incapacitate her enemies instead of outright killing them, unless they are dangerous enough that they cannot be allowed to live.
Having started learning martial arts and airbending from an extremely early age, Xilingshi;'s devotion to her skills paid off, as she was one of the younger (but not the youngest) airbenders in the temple to receive her tattoos. Also of particular importance, is Xilingshi's incredible ability to lead armies against all odds. There was some luck involved, but the strategies that she used to defend the Western Air Temple against a massive Fire Nation siege would be remembered through history for Xi's heroism and skill through that battle. She is far from a flawless military leader, but she still has a respected amount of experience. This is a trend that continues even today.

Appearance: (270)
Height: 5'5"
Weight: 123
Eyes: Grey
Hair: Brown
Skin: Light
Xilingshi is a small, thin girl with somewhat wild brown hair that she usually keeps in a messy ponytail, especially when on the battlefield. When it's not done up, it usually hangs down behind her, about halfway down her back. she has silvery-grey eyes and often has warpaint on her cheeks. on her right cheek, there is a pair of massive gashes that she received in battle. they never fully healed, and look somewhat gruesome, even today, since they still sometimes bleed.
Xi's body is adorned with the tattoos of an airbending master, for she is one. mostly, the arrow lines on her feet, upper arms, and forehead are the most visible, since she usually keeps the rest of her body, even her hands, covered. She usually wears orange clothes consisting of a baggy shirt with a belt around her waist, and loose brown pants. she wears a pair of armored gloves on her hands that she very seldom ever takes off. There is a red symbol that serves as the buckle for Xilingshi's belt, and while intricate, it is unclear if it has an actual meaning or not.
Xi's face is usually set into a neutral expression or sometimes a frown. it is rare when she smiles, but it is ever so sweet when she does. To see such a surly-faced battle-hardened warrior crack a smile shows that she really does have a kind and gentle side underneath that exterior, since she does. some might call her cute even, though you would never hear it from her mouth. She is much too shy to admit it, true or otherwise.
See for yourself; make your own decision. (image)

Weaponry & Other Gear: Staff
Item Name: Xilingshi's Staff
Materials: Wood
Description: a standard-issue Air Nomad glider that Xilingshi has personalized a bit by putting her own designs on the material. it folds into a staff and she uses it as a weapon. it almost never leaves her sight.

History: (745)
Xilingshi was born in the Caldera City in the Fire Nation 34 years before present day, while her airbender parents were on the return trip to the Western Air Temple from down south. Because her parents never bothered to develop a relationship with her, she didn't bother to develop one with them, and she was soon dropped off raised my the monks and nuns of the temple. She was very respectful to their beliefs and lessons, but she admitted that she did not share the same beliefs of pacifism. Xilingshi was not an irrationally violent child at all either; she just had an affinity for fighting and combat.
She was also close childhood friends with Ryuu Takeshi. while the two had their differences and Ryuu's disagreement eventually led to him leaving the temple, they remained pretty close friends. she had been 4 and he had been 2 when they had met, and even as little children, the bond had already formed.
When Xilingshi presented the Air Council with a handful of new (and violent) airbending moves she had created, they were hesitant at first to grant her with her tattoos, but in the end they upheld the old Air Nomad Tradition and they were given to her shortly afterwards. After all, an airbending move was an airbending move, violent or not.

Xilingshi's time was spent mostly by herself, as after learning the basic building blocks of airbending, she took everything she learned and figured out new ways to put it to use. She was an innovator with her moveset, trying to figure out the most destructive ways to make her airbending work against potential opponents. Luckily, outside of an actual war-related situation, Xilingshi was as harmless as a baby. She only fought when there was something or someone to defend. It was perhaps her kind nature towards her fellow airbenders that counterbalanced her violent bending styles. whatever the case, Xilingshi made sure that her style was perfected before she presented herself to the Air Council, and she came out of that scene a successful woman.

The only real "problem" Xilingshi ever caused among the Air Nomads proper was that she managed to convince a handful of them t turn from the peaceful way of life and become warriors, but she claimed that she only did so in the name of self-defense. She had learned about the genocide against their people that had happened 180 years ago, and she did not want it to happen again--at least not without a bigger fight.
There was at least one time when Xilingshi got her wish of fighting; she and a few others managed to fend off a small group of soldiers attacking one of the Air Temples, and Xilingshi's violent techniques proved so superior that, while some of the airbenders were injured, none of them had tasted death during that skirmish.

Xilingshi gained notoriety during her famous Defense of the Western Air Temple against the Fire Nation forces during the War of Tipped Scales. There, she and her Tekina-Kaze warriors held off the threat of the Fire Nation, securing the safety of the Air nomads' most powerful stronghold. She was hailed as a hero, but did not let that get to her head, and remained humble, but vigilant--always ready to take something or someone on, and always ready to defend her people should war come to her.

This notoriety followed her, and many who disapproved of her actions confronted her. However, she was also a duelist, and one who fought with honor, and so she accepted the challanges, being lucky enough to come out on top most of the time.

In the present day, Xilingshi lives up to her Air Nomad name and travels the world, mostly jumping between the Air Temples to spread her words and skills. She spends her time training those interested in defending their temples in her Art Of War, but she respects the will of each and every Air Nomad she recruits, and she makes no effort to try and sway those who do not wish to turn to the side of war, which is still a respectable majority of the airbender population. With war and rumor of war lingering on their doorstep, however, Xilingshi is back on the move, marshalling and mobilizing various groups of airbenders to prepare to defend their temples, particularly the one in the south, which seem to be the one most in danger at the time.

Xilingshi watched them as they all slowly pulled back into the walls of their fortresses, and she turned around to look at the crowd of airbenders around her.

“I am almost certain that they are coming back,” she declared. "we should be ready."

“Send us more enemies then,” laughed a much older man. Xilingshi spun around, recognizing the voice immediately.

“Krash, you crazy bastard!” she squealed, as the two embraced each other, “why didn’t you tell me you came back here?”

“Heh,” Krash chuckled, “I haven’t heard your voice go that high in a long time.”

“Hush!” Xilingshi snapped, her cheeks turning red, “am I not allowed gratitude to see that you haven’t killed yourself yet?”

“I suppose that’s one way to put it.” Krash laughed, one of his hands undoing Xilingshi’s ponytail, letting her wavy brown hair cascade down her back.

“Dammit, Krash,” she snapped, “why do you always undo my hair?”

“It looks prettier that way.” Krash replied bluntly, “surely you can do that for an old man.”

“Well tell me then,” Xi nodded, her voice sounding much happier despite her not having actually cracked a real smile, “why didn’t you tell me you came back here? You can at least appease me by answering that one question, can’t you?”

“I just forgot to,” Krash laughed, “but now that I know that a sweet little airbender is back, I should turn over the temple to the mighty Lieutenant Xilingshi, I take it?”

“Don’t be ridiculous,” Xilingshi argued, “I move around far too much to be able to ever settle down as the leader of an Air Temple. Power or not, I should not get any authority by default. I should earn it the same way anyone else did, including you, Krash.”

“Then I guess the Eastern Air Temple is stuck with ol' Krash as its leader until I decide to blow myself up,” Krash fake-sighed, “That’s just how things roll in the business.”

“Damn it, Krash, you’re not going to blow yourself up!” Xilingshi snapped,

“I can’t guarantee that,” Krash warned, “I’m way too fire-happy.”

“Let’s not dwell on it then,” Xilingshi argued, looking flustered, “turn around and let your people know what your plan of action is.”

“My plan of action,” Krash grinned, “ah, right; the plan of action.”

Krash turned to his people and raised his voice as he spoke. “Citizens,” he boomed, loud enough that a few enemy stragglers on their way back to their fortresses stopped to listen, “my plan of action is this—we hold the Eastern Air Temple to the last man, woman, and child. If they want this temple, they can have it—after they pay so much for it, that they have gained absolutely nothing from it.”

The airbenders cheered as they migrated back to Jakarta. Even Xilingshi’s usual frown disappeared, and it almost looked like she was about to smirk.

“Hey,” Krash observed, “you’re almost smiling!”

“You’re right,” Xilingshi shrugged, “I guess I’m excited about what we’re trying to do here.”

“You should smile, Xi,” Krash told her, using a much more sincere tone, “I think you would look good with it. Besides, what reason do you have to be frowning all the time?”

“I wish I could say,” Xilingshi sighed, “but I don’t even know it myself. I feel like I’m lying—lying to the entire world about something.”

“Well,” Krash raised an eyebrow, “are you? What could you possibly lie about that would get the entire population of Air Nomads to believe it?”

Xilingshi just sighed and shook her head.

“This isn’t the Avatar thing, is it?” Krash remarked, “Because that Zelgius kid just isn’t up for it. She just has power. Power is not what makes an Avatar, Xilingshi. The Avatar’s authority comes from their responsibility and how they wield their powers. You’re the one fighting the wars. You’re the one that saved Zelgius’ life.”

“I know; I know, I never said it was that. Maybe it’s just something I am teaching. I have never said that everything I promote was directly taken from the spirits.”

“But are you saying anything against their teachings?”

“Not that I know of; I just… well, let’s just enjoy the moments we have together before the war, Krash. You know I could never disobey the spirits directly.”

“Just remember, Xi,” Krash reassured her, running his hand gently through her hair, “you said yourself that you’re not even sure what you’re worried about. It’s all in your head, I tell you. I obviously can’t force you too, but I’d like to see you smile before I die.”

“Don’t say that!” Xilingshi frowned, suddenly looking upset, “you know how much I hate when you talk about getting yourself blown up!”

“I’m just saying that death is not entirely out of the issue here.” Krash argued.

“Just don’t blow yourself up on me, alright?” Xilingshi pleaded, “Not until we have no other choice. I don’t want you to die here.”

“Regardless of where I die,” Krash pointed out, “I will die happy. I live my life enjoying every moment of it, and so if I’m killed in this battle, Xilingshi, then at least take a small bit of comfort in knowing that I died doing what I loved doing.”

Xilingshi was silent for a moment before she nodded. “Alright; I’ll remember that.”

“Let’s get off this battleground then,” Krash suggested, “we can rummage through the wreckage later. I’m exhausted.”

25 is too young an age for a Air Bending Master, try 40 - 50 (minimum). Also try to add more into your history, about how over the years you became a superior air bender, and the monks deemed you as a master.

Otherwise this is approved.

hm. I guess I kinda just saw a couple others like Fire Lord and Water Chief or something that were in their 20s, so I figured it'd be okay. My bad.

whatever the case, I made her a bit older, figuring that she became a master at that age because she worked at becoming such, and didn't do much else with her time.

and I added a bit more into her history. :3

I understand what you mean, (I am the Firelord, hence the username) my character is around his 20's but only because it was plausible (Zuko), the water tribe chiefs could be any age, however to become a Airbending master requires alot more training than the other elements.

I believe it, and that's basically why I upped the age a bit. granted, we didn't see too much airbending in the show, or how they practiced it, just that no 12-year-olds were masters except Aang.

but you made a fair enough argument. hopefully my profile is better now. ^^
