Personality: Luxos has always been a bit of an enigma in the quiet and humble Northern Water Tribe. While he has manners and has always been taught how to behave around other people, he is very impulsive. If an idea strikes him, it's likely that he will simply act without thinking the decision all the way through. His intention is usually good, but it isn't uncommon for him to find himself in a situation that could have been, and should have been avoided simply because he made a decision that sounded more interesting at the time.
Abilities: Luxos is a talented waterbender whose abilities quickly shape to handle different situations. While he is not the most amazing fighter, he is very talented at adapting quickly to other people's fighting styles and staying a step ahead of them. Additionally, he has trained for years with his prized sword, Amarok. The sword fits his fighting style and he is accustomed to fighting with it in both its linked and extended form. He prefers to use it linked simply because he has not mastered the weapon and prolonged use after being extended usually ends up with him making a mistake and tangling the blade.

Luxos has medium length dark brown hair and piercing blue eyes like most people from the Water Tribes. Both ears are pierced and he wears small, polar bear dogs's teeth in the holes. His traveling clothes include loose fitting white pants which are comfortable and easy to move in. Additionally, he wears a grey shirt that does not button and has a cloth to wrap around the waist to hold the shirt closed. Over this, he wears a light blue and white coat which can withstand cold temperatures fairly easily. Over his forearms, he wears cloth and leather forearm bracers which buckle securely around his arms. On the back of each hand is a Water Tribe crest. Finally, he wears a white scarf around his neck which was a present to him from his sister. His only real distinguishing feature is the four parallel scars across his chest from when he was attacked while hunting.
Perhaps the only thing that is truly special about Luxos' abilities is his gift for healing. It is rare for male waterbenders to be able to use their bending for healing and Luxos is very talented, able to heal a variety of injuries ranging from cuts to burns. If given enough time and concentration, more severe injuries can be treated such as broken bones.

Material: Spring Steel. This kind of steel is best known for its endurance, ability to maintain sharpness, and it's potential flexibility. The handle is made from finished cherry wood and is comfortable and easy to grip. The cable running through the middle of the blade is woven stainless steel.
Description:
Amarok is a very strange sword and can be difficult for people who are not used to it to weild. The blade is longer than a typical straight sword, extending from the hilt by 48' inches. Additionally, because of the counter-strong system in the handle, the hilt is longer and noticeably heavier than a normal sword. To compensate and ensure that the balance of the blade remains at the end of the hilt, the tip is also heavier. The two prongs that point towards the tip of the sword act as a hand guard and deflect the retracting sword away from the hand.
Abilities: Amarok has an incredible counter-spring system built into the hilt of the weapon. The springs are all kept at incredibly high tension and the result is that when a button is pressed beneath the horizontal hand guard, the blade segments into ten 4.8' portions of blade and shoots forward at incredibly velocity. A second button can lock it in place at any point in its extension and a third button causes a second set of springs (which are first stretched to their maximum tension as the releasing springs unload) to unload and cause the sword to retract. By pressing a combination of the locking releasing button, the tension of the releasing springs is transferred to the retracting springs, and the sword blade disconnects and can be fully extended. The when fully extended the segmented blade extends to 10 feet 6' inches, with 8 inch segments of stainless steel cable connecting the blade segments.

History: Luxos grew up in the Northern Water Tribe as a fairly normal boy. At a young age of 7 it was discovered that he was gifted with the ability of water bending and he trained under a master like many others. However, lack of focus and a general restlessness held him back from excelling as fast as the other students, and he was often grouped with other students considered less talented.
The only person who could ever seem to get the firecracker of a child to be diligent was his sister, Ahnah. While his father usually made the boy more excitable by taking him hunting and his mother could never get him to sit still while cooking, Ahnah was older and had a serene energy that could always mollify Luxos' impulsiveness. She was also the person he ran to when he fell off igloos as she was one of the star pupils of healing waterbending.
When Luxos turned 12, something that nobody expected happened. While tracking seal turtles, the group was expectedly attacked by a polar bear dog. Luxos was caught by surprise, and a paw raked across his chest, cutting his coat open. The other hunters quickly rallied and chased the beast off, and then began tending to Luxos' wounds. They washed the wound with hot water and then prepared bandages with balm to keep the wound from becoming infected. However, while the other men were busying themselves, Luxos was applying pressure to the injury. Suddenly his hand and injury started to feel cool and numb. When he looked down, his hands were covered with a glowing layer of blue water from when the wound had been washed. When he removed his hand, he saw that the gashes had closed, leaving raw marks where the claws had struck.
Neededless to say, Luxos became the object of ridicule when people found out that he was the only man attending healing classes at the waterbending. After three classes he quit. Ahnah reached out to her brother and in order to preserve his teenage dignity, began teaching the boy the art in secret. As the months passed, not only did Luxos pick up the skill quickly, but he also began to improve in other areas of waterbending as well.
About two years later, Ahnah became engaged to a traveling Earth Nation merchant. The two met as he passed through trying to develop a trade route for himself. A short three months later, Ahnah bade goodbye to her family and left with the man to start a life outside of the Northern Water Tribe.
Though Luxos sulked for weeks after she left, he threw himself into the waterbending, which he associated with his big sister. About a year later, he received a package from her. Inside was a beautiful and ornate straight sword and a white scarf. The scarf had belonged to Ahnah and a note inside explained that the sword was a rare treasure that her new husband had purchased. It was a Fire Nation style straight sword or jian with a spring loaded handle. When Luxos pushed a small button on the side, the blade shot forward, segmenting into many smaller parts connected by a cord.
When Luxos turned 18, he decided to leave the Northern Water Tribe. He wanted to go see the world that his sister was living in and escape the landscape that he had become so accustomed to.
