Personality
Chiyo is much like her father in the aspect of being wonderful to be around. Cheerful, optimistic, and sweet as apple pie, Chiyo can soften even the hardest of hearts. She's endearing and compassionate, things she also adopted from her doting single parent, and gets along best with adults, the elderly, and toddlers, instead of children her own age.
She is quite mature for fifteen, despite her willingness to enjoy her life to the fullest. Not usually one to mess about or get into trouble, you could call her a "stick in the mud", due to the fact that she'd rather stay home and cook or draw than to go out and push some poor sucker onto the permafrost.
She is extremely delicate in both features and demeanor, giving off an air that she needs to be protected and cherished. Such is what should be done with everyone woman, but with Chiyo, she could make a pure stranger believe that she is the center keeping it all together, and could break into pieces at any moment.
While she has most of the delightful aspects of her father, Chiyo also has quite a bit of her mother in her. The most obvious of this is her passion and drive for life, as well as her ferocity when it needs to be called upon. Most likely due to her Earth Kingdom blood, Chiyo would prefer to stand her ground than to use sweet words to get out of a situation. While kind and fragile, she is no pushover, as evident in her daily training--she's knocked full grown men onto their butts.
Chiyo is rather respected for one so young, be it in her delicate nature or the side of her that could make your blood turn to ice, you can't be certain. The girl is, quite bluntly, two-sided. You never quite know where you stand with her.
Abilities
Now while Chiyo is as delicate as a flower and fragile as spun-glass, when she earthbends, she becomes an entirely different person. Fierce, rooted, and strong, the change is almost frightening; she is only an intermediate, but has much potential with her earthbending--as is needed when learning in the frozen Water Tribes, because the earth is so hard to move. Her movements are strong and solid, and she is almost her father's opposite in this way, as she would rather head-butt you than to weave around you. She's also shown metalbending abilities, although she only did it once and it was a moment of high stress. There's not many earthbending teachers in the South, though, and so she has worked with what she can, and imported scrolls from the Earth Kingdom.
As for weaponry, Chiyo prefers to use twin tiger hook swords (Jet's preferred weapon). She's quite good at it, and here is where she adopts her father's fluidity. When using her hook swords, she becomes that delicate fragile young girl that most know and love--but with something nice and useful for harming you with. She's only an intermediate, as she is young, although she tries to train daily; her earthbending shows more potential, but she enjoys the fact that she's not restricted to just her bending.
Chiyo is one of the best cooks in the entire Southern Water Tribe. Whether it's her blend of spices or the way no one dish ever tastes the same twice, no one is really sure. People often wonder where she gets this from, as Akiyo couldn't boil water without it turning into some sort of green sludge, and her mother hadn't exactly been the stick-around-in-the-kitchen-and-cook kind of person. So, the root of Chiyo's masterful way around the kitchen remains a mystery, although no one complains.
Chiyo is a deep lover of music; she was once quoted as saying, "It reverberates in my bones and sets my blood to a boil; my lungs are empty until the sweet sound of music can fill them. Music is me, and I am music." She is an amazing lyre and harp player; her singing abilities obviously come from her father, although she is his opposite in song. While his voice is low and soothing, hers is high and passionate, perhaps even driven. It provides a nice change up when the two partake in a song together, as his gentle tone is often woven around with her angelic yet fierce rhythms and harmonies.
Because of her love for music, Chiyo is also an impressive dancer, and she doesn't mind letting you know about it. One of the few and only times she is ever TRULY in harmony with her own body is when she dances, and she's quite a delight to watch. She doesn't really have one particular type of dance; it's more that her body connects with the music in some way that no one--even she herself--understands, and she moves with it, able to express the harmonies and rhythms through her movements.
AppearanceHeight: 5'5"
Weight: 120
Eyes: Gray
Hair: Dark Brown
Skin: Bronze-ish
Chiyo is not unlike her father in good looks, if not even better looking. Delicate as a flower and fragile as spun-glass, Chiyo's body looks more like that of a woman than of a teenager. Her walk is graceful, slightly swaying; she is also like her father in the fact that she takes much pride in her appearance. Her hair, just a shade darker than her fathers--although still very chocolatey in color--is extremely long and thick.
She styles these amazing tresses up and behind her head, securing it with a blue Water Tribe pin and two black pins; the bottom half of it is braided down her back and secured with light green beads, to represent her Earth Kingdom heritage; by her face, two strands are also secured with these beads on either side.
For jewelry, she wears a single pair of silver earrings, given as a gift for her fifteenth birthday. Her nose is upturned and button-like, while her eyes are wide almonds and almost purple in color, although slightly more gray. Her upper lip is thin like her fathers, but her bottom one is full and lightly colored, providing a lovely contrast. A heart-shaped face and pointed chin cause her to look older than she truly is.
For clothing, she wears an Earth Kingdom shirt, the same green as her hair beads. It is sleeveless, with a sort of necklace part going up and around her neck--she tied her mother's betrothal necklace onto it. Over this, due to the frigid weather of the South, she wears a typical Water Tribe parka, white fur and blue leopard-seal leather. Her boots are white leather cuffed in gray fur. Instead of pants she wears a long skirt, which in no way impairs her movement, but her father says that because she is a lady, she should act and dress like one, no matter how much of a warrior she will become.
Weaponry & Other Gear
Item Name: Twin TigersMaterials: Metal, wood, leather
Description: (Jet's weapon.) Chiyo's beloved twin tiger hook swords, the Twin Tigers, are beautiful weapons. The handle is wood wrapped in leather, the metal of the weapon covered in an unbendable metal. (I'll go freaking look up an unbendable metal if it's really that dang important.)

Grandmother: Siri Tenshi // Age: 59 // Alive // Retired
Aunt: Aurora Shi (Married) // Age: 20 // Alive // Resides in the Fire Nation
Family:Father: Akiyo Tenshi // Age: 36 // Alive // Co-Head Warrior of the South
Mother: Meera Tenshi // Deceased
Chiyo, for as long as she can remember, had always been told that when she was born, she'd been singing. While she's sure her father's just feeding her a bunch of baloney, she loves it, as she often claims that, "music is me, I am music." Her mother, Meera, named her; Chiyo also likes to say that she'd been named "Eternal" because her mother had had to go so young.
The first five years of Chiyo's life are hazy. She remembers the smell of her mother when she hugged her, and is well aware of the fact that during the five years of which Meera lived, she was often tired and needed lots of rest. She also remembers her mother's typical response to Akiyo's claim that she was starving him-- "You've got two arms and two legs! Find something! And feed Chi, too!"
Meera's death brought about the revelation of Chiyo's ability to earthbend--and in turn, metalbend. The morning of her fifth birthday, expecting to see Momma and Daddy sitting on the couch with a present in their lap, she found her father sobbing on the floor in the hall. He wouldn't let her go into her mother's room; when she finally managed to get into the door after pushing past him, and seeing her mother's pale body curled under the blankets, she screamed.
Chiyo never cried. Not once in her life has she ever cried; this she knows. But when she saw her mother's body, she screamed and screamed. The very earth beneath her feet began rolling like a tumultuous tide, and as she continued, her father's staff--Curved Ivory--began shaking and eventually came flying towards her. The metal shaft wrapped itself around Chiyo's small body as if pulled to her--like she was gravity. After this, she passed out from the energy she'd expelled; her father had picked her up and taken her to her own bedroom, where he spent three hours working to get the staff off of her body as he sobbed. After this, Chiyo has never metalbended again. She, to this day, remembers what it felt like, but no matter how hard she tries she simply can't access that aspect of her bending.
--Back to Chiyo's poor memory of her beginning years. Everyone's heard stories and made up jokes about their childhood; Chiyo is no exception, as her father loves to rib her about things that she is uncertain of--such as whether he's lying about some story of her or not. After the age of five, though, Chiyo remembers everything with perfect clarity. She had been six when she'd been enrolled in school.
Sweet as apple pie, Chiyo made many friends, although kept few. She did well in school, usually earning perfect marks except in literature; unlike the other kids, she didn't go to waterbending training after school. No, she went straight home, where her father took four hours out of his day to show her the basics in weapons and teach her from earthbending scrolls. As time went on, he got better at teaching, and she with learning.
Eleven years of living like this have passed; Chiyo is growing into a beautiful young woman who will be the first earthbending Southern Water Tribe warrior.
