Akiyo and Chiyo Empty
PostSubject: Akiyo and Chiyo   Akiyo and Chiyo EmptyThu Dec 20, 2012 2:27 pm

Full Name:
Akiyo Tenshi // Chiyo Tenshi

Gender:
Male // Female

Age:
Thirty-six // Fifteen

Element:
Water // Earth

Birthplace:
Northern Water Tribe // Southern Water Tribe

Position:
Co-Head Warrior of the South // Southern Warrior in Training

Training:
Master Waterbender // Intermediate Earthbender
Master Weaponry// Intermediate Weaponry

Personality:

Akiyo: (316)

Akiyo is a wonderful person to be around; he's usually happy and smiling, and talks animatedly--especially when he is excited. He has a brilliant mind, which works wonders with his position as co-head warrior of the 'Tribe. He's usually friendly with anyone, and is very honest although he will never insult you.

He's an avid lover of food, thanks to his amazing cook of a daughter. Were he not so physically active, he'd be your typical pot-bellied, drink a beer after dinner, roaring with laughter male. He understands his limits though, and is very wise in food selections--although he makes sure that every meal he eats is enjoyed thoroughly. Or rather, his daughter does, as she's the one who generally does the cooking at home.

He finds life to be enjoyable, and is very optimistic about things. His mood becomes calm and clear while in battle or crisis, which is a very useful skill so that he is never thrown off by his own temper. He is very endearing and compassionate, and gentle as well, so upon first sight he would look like an easy opponent. Other than this, he's a man of wonderful moods and is pretty quiet when he speaks, making it easy to be around him.

Unless, of course, you mess with his daughter, Chiyo. The light of his life, Akiyo's world evidently revolves around his sweetheart of a fifteen year old. The only time you'll see him become mean or sour is if someone harms her--or a boy seems interested. The typical over-protective father, Akiyo does what he can to prevent Chiyo from even glancing in a boy's direction.

He understands that one day, his beautiful daughter will have to "fly the coop", but until the day she's eighteen and able to make her own decisions with a clear head, she's stuck under his wing. (Plus, he'd miss her cooking too much.)

Chiyo: (315)

Chiyo is much like her father in the aspect of being wonderful to be around. Cheerful, optimistic, and sweet as apple pie, Chiyo can soften even the hardest of hearts. She's endearing and compassionate, things she also adopted from her doting single parent, and gets along best with adults, the elderly, and toddlers, instead of children her own age.

She is quite mature for fifteen, despite her willingness to enjoy her life to the fullest. Not usually one to mess about or get into trouble, you could call her a "stick in the mud", due to the fact that she'd rather stay home and cook or draw than to go out and push some poor sucker onto the permafrost.

She is extremely delicate in both features and demeanor, giving off an air that she needs to be protected and cherished. Such is what should be done with everyone woman, but with Chiyo, she could make a pure stranger believe that she is the center keeping it all together, and could break into pieces at any moment.

While she has most of the delightful aspects of her father, Chiyo also has quite a bit of her mother in her. The most obvious of this is her passion and drive for life, as well as her ferocity when it needs to be called upon. Most likely due to her Earth Kingdom blood, Chiyo would prefer to stand her ground than to use sweet words to get out of a situation. While kind and fragile, she is no pushover, as evident in her daily training--she's knocked full grown men onto their butts.

Chiyo is rather respected for one so young, be it in her delicate nature or the side of her that could make your blood turn to ice, you can't be certain. The girl is, quite bluntly, two-sided. You never quite know where you stand with her.

Abilities:

Akiyo: (309)

Akiyo is, first and foremost, an amazing waterbender. Considered a master, his technique is that of the ocean--push and pull. His movements flow and dance in a truly agile way, each action perfectly balanced. While he has the ability to put far more power behind his waterbending, he prefers lithe, subtle movements that go with his lean body well. He's not the strongest male out there, but he puts it to his advantage, flowing with the enemy instead of using force to drive them back.

As for ice, Akiyo has the ability; he's not much of a fan of it though, unless he's freezing you in place or sticking your weapons under a sheet of it to prevent you from grabbing them. He usually uses ice when fighting benders of the three other elements. With healing, Akiyo has never had the ability; the same goes for bloodbending.

When it comes to weaponry, Akiyo is usually seen with a spear of some sort, rather than the standard sword or bow. He uses this the same way as he uses his waterbending; flowing, rhythmic steps, precise and careful. The result is quite fantastic to watch, and his particular style has earned him the title of master.

Akiyo is also something of a hunter. He enjoys the thrill of finding the marks in the snow and the ice, following them to his prey and then outsmarting it. He has never used brute force and never intends to. He's quite a good tracker, noting small signs that others forget to search for. His analytic mind is quite helpful in this.

Lastly and certainly not least, Akiyo has something of a "hidden talent" when it comes to singing. His daughter's favorite thing for him to do, Akiyo's voice is low and soothing, slow and gentle. When Chiyo was a child, Akiyo would sing her to sleep; after dinner, the two often enjoy a song or two together.

Chiyo: (510)

Now while Chiyo is as delicate as a flower and fragile as spun-glass, when she earthbends, she becomes an entirely different person. Fierce, rooted, and strong, the change is almost frightening; she is only an intermediate, but has much potential with her earthbending--as is needed when learning in the frozen Water Tribes, because the earth is so hard to move. Her movements are strong and solid, and she is almost her father's opposite in this way, as she would rather head-butt you than to weave around you. She's also shown metalbending abilities, although she only did it once and it was a moment of high stress. There's not many earthbending teachers in the South, though, and so she has worked with what she can, and imported scrolls from the Earth Kingdom.

As for weaponry, Chiyo prefers to use twin tiger hook swords (Jet's preferred weapon). She's quite good at it, and here is where she adopts her father's fluidity. When using her hook swords, she becomes that delicate fragile young girl that most know and love--but with something nice and useful for harming you with. She's only an intermediate, as she is young, although she tries to train daily; her earthbending shows more potential, but she enjoys the fact that she's not restricted to just her bending.

As mentioned in Akiyo's personality, Chiyo is one of the best cooks in the entire Southern Water Tribe. Whether it's her blend of spices or the way no one dish ever tastes the same twice, no one is really sure. People often wonder where she gets this from, as Akiyo couldn't boil water without it turning into some sort of green sludge, and her mother hadn't exactly been the stick-around-in-the-kitchen-and-cook kind of person. So, the root of Chiyo's masterful way around the kitchen remains a mystery, although no one complains.

Chiyo is a deep lover of music; she was once quoted as saying, "It reverberates in my bones and sets my blood to a boil; my lungs are empty until the sweet sound of music can fill them. Music is me, and I am music." She is an amazing lyre and harp player; her singing abilities obviously come from her father, although she is his opposite in song. While his voice is low and soothing, hers is high and passionate, perhaps even driven. It provides a nice change up when the two partake in a song together, as his gentle tone is often woven around with her angelic yet fierce rhythms and harmonies.

Because of her love for music, Chiyo is also an impressive dancer, and she doesn't mind letting you know about it. One of the few and only times she is ever TRULY in harmony with her own body is when she dances, and she's quite a delight to watch. She doesn't really have one particular type of dance; it's more that her body connects with the music in some way that no one--even she herself--understands, and she moves with it, able to express the harmonies and rhythms through her movements.

Appearance:

Akiyo: (269)

Height: 6'2"
Weight: Lean, lightly muscled (I have no freaking clue as to how much a guy should weigh.)
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Brown
Skin: Tan

Akiyo and Chiyo Akiyo

Akiyo is not exactly what you'd call drop-dead gorgeous, but he's pretty freaking close. In his facial features alone, the man could make a sinner change his ways; his chocolate brown hair is usually styled in an interesting fashion. A tail of hair twists over his ponytail, while spikes like a porcupine travel up his right temple to the back of his head. A few strands of hair are left hanging on the left side, with a tassel of feathers brushing against the side of his neck. His eyes are electric blue in color, while his nose is straight and long; his upper lip is fairly thin, with a slightly plumper bottom one to match, although they are far from feminine.

As for the rest of his features, Akiyo is lean and graceful; his muscles are tight and compact, although at first glance, he appears to be without them. His hands are large, on his left is his wedding ring. His feet are large, as is typical with males, and he wears leopard-seal leather boots that extend up to his calves. These are adorned with a white fur cuff; his pants are a dark navy blue, almost black, and made of the same material, keeping him nice and toasty. W

When not waddling around in the huge parkas of the South, Akiyo generally wears your typical Water Tribe top, extending to his mid-thigh, although it grows longer towards the center. He wraps a thick brown wrap around his waist, which protects his stomach, and his forearms are wrapped with what look like bandages, although these also protect his arms.

Chiyo: (326)

Height: 5'5"
Weight: 120
Eyes: Gray
Hair: Dark Brown
Skin: Bronze-ish

Akiyo and Chiyo Amajihamatenkara42

Chiyo is not unlike her father in good looks, if not even better looking. Delicate as a flower and fragile as spun-glass, Chiyo's body looks more like that of a woman than of a teenager. Her walk is graceful, slightly swaying; she is also like her father in the fact that she takes much pride in her appearance. Her hair, just a shade darker than her fathers--although still very chocolatey in color--is extremely long and thick.

She styles these amazing tresses up and behind her head, securing it with a blue Water Tribe pin and two black pins; the bottom half of it is braided down her back and secured with light green beads, to represent her Earth Kingdom heritage; by her face, two strands are also secured with these beads on either side.

For jewelry, she wears a single pair of silver earrings, given as a gift for her fifteenth birthday. Her nose is upturned and button-like, while her eyes are wide almonds and almost purple in color, although slightly more gray. Her upper lip is thin like her fathers, but her bottom one is full and lightly colored, providing a lovely contrast. A heart-shaped face and pointed chin cause her to look older than she truly is.

For clothing, she wears an Earth Kingdom shirt, the same green as her hair beads. It is sleeveless, with a sort of necklace part going up and around her neck--she tied her mother's betrothal necklace onto it. Over this, due to the frigid weather of the South, she wears a typical Water Tribe parka, white fur and blue leopard-seal leather. Her boots are like her fathers, although they are white leather cuffed in gray fur. Instead of pants she wears a long skirt, which in no way impairs her movement, but her father says that because she is a lady, she should act and dress like one, no matter how much of a warrior she will become.

Weaponry & Other Gear:

Akiyo:

Item Name: Curved Ivory
Materials: Bone, metal, twine, feathers
Description: "Curved Ivory" is the name of Akiyo's beloved spear; named accordingly by Chiyo's mother, who, upon first seeing it, had said that the spear-head had looked like curved ivory. The spear-head is made of bone, tied to the metal shaft with twine and adorned with feathers. It's quite useful, and the light-weight metal shaft instead of wood makes it all the better a weapon, preventing breakage and such.

Chiyo:

Item Name: Twin Tigers
Materials: Metal, wood, leather
Description: (Jet's weapon.) Chiyo's beloved twin tiger hook swords, the Twin Tigers, are beautiful weapons. The handle is wood wrapped in leather, the metal of the weapon covered in an unbendable metal. (I'll go freaking look up an unbendable metal if it's really that dang important.)

History:

Akiyo: (759)

(Intermediate) Family:
Father: Arshan Tenshi // Age: 61 // Alive // Retired
Mother: Siri Tenshi // Age: 59 // Alive // Retired
Sister: Aurora Shi (Married) // Age: 20 (Akiyo's younger sister by 16 years) // Alive // Resides in the Fire Nation
Wife: Meera Tenshi // Deceased
Child(ren): Chiyo Tenshi // Age: 15 // Alive // Warrior in Training

Akiyo's humble beginning began on a blizzarding day in the Northern Water Tribe. His parents, Arshan and Nagini, had been visiting relatives when his mother went into premature labor. A healthy baby was born, albeit four weeks early, and was named "Akiyo" after the day he'd been born, which means "white world". Indeed, the world had been almost pearly when his cries had cut through the sound of the wind.

At the age of two, when he was deemed strong enough for the journey, Akiyo and his parents moved back to the South to raise him in his true homeland. They were received warmly, and Akiyo settled in almost immediately. He'd never really gotten ill or cold, and was often caught running around nude in the winter storms simply because he had been hot sitting next to the roaring fire inside.

He grew up happily, an only child for all of his childhood. He was put into a good school and got good marks, and was a fairly popular boy. Having lots of friends, you would expect a bit of drama, but Akiyo was so diplomatic that everyone got along quite well. He was also fairly rambunctious, constantly getting in trouble and pulling pranks on the higher-ups of the Southern Tribe.

By the time he reached the age of thirteen, Akiyo was doing fairly well for himself in school and training. Waterbending came easily to him, and because of his small frame, he was usually able to best his opponents by quick-thinking and smooth actions. He also stopped worrying about being best buds with all the kids in the 'Tribes, just keeping one or two fairly close to him and leaving it at that.

When he was sixteen, he met his future wife, Meera. It'd been days after he'd made his own staff--a rite of passage in some areas of the ever-expanding 'Tribe--and he had been showing off. Meera, upon first sight of the thing, exclaimed that he had used the ivory tusk of some great animal for the speerhead, calling it "curved ivory". Akiyo and his friends had a good laugh about it, until Meera knocked them all on their butts with some impressive earthbending, despite the frozen ground.

Akiyo had been immensely impressed, and ran after the fuming Water Tribe earthbender who was storming away. She immediately threatened to knock him onto his butt again, but eventually he smoothed it all over and the two became close friends. He soon learned that her tough-girl exterior was just a shell to protect her sweet ways; young and naive, the growing man found himself falling in love with the beautiful girl.

At the age of twenty, after having been refused countless times, Akiyo was finally able to marry his "highschool sweetheart"; her father often grumbled that at nineteen, she was far too young to be getting married, but they were very happy. When she was twenty and he twenty-one, little Chiyo Tenshi was born into their household. She came into the world quietly, eyes wide open and wondering. Meera chose the name "Chiyo", meaning "eternal", in the hopes that her daughter would make her mark on the world and last in everyone's hearts and minds forever.

The birth of Chiyo had taken its toll on Meera though, and she fell ill as her body seemed to turn on itself. She tried every remedy, invited every healer, and each day she felt worse. Akiyo, during this time, was accepted as a warrior for the Southern Tribe, a life long ambition of his. On the eve of Chiyo's fifth birthday, Meera passed quietly in her sleep.

Akiyo cried for weeks. Chiyo, during this time, often spent more time with grandparents' and at one point Akiyo's sister than her heartbroken father. Within a few months, though, Akiyo was finally able to accept the inevitability of it all, and vowed to make his wife's hopes for their daughter come true.

Ten years of daily aches for his beloved have passed, and while Akiyo never stopped living life to the fullest, he also misses his wife deeply. He feels lucky to have been blessed with Chiyo, though, and hence the "over-protective dad" comes into play as he wants to protect her from every harm.

Also during these ten years, Akiyo rose through the ranks of the South to become the co-head warrior of the South, a high honor that he fulfills beautifully. He trains his daughter in the art of combat as well, hoping for her to take his place when he is gone.

AKIYO:

Akiyo Tenshi

Akiyo's steps were sure, confident as he walked through the Tribe, patrolling the streets. His daughter, Chiyo was hanging back here and there, mostly to pay attention to what street vendors were selling in their markets."Come on, little penguin, we're visiting your grandparents when I'm done!" Akiyo called over his shoulder, referring to Chiyo's childhood when he called her "little penguin". When she'd been young, she always waddled like one in the thick parkas traditional to the South.

Chiyo looked up from a necklace she'd been eyeing, picking up the hem of her skirt and running towards him, an occasional flash of her dark bronze knee peeking from the uplifted skirt.

"What's the occasion?" she asked as she slowed next to him, hiding her hands in the sleeves of her parka, her calm demeanor and willowy ways back in place after the silly jog. She held her head high, looking rather regal as she went, small snowflakes catching in her hair as they went.

"Nothing special," Akiyo began, before turning to look at her with a wide grin. "Your grandparents didn't forget about your final exams, you know," he said, pride glowing in his eyes. Chiyo immediately ducked her head, not quite meeting his eye.

"Suruki did better," she said after a moment, sniffing. Akiyo merely chuckled, slinging an arm around his daughter's shoulders as they continued on. She cracked a smile as they went, waving to a group of teens who had nodded in her direction. Akiyo glared at the two boys among them, who immediately stopped looking at her and went back to whatever it was they were doing. Chiyo couldn't really tell.

Eventually the rounds were finished, and Akiyo walked to his parents' lovely home with his beautiful daughter by his side. The doors were flung open with wide smiles, the warmth from within enveloping them. Arshan and Nagini--or Pop and Momma, as both Chiyo and Akiyo called them--stepped aside, ushering the two in.

Their blue parkas were removed, as it was too warm in the home with them on; Akiyo's traditional Water Tribe garb fit in with the blues, whites, and silvers of the room; Chiyo's green Earth Kingdom top stood out, although with her white fur skirt and white leather boots, she fit in from the bottom half.

They were lead into the parlor, where they all sang and danced merrily; Chiyo's dancing, mixed with the lovely voices of her grandparents, caused the atmosphere to glow with delight and festivity. Then, a toast went up in Chiyo's name, rewarding her near-perfect scores on all of her exams. After that, they had a traditional Water Tribe dinner, after which Chiyo was given an extra piece of desert.

The moon was high in the sky when Chiyo and her father buttoned themselves back up in their parkas, kissing Pop and Momma on their cheeks before leaving into the still-snowing night. They headed home, laughing and talking the whole way. When they arrived home, they got ready for bed, brushing their teeth together; Akiyo tucked his daughter in before going to bed himself; the Tribe was quiet as the nightly snowstorm continued on outside the safe haven they called home.

Chiyo: (538)

(Intermediate) Family:
Father: Akiyo Tenshi // Age: 36 // Alive // Co-Head Warrior of the South
Mother: Meera Tenshi // Deceased

Chiyo, for as long as she can remember, had always been told that when she was born, she'd been singing. While she's sure her father's just feeding her a bunch of baloney, she loves it, as she often claims that, "music is me, I am music." Her mother, Meera, named her; Chiyo also likes to say that she'd been named "Eternal" because her mother had had to go so young.

The first five years of Chiyo's life are hazy. She remembers the smell of her mother when she hugged her, and is well aware of the fact that during the five years of which Meera lived, she was often tired and needed lots of rest. She also remembers her mother's typical response to Akiyo's claim that she was starving him-- "You've got two arms and two legs! Find something! And feed Chi, too!"

Meera's death brought about the revelation of Chiyo's ability to earthbend--and in turn, metalbend. The morning of her fifth birthday, expecting to see Momma and Daddy sitting on the couch with a present in their lap, she found her father sobbing on the floor in the hall. He wouldn't let her go into her mother's room; when she finally managed to get into the door after pushing past him, and seeing her mother's pale body curled under the blankets, she screamed.

Chiyo never cried. Not once in her life has she ever cried; this she knows. But when she saw her mother's body, she screamed and screamed. The very earth beneath her feet began rolling like a tumultuous tide, and as she continued, her father's staff--Curved Ivory--began shaking and eventually came flying towards her. The metal shaft wrapped itself around Chiyo's small body as if pulled to her--like she was gravity. After this, she passed out from the energy she'd expelled; her father had picked her up and taken her to her own bedroom, where he spent three hours working to get the staff off of her body as he sobbed. After this, Chiyo has never metalbended again. She, to this day, remembers what it felt like, but no matter how hard she tries she simply can't access that aspect of her bending.

--Back to Chiyo's poor memory of her beginning years. Everyone's heard stories and made up jokes about their childhood; Chiyo is no exception, as her father loves to rib her about things that she is uncertain of--such as whether he's lying about some story of her or not. After the age of five, though, Chiyo remembers everything with perfect clarity. She had been six when she'd been enrolled in school.

Sweet as apple pie, Chiyo made many friends, although kept few. She did well in school, usually earning perfect marks except in literature; unlike the other kids, she didn't go to waterbending training after school. No, she went straight home, where her father took four hours out of his day to show her the basics in weapons and teach her from earthbending scrolls. As time went on, he got better at teaching, and she with learning.

Ten years of living like this have passed; Chiyo is growing into a beautiful young woman who will be the first earthbending Southern Water Tribe warrior.
