Full Name: Elaheh "Elie" Kundun
Gender: Female
Age: 25
Element: Air
Birthplace: Southern Air Temple
Position: Airbender/Thief
History:
Elaheh was born to two Airbenders of the Southern Air Temple, Yeshe and Elaheh Kundun. Due to medical complications that arose during her birth, her mother did not survive the birth. Elaheh was given her mother's name by her father as a remembrance, though she is far more often referred to as "Elie" by her father, herself, and others alike. Though the only thing she really has to go by to remember her mother are stories from her father, she is quite proud to carry on her name. According to her father, Elie also looks amazingly like her mother, particularly her striking green eyes.
As she was growing up at the Air Temple, Elie was always of the...mischievous type, an early hint at her future...very different type of mischief. Naturally her father tried to fix this little issue, with little success. At the very least he managed to get Elie to train with him...most of the time anyways. She much preferred just going around the temple having fun to her father's rigid training sessions. At least 80% of the time, her father won out and she ended up training though. These trainings included both Airbending as well as the basic fundamentals of the Air Nomad's culture and lifestyle. The Airbending aspects of the training stuck significantly better than the other half.
That fact became increasingly obvious as Elie grew older as the frequency with which she abandoned her father's training sessions grew and grew. She silently became enamored with the idea of simply leaving the Air Temple all together. This was not out of some distaste for the Air Temple itself, which she in fact loved, both for the people there and as her home. She wanted to leave simply because she wanted more. Something she felt she didn't have living only at the Air temple. Freedom. Here she had to follow all sorts of rules set down by the Air Council as well as her father. Here she couldn't do whatever she wanted to do or go wherever she wanted to go. She had to obey the standards set by everyone else and could go nowhere but here. She wanted to be like the Air that all those at the temple claimed to revere and use. As far as she was concerned, the Air was the embodiment of freedom and as far as she was concerned staying here also meant she couldn't be like the Air...so she left. At the age of 16 she simply left the Air Temple and her father in the middle of the night and didn't look back.
For a while she wandered around the Earth Kingdom, doing exactly what she had set out to do, namely: whatever it is she wanted. Things were a tad bit rough after the small amount of money she "borrowed" from her father ran out considering how lacking she was in the job department. She didn't exactly know how to "work" per se so an actual job wasn't exactly an option either. Things turned around soon enough though, for better or worse, when she met a young Earthbender by the name of Fei Lee. Fei Lee was, for all intents and purposes, a thief. Elie's meeting of this young man is the singular reason for her decent into the wide world of thievery. Not that she really regrets it.
As a pair, these two quickly became quite the thieving duo. Elie picked up on the tricks of the trade quickly. She took a liking to it just as quickly, though it helped that she ended up not having any moral objections to it. As far as she was concerned morals and laws were just more things that hindered her "freedom" so refused to be obligated into following them. It wasn't all that long until she developed feelings for her partner. As far as she was led to believe, Fei Lee shared the same feelings. It wasn't until much later, two years later in fact, that it came to her attention that that was far from true. It was brought to her attention that the man she had fallen in love with was simply using her for her talents, her Airbending giving him access to any number of new places to steal from. When this became obvious to her during an argument the pair was having, Elie left him...for good.
She became lost after this. The life she had been leading outside of the Air Temple for two whole years had ended and she didn't know what to do with herself now. Eventually, in her daze, she wandered back to her home, to the Southern Air Temple, where all she could do was cry in her father's arms. She stayed there at the Temple for a few weeks, her father, despite his better judgment, didn't tell his daughter off for her decisions, realizing that now was not the time, merely just asking her about the things she had done while she was gone. Elie admitted to the things she had done, but showed no remorse for her numerous thefts and other actions. Eventually she would leave again, her father allowing her to, deciding she was better off learning life's lessons on her own rather than from him, though he did know she wouldn't have stayed even if he had asked her to.
For the next seven years, she continued doing the only thing she really knew how to do: stealing things. It was during this time she developed into who she is today, deciding who she wanted to be as well as her opinions on life, among other things. It was during this time frame she obtained her various current accessories and garments as well as got her numerous tattoos as well as firmly developed her fighting styles and other skill sets. She made constant visits back to the Southern Air Temple, going there at least once every month or two. Her father had told everyone she had gotten a job as a merchant to explain away her constant absence as well as the numerous nice things she "owned." It was anyone's guess how many people actually believed what she was, but for the most part she was treated as another member of the temple. She is currently on her way to visit her father once more, having recently obtained a puppy, something her father had never let her have as a child.
Personality:
Elie is far from a common member of an Air Temple, or any Airbender for that matter. She is, first and foremost, incredibly selfish. She likes owning nice things and will willingly take these nice things she wants from whomever has them. Her proclamations that she is not a thief but a "Procurer of Shiny Things Pompous Rich People Don't Need Anyways" gives the impression that she has some sort of delusion that she is, in fact, not a thief, but that is not the case. She knows she's a thief. She just doesn't like the term. It also implies that she only steals from rich people, which is also not the case. She, jokingly, considers "anyone who has more money than my pops" is rich, which, as her father is a monk, is pretty much everyone.
Elie is an energetic young woman who has issues with acting her age. Her selfishness leads her to proclaim that she should be having fun and doing what she wants at all times and has decided that she shouldn't have to act appropriately for her age to do so. Her childish attitude makes her get along quite well with children, particularly the children at the Southern Air Temple, much to her father's chagrin. She is quite attached to them, and they're basically enamored with her and her exciting stories of her adventures. Though the way she tells the stories, she makes little attempts to hide the thieving aspects of them and has effectively flanderized the children's opinions of what a "merchant" is, also to her father's chagrin.
Despite her father's distaste for the way she lives her life, and his constant reminders of his opinion to her, the two get along quite well. He seems to believe that she'll eventually come to her senses and she has no negative opinion of him, her only real opinion is that he's her father and that she loves him. This opinion extends to pretty much the rest of the Southern Air Temple as well. Even if she may not live there anymore and even if some of the people who live there are suspect of her status as a "merchant," she still considers it her home and treats it as such under any and all circumstances.
Abilities:
As the child of two top Airbenders, Elie has a notable amount of inborn talent and had some of the best training in Airbending from her Father. That said, her general lack of interest in training and the fact that she abandoned this training when she was 16 has left her far less skilled then someone in her position should really have been at her age. Of course, following her abandonment she DID continue to use her Airbending in her...ventures, so still has plenty of practical application under her belt, something most monks probably don't get. So, while application is no real substitute for training with a master, she's still quite skilled at Airbending.
Elie is not bound, spiritually or otherwise, by the usual Aibender's defensive outlook to combat based Airbending so has refined her style to include much more numerous offensive applications. That said, her defensive usage is slightly hindered compared to most who keep to the defensive side of it, but Airbending's default, superior defense still shines through in her basic style. Her specialization, however, has got to be in the use of augmenting both her speed and agility through the use of Airbending. This being the most prominent way to aid in her thieving endeavors.
Outside of Bending, Elie's expertise lies in stealth. As a thief, she really had no other choice but to become good at not being found and caught or she'd be out of a job. When that fails, her second specialty comes into play: the art of running away. Her use of Airbending to augment her already quick and agile form makes her exceptionally good at getting away from people she doesn't want to be near. When both these fail she will fight, combining her Airbending with a surprisingly keen skill with, mostly improvised, knife fighting. With that in mind she keeps at least 7 knives on her at all times with an additional ten smaller knives meant strictly as throwing knives.
Appearance:
Fitting with her personality, Elie makes often claims that she's a beautiful young woman, which to the large majority of people you could ask is quite true, something she's completely willing to use to her advantage against "the impressionable minds of the world of men." She has exceptionally long blonde hair that reaches all the way down her back, stopping right above the opposite side to her belly button. It is more often hung loosely and unstyled, but she will sometimes put it into a very long ponytail when she needs it out of her way. On top of her head she wears a solid, dark green bandana at almost all times. Around her forehead she wears a pair of brown goggles, just under her bandana, though rarely actually uses them over her eyes. Multiple strands of her blonde hair stick out from under the bandana, both over and underneath the goggles. She has a distinct lack of the Air Nomad's arrow tattoos since she left them long before reaching the level of mastery where they are given. Of particular note are her striking green eyes she inherited from her mother.
Elie's outfit in no way associates her with her home, or anywhere else for that matter, instead being a mishmash of things from varying areas of the world, a testament to where she's been and the things she's stolen. She is known to switch outfits to suit her needs, but her primary outfit remains relatively the same. She wears a loose fitting jacket type piece of clothing. It is white and relatively thin as well as hooded, a hood she often uses to hide her face when she needs to. The "jacket" only reaches down to just above her belly button and has no sleeves. Through the oversized arm holes a much tighter black, sleeveless shirt can be seen underneath the jacket. This one also cuts off above her belly button, leaving her midriff exposed. The bottom half of her outfit consists of loose, black, relatively short shorts of cloth that only extend a little bit above the halfway point between her knee and waist. She wears black boots with several buckles that reach up to just below the knees. From beneath the boots black stockings reach up past her knees to about halfway between where the boots end and her shorts begin.
The real testament to where she's been are the large number of accessories she wears about her person. Her favorite of which is a dark green scarf made out of the finest Earth Kingdom silk. It is quite long, a majority of it at her back reaching down just past her buttocks. The rest is wrapped up around her neck, the back half under her hood. Also around her neck, as well as around her wrists, is a large amount of jewelry. She has multiple pieces from the Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation, and BOTH the Water Tribes. She has none from the Air Nomads as these are the singular people she will simply NOT steal from. Despite her lack of the Air Nomad's arrow tattoos, she is still heavily tattooed. The most prominent of these tattoos covers almost the entirety of her left arm. This tattoo is not colored, being black throughout. It's mostly abstract but has a discernible motif of, fittingly, flowers in the wind. On her stomach to the left of her belly button is another tattoo, this one being a complex artistic rendition of a windflower, which has a deeper meaning then just the name. Finally, in the space on her left leg exposed between her stockings and her shorts is yet another tattoo, but not enough of it is exposed to be able to tell what it's supposed to be. Finally she has a collection of knives, 7 to be exact, strapped to her person at varying locations in addition to two pouches at her waist filled with a total of 10 additional small throwing knives.

It was nice and crowded in this particular market in the heart of Ba Sing Se. Merchants were yelling about their glorious wares and of the things that were "once owned by the Avatar." No self respecting Avatar would be caught dead in that shirt, that's for sure. This particular market being found in one of the higher class districts, there were nobles all over the place; out on their little walks to show off all their nice new clothes to everyone else who was doing just the same. Pompous fools. Perfect targets.
Among the many nobles stood each one's various Earthbending body guards, their eyes darting around here and there to make sure their little masters remained safe and sound. Though all their eyes turned when a particularly expensive sounding crash sounded throughout the area. If the cries of "AH MY VASE!" were any indication it had seemed like someone had broken a vase. The merchant owner of said vase beginning to angrily yell at the nearest noble that they had broken it seemed to confirm these suspicions. Of course the noble denied doing such things claiming the "wind" had knocked it over, but the merchant wasn't having any of it and continued his tirade, demanding compensation. This confrontation dragged the attention of all the little nobles and little merchants, it being something interesting in their boring little lives.
When the argument finally subsided, which took quite some time, everyone went back to their business as the noble had stormed off after having paid the merchant. This slightest of lulls in activity were quickly brought to a close when the merchant directly next to the one with the vase cried out something along the lines of "I've been robbed!" This obviously brought everyone's attention to THIS man now. It seems he had really been robbed during the distraction as he was missing both his money pouch and any number of jewelry pieces. It was in short order that several of the guards/bodyguards began spreading out in search of this thief.
This was then cut off by ANOTHER merchant crying about being robbed as well. It seemed in the distraction cause by the man who had been robbed during the previous distraction had given this thief enough time to steal THIS man's money as well as some of his wares. Now the clamor had turned into a commotion, the merchants starting to pack up and the nobles leaving less they became subject to the thieving. Meanwhile, the guards continued their search, soon deciding that the thief was no longer in this area. Their decision to spread out to other areas of the city in search of the thief was soon deemed unneeded as a bark sounded off from a nearby roof.
This brought their attention to said roof where a woman in a strange white and black outfit seemed to be hiding, attempting to cover a small white dog's mouth. "I really need to teach you a few things about stealth, Tai..." She muttered before the Earthbending guards made their move. One of them had bent the stone roof in a spire in an attempt to throw the woman off the roof and down to their level, but she had anticipated as such, so was able to instead push off the same spire, executing an impressive back flip, landing neatly on the fountain in the middle of the square. The hood she had worn had fallen during her move, revealing both her face and letting her long blonde hair flow out in the wind. One of the Earthbenders made a cry after this. "Nobody could make a jump like that! She's an Airbender!"
"And that blonde hair!" Another cried. "I know who that is! She's that notorious thief! Elaheh's her name! She's been causing a ruckus all across the continent! There's one hell of a bounty on her head!
"Ohhhhh ya found me and Taiku here out, boys." Elaheh said in a heavily mocking tone with a wink. "You can call me 'Elie' though. That's what my pops always called me anyways. Since my fame seems to have proceeded me, how 'bout I give you guys an autograph and you just let me go? Please?"
Their response was a prompt summoning of two more spires from the ground, barreling towards Elie. Elie made a dodge, jumping upwards to avoid the attack while muttering something along the lines of "that's a no then." She landed atop the spires, only now realizing that the dog was still in her arms. Not entirely sure what to do with him at the moment and not really having time to think about it, she plopped him into her hood as she jumped up to avoid another set of spires. Now she made her own move, jumping off the spires and straight down into the crowd of the 4 or 5 guards who had stuck around. Landing in the exact middle of them, Elie immediately spread her arms outwards, letting off a powerful blast of wind all around her and knocking the guards off their feet.
With a quick glance behind her to make sure Taiku was still holding on tight, she made her escape stage right as the Earthbenders got back to their feet...And the chase began...
