The Legions of Kyoshi

Meili Mitali Zalika	In times past, before Meili was Queen, and was just a Dai Li, she had carried much involvement on the tiny Island of Kyoshi. the Dai Li and the Kyoshi Warriors had always been connected, if nothing else, by the Avatar who had created them several centuries ago. However, Meili had done more than that, and the moment she had become queen, the system of the Kyoshi Warriors had changed drastically. They were no longer simply Kyoshi Warriors. They were the Kyoshi Legion. Thousands of Kyoshi Warriors had been brought into their ranks, and all received the same type of masterful training that Meili was adept with. They did not learn every secret technique that the queen had, but they were still very much trained in The Art Of War. With impending war approaching their shores, the Kyoshi Warriors were in a prime geographical position to move south and west. a handful of them would occupy the major targets in the southwestern Earth Kingdom, as well as the Southern Air Temple, which was where Meili figured the most invading would be done. Incidentally, the actions at Kyoshi had been one of Meili's "quieter" actions. It was not a secret shot at power, but another line of defense [or perhaps offense] against the other nations. Like the Dai Li, they served the Earth King (Or Queen, in this case), and so with them at her command... Meili's troops were just that much stronger.

The Legions of Kyoshi:

The Kyoshi Legion is organized into five legions spread across the Earth Kingdom at key strategic locations. The legions are thus: (Unlinked names are NPCs)

1st Kyoshi Warrior Legion
Symbol: The Tessen-wielding Tiger
Headquarters: The Breach, Outer Wall, Ba Sing Se

Leadership-
Commander: General Katsumi Yu, the Tiger-General of Kyoshi (★★★★)
Second Officer: Major Tonatsa Ai // Zhu-Rong Ma

The First Legion is known as the fiercest of the Kyoshi Legions. Belonging to the personal command of the supreme commander of all Kyoshi Warriors in the Earth Kingdom, General Katsumi Yu. With the Kyoshi Elites being counted amongst their number and their chief charge being the protection of Ba Sing Se itself, the First is easily the premier military force in the Earth Kingdom.

2nd Kyoshi Warrior Legion
Symbol: The Masked Crane
Headquarters: Tong-Lao Castle, Gaoling

Leadership-
Commander: Major General Taia Bo Lai (★★)
Second Officer: Captain Enla So

Stationed in the city of Gaoling, the Second Legion is mainly charged with the protection of the city and the mountainous countryside nearby. With numerous expert archers amongst their ranks, the Second is often called into war when ranged battle is preferable.

3rd Kyoshi Warrior Legion
Symbol: The Armored Badger-mole
Headquarters: The Citadel, Omashu

Leadership-
Commander: Major General Aoi Saka (★★)
Second Officer: Captain Maia Shung

The second largest of the legions, the Third Legion is charged with protecting the city of Omashu. The Third is famed for their skills at siege warfare. Often, they are deployed to either break or reinforce a fortress's defenses. They have many earthbenders amongst their ranks.

4th Kyoshi Warrior Legion
Symbol: The Twelve Buzzard Wasps
Headquarters: Shao Palace, Si Wong Desert, near the Misty Palms Oasis

Leadership-
Commander: Major General Honoka Yamatsu (★★)
Second Officer: Captain Kiara Saka

The smallest of the five legions, the Fourth is charged with the region surrounding the Si Wong Desert. Mainly involved with curbing the actions of the Sand Bender Tribes, the Fourth finds it's home in the extensive base of Shao Palace, a far less palatial place than it's name would imply. Many Kyoshi recruits are sent here to be trained in survival techniques. There are few places less hospitable in the Earth Kingdom. General Yamatsu's troops are renowned for their ability to cope with unfavorable environmental conditions and outlast their enemies. They are rarely, however, pulled away from their charge.

5th Kyoshi Warrior Legion
Symbol: Open Tessen, Closed Tessen
Headquarters: Wu Shaya City, the Frontier

Second Officer: Captain Na Tang

The final Kyoshi Legion, the Fifth are regarded as the ultimate rangers. Charged with the protection of the frontier territories, the Fifth is easily the most widely arrayed and split of the legions. Calling the so-called 'city' of Wu Shaya, a large wood and stone walled tent city named for the mountain under which it sits home, the Fifth are skilled at tracking through the forest and across great distance. They are often called upon to deal with major threats to the safety of Earth Kingdom roads, such as bandit clans and other such undesirables.
