Archer, Avatar, Bender, and Blocker

Kano stepped off the ship, looking around at the busy port with a gleam of dire interest in his eyes. The Fire Nation! He'd dreamed of visiting this place his entire life. Granted, it was hardly the only such dream, but it was a dream nonetheless. The heat was incredible, even here, yet it was invigorating.

"This is amazing!" he said, continuing to sweep the entire place with his gaze. It was the largest city he'd ever been in. Even the Northern Water Tribe at it's peak wasn't this large a metropolis.

Kano looked around at the sound of the jabbering voice. He couldn't help but crack a smile. Some Fire Nation she-archer had ambushed Zulera. This was going to be interesting. He walked over to a crate nearby and took a seat to watch, smiling broadly as he extracted a small cup from his bag and a tin filled with dried green leaves. He put a few leaves in the cup and then looked around.

There weren't many likely clean water sources around. The ships in the harbor were almost all belting out huge amounts of smoke. Machines didn't do much for water clarity. There weren't any clean puddles nearby and there wasn't a single well in sight. There was, however, quite a bit of heat. And where there was water and heat, there was humidity, and lots of it.

Normally, he wasn't so good at pulling water from the air. But that was because there wasn't much of it most anywhere else. Here, though, he could practically taste the water in the air. He passed a hand through thin air around him and managed to condense enough liquid to fill his little tea cup. He then set it to boiling and turned his attention back to Zulera's encounter with the Fire Nation girl.

Kano watched the exchange between the two of them with interest. Knowing Zulera, he was eager to see what she'd make of this eager beaver-cat.

"Hey, Zai..." he said, taking notice of the phoenix emblazoned on the archer's uniform. He thought he knew most of what there was to know about the foreign military organizations. "What division does she belong to? I don't recognize the insignia."

Kano hopped down from his perch on the crate when everyone moved off, following their Fire Nation guide. She didn't look like an elite warrior, but he hadn't met many elite warriors. He wasn't sure he'd recognize one if he met them. It still took him a good fight to get a feel for what someone could do.

He downed his tea, leaves and all. He didn't swallow the leaves. He liked chewing on these. They were leaves from the Spirit Tree. Lots of people in the Northern Water Tribe treasured it's leaves for the sweet tea they produce when brewed. After being brewed, they had a sort of chewy texture that he liked. As he started chewing these, he was glad of the fact that his mother had procured a tin of leaves for him.

"Paperwork, huh?" Kano said, jogging a little to catch up. "I don't suppose a passport signed by the chief of the Northern Water Tribe means much to you guys?"

Kano shrugged at the Phoenix Core archer's words. He hadn't really expected it to get him out of the paperwork. It was more that he wasn't sure they would accept his passport. The Fire Nation and the Water Tribes weren't exactly the closest of allies. He pulled out his paperwork with all the rest and began filling out the forms. It took him all of five minutes to finish off the documents. There were some advantages to being an obsessive bibliophile -- You learned to read and write quickly.

He slapped the little blue scroll signed by Xaal Osiris on the table and slid it over to their escort.

"Knock yourself out." he said, smiling. He turned and started examining a very interesting looking set of spears in a rack on the wall. They were a far cry from the bone weapons of the Water Tribes...

Kano ran a finger along the edge of one of the weapons, a glaive he knew but couldn't remember. The design was so familiar. It killed him that he couldn't remember what it was called. When his finger ran to the end of the blade, he flicked the metal, listening carefully as it hummed. When everyone else had voiced their preference, he figured it was his turn.

"I usually just like to wander." he said, not turning away from the polearms on the wall. "I end up finding more of interest in that way. But I wouldn't say no to the company." he chuckled to himself. Then he remembered. "Guan dao!"

He looked around, realizing how strange it must have been, his outburst.

"I remembered what it was called."

"Hm." Kano said, rubbing his chin. "Trying Fire Nation grub sounds very interesting indeed. I'm in."

He picked up his passport and rolled it up again, tying it closed with it's string before tucking it back in his satchel. He took one last look at the weapons on the wall and then moved toward the door.

"So," he said. "What kind of food do you guys have in these parts?"
