Minali Otoyome	At his words, she tries to settle down, giving a small nod. Taking a shuddering breath, she reached up to wipe at her eyes with the heel of her left hand, to banish the still-forming tears - the right was still cradling the metallic arm frame. Minali glanced up at him again, watching Akhet humble himself before her and then try to lighten the mood with his words, soothing over the mistake he'd made. Swaying to her left, just slightly, then back to the right, she lightly punched him in the chest, just beneath his right shoulder, using the centrifugal force to swing against him. It was halfhearted, at best, but it seemed to be the only reparations that she would take. "Ah'm kinda hungry," Minali spoke, answering his question in a roundabout way, "M'shop probably ain't clear, yet... Y'wanna find somethin' t'eat? Ah know've a few good places, in th'south've th'city." Her accent was fairly thick, as she tried to stay calm and steady. Really, she was glad that her initial reaction had been unwarranted... Akhet could be a good friend to her - he'd already given her an idea for a new device - and she didn't want him to, somehow, not be as good as he'd shown.

Akhet Sumatra Tallarico	with a slight "umf!" as she hit him, Akhet laughed, massaging his shoulder briefly. "I might just have to take my shirt off and heal that now!" he joked, for he had not long ago finished healing her in nearly that same spot. he smiled when she mentioned she was kind of hungry. So was he, after all. "I'm down." he agreed, "I could do with some good eats right now." He was certainly not insinuating that she treat him to it, unless taking him there was considered 'treating'. if anything, he was already trying to remember how much money he had, as chances were he'd end up paying for her out of the goodness of his heart or something cheesy like that. "although speaking of clothing..." he added, rubbing his shoulder briefly, "if we're going out on the town, I guess I shouldn't stop you from getting dressed this time." he chuckled, pushing the washroom door open for her again to let her go back in. Similarly, and perhaps for added effect, he put one of his hands over his eyes.

Minali Otoyome	Minali nods, but she turns away from the washroom, moving over to the bed. Laying her machine down carefully, she then turns giving Akhet a warning look, though a soft one. "Ah got m'eyes on you," She told him as she walked past, pointing to her own eyes, then at him, mock-threatening. This time, unable to deadpan, a smile slowly pulled at her lips before she disappeared behind the door, locking it behind her, once again. It didn't take her long at all, to emerge; she had left off her protective gloves and decorative armbands, but her shirt was now buttoned and her leather stomach protector was strapped into place. "Ah'm all set," She informed him, pulling her goggles back up, to use as a hairband. Now that her curls were brushed back, they were slightly less wild.

Akhet Sumatra Tallarico	He followed her to the bed, only to gently pat the machine once she had put it down. "I'll make sure she stays safe." he chuckled, referring to it as the 'she' in question, sitting on the bed next to it as she disappeared into the washroom. He looked it over for the few moments while she was getting dressed, putting the wraps back on his hands as well. It definitely interested him, for while he had seen architects and builders and designers before, they were unique, and this was no exception. He sat up once he heard the door open, and sure enough, as promised, there was the Quake-Fist, sitting right where she had left it. "After you then," he smiled as he headed for the door, slipping his boots back on as he reached the door and opened it, producing a key to lock it until their safe return.

Minali Otoyome	Her eyes had brightened, seeing Akhet sitting next to her invention, keeping it safe. When he moved to the door, she grabbed her boots as well, pulling them on and tugging the laces tight without ceremony, following his lead out the door. "Y'like komodo chicken curry?" Minali asked him, taking a few steps backward toward the street, watching him lock the door to his rented room, "Th'place Ah know makes it like in th'Earth Kingdoms... It's m'favorite." Minali certainly looked more like an Earth Kingdom girl, rather than a woman of the Fire Nation. Her build, for one, was not slim and dainty; nor was her skin pale and fair - she had freckles, as well as spots where she must have been burned.

Akhet Sumatra Tallarico	he closed the door behind them, locking it to make sure no one intruded, although did not start walking in a particular direction because he did not know where they were going. "if I don't, I've certainly had stuff like it." he indicated. Never really one to be picky (and being male to boot) Akhet generally ate whatever was in front of him. "you been to the Earth Kingdom much?" he asked curiously as he followed her. He certainly noticed that her build was more Earth Kingdom-y than Fire Nation-y, but he didn't mind that at all. He hadn't noticed that she had freckles until he had gotten really close to her face earlier. to him that was just bonus points of cuteness. Akhet on the other hand, despite most of his body being covered with (light and breezy) clothing, had a Water Tribe build: Solid physique; slightly rugged appearance with thick, messy brown hair and electric blue eyes; and a slight hunch to his posture, perhaps from being used to carrying large loads on his back such as a ship's cargo or a hunting prize. He also noticed her burn scars, wondering to himself if he might have aw ay of lessening their prominence or something, but he did not say anything. he was inclined to want to see if he could reduce the redness on those, but he would ask at a later time.

Minali Otoyome	Minali nodded, at his question, still walking backward, so that she can speak with him; somehow, she still knows where she's going. "Couple 'a times, t'meet m'Ma's family. Ain't ever met m'Dad's folks in Ba Sing Se, but 'e never talked about 'em much, either." That was the extent of the information she offered - unlike with her machinery, she didn't often say more than what was required, when a question was presented. Leading him further away from his room, as well as from the area her shop was in, Minali turned down a couple of the main streets, occasionally glancing behind her, to make sure that she didn't run into anyone. Most people moved when they saw her coming, as if used to it, somehow. This part of the city was mostly shops and food, with a couple of other businesses thrown in. An open-air blacksmith was particularly prominent, and the man at the bellows waved at the young woman as she passed by. After returning the wave, Minali regarded Akhet once again. "Yer from th'Water Tribes," came her statement, "Ah don't know which one, though... Ain't ever able t'tell th'difference. Whatcha doin' this far outta t'ocean?" It wasn't meant to be offensive, or any kind of slur against waterbenders; she was merely curious.

Akhet Sumatra Tallarico	Akhet nodded. "ah... it's nice place in my opinion as well." He had been to various parts of the Earth Kingdom, so he knew what she meant. He was mostly just wondering if she had connections there or not, simply out of curiosity. He did not talk about his own family much either, and so could not blame her for only saying what needed to be said. Akhet's behavior in this regard though was somewhat odd, as other than their shady reputations, their family bonds were fairly strong, especially to his mother and sister. He was admittedly surprised as she continued to walk backwards, although that didn't bother him, as he was checking out her cute face and a few stray curls that bounced with her steps. Those damn curls would be the death of him. xD "Southern," he answered her question about which tribe. "and aye... there isn't much of a difference...we've all got that waterbender build. I think the biggest difference is that the Southern Water Tribes tend to have slightly more "rugged good looks." before she could roll her eyes at his statement, he continued though. "And those are the words of tourists visiting. I wasn't clever enough to make that one up." he chuckled, still following her.

Minali Otoyome	His quick explanation didn't keep her from rolling her eyes, but it was more in good humor, than from exasperation. "Ah'm sure," She grinned, before finally spinning around to walk normally, turning down another street, "S'too bad y'don't think yer handsome, then~." When Minali stopped, it was in front of a small restaurant with red awnings over a couple tables. There was no need to tell Akhet that this was the place; the smell of the good Earth Kingdom food was detectable from the other side of the street and down the road. "M'starvin'," was all she said before cheerfully striding inside, her curls bouncing with each step.

Akhet Sumatra Tallarico	he chuckled. "I don't think I'm handsome?" he posed it as a question, for he never said that, (because he didn't think it was true in the slightest). He was confident of his appearance, and like most men, fully believed that he looked good. Luckily, unlike many, he could actually back himself up on that one. "Even if that were the case, it almost seems like you would beg to differ." he teased. However, he casually trailed off without adding more to his statement, deciding to let her react (or not to) as she saw fit. When they reached the place, Akhet took a big whiff of the surrounding air, taking in the alluring aromas. "That makes two of us." he agreed, following her inside, very clearly eying those bouncing curls as he followed behind her.

Minali Otoyome	"Ah would?" She looks over her shoulder, one brow raised, the smile still evident. Somehow, Minali didn't realize that she was flirting with him; she was fairly clueless in that department, despite her knowledge of mechanics. With that, she had reached the counter, bouncing on the balls of her feet, looking up at the menu. Though she always ordered the same thing, she was curious as to what Akhet would order. "Ah'd recommend somethin', but all've it's pretty good," She informed him with a bright smile.

Akhet Sumatra Tallarico	"seems like it." he winked at her. he did not press the subject further, deciding to either let her figure it out, or let her guess some more. For now, it was time for some good eats. "hmm..." he scanned the menu as well, although ultimately was thinking that komodo-chicken curry sounded good enough for him. with this decision in mind, he glanced at her. "Ready when you are." he said with a smile.

Minali Otoyome	Signalling to the chef, Minali called out her order; predictably komodo chicken curry. Once her companion had ordered, as well, she moved over to the end of the counter to wait, hopping up to sit on a bar stool. Legs swinging gently, she spun on her seat, looking up at Akhet - who was now quite a bit taller than her, since she was sitting. "Y'never answered; whatcha doin' so far from yer Tribe? Just sight-seein'?" As she had never been too far from home, herself (except for visiting relatives once a year), Minali was interested.

Akhet Sumatra Tallarico	He hopped up on a stool next to her, as there was no point in coming to a place together just for them to part ways so unceremoniously. his eyes briefly darted to her swinging legs and then back to her face as he swung his own legs in a lazier fashion. "Sight-seeing might be part of it." he nodded at her question, "another reason is simply to learn about whatever things there are here that take my fancy. knowledge comes in many forms, and I, like my mother, am simply craving it." "It's quite beautiful too." he added, "for several reasons. I like it." Whether or not this was a subtle compliment of her appearance remained to be seen, as Akhet did not elaborate. He had not been to this part of town before, but like his mother and siblings, he travelled a lot.

Minali Otoyome	Her eyes moved to the back of the restaurant, where the food was being prepared. Watching the chef for a moment or two, she seemed to be thinking, brows furrowed just slightly. Because of the nature of curry, it would take a little while for their food to cook down, and then arrive for them to eat, so she had plenty of time (providing that Akhet didn't try to ask something). "Y'fixin' t'leave soon, then?" Minali asks, tilting her head to the side, "Or did'ya find somethin' interestin' enough t'stick around for?" Her legs stilled, for a moment, waiting for his answer. Nothing in this town seemed interesting enough, to her, to warrant staying very long. She wasn't an outsider, though, so she figured that it would be best to just ask.

Akhet Sumatra Tallarico	He glanced in her direction for a moment, wondering what she was looking at before glancing back at her. "I've found a few interesting things," he replied in honesty, "and it's not like I have a schedule or anything, so I could stay or leave whenever I wanted. However... recent... curiosities... have convinced me to stick around a bit. First I ran into a blind noblewoman who used her firebending to 'see', and then I catch a thief after a sabotage attempt? exciting stuff, let me tell you." He purposely left out that he was interested in her inventions, because he did not want her to start rambling off right before they started eating, because he did not want to be rude, but he also did not want his food to get cold while he listened, because he wanted to listen attentively.

Minali Otoyome	Turning back to look at Akhet, Minali's gaze flicked between his features - eyes, mouth, hair, neck, shoulders, eyes again. It was almost like she was looking for something. "Well," She finally began, "If ya like, yer welcome at m'shop. Ah'd like t'read up on waterhealin'... Was hopin' Ah could ask ya fer help, if Ah had any questions." Reaching up to brush her hair back - which was completely unnecessary, with her hair held back by goggles - she turned away once again, leaning with her arms resting on the counter. Her cheerfulness, from before, was now replaced with quiet thought.

Akhet Sumatra Tallarico	Anyone else and he would have responded with a simple "sure. I've got nothing better going on", although he figured that with her, she might take that the wrong way as if he was just trying to impress her. He had already felt like he had left that impression a few times and was working on correcting that. "looks like I've got a few plans for my evening then." he grinned at her. "or week... or however long. I'm game." And he was. It was not just to impress her either, although that might have been an added bonus. He was curious about seeing the interior of this shop anyways, as well as seeing what else she built. he shook his head rapidly after she turned away into her pondering thought, and let some of his bangs cover his face. he tucked his ears and the golden hoops attached to them, back underneath his wild brown mane.

Minali Otoyome	Both his answer and the accompanying grin had Minali smiling once again. Her dangling legs swung gently, though not in tandem, betraying another sign of her renewed happiness. "Ah'm gonna try t'read as much as Ah can, tonight - if y'wanna come by in th'afternoon, tomorrow?" She ends on a questioning tone, peering over at him. In the nearby kitchen, it seemed that several bowls of curry were being filled to the brim; their lunch would be out in front of them very soon. The spicy aroma of the dish carried through the entire restaurant, actually making Minali's stomach growl.

Akhet Sumatra Tallarico	he couldn't help but grin himself at her reaction, which clearly betrayed that she was a happy girl right now. "Where are you going to read it up?" he asked, honestly curious, as he was not sure if the Fire Nation had such repositories of information on water tribe techniques so readily available. To say it was impossible would be overstretching, but it made Akhet wonder. He himself had some scrolls on healing techniques that were in his first aid bag, as he was not a perfect healer yet, and so sometimes sat down to study with them as well. "sounds like a plan." he said with his light chuckle. He would probably be up late and so afternoon would be around when he woke up anyways. Granted, he also did not plan on simply parting ways after this little outing. No, that would not be very chivalrous of him. Besides, they had to go back to his room at least once to get her Quake Fist unless she forgot about it--in the which case he would simply remind her--but he doubted she'd let that slip. the aroma of curry soon filled the air, and Akhet licked his lips subtly. He was ready to eat.

Minali Otoyome	"Oh," It seemed that his question had suddenly made her wonder about that, as well, "Ah don't know. Usually, Ah find books fer mechanics fair easy, but m'not sure about healin'..." Her shoulders slumped just slightly, "Ah guess... y'said that knowin' th'body was important, yeah? Maybe Ah could find a few books fer that?" Minali looked up at Akhet with hopeful eyes, as if he'd know what books were available or not. When their food was placed before them, Minali took her spoon, but rather than jump right in, she moved the curry and rice along in the bowl, making a well in the middle of it, with all of the food spread along the sides. The billowing steam from the bowl indicated its heat, but the spice of the dish was not unbearably hot.

Akhet Sumatra Tallarico	he nodded at her with something of a smile. "I cannot say that I know where to get them in the Fire Nation so easily, but I myself have a small handful of 'em myself that I carry with me... you know, for study material." He had never said that he was a master healer, and there were certainly tricks and tips out there that even he could take count for. He as not exactly sure that he could simply part with them, but if or when he was to swing by her place, he would certainly bring them. Either that, or they would work something out. he tried not to think too far ahead on it. as their food arrived, Akhet tested the heat of his own, sort of poking, prodding, and blowing on it a little before digging in. He did not have the resilience to spicy food the way many Fire Nationers did, but he could handle it without become red-faced and downing a gallon or water or something. after a few bites, he nodded in approval to indicate that he liked what he was eating.

Minali Otoyome	At that point, Minali began eating, as well; her little trick seemed to have cooled all of her curry, even what was at the bottom. After a moment, she offered Akhet a thumbs up, indicating her own approval of the meal. Between bites, she mentioned, "Ah'd like t'read 'em... if ya wouldn't mind. Y'don't - y'know - gotta give 'em t'me, or anything; just t'borrow." She definitely wouldn't try to take them from him, but it was a subject she'd like to learn about; if he didn't let her borrow them, she'd be sad... and then she'd have to try and find the information elsewhere; maybe even in the Water Tribes, themselves.

Akhet Sumatra Tallarico	He did have a certain resilience to food that was hot in terms of temperature, since most water tribe food was cooked that way as if to combat the frigid climate of the regions. It was not all cool, but there were some bites that were hot, others that were not as hot. he seemed content with it either way. "I could probably loan them to you then or something." he nodded, "although if I did, I might end up swinging by a little earlier. Admittedly, these are not the basic texts, after all, and so a few things might need explaining." It would not be like a foreign language to her, but having long since mastered the basics behind healing, he did not need to carry those around with him. the ones he did have did still explain some of the core concepts that were always rehashed regardless of skill level, but he would feel bad to give her a secret only for her to need a metaphorical key. He would see how she responded to this, for ultimately, he was willing to lend them to her.

Minali Otoyome	"Th'time don't bother me," Minali assured him, "M'usually up real early, on m'own; more've a mornin' person." Her large portion of curry was already halfway gone - she was still eating, but her pace had slowed considerably. "If ya come by fer breakfast, Ah could feed ya fer th'day," She offered, "M'not an amazin' cook, but eggs're easy." Her legs were still swinging under the table, and her smile still soft and carefree. While she wasn't tired, by any stretch, today had confronted her with a new host of emotions and situations - things she hadn't dealt with in a long time, being on her own. Minali wasn't sure if she liked all of it, but certain parts of today made everything worth it; soon, she'd be designing another psuedo-bending device! That, especially, had her excited.
