Varsha Zere Zakau	Other than a small smirk at noticing his little cringe, Varsha acted perfectly normal. she could give this arrogant prettyboy the beating of a lifetime and probably crawl out unscathed. this amused her, only because he was so damn cocky about it. once they reached the teahouse, Varsha sat down on the cushioned seat across from him, crouching down and spreading her dress over her legs as she crossed them, showing no leg except perhaps a sliver of ankle near her feet as she sat. "Varsha." she replied with her name. "Lady Varsha Zere, of the Noble House Zakau, of Shu Jing." That was her full title, anyways, 'Zere' being a middle name. She just preferred being called Varsha, or 'Sensei Varsha' if she was in front of a class. "and you are...?" even if she had heard his name, she had forgotten it or not cared enough about it, but she figured that it'd at least be worth the politeness--something that was sort of ingrained in her at this point now.

Akira Shirogane II	Drawing himself up to his full (seated) height, Akira allowed his chest to puff out just slightly in what he thought was a regal posture. "My name is Akira Shirogane, the second, m'lady," He offered, "Of the now aforementioned house of Shirogane. I am pleased to formally make your acquaintance." At least, now, he seemed comfortable in the role he was playing; spoiled rich kid. Some small comfort. While he was not openly doing so, the young man was inspecting the woman across from him, now that she was not throwing punches at his face. While not life-shattering, just yet, the fact that she'd so easily knocked him on his ass was... troubling, to him.

Varsha Zere Zakau	Varsha resisted rolling her eyes at his puffed up posture, but she definitely did so mentally. For the most part, shew as seated straightly and somewhat regally herself, although hers was not forced or dramatized. She simply knew the ins and outs of etiquette, and had been heavily disciplined and refined in her youth. she did not regret it for a moment. "a pleasure to meet you then." she said politely, although was mostly just saying that out of courtesy. With the way she was seated, a few prominent features were noticeable. For one, even with her dress concealing most of her muscle tone, she did have broad, athletic shoulders. her hair was long enough that it almost touched the floor when she was sitting down like this, and her legs were hidden under that vast, elegant skirt that was spread all around her to protect her modesty. She had on a pair of golden hoop earrings and a few small necklaces,and the only makeup she had on was some dark red over her eyelids. So, while she was not overly extravagant, she was definitely very easy on the eyes. "So do you train at all?" she asked, mostly wondering if there was somewhere that he was receiving his poor skills. Varsha might have wanted to give such a person a talking to unless it was just Akira's shoddy performance. That was why she had to ask.

Akira Shirogane II	"Oh yes," Akira answered quickly, thankful that the conversation was steering toward something that he could speak of so easily, "Since I was a child, I have been instructed by both a master swordsman and a master firebender. Even now that I have bested them both, they continue to oversee my practice, on occasion." The strange thing to him, was that Varsha certainly looked like a normal lady of the court, and she certainly seemed to act like a normal lady of the court - now that the fighting was over - but that she clearly was not a normal lady of the court. All his life, things had never been more than what they first appeared to be. Akira did not know what to make of it.

Varsha Zere Zakau	Varsha's eyes widened with something akin to disbelief. "you... bested them...? they... must not have been very good, were they?" she shook her head. he was a terrible fighter, and so to Varsha things were just not adding up. "What are their names?" she asked curiously. "I might have to speak with them... maybe learn a thing or two from them." this last part was a lie. she wanted to speak to them to see if they were really masters, or if Akira was just a terrible student. Varsha assumed the latter. Varsha's fighting skills and her cunning mind were the secrets behind the beautiful and proper lady that most people saw. She often times even trained in dresses and heels so that she would get the hang of fighting in them. After all, should the need to defend herself ever arise, her assailant wouldn't wait for Varsha to go change her clothes before striking. she sipped her tea calmly. "I was taught by a master as well." she replied, "they taught me the importance of discipline alongside my other training." this was not necessarily to call him out, but it was intended to invoke a reaction.

Akira Shirogane II	"Discipline is very important," The young man agreed, taking a sip of his own tea, still mulling over the rest of what she had said, the slight distraction showing in his disconnected words, "Strict training schedules, every day. Exercise. I am a great believer in discipline." The last was said with his usual grin across the table. Once Akira had spoken, he hummed, swirling the tea in the small porcelain cup in his hand. "Should you wish to meet the masters, I may be able to arrange it," he offered.

Varsha Zere Zakau	"Ah, I..." she began, ready to rebuke it, "I, um... it's good to see you agree with me then..." she kinda felt at a loss as to what to say. How did she know that he was not just leading her along into thinking that he was all show and no go? maybe he was just a master who was playing stupid. She had seen people do that before. She herself often times feigned helplessness to draw her enemies to her. After all, who would think that the tall, pretty, rich girl in the dress and heels would have any type of combat skills? Varsha enjoyed proving that one wrong. Varsha took a sip of her own tea, keeping her calm. "I might just have to do that..." she considered his offer, "I'll check in with them sometimes and see if we can line up our schedules." she set her cup back down and looked at him. "in the meantime... do you train much?" it was a curious question that could be taken at face value.

Akira Shirogane II	"Every day!" Akira proclaimed with a bright smile, "With all of the various disciplines... swordfighting, firebending, even other exercise." He seemed proud enough, of what he did; if it was a ruse, it was a very good one. "If you might be interested in joining me, I do run every morning, at my estate," It was offered without any suggestiveness, currently. Setting his teacup down, he leaned slightly on the table, giving a smile, "Perhaps, through training together, we might help one another?" Again, without sleaze, but a bit pretentiously.

Varsha Zere Zakau	If Varsha was like some people, the very thought of training with someone like this would have offended her. However, maybe there was hope for this buffoon. she enjoyed teaching enough that she was actually considering his offer in hopes that she might be able to drill a thing or two into his head. "what time?" she asked in response to his question about running. She had her own morning routines that she usually followed, and so she was usually up early unless she had been up late the previous night. she half expected that her accepting of his offer would trigger visions of her in short shorts and a crop top or something, but Varsha dismissed that easily enough. "perhaps indeed." Varsha nodded. "I like the idea. Where and when do you train?" She was being honest. maybe it was her OCD kicking in, but training and teaching and learning were among her favorite things of life. Well, and pretty clothes, but that was beside the point.

Akira Shirogane II	His grin was bright, when she apparently accepted his offer, and was no longer intent on kicking his ass. "Seven o'clock in the morning, is when I usually begin, m'lady Varsha," Akira answered, "Usually at my estate, though, if you like, we could meet in the same location as today? That way, we will both know where to go." Akira was not, in any way, altering his workout time to impress, and so would be there bright eyed and bushy tailed.

Varsha Zere Zakau	Varsha smiled. "alright then. I'll be there... or rather, I'll be there at 6:30 sharp." if the training started at 7, she'd need to be early to account for travelling, and Varsha was punctual and professional. She didn't teach any morning classes that day anyways, so her mornings were free, which for her usually meant training or studying. "Thank you for the tea, by the way." she added, finishing her cup. Arrogant prick or not, he had done her a kind deed, and Varsha, being raised on politeness and mannerisms, knew to be grateful.

Akira Shirogane II	"You are most welcome, m'lady," Akira offered, almost gallantly, bowing his head slightly, "The pleasure was mine, for the fine company." Then, of course, came that grin, "You are as lovely in conversation as you are in appearance, Lady Varsha." It was borderline, now. Then, as if remembering, he asks, "Would you care for anything else? Something to eat, perhaps?" Akira was trained to only eat if the rest of the table was dining, but he could definitely eat now, should Varsha ask.

Varsha Zere Zakau	"okay, no need to go overboard now," Varsha nodded. she couldn't tell of Akira was trying to flatter her on purpose, if he was trying to piss her off, or if he genuinely thought that he was being sincere. this is what bugged her. "What do they serve here?" she asked, "I thought it was just a tea shop?" She had not paid much attention, but she wouldn't say no if he was offering. She could take advantage of an arrogant prick fairly easily enough. Normally, she wouldn't, but he was a special case.

Akira Shirogane II	"A tea shop without tea cakes is a sad one, indeed," Akira mentioned, signalling for a waiter to approach their table, "Sandwiches, cakes, hors d'oeuvres... none a full meal in their own right, but each good for taking the edge of hunger off one's stomach." He would not make a good teacher, as his explanations reached full pretentiousness often. Menus were brought to their table, but he only gave a perfunctory glance before placing it down against the table top.

I guess I could do with a tea-cake or two." an that was what she requested as the waiter approached them and she had spent a moment scanning the menu. she could tell that he would not make a very good teacher, but at the same time, was still honestly a bit grateful for the little pleasantries After she had made her order, she went back to putting her hands into her lap.

Akira Shirogane II	"Perhaps," Akira offered, when the waiter had set several plates of small bite-sized snacks down upon the table and disappeared, "After a few days of training, you could try your luck at fighting me for real." Picking up something small, he popped it into his mouth, but thankfully finished it before adding, "When the circumstances are proper." Whatever he meant by that last quip was anyone's guess.

Varsha Zere Zakau	Varsha was not sure if she was supposed to be insulted or if she was supposed to laugh. Instead, she came up with a sharp-tongued quip of her own. "I would have done so this time... but I didn't want to hurt you, or worse, get my pretty dress all roughed up and dirty... but if you set a time and a place for our next match, I'll be sure to be there promptly and dressed properly next time." all of this was said with a calm tone as she politely ate, as if it was second nature to her. It sort of was. Varsha had been forged and refined a great deal, and she was quite pleased with the results.

Akira Shirogane II	Surprisingly, the quip about 'dirtying her dress' had Akira completely at ease, all of a sudden, despite any mention of actually hurting him. "We couldn't have you dirty such a lovely gown," He agreed, completely seriously, before helping himself to a tiny puff pastry, "That would never do." This side of Varsha was playing far more toward what he was used to - young ladies who spoke around what they really meant, and cared more for their clothes than much of anything else. This, he could deal with. This was something that he knew, all too well.

Varsha Zere Zakau	The taller firebender giggled at his remark, although was also willing to take it a step further. "careful now. otherwise I might just shed the gown so I can lay a whoop-down." It was rare that she ever had to do such a thing, but there had been a time or two when she had done so to prove a point. She calmly sipped her tea, being dead serious about that one. "I -am- a martial artist, after all... there's more than just talk behind that title" She just wanted to give him a fair warning that she did not like being condescended, but at the same time, she was polite and respectful enough to at least give plenty of warning beforehand.

Akira Shirogane II	"Of course," Akira agreed easily, with a slight air of simply humoring his beautiful companion, "I would never doubt such a thing." Many of the girls he had known in the highest of social circles had claimed similar things... Though their grip of martial arts typically started and ended at stretches and simple form techniques. He had not responded to the bit about removing clothes, for much the same reason. It wasn't a common method of flirting among the higher class women, but it wasn't unheard of either, and Akira had definitely been fed similar lines before. Even if he, himself, was not a desirable husband, his family's wealth and social standing was more than enough to have ladies flocking to his side (perhaps with the urging of their parents behind them). Taking another sip of tea, Akira settled a little further into his seat, leaving himself completely open and unprotected.

If she had been lying, that would be one thing, but she was telling the complete truth about herself, and so it irked her for her to think that he did not believe her. "you aren't buying a word I'm saying, are you?" she shook her head, "do you want me to prove it?" this did not necessarily guarantee a beatdown, for she did not have to demonstrate it on him. however, shew as very skilled, to the point where she had her own dojo and was not just a martial artist herself, but was also a teacher of it. Thus, it had been a pretty large part of her life.

Akira Shirogane II	Akira's eyes widened, almost comically, and he straightened quickly in his seat, placing his hand over his heart in a gesture of sincerity. "My lady!" He exclaimed in a wounded voice, though not loud enough to draw attention to them (dat social breeding), "I would never, ever even insinuate that your words were anything but the purest truth!" It probably sounded like he was making fun of her, especially with the words he chose to use. Akira wasn't the brightest young man in the city - or even on the block. Young heiresses typically catered to him regardless of what he actually said, so of course he'd never been called out on his shit before.

Varsha Zere Zakau	It still caused Varsha to narrow her eyes suspiciously. "I've got my eye on you," she warned, "I am not one who takes well to being lied to, after all." In Varsha's defense, shew as a fairly honest woman, often brutally so. Perhaps the difference was that while Varsha was dressed very fancily, she was not an heiress; just the daughter of a well-off family that she too contributed to. She was also a very well-versed and well-respected martial arts teacher, and while she was not one to flaunt a sense of entitlement, she expected to be treated as such rather than as a posh, helpless little girl, simply because she dressed sophisticatedly from time to time.

Akira Shirogane II	The difference between Varsha and a young female heiress would definitely be lost on Akira, especially with her dressed up in silks. Clothes were, of course, very important to the upper rings of society - the society he was part of, anyway - and so they usually told, with a simple glance, just where one fit into that strange little dance. Even when he looked at his most casual, the fabrics of Akira's clothes set him apart from the working class, or a young soldier. As it was, there was a "soldier's vogue" fashion cycling around with the wealthy young men, at the moment. Varsha's straight forward speech, on the other hand, was something definitely not encountered in the same circles. Perhaps that was why Akira was unable to take what she said at face value, and continued to twist each phrase in the same way that he had to twist everyone else's words - just in order to make sense of them. And thus, he sat there with a smile, unsure of what exactly to say now. To busy himself, he took another sip of the cooling tea in his hand, waiting for Varsha to continue, to fill the silence as (again) those socialite women tended to do.

Varsha Zere Zakau	Just because Varsha fell out of the young female heiress mold did not, however, mean that she was without her manners and pleasantries. honestly, if she wanted to, she could pull off the act of being one of those pompous helpless little noble ladies just like Akira thought she was--or had originally thought she was. Instead, she quietly sipped her tea, returning to being the dainty, well-mannered girl she was used to being. It was not like she led a double-life or anything. Those that knew her well knew that she was a nobleman's daughter, but also that she was an esteemed and respected martial arts teacher and master. Really, that was all the respect Varsha was asking for--the kind that she had earned.
