| [OOC--I got permission from Kei to do this. :B] Xilingshi Nailah Zoraki
| Ambush... certainly Xilingshi was used to that term, and the harsh truth that it conveyed. It reminded her of those fights against the Fire Nation during the War of Tipped Scales. In fine, a few measley pirates were not about to do ion the great and legendary Xilingshi Nailah Zoraki. No, 34 years of living on this rock had taught her a few things, and while some of the pirates might have been benders, none of them were a match for Xilingshi. Of them and of her own crew, she was the only airbender, and would use that to her advantage.
Initially, she began trying to bark orders at the people around her, but naturally, no one listened to her since she did not have any authority over them, so she left them to their own devices. She still didn't have any reason to care about any of them. They were not her friends; they were not her soldiers, or even airbenders. She was not obligated to protect them, and so instead, she went off for herself.
Twirling her staff, she fended off a few pirates before taking to the skies. Two of the crewmates went to try and board two of the pirate ships, and so Xilingshi aimed for the 3rd one. However, instead of trying to board it, she aimed a precise string of compressed air towards the side of the hull towards teh water line. Taking a deep breath, she swung her arm from her glider to launch this air-based projectile. For a moment nothing happened, but as Xilingshi unclenched her fist, the compressed air exploded, blowing a hole in the side of the boat, whicih rapidly began to fill with water. True to the nature of a signature Tekina-Kaze "bombing raid", Xilingshi did a somersault midair and landed back on the deck of her own ship, indifferent to anyone else's reactions. She was not here to show off; she was here to get things done... and the battle was far form over.

It seemed that everyone reacted to the ambush of the pirates quite well. Tatsu had prevented the the Fire Benders from destroying the Kei’s ship and Ahyla had taken out the archers from the boat directly ahead before anyone was sniped by an arrow. Chouhi and Cyrad had jumped onto the ice and each went to a pirate ship that were on the left and right side of Kei’s ship and went to go deal with the threats of the oncoming pirates. Xilingshi displayed an impressive amount of Air Bending skill and sunk the ship that was directly in front of Kei’s ship. Even though it seemed that several of the people who were accompanying Kei on his expedition were already injured, Kei wasn’t worried and believed that Jurishe should be able to restore them to full health without much challenge.
“Leave at least one of the boats floating!” Kei shouted to everyone, but was mostly directed toward Xilingshi, “We might need it if our boat takes too much damage!” Xilingshi was high up in the sky, so he could only hope she heard him.
Kei decided he would go aid Chouhi as she shouted something that sounded like “Run”. Kei didn’t know what she meant by “Run”, but he hoped she wasn’t trying to sacrifice herself for Kei and Company before they even reached Ezchift.
Kei jumped over the side of the ship onto the ice toward Chouhi and drew his massive two handed sword off his back and proceeded to run toward the ship Chouhi was about to board. Kei would leave the pirates who managed to make it past Cyrad and were about to board his ship to either Tatsu, Ahyla, or Jurishe. Cyrad was probably going to take care of the other ship he was headed toward, but Kei was positive someone body was probably going to help him deal with the pirates on the other ship. As for Xilingshi, Kei hoped she wouldn’t destroy a pirate ship her “comrades” had boarded.
Charging the pirate ship with Chouhi, a couple of Water Benders from atop the deck of the pirate ship was launching ice spikes toward the both of them. Kei dodged and blocked all of the ice spikes headed toward him. Quickly closing the distance, Kei took cover directly against the outer hull of the pirate ship and was out of sight of the water benders. One of the water benders foolishly looked over the side of the ship and Kei threw a weighted wire toward the water bender. The wire wrapped around the neck of the water bender and Kei pulled the wire pulling the water bender over board. Kei then promptly knocked out the water bender with the flat of his massive blade. Kei hoped Chouhi had dealt with the other water bender in that time and whatever pirates were still in the ship.

| Chouhi
| Chouhi had glanced behind herself when she heard a thud on the ice that connected the ships. It was Kei, carrying a massive sword that could eat her own small blade for a snack. She didn't have time to stare though, as she was already half way up the hull to reach the deck. She froze in place when a spike of ice zoomed past less than an inch from her face. A small cut formed on her cheek, but Chouhi didn't have time to spare as another spike was shot, one that was more accurate. She jumped to her left, grabbing onto anything that she could reach. The spikes continued to move, but only one water bender was aiming for her.
Letting out an annoyed sigh at the unfair game of dodge-ice she was playing, Chouhi drew her sword and stabbed it into the wooden hull at the angle from which the spikes were being shot. Her sword wasn't exactly going to last continuously taking the hits, however Chouhi was lucky enough when a wire shot up from the ground, most probably Kei's, and latched onto the other water bender. She timed the fall of the benders body in order to time her own victory. As the bender fell just in front of the other's view, Chouhi grabbed her sword out of the hull and launched herself up, quickly jumping onto the deck and running towards the bender who was momentarily unsure of what to do. By the time the bender had thrown their hands up to throw another spike, Chouhi had removed its head from the rest of its body. It wasn't something she'd usually do, but that water bender had annoyed her completely. Glancing around the empty deck, Chouhi turned around and looked down the deck to help Kei make his way up.
"It's all clear up here, now," she called.

| First thing Cyrad did was take his fingers back from the corpse, they were grossly covered in the man's blood and bits but Cyrad had been killing so long he pushed the thought away easily. Then he quickly pulled some cloth from one of his pockets and bound the wound on his leg and was off to the boat in front of him. He bended his stone arm from the elbow down into a thin circular shield, though it was thick enough to block ice shards. As Cyrad got close to the side of the boat he she sheathed his sword and flung his shield like a disk into the side of the boat. He climbed up onto the shield that stuck out, not an easy feat with one arm, then went over the side of the boat.
A bender and a pirate stood on both sides of Cyrad so he had to land in a roll and tumble forward to avoid instant death. He bended his forearm back to him, reshaping it back into one in the air, then drew his sword and faced his four opponents. One pirate ran forward while the benders attacked him with wet whips, he managed to dodge the water but got a cut to his side yet he shared the pain with the pirate by parting the man with a few of his toes. Without stable footing he was also quickly parted with his life.
Outnumbered three to one Cyrad couldn't press the attack and was resorted to changing his arm into a stone shield again and hiding behind it as it was battered. He hoped he might get backup soon.

| (Ooc: posting from my phone so no character box.)
Once the archers were taken out, Ahlya darted for the ship on the starboard side. She bended her pieces of stone back together to create a small platform for her to stand on that she used to hover up to the enemy ship's deck. The blood from her ear was starting to drip onto her neck now, but she had no time to patch it up. She made it to the deck to find Cyrad surrounded by three waterbenders. Ahlya jumped off of her stone plate and bended it to give it a much sharper edge before she lodged it into the skull of one of the benders.
Ahlya only got a quick glance at Cyrad before having to confront the other waterbenders. Both his leg and his side seemed to be wounded. He looked to have managed a wrapping around his leg, but he hadn't yet gotten to taking care of the other wound. Thankfully, Ahlya's killing of one of the waterbenders distracted the other two taking their main focus away from Cyrad long enough for him to aid her in taking them out.
Ahlya quickly dodged a water whip to the face and bended her stone plate out of the dead bender's head to defend herself. She used it as a mini shield to protect from the water whips, but it was shrinking fast while chunk after chunk was removed. Ahlya pounded her foot onto the floor boards to raise the fallen rocks and used them against the waterbender in the same way she did to the archers. This time, however, she aimed for the eyes and nose to disorient one of the waterbenders. She nailed him in the eye eventually which distracted him long enough for him to drop his whips and for Ahlya to pull out her knife from her boot and stab him in the neck.

She had never been a warrior; Jurishe knew that, as did her companions, and that wasn't the role that she was meant to play in this story, either. She was, however, a healer and a waterbender. Now was not the time for healing... not until the fighting was all over and done with, and no one seemed to be in too dire straights either way. So that left her role as a waterbender - now was the time for bending.
The ship had been forcibly caught in the pirates' ice trap. Even if it had never been in this sort of combat situation, Jurishe did had plenty of experience freeing boats and kayaks from the ice floes, back home in the Southern Water Tribe. Taking a deep breath - trying to ignore the handful of pirates shouting and rushing across the ice toward them - she concentrated on the ice beneath and surrounding the deck, calling it to her control.
It began slowly, but soon the ice was melting at an alarming rate, causing the ship to tip and heave about as it settled. Any pirates which had been climbing up the sides would have been thrown about and likely met the chilled waters with a splash, while those who had not begun their ascent would be forced to retreat in order to stay on solid 'ground'. Now they would be easy pickings for the rest of Jurishe's companions, who would soon make their way back to their own vessel.

| Ahlya appeared to aid Cyrad and like a goddess of slaughter quickly killed to of the assailants attacking Cyrad, using her distraction Cyrad was able to take out the other with a quick sword thrust.
"Thanks Ahlya, you should go help the others, I think our boat might be trashed so I'm going to go below deck and make sure this one is clear. I'll be out to help you guys once I'm certain we're ok here."
Cyrad waited for Ahlya's response before running to the stairs that led below deck. He checked two rooms before he found someone, the only person he would find on the boat, the man was a chef and upon seeing Cyrad the chef charged bearing down on the earthbender with a mean cleaver. Cyrad rolled to the side but being in an enclosed space he didn't have room to use his sword so instead he used his hammer. The fight ended quickly, even wounded Cyrad easily overpowered the chef who clearly hadn't entered the battle for a reason. Cyrad cleaned off his hammer on the dead man's clothes before checking the rest of the boat then going back up topside to see how the rest were fairing.

The Expedition crew had swiftly dealt with the Pirates and after melting the ice around the Expedition ship, proceeded onward with their voyage. The minor injuries some had received during the exchange with the pirates were entirely healed by Jurishe’s water bending.
The crew had arrived at an outcropping of rocks in the middle of the ocean. The fact that rocks were located above water this far out at sea was puzzling enough, but it wasn’t all that was strange with the rocks. There were eight large rocks that were the size of Kei's boat evenly spaced out in a circle around another rock that was in the center of all of them. The rock in the center was several times larger than the ones on the outside. The distance from the rock on the inside to ones on the outside was about 100 yards. All of the rocks were bare and were simply gray boulders that protruded from the ocean.
Kei took the boat and sailed it close to the rock in the middle. Up close, it was clear the rock had no visible entrance.
“We are going to have to have a quick swim in order to enter the temple. The swim isn’t a bad one so each of you should be fine. Since we will get wet, take these, it will keep whatever gear you want dry to remain dry.” Kei handed everyone a couple of leather waterproof bags.
Kei himself had carried three bags, one had some of his clothes and equipment, the second had his food, and the third contained a couple dozen torches.
Kei stood at the edge of the ship facing the massive rock in the center. Doing his best not to appear embarrassed as he was standing in his boxers, Kei gave a quick speech to the crew members. “Upon entering the water, the Expedition into Ezchift begins. I don’t know what we will find down here or what dangers lurk, but if we stick together and do our best to aid each other, we WILL make it out safely. Remember that for now, we are all comrades and we should act as so.” Kei lastly said with a smile, “Follow me” and jumped into the ocean.
Kei swam to a hole in the side of the center rock 10 feet under the surface of the water. Kei didn’t look back but he assumed that the other Expedition members were following him. Kei entered the hole in the rock and then began to swim upward once he was in it. About 5 feet up, he hit air. It was dark and nothing could be seen, but Kei felt land in front of him and got on top of it. He removed one of the torches from the leather bag and lit it with a spark of electricity. The burning torch revealed a small cavern. Behind Kei was the pool of water that he had just emerged from and in front was a dark doorway. The cavern appeared man made, as the walls and corners of the room appeared smoothly cut. The air was damp and cool, and the sound of water dripping and crackling of fire from the torch echoed throughout the Cavern.
As Kei was waiting for everyone to emerge from the pool of water, he quickly put on all of his clothes and equipment. One by one, everyone was coming up the pool of water. When everyone was ready, Kei asked who was willing to carry a second torch and Jurishe kindly volunteered. Taking out a second torch from the bag, he lit it and handed it to Jurishe thanking her. The Expedition crew began to head for the doorway and upon nearing it, a staircase large enough for two people to walk shoulder to shoulder was seen proceeding downward. It was impossible to see the end of the staircase as darkness shrouded everything past 20 feet.
“This walk is a long one,” Kei warned everyone, “The staircase will take us straight to the bottom of the ocean.”
With that, Kei took a step forward and began his decent into darkness.

| Ahlya
|
Ahlya was glad to finally get out of the skirmish with the pirates, but she would have reconsidered that thought if she had known what was to come next. There was only one thing that Ahlya hated more than boats and that was swimming. So, naturally, their next mission was to swim down into unknown waters and hope that whatever it was it wasn't Kei leading them into some sort of trap. Still, she had to trust him. She didn't get any weird vibe like the ones she was getting from Tatsu and Chouhi.
Ahlya stuffed her pack and her boots into the leather bag Kei had offered her and tried to remind herself of what Kei said. It wasn't going to be bad; just a simple little swim. She could handle that, right? She couldn't help, though, the blood draining slightly from her face and her hands beginning to shake a bit. She crossed her arms to try to control the shaking. Kei wasn't making it any easier once he jumped on into the cold water below them and didn't come back up.
Truth be told, Ahlya couldn't swim. She never took the time to learn. While her brothers would play in a lake nearby Omashu, Ahlya was practicing her bending. She hated the water and nearly drowned the last time she was ever really swimming in it.
Closing her eyes, Ahlya took in a deep breath through her nose and out her mouth, repeating several times before she finally mustered up enough strength to bypass her fear of water for just a moment. She was the last to dive in and followed the pack down deep into the dark, salty water. Most of them were far better at swimming than her and made it under the rock before she was even half way down. She made it under the rock to see only black. Blind, Ahlya was beginning to panic until she saw a bit of orange up above her that she swam desperately towards. She broke the surface of the water and gasped for air with her heart beating loudly in her ears.
Up ahead was Kei with a torch in his hand lighting up the whole cavern. Ahlya swam towards the shore where he stood and took a few more deep breaths once she was on solid earth once again. She got up to brush off her minor panic attack, but she could still hear her heart pounding in her head for quite a few more minutes.

| Chouhi
| Ever since Jurishe had healed the cut on Chouhi's side, she had been poking at it. She had never been healed before and was used to having bloodied cuts and scabs all along her body.
When Kei had announced that they would be swimming (and she muffled her laugh at the sight of him in his underwear giving out information) and he had bags to keep their belongings dry. Chouhi accepted the bag she was offered and took off her dress, gloves, and boots, leaving her in her brown, strapless tank top and black spandex. She didn't feel any embarrassment from her body, seeing as the others had more important things to do than look at her. She stuffed her items into the leather bag and jumped in the water after Kei.
Chouhi wasn't new to water; she knew how to swim and all. However, she was not prepared for the water to be cold. She kicked vigorously in the water, quickly wanting to get out. Coming up a few seconds after Kei, she was surprised to be met with complete darkness. She began treading the water, beginning to worry that the cold was part of the "lurking evil" Kei had been talking about. She began praying to anyone she could think of to save her.
Her prayers were seemingly answered when an orange light flicked on a few feet in front of her. It illuminated the cavern she was in, revealing land. She climbed onto it quickly.
"That water is freaking cold!" Chouhi shouted to no one in particular as she dragged herself onto the land and stood. She pulled out her leather bag and put her dress back on and for the first time in her life regretted how little clothing she wore. She waited patiently for everyone else to emerge and walked with the group to the door, and after a small explanation from Kei, down the stairs. Chouhi fortunately kept her complaining to herself.

Being a waterbender, when the question of swimming came up, Jurishe had no reason to complain, or to panic. The cold would be no problem either - most of her Tribe was familiar with a good ice soak, and she was no exception. Waving away the bag Kei offered with a small smile and the simple explanation of "my bags are already water-proof", Jurishe made ready to dive.
While she did strip a little bit, it was mostly to get out of her coat and her boots, for the sake of mobility; once she was out of the water, a little bending out get every drop out of her clothes. Jurishe would offer to do the same for the others, of course, but the water-proof bags would be best for keeping any of their more delicate equipment dry and undamaged.
Just before she submerged, Jurishe stretched her muscles out a little bit and watched each of the others go. She would purposefully go last, just in case someone ended up getting into trouble. She thought she'd have to dive in to help Ahlya as it was, but when the earthbender finally submerged, Jurishe decided to give her a tiny bit of helpful current anyway (not enough to scare her, but enough to be a little bit of help). Only then did she make the underwater trip herself.
Once caught up with the group in the cavern, Jurishe dried herself completely and redressed. The offer to help with the drying off was made to the group, in the most clinical way that she was able to, as well. Then, it was a game of 'follow the leader into the dark abyss that happened to be underwater'. Fun times. Still, this was part of the story, and Jurishe wanted to do it.

The expedition crew continued descending the stairs for the next 8 hours. With the end of the stair case still nowhere in sight after this time, Kei decided they should rest for a while before moving again. Kei did his best to rest comfortably on the staircase, but lying down on a staircase was not the comfiest thing in the world. 7 hours later, the expedition crew was once again on the move. Two hours later into the journey, the stairs stopped and the expedition crew came across a single gray hallway. Written on the walls were many strange hieroglyphs. The air down here was damp and heavy as they were no doubt many miles below the surface of the ocean.
At the end of the hallway, the crew was led into a large room. The walls, floor, and ceiling were tiled with hexagonal tiles. In the center of each hexagon was a different symbol. Kei didn’t know what the symbols meant and doubted anyone else in the crew knew. The symbols were probably ancient and their meanings were most likely lost in time. On the side opposite of where everyone entered the hexagonal tiled room was a stone slab. The stone slab had a frame carved around it and on the frame were more symbols forming some unidentifiable language. Above the frame were 4 orbs embedded in the wall. A red orb with the universal symbol of fire on it, a blue orb with the universal symbol for water on it, a green orb with the universal symbol of earth on it, and a very pale blue orb with the universal symbol of air on it.
This room was as far as he and Ul had gotten when they first tried to enter Ezchift. The stone slab was actually a door blocking the entrance into Ezchift, but Kei and Ul could not open the door. It became apparent to them eventually that based on the orbs above the stone slab, the door would only open if a bender of each element was present in the room. As Kei and Ul couldn’t match these requirements, they were forced to leave.
Kei knew he would get through the door this time as the expedition crew met the requirements of having at least one fire bender, one earth bender, one air bender, and one water bender. Kei wasn’t disappointed and as the expedition crew entered the hexagonal tiled room, the orbs above the stone slab glowed and the room began to rumble. The stone slab began to sink creating a hole in the wall that led into Ezchift. Kei and company walked into the doorway that led into Ezchift.
The room was dark, but the torches in Kei and Jurishe’s hand illuminated their surroundings. It appeared as though they had entered what was once a grand hall. The room was two stories with the second story being a balcony that overlooked the first floor. There were doorways around the room that seemed to lead to other parts of the building. Despite whatever grand history it may have once had, the entire place was trashed. Junk and rubble littered the floor, the walls appeared cracked in many places, and behind them by the door way the expedition crew had just entered from where the stone slab was once at, Kei noticed that many human skeletons were laying there. It almost looked as if they died trying to escape this place...
It was at this moment when Kei saw a person hunched in the back corner of the room facing away from the expedition crew. Something about the person filled Kei with dread, but Kei decided to ignore it and called out to the person. “Hello?”
All of the sudden the person crouched in the corner bolted straight for Kei and when he had gotten closer, Kei saw that this figure wasn’t human. It was humanoid, but the creature had pale white, wrinkled skin. It was bald and had no hair and had pointed ears. The creature had no eyes and its open mouth revealed fangs. It had claws on its hand and wore no clothes and was completely naked. This sudden event nearly gave Kei a heart attack.
The creature moved with speed that was nearly inhuman and was immediately next to Kei. Kei tried to keep the creature back by slashing it across the chest with his dagger, but the creature didn’t seem to notice the pain and ran straight through the blade right into Kei knocking him onto the ground and landed on top of him. Kei kicked the creature off of him and the creature rolled back. When the creature got to its feet it released a loud shriek that echoed throughout the buildings.
From the many doorways around the room, other similar shrieks could be heard coming from no doubt other similar creatures. Each shriek was terrible and very dreadful. Kei didn’t know what these things were, but it was nothing he had seen before. Suddenly many other identical creatures began pouring in from all the other doorways into the Grand Hall charging straight for the expedition party. Kei didn’t count, but he knew there were at least a dozen creatures for each one of the the expedition crew members.

| Cyrad wasn't too happy about having to swim earlier, having a stone arm made such things difficult but once he entered the cavern filled with the others he knew it was worth it. Finally surrounded by earth Cyrad felt at ease, releasing tension that had been building throughout the entire boat trip. The cavern wasn't the warmest place in the world but Cyrad knew after a little while being dressed the chill would go away. Led by Kei the group started down a stairway, it should be noted that Cyrad never had to climb down such a set of stairs in his entire life and the memory was one he planned on sharing with his grandchildren, he spent hours just going down stairs one after the other with no end in sight. The thought of tripping and falling scared him, knowing that if you couldn't catch yourself it would mean certain death. Then they rested, Cyrad bended a platform of earth for himself to rest on and offered to do the same for anyone not trying to lay on steps like Kei, who looked very uncomfortable. When they started up again Cyrad wanted to cry and after what seemed like an eternity, though Cyrad was sure just a few more hours the group emerged into another room.
They entered a large group scaled with hexagonal tiles, Cyrad glanced at the symbols that covered the tiles but they meant as much sense as child scribbles. Attention was directed across from the entrance the group came in, there was a slab with more symbols on it but above the frame were four orbs colored and marked identifying each of the elements. The globes started to glow as the group entered the room and the slab lowered reveiling a doorway for the group to continue. The next room the group entered was huge, like a grand ballroom, complete with an upper level with balconies to look down around the main area and several doors that Cyrad guessed led to a thousand other places. The room was littered with junk and remnants of a culture long forgotten, though a large collection of human remains, more specifically bones, unsettled Cyrad.
So when Cyrad saw Kei look over and see a person Cyrad drew his blade, better ready than sorry. Kei called out to the person, though when it turned Cyrad knew it was more beast than man, pale skin, pointed ears, and claws told Cyrad that if this creature once had intelligent ancestors years in seclusion devolved it into a monster. With startling speed it attacked Kei before anyone could react, Kei was able to kick the creature off but once the beast landed it released a squeal that Cyrad knew would become part of nightmares. To his delight several more answered the monster. The group started to react, and Cyrad felt bad for the waterbenders but was glad that he was now surrounded by his element.
Dozens of similar monsters came pouring out of the doorways and Cyrad didn't waste any time, knowing that with the number advantage against them it was a race against time. He released a barrage of earth upon a chosen doorway, though the humaniods took the blows and would fall back for a moment it was like they were immune, immedietly getting back up and charging again. Not wanting to be surrounded Cyrad pushed earth up beneath him and shot across the room. Not near his allies he was able to use larger rocks and boulders completely crushing and killing some of the monsters. Though they weren't content to let him just swat their "family" so when they started to swarm him Cyrad switched to his sword and arm. Against so many feral enemies caution was useless so Cyrad swung blade and arm with fury, it wasn't his particular style and he felt several wounds start to accumulate across him. He bent a hill of earth around him, raising fifteen feet up and plateauing off into a six foot circle around him. It slowed the creatures and allowed Cyrad to kick their bodies off keeping his battle area clear. He had little time to aid his comrades but if he heard cries for help he would abandon his defensive hill in a second.

| [OOC--this thread moves so goddamn fast.] Xilingshi Nailah Zoraki
| It seemed that the battle was theirs, and that they had secured victory. Xilingshi soared high over the battlefield to secure their safety, and she shot at other pirates and any stragglers to ensure that her and her team made it to victory safely. Only after clearing the way around their own ship did Xili land back on deck, wordlessly twirling her glider and closing it up again. She was unhurt, having stayed airborne for most of the time, and the lack of any airbenders among the pirates meant that Xilingshi had dominated the skies just as she had during the War of Tipped Scales.
She only returned to see what was happening once they had stopped at a collection of rocky outcroppings in the middle of the ocean. Xilingshi was no geographer, but she too knew that this was unusual. but, even she listened to the instructions that Kei gave, nodding in understanding. She, like many of the others, stripped down to her smalls (which were simple and white; nothing to them, really) before the swim, and having lived and fought along a rocky cliff surrounded by coasts that made for prime resting places for naval strikes, she was used to the water and could swim well herself.
Once she and the others emerged from the water, Xilingshi used some swift and efficient airbending to dry herself off like a high-powered air-dryer, doing the same with her clothes and staff a moment later. There was more than one reason why this woman was an airbending master. Those tattoos of hers were not just for show.
The puzzle here was fairly obvious. Xilingshi did not say anything (she had spoken very little on this journey thus far, staying fairly cold-footed and aloof most of the time, which was just something she did with people she was not familiar with), but she contributed her part when it was clear that an airbender was one of the elements required here.
Xi was instantly intrigued by the ruined buildings, but the spiritual side of this airbender woman was very uncomfortable. There was a presence here... a very malevolent and foul one... and she could feel it vividly. It didn't take long for shit to hit the fan either. Within minutes, they were surrounded by swarms of these spirit monsters that Xilingshi didn't even want to think about--just that they needed to die. She positioned herself in front of the party, where most of the monsters were, and took a defensive stance. She did not say anything, but instead confronted the monsters directly. If there was anyone in the party she wanted to protect, it was that waterbender healer girl (for that reason actually), and perhaps ensure that Kei the leader didn't die so he could get them out of here safely. the rest of them... well, none of them could be chalked up as very tragic losses.
Xi gave abattle yell before lunching right into the thick of things, using her staff and some vicious air slices to try and do these creatures in. They did not seem to feel pain, but as a seasoned warrior responsible for ending thousands of lives over her long and bloody career, Xi knew that most things could not take a shot to the threat or the throat. She aimed for the latter, her air slices decapitating creature after creature, even if there was no end to them. She was light on her feet with the movements of a lethal dancer. She was taking an offensive but her maneuvers were defensive. This was a woman of skill, and it was clear that she was very used to protecting other people, as if they were her own soldiers. There was a reason Xilingshi was a leader, and it was not just because of her ability to direct troops on a battlefield.

The shrieking noise of the... thing Kei tried approaching sent a quick chill down Ahlya's spine. She didn't need to be good at seismic sense to feel the massive swarm headed their way. Just like with the pirates, everyone acted quickly and efficiently. The only problem was dealing with such dim lighting. At least her seismic sense was enough to make her aware of what creatures were coming towards her.
The first one bared down on her with it's sharp teeth biting at her just inches from her face. Ahlya threw the creature off of her and forcefully into the ground, but it didn't slow the beast down one bit. She kicked the dirt in front of her to send a sharp pillar of earth straight through the belly of the humanoid monster. Even with its body impaled, the creature still tried to fight its way towards her. Ahlya wasn't too worried about it now that it was immobilized, so she focused her attack on the other creatures coming towards her.
One of the creatures got a little too close to the wall, Ahlya noticed, so she bended a large section of the wall downwards to crush it. For another, Ahlya clenched her fists and pounded them together. Two large sections of the floor came up to squish the monster like a bug under a shoe. At least that was what Ahlya thought when she saw the remains of the creature after setting the earth slabs back down in their proper places. The first creature she came in contact with was still kicking its way around with its body skewered on her earth spike. Ahlya bended up another earth spike and put it right through its skull. The creature twitched before going limp on the spikes.

| Chouhi
| Chouhi had sacrificed the small amount of rum she had found on the pirate's boats when the group had gone under the water, and the night they spent on the stairs (or the platform of earth that Cyrad had kindly offered), Chouhi ended up having a nightmare. She woke up shaking and kept to herself for the rest of the trip. She didn't glance twice at the ancient, lost artifacts. She continued walking, desperately needing a drink or anything to clear her head.
And when they had entered the strange room full of skeletons, Chouhi hadn't even been aware of her surroundings until she heard Kei speak up. Everything else happened within a second, and before she knew it dozens of those leathery monsters appeared. Instead of running full force into the group like she had last time, she decided to back away into the group. She stayed in front of Jurishe, but otherwise she was behind everyone else. It wasn't until she watched Xilingshi decapitate many of the creatures that she got her head as clear as possible and ran off to the right to take care of the monsters that were moving in from the side.
Chouhi realized that she was in way over her head here, as twelve of the creatures crawled over to her. She had no time to think as four of the monsters approached her at once, their fighting style unpredictable. She jumped back, however once she landed one of the four lunged for her. She caught its outstretched hand (which sent a shiver through her body from the feeling of it) and flipped it over her shoulder. She drew her sword and stabbed it in its heart quickly, then turned away to focus as the other three ran towards her. She stood as she was about to lunge at them, but she screamed out in pain as the one on the ground had suddenly bit into her leg. She looked over her shoulder and swung her sword in way to cut its head off. Just as she turned to focus back on the enemies in front of her, all three tackled her simultaneously and began clawing her. Chouhi barely managed to throw them off of her, taking the split second of them being on the ground to also remove their heads. Chouhi wasn't dumb, she understood that she couldn't handle the last eight in her current condition. She stood up before the rest of the monsters began attacking her and shamefully limped back towards the group, looking down as she did so. She slumped down next to Jurishe and tried to fight down the shame she felt.

| Jurishe Chuyin

Jurishe had not been able to stop the startled, frightened noise that erupted from her when the first of the creatures had appeared. She had quickly clamped both hands over her mouth, to avoid making any more, but it was far too late; one way or another, they had been noticed and the horde was descending. The sheer amount of them had the waterbender's knees shaking, but there was nowhere to run.
Sheets of ice sprang from the moist, waterlogged ground at her command, trying to offer some shelter to the group - the walls were easily shattered, or simply climbed over. Completely ineffective, Jurishe became a designated torch carrier, holding it aloft so that the rest of them could see well enough to fight. She was grateful when Chouhi stood beside her - for protection, she had hoped - but was soon more frightened than before, when the alcoholic was thrashed soundly by the... zombies?
The assailants that had remained from Chouhi's failed onslaught began to lurch forward... and again, Jurishe panicked. Ice erupted up once more from the floor, enveloping both women. It would seem as though they were contained in a block of solid ice, though they were thankfully able to breathe - despite how uncomfortable their 'prison' was.

Tatsu was rather confused as he saw the rather grotesque creatures crawled out from the sealed chamber. Backing away a bit he watched the previous drunken female charge head first towards the creatures only to no avail. "W-whoa." he said as he set his hands ablaze after noticing that her attack did nothing in particular. Inhaling a bit he raised his hand up to produce a small ember in front of the creatures. "Everyone get back!" Tatsu exclaimed as a wall of flames erupted from the ground in front of the creatures.
Tatsu was out of options seeing. He only gritted his teeth a bit as he allowed the fires to encircle his arms fora while as he waited to see that these creatures would do next, of course he gave off a small sigh as he waited patiently until something or anything would appear.

| Cyrad's hill had attracted plenty of the creatures and he was starting to slip slightly on their blood as he cut, crushed, and bended the monsters to their deaths. From his vantage point he could see the entire battle, the airbender was doing phenomenal by slicing heads of creatures with such a brutality that he hadn't seen a airbender use in a long time. And Ahlya was doing well as well, she was a competent bender and that's why he didn't mind working with her even though at times the two butted heads. Sadly not everyone was dealing with it as well, Chouhi engaged some of the monsters but was overpowered and hurt and retreated to the waterbender who encased the two of them in a dome of ice. He saw the firebender erupt a plume of flames in between himself and the monsters, separating the creatures from the group and Cyrad being caught on the other side thought it was time to rejoin his companions.
He shot himself back, letting the creatures crawling up his war hill to gawk in awe as the one armed man soared over the battle and landed behind his group and closest to the exit. He stomped the ground and lifted up dozens of small rocks which he sent indiscriminately through the fire into the mass of creatures, though it was getting smaller with every one killed there was still a number of them. Cyrad looked to Kei wondering what to do next, he was technically in charge of the expedition.

| Kei
|
Kei had drawn his two handed sword and stabbed the first creature that charged him through the stomach. To Kei's horror, the attack seemed to have not weakened the creature at all as it continued to reach for Kei's face with its fangs despite having a blade in its stomach. Kei took a dagger from his belt and put it through the creatures head causing to finally fall limp. Two more creatures lunged for Kei and Kei used his massive blade to separate the upper half of both of the creatures from their lower half in one swing. This wasn't enough to stop the creatures as the upper bodies of both of the creatures continued trying to crawl for Kei. Kei put his sword through the head of one of the creatures and curb stomped the head of the other, finally killing them both off. It seemed to Kei that these creatures weren't invincible, but they were immune to pain.
Kei quickly looked around at his companions. Chouhi had nearly been overwhelmed in her fight with the creatures and was trapped in a protective ice block Jurishe had put around them. Cyrad had raised the ground around him to give himself an advantage in height over the creatures and was doing his best to keep them at bay with his sword. Ahyla was using earth bending to take the creatures out from a distance. Xilingshi was using air slices to cut the throats and heads of oncoming creatures.
As Kei looked at Tatsu, Tatsu yelled, "Everyone get back!"
Tatsu engulfed the oncoming wave of creatures in a wall of flames. However it wasn't enough. The creatures that weren't completely incinerated by Tatsu's attack kept running toward the party. Kei knew that despite having their flesh on fire, these creatures weren't in pain.
The creatures kept coming out of the many doorways and there seemed to be no end to them. If the creatures kept coming, Kei knew that they would all eventually be overrun.
"Seal the doors with Earth Bending and Ice Bending!" Kei shouted to everyone. If they prevented more of the creatures from charging into the room, they could eliminate the ones that were in the grand hall then get a quick rest and better determine their plan of action.

Thankfully Jurishe could still hear, despite being encased in ice. At Kei's shouting, she melted the ice around both herself and the alcoholic woman, freeing them both. Throwing the remaining water toward the oncoming spirit monster things, the young waterbender froze it into spikes of ice - as many as she could manage - before grabbing onto Chouhi and dragging her backward.
"Help!" She called out over her shoulder, unable to move the prone woman by herself, having been weakened slightly by her iceblock.

| Xilingshi Nailah Zoraki
| Apparently, Xilingshi was one of the ones that was having the most success, for as she flew around or slashed at these monsters to defeat them (by beheading them or whatnot), she realized that many of the others were not faring well. Granted, she didn't really care about any of them. It was not her fault that most of them were incompetent fools that had gone in way over their heads.
No, there were only two people here that mattered any; that little healer girl, and Kei the leader, who would be able to guide them through this trap. Right now, the former of these two was in trouble, worrying about useless baggage like that drunk fuck who had gone in way over her head. Well... sometimes there had to be casualties for there to be progress.
Xili swooped in, and snatched Jurishe up. she was a fairly strong woman, and supported the healer under her arms, her hands wrapped around her chest. "I gotcha..." she reassured the girl, who might have been a bit surprised, "we're getting you out nof here... I ain't turning around though." she made it clear that this rescue mission was only going to save one of them. the other would have to save herself, or someone else would have to be more benevolent.
She landed Jurishe by the stairs near where everyone else was. "not sure I ever got your name. Call me Xilingshi if you want though," she gave a quick introduction, and then went back into full military mode. "EVERYONE STAY TOGETHER!" she warned, "WE CAN'T LOSE ANY MORE LIKE THIS, AND SO DEFND YOURSELF AND DO NOT WANDER OFF!" She was a military tactician who knew what she was doing, and so hoped people would listen. As for those who were caught up in the thick of things without proper help... welp, may the odds be ever in their favor.

| Chouhi
| Chouhi had seemed to lose focus of everything by the time Jurishe had melted away the ice blocks she created. Chouhi barely realized she was being dragged until her head suddenly hit the floor.
"Ow..." was the first thing she said. She sat up, doing her best to ignore the pain throughout her body, and looked around. The monsters had lessened in numbers greatly and it looked like the entrances they were using had been sealed. Glancing behind herself, she noticed that the airbender had swooped in and grabbed Jurishe. Chouhi didn't react at all to her being left behind. She was happy that at least the group got Jurishe so she could heal whatever wounds the rest of them got. Chouhi grabbed her sword and used it to support herself as she forced herself to stand. She did a slow and painful jog over to where the group was standing.
"I'm sorry for uh..failing," she apologized aloud once she arrived. She decided to stay standing this time, using her sword as support to keep her standing.

| Cyrad sealed some of the entrances as soon as Kei had yelled out for them to do so before resuming his attack for a short time. He stopped because the airbender swooped down to save the girls and only lifted the waterbender to safety, he didn't understand why the competent bender would leave Chouhi behind when she obviously didn't have the skill to defend herself and Xilingshi was more than able to. Cyrad went to Chouhi while she stood up, proping herself up with her sword and jogging tiredly back toward the group.
"I'm sorry for uh..failing,"She said once she got back into the group.
"Don't be, are you alright?"Cyrad said. He glanced over at Xilingshi though didn't want to stare long for fear that his distaste might pervert his face. He turned away and looked around, no more creatures could enter but to exit they would have to open an entrance and risk encountering more of the beasts. He was glad he wasn't in charge and looked to Kei for guidance. "So what's the plan then?"

Kei chopped down another one of the creatures that was charging him. Xilingshi saved Jurishe from danger which was a huge relief to him. Hopefully everyone would listen to Xilingshi's instruction to stick together. As disorganized as they were right now, it was the best tactic they could follow.
To Cyrad who was standing next to him, Kei yelled, "Can you use your earthbending and close up all of the doorways these creatures are coming through? If they keep coming we will all get overrun!"
