| Just like any other day in Makapu Village, it began as the very first beams of sun touched the earth. The roosters crowed, greeting the coming light and awakening the people of the town just as the sun awoken the roosters. The people got up to begin what should have been an ordinary day. Another day of laughter, peace, living. It should have been an ordinary day, that's what anyone would have said. Why is that? That's because that's how it always was. When a split in reality appeared in the middle of the village, no one knew what it was. In fact, no one even feared it at that moment. The only thing that crossed the minds of all the watched the strange tear in reality in the middle of town was curiosity. It's existence made no sense. Curiosity was soon replaced with fear as it quickly became clear what the dimensional fissure was, a portal to the Spirit world. It wasn't the Spirit Portal itself that brought fear upon the town, it was what came out. Beings, closer to monsters than spirits. Their black etheral skin stained what was originally a tranquil town. It wasn't before long that these dark spirits began laying waste to the town. The soldiers stationed in the town did their best to quickly evacuate the citizens; the town was no longer safe. There weren't nearly enough soldiers to hold off the dark spirits coming through the portal and as a result, they too were forced to retreat and formed temporary defensive lines outside the town to hold off the oncoming waves of Dark Spirits. The soldiers knew it wouldn't be enough, but they needed to buy the citizens time to escape. Using the new, state-of-the-art telegraphy systems, the soldiers outside of Makapu sent word back to the Capital in Ba Sing Se, seeking immediate reinforcements. They were their only chance of survival... ---------------------------------------------------------- San (BloodBender, Healer) was easily the cause of the sudden appearance of the Spirit Portal. Spiritually, he was a prodigy, capable of things people shouldn't capable of. The Xuri made a quick trip to the Library of Wan Shi Tong, seeking knowledge that had been lost. San learned the rituals to creating a portal as he did and corrupting the spirits within as they had been. There was actually more to the creation of the Dark Portal in Makapu other than the destruction of the village. According to the leader, Makapu was an Anchor to an ancient part of the Spirit World that no human has entered for years. Along with two other members, the leader had entered the portal in search for something. Well, whether it was true or not, it didn't matter to San. The burning village of Makapu was a beautiful sight to him. San and two of his allies, Lau (Lava Bender) and Chui (Steam Bender), watched as the Spirits lay waste to the town. The people of the town had evacuated and the soldiers set up a defensive line outside of town in order to combat the oncoming wave of Dark Spirits. San had some control over the Dark Spirits and could tell them not to attack his allies, but as for directly commanding their every action, that was out of his abilities. The Dark Spirits would do as they wished. If they wanted to attack the Makapu Soldiers, they would do that on their own. Not that it really mattered though. The only thing San, Lau, and Chui had to do was buy their allies within the Spirit Portal some time. An easy enough task. Sighing and looking wishfully at the soldiers defensive line, Lau said, "What a pity that we must sit here and do nothing. I just want a decent fight for once. The soldiers over appear like they can do at least half of that." "Quit complaining," Chui told her, "That's all you ever do. I'm getting real annoyed." "Ohh?" Lau asked, a bit pissed, "I wouldn't be one to talk. You were complaining about the food that we were supplied with for this." Chui, starting to get pissed as well, said, "That crap doesn't even count as food. If anything, it's just..." San quit listening to the two women bicker. Honestly, it was uninteresting to him. He just continued to watch the Dark Spirits and the burning ruins of Makapu. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Exactly as planned, the Spirit Portal had led exactly to where it should have. Exactly as planned, none of the Spirits had attacked him. That was good, San never failed to dissapoint. With a hooded cloak covering his body, The man followed by two of his subjects, Jiraia (Samurai Fire Bender) and Tseng (Ex-Water Bender Captain) made their way through the land the Spirit Portal had led them to. Tseng was dragging a large bag behind him as they went. It was dark, yet the lack of stars or the moon made it clear they weren't outside. The ground was all rock and dirt, save for the numerous glowing mushrooms that dotted the land. They appeared to be inside a large cavern, but the ceiling and walls were far out of sight. Off in the distance however, some old ruins could be seen, illuminated from the green flames the burned in the torches on the building. The man knew that was where they had to go and he began proceeding in that direction, followed by Jiraia and Tseng. A few months ago, The Man and followers known as Xuri attacked the Fire Nation in the search of a powerful Amulet called the Amulet Of Tsun. The Amulet was never found however, but after a recent trip to the Library Of Wan Shi Tong, it became clear that there were other methods to achieve what they wanted. Gomorrah, the ancient spirit once worshiped as a god. That was their solution and the Man knew how to use it. They entered the ruins. In the center of it, an old circle with strange runes all around it, clearly a circle once used for rituals and stuff. It was just like the Man was told. The Man nodded at Tseng and said, "Let us begin." Tseng nodded and let the contents of the bag he was dragging roll out. A bitter taste appeared in Tseng mouth as he once again saw what it was. The head of a giant owl. The head of Wan Shi Tong. A souvenir from their trip to the Library. The Man knew that Spirits didn't simply die like this and the giant Spirit Owl would be reborn elsewhere, but still, the head of Wan Shi Tong from one his sub-physical lives would be a great gift to Gomorrah. And so it begins... The Man thought to himself, The Beginning Of The End.-------------------------------------------------------------- OOC: Alright, so this is the start of the next part of the Xuri arc. This thread is open to all who want to join, but please keep in mind that the Xuri members are all upper expert and master level enemies so don't expect your beginner tier character to keep up. Even still, if you feel you're under the level you should be to take on a Xuri member, keep in mind that you may have the assistance of another member to give you more of a fair advantage over the Xuri member. Anyways, if you want to join, you only need to put a single post in this thread. That will let me know that you're joining. Once I know you're joining, I can create a thread later on that more focused on your character. A good place to have your character start if you don't know is to meet up with the Defensive Line the Makapu soldiers have formed. From there, a battle against Dark Spirits and Xuri members will begin. Here is a link to all the Xuri members if you want it. | |

Being stuck in the Spirit World for Millennium upon millennium can really make you attuned to the slightest of changes. And things did change. A dark feeling, a controlling, binding feeling came over many spirits. They all changed for the worse, losing their innocent and light nature. They became dark, and were guided by some unknown force towards a new portal. Nothing about this was natural. The portal smelled, and looked horrific, not the light that was brought by natural portals. It had been some time before Tzekel-Kan had witnessed this same thing. He didn't agree with it then, and he hated it now. Spirits were not toys or expendable in anyway, Yet the few people who had gained dominance over them used them as soldiers. Sure, Tzekel-Kan consumed them, but that was different. He used their power in a different way entirely. This was just throwing pawns out onto a battlefield, When he more led those pawns.
It didn't take long for him to hunt down this portal. He felt the same tug as most other spirits, but he was too strong for this ritual. His hand tightened considerably through anger. One thing already pissed him off, and that was the killing of Wa Shi Tong. That was HIS prize to be won, not some game trophy, HIS power to be had. He suspected that the same people who killed the Great Owl were the same ones doing this. As he gazed through the portal, he could see the village beyond in ruin. The spirits enslaved to destroy. This, was not in any way acceptable. He did have the power to close this portal if he wanted to, but that would trap the spirits in that world, still enslaved. They would never be freed now unless the one using this ritual called them back himself. And that would most likely never happen. The best thing Tzekel-Kan could do, would be to consume them. The hex over them would end, and they would join their brothers and sisters inside of him.
With one last look back at his beloved Spirit World, he stepped through the dirty, artificial portal, into the burned and broken village.

“He’s gone.”
“He’s dead.”
“He who knows ten thousand things has been killed!”
The Nomad’s eyes opened slowly. He turned his gaze carefully around the clearing where he sat cross-legged, keeping a close eye on the multiple spirits that were whipping around the air. They were obviously agitated, and this talk of death intrigued Elegys. He who knows ten thousand things was an ancient spirit, and they were not easily taken down – Wan Shi Tong of the Great Spirit Library was no weak spirit. Whatever had killed him, they meant serious business.
He rose to his feet steadily, breaking into a walk as soon as he had reached his full height. He could feel the disturbance already – somewhere in the Spirit World a new portal had been opened, and spirits were leaking out of it. However, the most interesting thing was that three humands had come back the other way.
It was to them he headed now. Each step took him what seemed like a hundred miles, and before he knew it he was standing next to the portal that the spirits were rushing through. He spotted a cave in the distance, and recognised it instantly.
It was the ruins of an ancient temple – a shrine to Gomorrah, a most ancient spirit. Elegys had never seen the place in the flesh, but he had heard and read about the place many times before. His power was said to be unrivalled, which sent a shock of fear down Elegys’ spine. Just what were these people after?
He quickly noticed the three figures that were walking to the ruins and walked up behind them, closing in on them with ease. The Dark Avatar paused at the entrance to the actual ruin as the men walked in. He leaned against a stone pillar and watched them as they removed the head of Wan Shi Tong from the sack and dropped it onto the floor, an obvious offering to Gomorrah.
There was no doubt now; he had definitely found the right people.
”It’s been a long time since Wan Shi Tong has been to this temple. It forces me to wonder why he didn’t come willingly,” he said loudly, so that the trio could hear him. He remained calm however, his face betraying nothing of the anger within at the death of such a Great Spirit.

| Isi wasn't sure if she should be flattered or worried that Queen Meili had come to her personally, but whatever the case, she knew of the Xuri from the Fire Nation, and so this was a matter of being in the right place at the right time. Besides... she had a score to settle with that lavabender. Despite knowing the skill herself, Isi did not see anything positive about lavabending other than as a defense against other assaults and such. But, that was for another time. for now... she was approaching Makapu village, ready for some action.

And so it begins. Ryu and Kyorin's group would land on the mountain which overlooked the town as his troops in the tanks should be arriving sooner rather than later to help man the situation. From their view the group consisting of the 4 soldiers, Kyorin and Ryu could see what was what they came to prevent. The city was on fire in a large abundance of places and the cause of it? A giant beam in the sky directly in the center of town or maybe the black figures whom were the ones doing all this damage.. "Kyorin, Those spirits... They didn't open that portal themselves" said Ryu as he braced himself for a showdown with the spirits.

The City was burning. Dark shapes of all forms roamed the destroyed and littered streets. From what he could see, some of the dark shapes that weren't moving were bodies, mostly burnt. He grit his teeth at the sight.
A voice brought him out of his anger a little, Ryu, talking about the spirit portal. "You're right. They didn't. Someone or something else did. But right now it's the spirits we need to worry about, not the portal itself."
The Balloon landed, and the soldiers got off, and so did Kyorin. "Time for a very, very long day."

“Finally! Makapu!” boomed Oghren as he entered the city ready to sample the spirits he heard about. What Oghren expected to find was a city in the midst of a drinking-fest of sorts, instead people where fleeing for their lives all around him. “What on earth? Where are all you people going?!” asked Oghren looking around frantically. Immediately a town guard ran up to the stout drunk and explained the situation.
“Sir, the city is under attack, no one is to enter!” Insisted the soldier.
“Attack?! What kind of soft in the head idiots attack during a drink-fest?!” demanded Oghren.
The guard gave the earthbender an odd, confused look, “What on earth are you talking about?! The city is being attacked! YOU NEED TO LEAVE!”
Oghren growled, “I am going in there you swishy coward! Unless you want to explain to your superiors why you were beaten senseless by one of the Queen’s Shadows!”
The guard immediately recoiled. “A s-s-shadow?! …I-I’m sorry sir…” he stuttered, moving away from Oghren. “just be careful sir…there are angry spirits about!”
Oghren grinned, drew his huge axe and walked into the city. “I am counting on it!” he replied as he made his way towards the smoke and the screams.

Tsuki could see up ahead her destination was not too much further. Her target was supposedly housed somewhere in Makapu and she had been on his trail for 2 weeks now, which was a decent amount of time but approaching her personal deadline for targets of this level.
As she walked closer, she felt a chill and shift in the air as something ripped into the sky ahead. It was definitely coming from the village. The dark spirits exiting from the rift would reveal that this was nothing good for her and especially not for that village. Her curiosity got the best of her and instead of postponing her trip to the village, she would expedite it. Tsuki would wrap her blue scar around the lower half of her face tightly, concealing her identity, and would break into a sprint in the direction of the village. She would leap over many puddles on the ground left by the heavy rain last night in the area.
Once Tsuki arrived on scene, she would keep to the trees and bushes, keeping mostly out of sight. Military was already on scene and had evacuated most of the city from what she could tell. But the city itself was a lost cause. There seemed to be confusion among the ranks. What were they up against exactly?
Well, well. I wonder if a pay increase is in order.
