Akhet Sumatra Tallarico	He did quite enjoy that adorable blush. This time he declined commenting on it though, deciding to ease up a little for the time being. "Nothing wrong with breakfast three meals a day if you asked me." he agreed, "it's really one of the few types of food that can almost never go wrong with." He was quite content with the food he had ate, and was curious to see more. He was better at cooking meats and fish given that hunting and fishing were common in the Water Tribes, although just like her, frying was usually his style of choice. "So where do I put the dishes?" he asked her as he stood up, having finished his food, and was ready to get back to work.

Minali Otoyome	Minali was both glad and surprised that he hadn't noticed her blush (or so she thought). The attention he gave her, sometimes, made that squirmy feeling come back. She wasn't sure what it was, or even if it was a good thing or not; all she knew was that she'd never had the feeling before, except when she'd eaten poorly prepared fish, as a child. With that thought, Minali had to wonder if she'd been given any undercooked food, recently. Standing as well, she reached for his plate, holding her own in her other hand, ready to carry them into the kitchen, "Th'counter's fine. Ah'll do 'em later; th'wall's th'most important thing, right now."

Akhet Sumatra Tallarico	Nodding, he set his plate on the counter, as instructed. "Alrighty then; fair enough. You ready to get back to work?" he was considering leaving his shoes off for it, for other than when he was walking on frigid ice, Akhet, perhaps thanks to his sister, enjoyed going barefoot. He had also not forgotten about her blushing; he was just going to mention it at a different time when there was not a plate in her hands--and certainly not while there was a brick. He did not actually think she would turn so violent over a joke, but he'd play it safe. Besides... he wanted it to be more smoothly executed.

Minali Otoyome	Laughing slightly, Minali smiled over at him as she set their dishes down, trying to gloss over the fact that she's blushing, "Ah ain't tired; let's get 'er finished up, as best we can, tonight. Issat okay?" Moving around the table, heading for the stairs, she glanced back at him, waiting for the answer. Because she wasn't watching where she was going, Minali actually stumbled, loosing her footing right before the stairs.

Akhet Sumatra Tallarico	he gave her a clever smirk. "we waterbenders are creatures of the night. I'm fine with staying up late." he indicated. there was no hidden meaning behind this either. after she stacked the dishes, he followed her down, again letting her lead because this was her house and yaddey yaddey. However, this time he was glad for his swift reflexes. he noticed her stumble right before the stairs, and seized her arm to prevent her from taking a nosedive and flattening her face against the ground at the bottom of the stairs. "Careful now," he said sounding a bit serious for a moment as he helped her stabilize, before reducing his tone to a chuckle again. "can't have you falling down. you sure you don't want your boots to better your traction?" he chuckled, making light of the situation because he didn't want to embarrass her because of her slip-up. He had no moral qualms against joking a bit if the person in question was okay.

Minali Otoyome	"Ah'm f-fine," She stuttered, though her eyes were wide, from the scare and she clung to him, for a moment, "Thanks, fer grabbin' me, though... Would've hurt, t'fall." It was probably the only situation in which she'd thank him for grabbing her, too. Slowly, she released him, offering a half-smile. Paying better attention this time, she descended the steps, moving down into the workroom, still without socks or boots. "Same jobs?" Minali asks him, her voice deceptively light, "Or d'ya wanna take a turn with th'super-fun bricks an' let me do th'mortar?" While she still didn't care, she'd let him choose.

Akhet Sumatra Tallarico	"you're welcome." he smiled, releasing her after she had stabilized. "I'd hate to see such a cute face get bludgeoned into a pulp by the stairs, after all..." Somewhat of a roundabout compliment, Akhet was satisfied with it. as they got down the steps, he paused for a moment as his question. "hmm... let's mix it up and switch places this time... just for the heck of it." he too was fine either way, but if she was asking, he gave his two bits. Provided that she agreed, he would soon be back to work, working in cooperative unison with him.

Minali Otoyome	Grabbing for the mortar tool, Minali took over his job, spreading the thick paste-like substance over the previous row of bricks. She was a little shaky, at first - inexperienced - but soon she picked it up, moving as quickly as he had, before. They were back to making great time. "...'ey," She spoke, suddenly and softly, "Will ya sing th'song you were hummin', earlier?" It was a strange request, perhaps, but she was curious. The tune seemed familiar, though, and she'd like to see if she knew it or not. Besides that, Minali bet that his singing voice was very nice, and she wanted to hear it.

Akhet Sumatra Tallarico	he was patient with her, for he too was not terribly experienced at it either. however, soon they were cooperating to the point where the work went fluidly and efficiently. "hmm?" she got his attention. "sure... lemme see if I can remember them." he started humming for a moment, adjusting his tone a couple times before getting it right. It was indeed a lullaby. "Hush, child, the darkness will rise from the deep, and carry you down into sleep; child, the darkness will rise from the deep, and carry you down into sleep..." was how the song began, and the remainder of the lyrics were simply the dreams that a mother had for her children. Akhet's version was personal, as was the version his mother sang each of her children, for they had different strengths and weaknesses, even with so many traits in common.

Minali Otoyome	Though she had been trying to keep working steadily, once he began to sing, her fingers stilled, all of her attention on him. Minali had considered it briefly, when she'd first heard him speak, and it was clear that she'd been right about Akhet's voice; it was perfectly suited for singing. Sitting back on her heels, she relaxed, a soft smile crossing her face as she enjoyed listening. The song was very sweet, and she wondered who it had been composed for - if anyone in particular.

Akhet Sumatra Tallarico	He soon had to stop as well, for without her, he could not do much unless he was to do it himself--something he would be fine with, but first his curiosity had to be sated. he continued singing the song softly to her for a few more minutes, as it was able to be repeated, and her relaxed expression made him smile. after he finished the song, he smiled back at her. "Tell you what... I'll sing it again after we finish the wall, yes?" if she tried to deny that she liked it, he would just laugh at her. He felt the origins would be best left a surprise as well unless she asked. Still... with bricks in hand, he wanted her to feel secure that they had finished the job, but he could not deny that he wanted to sing it to her again to see her so beautifully relaxed like that.

Minali Otoyome	Sitting up rather suddenly, at his words, Minali nodded quickly, brushing the heel of her hand over her cheek, hiding the blush there. "Y - yeah, sorry; Ah liked it. S'really nice - th'song." She scrambled up, returning to her work, trying to keep busy with the work, rather than dwelling on his singing voice. The wall was now up to her chest, rising higher and higher. Thankfully, they seemed to have plenty of material left for the wall and shouldn't run out. Once they finished, however, she would have to get a few more things to fix it up - but that could wait.

Akhet Sumatra Tallarico	he chuckled. "don't you worry about it. I Just want to make sure we get this done as soon as possible. I could tell a bit earlier that you were anxious about it." he softly patted her back, rubbing it for a moment before continuing the bricklaying. they were making good progress, and now Akhet had more than one thing that he wanted to do with her. perhaps he could put the two things together at one point though. After all, he was not going to let this be theri last meeting, even after the wall was finished. he quietly hummed a different tune as he worked, quite liking the pace they were going at.

Minali Otoyome	"Ah didn't like th'idea of sleeping upstairs, with a big ol' hole in th'wall down here," She admits, slightly ashamed of it for some reason, "Ain't afraid've much, but losin' m'work is somethin' Ah couldn't stand... an' Ah'd be afraid of someone comin' in, too." It wasn't unreasonable, considering how the hole had gotten there, in the first place. Admitting it actually had her moving faster, wishing that the wall could be whole faster. In just a few short minutes she'll have to go fetch a stool to stand on, so that they could finish their project; soon the wall would be even taller than she was. It was a good sign, of course, and it wouldn't be long before they were done.

"my mother would have a fit if something was out of place like that." he pulled a few of the older bricks towards them to use as steps when the wall got taller than they were. "it's always a bit unnerving when someone breaks in... so it's always best to give them as little opportunity as possible." he paused in his thoughts, but continued his work. "speaking of sleeping though... is that your plans for after this, or something else?" Once again not insinuating anything, he was just curious and wanting a simple answer that he could work off of.

Minali Otoyome	Minali hummed, at his question. "Well, Ah was hopin' t'hear ya sing again," She points out, as Akhet had told her that he would, "Other than that... Ah didn't have any plans. Did'ya wanna do somethin'?" Turning, her gaze tried to meet his with own, her head tilting to the side. When she had wiped at her cheek, earlier, she had accidentally smeared a tiny amount of the mortar across her skin. She clearly didn't notice it, and it wasn't too near her eye, but it stood out against her tanned complexion, likely drawing attention to it.

Akhet Sumatra Tallarico	he chuckled in a friendly manner. "well, that certainly wasn't going to be the last time I did," he assured her, "although it's getting late, yes? unless you wanted me to sing you a lullaby or something. I bet you'd look adorable." he chuckled, but he only ever made offers that he was willing to follow through on. So if she said yes, then he would... but he would save some of his songs for other times. he didn't want to reveal his entire self to her all at once. soon, the wall was finished, and it looked pretty darn good. It was here that Akhet noticed something different about her face, albeit a slight difference. noticing the mortar on her skin, he reached a hand out to wipe it off. "you got a bit of that stuff on your face," he explained so she would know what he was doing. his touch was gentle nonetheless, just as it had been when eh healed her.

Minali Otoyome	Her laugh, which had been in response to his 'lullaby' comment, stopped abruptly when his thumb brushed at her cheek. "Oh. Thanks," Her voice was a little breathless - perhaps from her laughter, or perhaps from his actions. Her cheeks were still pink from her blush earlier, which showed no signs of fading. "Um, if y'wanted t'sing, Ah wouldn't mind hearin' it, even if y'did a lullaby," Minali answered quickly, moving off the section of broken wall that she'd been standing on, "Just, um, Ah probably would... fall asleep. M'pretty tired, all've a sudden, y'know?" It was fairly late now, actually. Quickly, she added, "But, if y'need t'head back, t'get some sleep fer tomorrow, Ah'd understand. We've been workin' fer hours, now, an' Ah'm sure today was more work than y'thought it would be, so..." Minali let herself trail off, to avoid digging herself a deeper hole. Though she wanted to thank him, as well, she would wait until he had given his answer; either to sing or to head home, to return tomorrow.

Akhet Sumatra Tallarico	he chuckled. "I'm used to staying up late. I think I can give you a quick song or two before you go to bed." he offered, "I'll even stay outside your room while you get changed." he assumed she had pajamas of some sort (he did, though they were back at his room), which was where his statement came from. "and afterwards, if you're asleep I'll make sure the place is secure before returning to my room, and then I'll probably be back here first thing tomorrow morning or something." he chuckled again. he was defintiely going to return tomorrow, almost whether she liked it or not. In his bag he had also brought the waterbending books and scrolls with the intent of letting her borrow them, but since she was going to bed soon and he was going to come back first thing in the morning... it sort of defeated the purpose, as she would not likely get very far into them by the time he returned. So... that could be another time. "how's that sound?" he said with a wide grin.

Minali Otoyome	"Ah'd appreciate that, a hell'ova lot," Minali smiled up at him, reaching up to slide her goggles out of her hair, giving her head a shake afterward to loosen her curls, "C'mon." Leading him up the stairs, then up to the second floor, Minali let him into her home. It was small - the ceiling only a few inches taller than Akhet was - but it was comfortable enough. There was a small dresser in one corner, with a padded chair nearby for relaxing. Another corner was taken up by a decent sized bed and the nightstand, which held a few books. Across the room were two small doors; presumably the washroom and a closet. The entire room was spotless. Minali let him look, for a moment, waiting for him to speak. Then, unable to wait, she intones, almost nervously, "Tada~?"

Akhet Sumatra Tallarico	he was mesmerized by her flying curls for a moment, but recovered fairly quickly. he wanted to bounce them and play with them. he followed her up to the 2nd floor, smiling as she showed him her room. "I like it." he said in honestly. "it's cozy and homely... reminds me a bit of my own place." then he folded his arms with his calm smile back on his face. "As soon as you're ready for bed, I'll sing you that lullaby again." he grinned, enjoying how happy and excited she seemed, despite being tired. he was tired himself as well.

Minali Otoyome	Moving over to her dresser, Minali selected a few garments, pulling them out as she went. Once she'd gotten all that she wanted, she glanced back over at Akhet. "Ah'll be right back," She promised, disappearing through one of the doors, for a few minutes. When she emerged, Minali was dressed in light sleep clothes; a shirt that seemed to be a size or two too large, and a pair of loose sleep pants. Her socks could still be seen as she walked, but her leather guard and shorts had been left behind. "Ah'm ready," She told him, sitting on her bed, waiting as a child might, for a bedtime story. He could either join her, sitting on her bed, or take a seat in the chair near the dresser. Or stand, but that wouldn't be very comfortable.

Akhet Sumatra Tallarico	Akhet nodded as she emerged. his clothes were loose and breezy, and he was barefoot, so it was not like he was dressed uncomfortably. he sat down on her bed next to her, a hand reaching to rub her back softly as if as a simple gesture of appreciation. clearing his threat and humming a few notes, he slowly closed his eyes and went back into his lullaby. While the words were the same as before, the melody sounded like it had been transposed a couple of steps. everything else about it was the same, and he let his soothing voice fill the air. He often liked to get lost in the tune himself, as he enjoyed it, as it reminded him of the cunning and powerful woman who had sung it to him as a child. as shady as Zurok might have been, she was still Akhet's mother, and he loved her accordingly.

Minali Otoyome	At first, she listened very closely to his singing, enjoying the lyrics melding with the melody. Then, her eyes began to slip shut as he continued the song. Despite her interest, Minali was just far too tired to stay awake for much longer. Slowly, she moved to lay down on her side, offering him a small smile, to show that she wasn't quite asleep, just yet. Once she was laying down, she was fighting a losing battle; within minutes, her chest was rising and falling very slowly, and she was fast asleep. His soothing voice had lulled her right to sleep, just as he'd said.

Akhet Sumatra Tallarico	he continued his song as he watched her shift and lie down, and he acted as if he did not notice, but he was always watching her out of the corner of his eye. he did not stop until he was sure she was asleep, and then he stood up. He gently shifted her legs and essentially tucked her in, and gave her a kiss on the forehead, although that was more because he liked her, not him trying to be her daddy. he quietly stepped out the door, closing it as he did so, and grabbing his boots and his bags, he left the store, making sure it was locked up before he went to return to his room. Uponj his own return, he stripped down, removed his handwraps, and put on an even breezier pair of pants, sleeping shirtless and barefoot. the little beaded braids on the sides of his face were not enough to become problematic, and so he left those in. Soon he too was asleep and in dreamland. However... come the morning, he would be right back at the shop with her again.
