Zuzerez Zenzi Zairza

It did not take a genius to figure out that Zair was not a sandbender. Her skinnier build, her green eyes, and that messy hair, in fact, pointed all entirely to the foggy swamps. Her accent was also somewhat foreign to the Water Tribes, which ruled them out.
Upon learning this, Zair had always been interested in going back to see what these swamps were like. She had always just heard that they were far to the west of where she lived and travelled.
Well, a 9-year-old girl couldn't just pack her things and walk halfway across a desert. No... that was impractical, and even she knew it. She could at least make a trek from one small camp or village to the next though. For the longer journies, she'd use her pretty face and puppy eyes to try and charm her way on board. 57 pounds was not much extra weight.

Concerted effort on her part helped her navigate westward, and days and nights of travelling alone or with others (mostly the latter) and soon she found herself gazing upon a humid, green jungle in front of her. This had to be the place.

a few steps in, and already her toes were sinking into mud. That didn't bother her so much, but she liked her little dress and didn't want it getting all muddy. washing it would require a lot of strenuous waterbending, and well... Zair was a kid. she didn't like work. She would tread carefully, hopping from branch to branch or rock to rock, trying to avoid the mud (although already, her feet were caked in it). she was singing happily to herself, without really a care in the world as to where she ended up. Maybe she'd meet some swamp people. She kind of hoped she would, but even if not, this terrain was so drastically different from the sandy or rocky terrain she had been traversing for the last few days, and so she was intrigued in a whole new way anyways.

Rather than walking through the swamp, the swampbender Kusu seemed to have found a tiger-stag to carry him and his meager supplies through the muck. It was still a slow pace that they set, however, partially because the sun was high, and partially because of the swampbender's laid back nature; he was in no hurry and had nowhere to be. Still, he sang as they went, in a twanging accent. "Ah'ain naw bok'en ah'ain naw jaw'an ah'ain gon' jim'eh'jaw'neh...~"

His only possessions were strung at his hips and on his back, leaving him basically a rider only. The tiger-stag seemed not to mind, having gained most of its temperament from its deer ancestry. In this part of the swamp, it was peaceful, which only helped the animal remain steady and calm. It didn't even seem to mind Kusu's song: "Ah'ain naw che'reh'me'reh an' ah'ain naw chik-ik-ik-ik'ikkeh an' ah'ain gon' jim'eh'jaw'neh...~ Ah'ain naw jig' an' ah'ain naw mok'ken ah'ain goooon'na jim'eh'jaw'neh...~!"

Zair's wondering through the swamps was mostly quiet, which she was surprised at. She knew at the very least that it meant no swamp benders were around, because they tended to be rather loud and boisterous. Not that that was a bad thing, given her fondness for music and dancing and merryments and the likes. It was just a fairly good indicator.

after a bit more wondering, hopping from rock to rock and root to root, she began hearing singing. it was wild singing, and Zair couldn't even decipher half of it. ti was growing louder though, and Zair began hippity-hopping towards it, staying rather elegantly on her little tippy toes. after a few minutes, the singer started to come into view, and by that point, Zair was humming along with the song as well. shestill couldn't tell half of the words, but there was soemthing about his tone that reminded the youngster of her own tone. Maybe they were truly of the same mold.

From a mount, the child would be easy to spot, especially in her little bright dress (which she was currently tempted to remove, simply to keep it from getting dirty).

Even as he continued to sing, Kusu spotted the little girl up on the trees, in her colorful dress. Glancing around, trying to spot who she must be traveling with. Spotting no one, the swampbender steered the tiger-stag over beneath the large tree roots, offering the child a lopsided smile and a wave. "...'Ey li'l 'un," He called up to her, "Where're y'folks 'ey darlin'?" While the words might be creepy out of context, his friendly nature made it clear that he was more concerned about a child alone in a magical swamp.

He did continue to hum softly, as he waited for the answer, remaining on his stead. Kusu didn't want to startle the child by moving too close, or getting off the tiger-stag, somehow appearing threatening. His calm demeanor continued on, keeping him peaceful and serene.

Zuzerez Zenzi Zairza

As a child not even a decade in age, Zair interpretted the question on a basic and literal level. She understood that few children travelled alone, and presumed that it was the same in this swamp. If nothing else, his friendly and cheerful tone betrayed the harmless truth.

"I hitched a ride with th'nomads ada'desert." she pointed her thumb eastward. surely he would know of the great Si Wong. "d'ya live her'in th'swamp?"
her voice was small but lively, and she sounded curious. She crawled down to the lower branches, kind of like a monkey. He looked like most of the travelling swamp people that occasionally (albeit quite rarely) passed through, but the dark skin and messy hair didn't look much like a sandbender either, so perhaps that was the indicator to the youngster that he was in fact a swampie, as she often called 'em. Then again, when she asked the older nomads what she was, they'd call her a swamp girl as well, not as an insult, but as a reference to her rather clear heritage, even if no one knew where her parents were.

"where ya headin' tuh?" she asked out of curiosity, dangling by one arm from a low branch. If she let go and controlled her fall, she'd land on a mossy rock. if she slipped or the branch broke, she'd probably land on her butt on that rock and then slide off into the mud or something. no big deal apart from a bruised backside.

"that song o' yerz shure wuz purdy, bah th'way." she grinned happily at the older man, being honest in saying that. it was a catchy and lively tune. she wished to learn it someday.

Smiling at the child's accent, recognizing it for what it was, Kusu nodded at her first question. "Been livin' in 'at 'ere swamp f'm'whole daggum life, all th'years've it... Bor'n raised, y'ken?" It was a kind tone, rather than a sarcastic one, as the words might have seemed so, to an adult.

For her second question, he reached up to scratch at the back of his neck, looking a bit reluctant, if not sheepish. "Jaw ken... Ain' rightful sure. Outta th'daggum muck fer now. Y'headden int'th'heart, li'l darlin'?" Kusu was a bit more concerned with the apparently parent-less child before him; the swamp was dangerous, after all. Though he'd never had very prominent parenting instincts, the older swampbender was a bit protective.

When she mentioned his song, it just softened his smile. There weren't many who liked his singing, so he always loved hearing that someone did. He offered a bow, not in jest, but in sincere appreciation of the compliment. It was unspoken, but his reaction should imply that he would gladly sing again, if asked.

Zair smiled back at the older man's accent, glad he understood her. sometimes she had to try and speak slower and clearer to some of the more northern nomads, but that was not too often.
"ah gotche." she nodded to acknowledge him, still hanging from her branch. she contemplated his second question before nodding, kicking her little mud-covered feet slowly. "aye... I wanda see t'hart o' th'place... or s'more of th'people here, y'know?"

she noticed his smile, and after a moment of swinging, carefully let go and landed with her feet onto the mossy rock with a plop.
"kin'ah come wicha?" she asked, a bright smile on her face, hoping to tag along. She had on a cute little childish expression that she often used when trying to hitch a ride--not trying to be manipulative; she just wanted someone to travel with because she was smart enough to realize that she was a little kid who could not easily travel alone.

That smile was Kusu's undoing; any plans he had to leave the swamp were swept aside, all at once, and replaced with the task of seeing this little one safely to the heart of the murk and back out again, to find her caretakers. With an inward sigh, the swampbender nodded and smiled at the little girl. "Showre y'can, li'l darlin'... Hopp'on up on ol' Fig an' we'll getcha set," He patted the tiger-stag, who was obviously "ol' Fig", to show Zair that it was friendly.

"okie dokie!" she grinned, hopping aboard the creature with no inhibition or reservation. she was small and her weight not terribly significant.
"so where ya gon' take me?" she asked curiously, technically okay with going wherever. Sure she wanted to see the hearts of the swamps, but as long as she got to explore them, she was okay. She didn't know that he was thinking about her guardians. The nomads out east had sort of been that for her, and while none had really ever claimed or adopted her, she was treated well enough, and got along with most of the local children in the various villages she passed through.

"iz it purdy? are thar' more folks 'r jus' animals?" she was bubbly and curious, mostly because everything here was so new to her. there was so much water, for one thing, that Zair was nearly overwhelmed by it all. it was quite the change from the desert. that was for sure.

Kusu clicked his tongue, wheeling the tiger-stag around; both his swampboat and Ol'Fig had failed to get him out of the swamp, at this point, though to no fault of their own. Smiling, he answered the child, "Gon'take ya t'th'heart tree s'y'can see 'er fer yerself, li'l 'un. Y'wan'see th'center an'y'gotta listen t'th'swamp when s'tellin'ya sum'thin'...." Now if only he could follow that advice.

Then, to her other questions, he began to answer in that same, rambling way, as the tiger-stag threaded its way through the giant tree roots and other flora. "S'th'purdiest place in th'world; th'murk is," He began, giving Ol'Fig another pat on his neck, to keep him going in the right direction, "S'green an'leafy an'full'a flowers... Y'like 'em; flowers?" Kusu thought that most little girls did, but he could be wrong. "S'gon'be a few folks," the swampbender continued, "Mos'gon be critters tho', y'ken?"

Pointing at a tree branch, he mentioned, "Y'see that'un? S'petal-lizard. Purdy li'l things, but da'ggum nasty sum'b -- uh, things!" Kusu stopped himself abruptly, mid-curse. Though he was a laid back sort, the older swampbender did know that there were things one did not say or do in front of a child - he wasn't that ass-backward.

"th'swamp... talks?" she looked confused. she had heard stories about that before, but she wasn't sure if they were true. Already, visions of talking water and trees were dancing through her mind. "'zit a talkin' tree'r som'in?"

She listened to him ramble, and perhaps ironically, finding his accent to be rather warm and inviting. It made her feel less insecure about her own voice, anyways, since among the sandbenders, her little swamp accent stood out quite well.
"I love flow'rs!" Zair squealed happily, "I dun see many of 'em in th'desert... jus lots o'sand. thar ain't much flow'rs out thar."

she looked when he pointed, taking a curious interest. "how're they daggum nasty?" she asked, "I though y'said they wuz purdy?"
Zair was relatively sharp, but the two terms seemed contradictory to her, which didn't make sense. Then again, she was used to sand and lots of brown, so all of this water and greenery was quite foreign to her.

"Naw," Kusu shook his head, at her question and the apparent image in her head, "Ain'a talkin' tree. S'mo' like... th'swamp gon'give ya feelin's. Y'go' listen t'em feelin's, 'r th'muck ain'too nice t'ya." He should know.

Her childish squeals of delight had him chuckling, "W'gon' gitcha s'me flowers fer ya, li'l darlin'... Ah'll go'an show ya th'purdiest've 'em, y'ken? Th'ones y'kin pick." The swampbender would, too; he was manly enough to pick swamp daisies for a little girl.

Then, in regards to the petal-lizard. "Y'see 'em teeth?" He asks, holding his fingers up to his mouth to indicate fangs, "Daggum teeth're bigger'en th'whole daggum critter's head, y'ken? Critter'll sink 'em into ya an'ain'bout t'let'em go... Purdy buggers, nasty buggers, y'ken?"

By way of explanation, figuring that the child would ask the famous "why" question, Kusu continued, "Th'petal-lizard gon'wan' eat th'birds an'toads, y'ken? Makin' look lahke purdy flowers gon' help th'daggum thing get'em nice an'close, fer bitin' 'em." When he said "bitin' 'em", he moved his fingers to mime a mouth lunging out and snapping on some imaginary foe.

"ohhhhhh!" she exclaimed. yes, that made things much clearer. "so it speaks ta... ta...." she was trying to figure out how to word it. "like, t'yer mahnd?" she pointed at her noggin. She occasionally got strange thoughts in her head that she figured was something or someone speaking to her mentally. Maybe not though; she wasn't sure, so this was the best comparison she was able to draw up.

There was a certain amount of respect that was deserved for those who were willing to cater to simple and reasonable requests from little children, even from things as simple as dads who would paint their little girls' toenails. of course, for Zair, she was simply excited to hear about it.
"th'really purdy ones?" her eyes lit up, before suddenly pausing. "an' th'swamp'll let us pick 'em?"
if the swamp spoke to people, surely it would have a say over whether or not people were allowed to pick its flowers. That was how most talking people were, yes? "le's go le's go!" she seemed excited at the prospect.

She listened to Kusu's description of the petal-lizards, her little mouth hanging slightly open with an awe-inspired interest, as if the gears in her head were beginning to turn as things started making more sense. She had indeed been about to ask why, and so for Kusu to explain it saved Zair a word or two.

"so d'they bahte people? lahk you r'me?" she asked, looking slightly concerned, "I dun want no fangs in mah arm 'r somethin' naw..."
she looked up at him with those large curious eyes, waiting for the response.

With a chuckle, the swampbender nodded, spurring Ol' Fig to move once again, heading slowly but surely deeper into the swamp. "S'right, li'l darlin'... Th'swamp dun speak t'yer mahnd. S'a'gud way t'put it, Ah reckon," Kusu agreed, reaching up to scratch at the dreadlocks on his head, "Ain' speak lahke any other daggum thing Ah've gon'n' heard."

In regards to the flowers, he offered another nod, "S'lon' as we ain'gun rip 'em all out, th'murk ain' too nasty fer it. J'st gotta make sure y'ain' makin' th'vines twitch'r th'water shake," He mimed once again, for Zair's benefit, or perhaps her amusement, "Otherwise ain' no daggum way th'Tribe be livin' in 'ere... Th'heart bein' so touchy."

The petal-lizard had skittered down the branch, at this point, watching them depart, though it made no move to follow. "Naw... ain'gon' follow 'r nuthin'. Petal-lizard j'st wan'a eat lahke th'rest've us, y'ken? Ain'gon' bite unless yer food 'r pissin' 'im off. J'st don' wan'a git too close, y'ken?"

"so..." she looked curious again, "'zit gud when th'swamp speaks t'ya? 'r'zit bad? cuz Ah dun wannit speakin' t'me if it's bad... Ah ain't gonna do none bad t' it 'neither. but if it s'gud... maybe we kin' talk?" she giggled. She was very analytical for a little girl, but was still at that phase where she would mention a lot of her thought process aloud.

"well..." in response to the remark about flowers, "Ah wudn't wanna take all d'flow'rz... den it wudn't be purdy at'all. gotta leave some b'hind fer nex' time... 'r fer others... raht?"
she did mentally note to watch the vines and the water when she was in this place. apparently this was part of what Kusu was teaching her to watch out for, or something.

Zair watched the petal-lizard with interest, although her fears of it subsided as she listened to Kusu teach her some more about the critter. "oooh. okie dokie then. Ah ain't gonna piss 'im off an'ah shor hope Ah dun look lahk foodz. ain't wantin' to end up ded in th'muck."
although this also triggered a switch in Zair's mind.
"speakin' of..." she looked back at him, and what he was wearing, and then back at ehrself and what she wore. "duz ever'one here wear 'dem leaf thingies? are they comfy?"
she didn't seem opposed to the idea herself (and was already starting to see how it could be more practical through mental analysis), but she had not seen this before and so was curious.

"Most've th'tribe wears 'em," Kusu nodded, "S'all 'bout takin' what th'swamp gives ya an' usin' it, y'ken? Ain'gon' jest leave it all layin' there t'rot inta nuthin'..." Then, "Ah think yer dress s'raht purdy. Better 'en leaves an'vines." The older swampbender smiled, still leading their mount in the right direction, toward the heart of the giant tree.

When asked about the swamp, however, Kusu gave a small snort, his brows furrowing slightly. "Th'murks a daggum raht b -- uh -- temperamental li'l shit," He alters his language at the last second, "If'n s'happy wit'cha, ain' no cause t'worry, li'l darlin'. If'n s'pissed at'cha... y'daggum better do what yer told." Glancing down at the little girl, the swampbender added, "Th'swamp ain'too happy wit'me... but don'choo worry; ain' mad at'choo, so y'ain' got nuthin' t'worry about."

Knowing, then, that the child would be naturally curious, Kusu reached up to brush his dreadlocks back and out of his face, trying to suppress a sigh. "Ah ain'doin' what th'swamp's tellin' me t'do, y'ken? S'been tellin' me t'hightail it outta 'ere, but Ah keep gettin' back innit. Don'even know why Ah'm headed out, but Ah'm headed... once yer satisfied wit'what'choo see. Ain'leavin' ya on yer lonesome."

"ohhhhh..." she nodded, since it made sense. "an' aye... Ah do lahk th'dress, but maybe Ah should git somma'dem leafs for m'self... cuz Ah dun wanna git it all durty... but leaves 'n vahns n stuff 'kin git dirty withaut a probl'm, yeh?"
that was her thought process, and she'd rather wear a few leaves around her nethers than get her pretty little dress all filthy with mud.

she giggled upon hearing the phrase "temperamental little shit". she had heard that language before, but figured it was some grown-up thing.
"wah's th'swamp mad atcha?" she asked, "didja hurt its feelin'zer some'in? whah'z th'swamp not lika ya here?"
she couldn't really wrap her mind around the concept. How would you make a swamp want you gone? maybe if you destroyed it, but Kusu did not seem like that type of person at all. Zair certainly hoped he wasn't.

"Ah hope th'swamp doesn't ever git mad at me. it's real nahs n' purdy... Ah woodn' mahnd livin' heer."
granted, she knew next to nothing about what it was like, but what she saw of it registered in the youngster's mind as being really awesome.

Chuckling, Kusu reached down to pat Zair's head gently, touching her for the first time at all, since they'd met. "Gon'git'cha s'me leaves an' vines 'en, li'l darlin'," the swampbender promises, "M'tribe'll git'cha squared. Folks're gon'wanna meet'cha too, y'ken. Purdy li'l thing lahke yerself's gon'be cooed an' fret over." His words were kind, only, and would never insinuate anything sleazy, with the girl involved.

"Ain'raht cert'n why th'swamp's pissed," Kusu admitted, then, with a sort of lighthearted, nhilistic tone, "Ain'gon'n done shit fer it t'git all huffy over. J'st wants m'guts outta 'ere." Then, tugging on the reins to lead Ol' Fig over a few obstacles, he adds, "Been tryin' t'git outta th' daggum thing fer a week, now... Ain'been able t'do it. Keep gittin' brought back in, y'ken?"

Most people might have cringed skeptically with the thought of wrapping damp leaves and vines around one's hips, but not Zair. She thought the idea sounded exciting, and it was visible in her widening eyes.
"ooooh! Ah can't wait Ah can't wait! when'r we gunna git'em, huh?" she sang, bouncing slightly in her position. She was too young to recognize any sleazy implications anyways, and so the complete lack of them meant that it all went over well with the youngster. furthermore, the prospect of meeting more people like her and Kusu intrigued and excited Zair. People who looked like her, talked like her, and manipulated water like her (only better).

she kind of giggled at his story, because it sounded silly, and yet ironic.
"Well, th'swamp needs t'calm down an' take a'deep breath." she stated matter-of-factly, "tha's what th'nomads back east'd always tell me t'do when Ah got angry.  but thiz'a nahs place, Ah think... Ah kin see whah y'kant leave too well, uh?"
Now that she was here, Zair didn't really see a reason why she'd ever want to leave either. the nomads and gypsies back home were her friends, but she didn't have any real family to go to... so if she ended up here, or even with Kusu... chances were she'd be okay with that.

Kusu Sawamoto

Zair had the older swampbender chuckling again; more than he had in a good long while, since the swamp began rejecting him from its center. "Gon'wait t'find th'raht kinna tree," Kusu explained, "Ain'good fer 'em s'far out, y'ken? Y'needin' broad ol' leaves fer makin' clothes." Reaching up to brush at a low branch, with small clusters of leaves, he explained, "Y'see these 'uns 'r too li'l. We'll git'cha all set up soon 'nough, li'l darlin'."

The sort of leaves that Kusu had in mind were rather close to his Tribe, and so the odds that Zair would get to meet some of them was rather good.

The prospect of telling the swamp to take a deep breath, however... that had Kusu letting out a loud guffaw of laughter, unable to contain himself. "Aww shiet..." He chuckled, once the loudest of the laughter was over, reaching down to ruffle Zair's hair, "Yer raht, there, li'l darlin'... Th'murk needs ta take a big ol' daggum deep breath an'raht calm it's shit down."

It took him a little longer to calm down enough to smile once again, more lighthearted than before, and look around. "Reckon yer raht, 'bout th'swamp. S'raht purdy 'ere, fer daggum sure. J'st been'in such'a daggum hurry t'git'th'f - uh - git out, that Ah ain'been rememberin' s'well."

Zair nodded. "yeh, tha' makes sinse. gotta have big leaves so m'nethers ain't sticking out, yeh?" she laughed. Granted, naked humor was still kind of funny to Zair given her age, but that was just a natural quirk was all.
"okie dokie then." she nodded at his promise. She sat there excitedly, various things flowing through her little mind.

Laughter was contagious, and his guffaw had Zair in fits of her own little giggles. hers were tiny but still loud enough, and she had to hold herself to keep from flailing all the way off and into the muck below them.
"yeh..." she nodded, though was still laughing herself. her hair was thick and messy--very much the same kind of hair as most of the swamp people. "some'n needs t'go an' tell it."
it seemed logical enough to her. If it was alive and could get angry at people, then it needed to calm down, and the conventional methods should be able to work. Such were her thoughts.

"iss nahshere, aye." she smiled and agreed, once she calmed down. "Ah lahk stoppin' t'small the flow'rz 'r wutnot, kinda lahk th'old phrase.not that Ah didn' lahk th'desert... but this place is so much... much... much greener. Ah lahk green. it's kinda lahk mah eyes."

Kusu Sawamoto

Letting the ride proceed in silence, for a bit, Kusu finally ventured, "S'ya ended up wit'th'sand folk, an' now yer at th'swamp... Where're ya headin' after th'big ol' grand 'venture, li'l darlin'?" He was curious, mostly, on how the child managed to feed herself and survive, all on her own. She was adorable, which was both good, because folks would help her, but bad, because other folks might try to take advantage of her... Something that the swampbender was loathe to even consider.

Continuing, he added, "Coz seems ta me, jaw don'wanna git back t'th'dessert, y'ken? Ah've gotta git past th'dessert t'git outta th'swamp, fer whatever daggum reason, but Ah dont' know m'way through, y'ken?" Kusu glanced down at her, to make sure that she was following his reasoning, "S'y'ken m'not sure 'bout m'way 'round... Figgured y'c'maybe hitch'a ride wit'me." The offer was there, at least, for now.

After a moment of silence, Zair was posed an interesting question. What from here? Stay? go? continue westward till she reached the ocean? Maybe hit the Fire Nation or the Western Air Temple?
Nah... she'd probably end up doing something far simpler than that.
"Ah dunno." she shrugged in honesty, "Ah maybe thaught Ah'd stick 'round here 'r some'in maybe? Ah dunno; guess it kinda 'pends on what happens here, y'know?"

She had gotten here with the help of fellow travellers willing to let her accompany them on their journies, parting ways when their roads would take them different places. she had done very little of her journey alone in truths, so her safety was not an issue, except perhaps for bandits or miscreants who would wish to do the child harm for whatever twisted reason.

"Ah woodnt mahnd th'desert again," she shrugged, "but Ah just burly left... Ah dun wanna go back quaht so soon, y'know? wanna see a bit of th'swamps first, aye?" Yes, she had not left the desert because of anything she disliked there; she had simply wished to see the swamps that she heard so much about, and this wish was being granted.
"But if you wuz gonna go... maybe Ah could come with ya af'trall 'r some'in. If y'er okie wit havin me tag along... Ah'd love to stick with ya fer a bit."
Be it a long time or a short time, Zair would be okay with entertaining this idea. She just didn't want to impose herself under his care or anything. Zair was smart enough to know how to charm people, but also smart enough to know not to push her luck.

"Be righ' daggum silly fer m't'offer n'en'ta go'oan'n say 'no', y'ken?" Kusu laughed lightly, "Ain'sure if'n m'gon' be 'round fer long, but'cha kin sure'nuff stay wit'me fer s'long as s'needed. Lahke Ah w's sayin', th'swamp be'n wan'n me outta 'ere."

Despite his calm demeanor, the swampbender was dreading a very long stay in the murk. Truthfully, he had been hoping to be gone, by now, but he was constantly being brought back into the heart of the swamp, either by someone, or something. His sense of self preservation must be fairly low, he reasoned, if he was willing to let every traveler - not just this little girl - derail his plans.

Their path cut through the mud and muck fairly swiftly; soon, Kusu was offering a lazy wave to the occasional low-passing swampboat. Signs of impending contact with other people were all around them.

Zair giggled. "well, if y'wuz wan'-in t'git outta here, don't go ahead'n let a li'l kid lahk me stop ye." she joked, clearly not understanding just how long or how many times he had tried to leave the swamps. It certainly wasn't that she didn't care about this issue of his--she simply did not know about it.

Every now and again, little Zair would sing or hum a tune or two, because as an energetic little child, she was easily bored when it was just travelling unless there was a conversation or something going on.
"Howdy!" she'd wave to people in boats that they passed. she wasn't sure if they heard her or not, but it was easily clear that the little girl was in awe at seeing people that were... well, were like her.
"ey... ey!" she turned up and looked at Kusu excitedly. "so when kin' Ah get one'o 'dem leaf skirt thingies?" she tilted her head, "day looks nahce'n comfy if 'yask me." she giggled, speaking her little 9-year-old mind.
