Zuzerez Zenzi Zairza

Laughter was contagious--at least for little kids, and so his guffawing had her emitting little guffaws of her own to match, her smaller voice almost harmonizing his much older and deeper one.
"shucks... ain't notta problem!" she smiled, giggling as her hair was ruffled. "guess Ah'll watch 'em do th'stupid stuff till Ah'm older, yeh?" she chuckled.

she was in fact too young to know about the birds and the bees just yet or why men would do stupid things for women, but the idea still made her giggle again, and her child's mind didn't think too deeply about it luckily for Kusu., Thus, there would be a lack of inquiries regarding where babies came from... for now at least.

After pausing to assess her nourishment situation, Zair's little body concluded that it was full. she burped ("oopsie!") and then rubbed her stomach appreciativly. "Ah'm def'nitely full... 'tz so good though..." she smiled gratefully.  she had eaten a lot (how else did kids maintain that limitless energy?), but had stopped when she was full. Zair was a practical little gal, after all.

Kusu Sawamoto

"Watchin's a whole heap'n better'en doin', Aw'm thinkin'," Kusu agreed, standing up from his log-seat and offering a hand to help Zair do the same, "Aw think th'menfolk're gittin' ready t'have a bit've wrastlin'r turtle runnin' over yonder - y'wan'naw go'en watch?" It would be interesting, since they basically strapped turtle shells to their heads and ran full-tilt at one another, for fun.

Then, he added, "R' iff'n y'wan'naw, Ah think th'womenfolk're goan' be tellin' stories by th'fire?" Kusu generally watched the men do stupid shit - being that he was a man himself and thought that it was hilarious - but if Zair would rather listen to storytime, he would join her.

For a man who seemed so simple (and might have had a few bolts loose of his own), his words and advice seemed to be pretty convincing enough for the little youngster. she took his hand and nodded excitedly at his logic and at the suggestion. "aw'raht, that sounds fun!" she beamed, "Ah wanna see it!" she had no idea what it was, but she figured that she was about to find out.

Then he presented her a second option. "mmm... maybe Ah kin watch a couple 'o th'men do them stupid' stuff... 'n then maybe catch th'last couple o' stories, yeh?" the notion of doing both sounded the most appealing. She couldn't get enough of her new culture fast enough.

Kusu Sawamoto

The young girl had Kusu chuckling to himself, thinking about how it was just like a kid, to want to have a little bit of everything. "Aw'm thinkin' at'd be raht nice, li'l darlin'," the old swampbender agreed, keeping hold of Zair's hand, so that he could lead her over to the designated 'stupid shit' area, "Kin git laughin'en 'en git all calmed down ag'n. Better'en th'other way 'round, Aw reckon."

Said designated area was a long strip of surprisingly solid ground, near the edge of the fire pit area where they had eaten dinner - it had obviously been made for this specific purpose. There were poles at each end, sticking up out of the ground, that had been painted two different colors; red and blue. One man stood at each pole already, a single hand touching the painted wood and a turtle shell strapped carefully to their heads.

"Git'er done!" Kusu shouted, joining in the laughter and encouraging cries of the crowd. Then, to Zair, he began to explain, "Th'goal'a this'un is t'git yerself runnin' hard, hit th'other guy wit' yer head, 'en knock 'im int'th'mud over yonder..." The older swampbender pointed to the big mud pits on either side of the solid ground, that separated the crowd from the 'competitors', "Issit makin' sense?"

Zair wouldn't have realized it, but it was in fact getting a little late, so perhaps her order of things was for the best. it was hard to tell what time of day it was since the swamp floor saw so little of the sun thanks top the thick cover of foliage. It was a merry little place though, and thus Zair did not complain. Thus, it was probably a good idea to get Zair riled up and then calm her down rather than the other way around.

She took Kusu's hand and followed him with a small skip in her step towards this 'designated area'. The men did look rather funny with the great big turtle shells strapped to their heads, and already, her little mind just *KNEW* that this would be good. She put her little fists together with excitement, bouncing on her toes.

Zair sat down and listened to Kusu's explanation of just what the heck was going on here, and it made sense. "so they bang thar' headz 'gainst e'chuther? tha' sounds awesum!" she was definitely excited to see it, but thankfully to Kusu's relief she wouldn't ask to try it herself--well, not for another several years, at least.

Kusu Sawamoto

Before Kusu could explain or say anything else, the game had begun; both of the strapping young men began to run, shouting at the top of their lungs. As they grew closer together, they tilted, so that they were running head-first at one another... until they collided. Each one went flying and each one hit the mud with spectacular splashes, bringing forth cheers, hoots and hollers from the crowd, Kusu included. Really, it seemed that - at least for now - no one had a favorite; everyone just wanted to see a giant splash of mud.

Once several rounds had passed, each one ending with at least one splash, the old swampbender glanced down at Zair, deciding that it was probably better to have story time now. "A'ight li'l 'un," He had to half-shout, over the crowd, "S'git'jaw over t'th'story tahme now..." Reaching down, Kusu went to take the little girl's hand, to lead her back over to the fire pit, which would be a lot more quiet.

Zuzerez Zenzi Zairza

Zair had expected it to be exciting, but no. this was absolutely thrilling. This would definitely be something she would look into when she was older--not any time soon, as she was tiny and not very strong... but perhaps one day. She was hooting and cheering for both sides just like anyone else though. She liked the action and the mud and the crashing and everything else. Maybe it was just the kid in her, or maybe she'd be set to grow up that crazy. Then again, maybe Kusu could set her straight. Who knows...

Luckily, Zair was fairly cooperative at Kusu's suggestion, and so she smiled and held her hand for him to take. "a'raht," she beamed, "Ah wanna hear th'stories now anyhoo..." she followed him over to the fire pit, away from the noise, whicih was kind of relaxing in a way, although she giggled at hearing the sound of another collision growing fainter behind her.
She sat down, but beckoned for the older man to to the same. Story time was always much more fun when you had someone you could sit next to--or snuggle with, as the case may be. Not that Zair was tired... maybe a *little* teensy-weensy bit tired, but not about to fall asleep or nothin'. Naw... that'd be later. for now... storytime. ^^
