Nokomi

Nokomi stepped inside of the healer's for a moment, looking around for a second. An older gentleman seemed to recognize Zai, and then she stepped out. She didn't feel the need to be hovering about, and simply leaned against the wall next to the entrance, watching the citizens of Chin Village warily. She wasn't one to feel guilt or such, but she did realize that she'd been unnecessarily cruel to Zai. She wouldn't apologize, there was no way, but she hoped he did realize that it was nothing personal.

She sighed and sat against the wall, drawing little doodles in the dirt with her finger. The fact that she was still hanging around the other two was strange, and she didn't quite understand why herself. She just knew that for the moment, the idea of leaving and going back to living in solitude didn't appeal to her. She dug through her bag, finding her small canteen, and sipped a bit of water. The sun was slowly going down, indicating that it was late afternoon, almost evening, and she peeked her head inside of the healer's shop to talk to Loki. "I'm going to go search for a place to rest for the night. I'll be back shortly." She said quietly, and then paused. "Will you stay here, or come with me?" She added, deciding that some human interactions might help her social mannerisms a bit--and she could try being a little nicer to people--with a bit of practice, of course.

Loki

Loki was mildly creeped out by the quiet way Nokomi was talking and responded to her questions by shouting back, "You go ahead. I'll stay her and make sure Zai's side feels better." She looked over at him with a sad little face and then looked at Nokomi with a grin. "Have fun," she said with a wave.

Hakota-Zai

Zai looked over as Nokomi stepped out promptly. He looked back to the old man, who was motioning towards the back room. Zai had indeed been here a few times before, back when he had still lived at Kiyoshi Island. He would always end up in fights with the other Kiyoshi-- women could get mean. It wasn't until he had began his path of becoming a chi-blocking expert that he found he didn't get beat up by the women. Reflecting on this now brought agitation to Zai, not only the thought being so out of place, but also the idea he used to get beat by a number of teenage girls.

Nokomi poked back in for a moment, seeing if Loki would accompany her in her search for somewhere at which to rest for the night. Zai might've made a suggestion if his mind weren't deprived of blood, but Loki found it worthwhile to stay and see his wound through to it's healing. His mind hadn't much clarity to say anything but, "I'll be fine, Loki." He was unsure what he meant by this, but shifted weakly into the back room where the old man awaited him.

Nokomi

Nokomi nodded at Loki's response, and left the healer's, pulling her flute out of her bag. The poor paint job on it had finally been mostly scraped off, and she looked at it satisfied before she began to play soft, melodical notes as she walked. It had been a long while since she had the comfort of playing the flute--almost three years. While it brought back the pain of her sister Siri's death, it also made her feel peaceful, a feeling that she did not enjoy often. Whether this was because she didn't allow herself to be peaceful, or if it was truly something she had a hard time, she didn't know, nor care.

As she neared a group of kids, she finished playing, and stowed the flute in her pack. She then stopped them and asked them where the nearest inn was, stating that she was a weary traveler who needed a bit of rest. A particularly small child of the group responded eagerly, telling her that there was an inn not too far down the road. She smiled at the child and patted his head, before continuing along the road. Before long, she could see it up ahead, and stopped a moment to check if she had money to pay for three rooms. Satisfied that she did, she continued along, once again playing her flute. A rare, happy expression alighted her usual angry and serious visage as she neared the front steps of the small inn.

Dark hues took notice of Nokomi leaving the healer's building and venturing off on her own. The situation had become fortuitous given it could now be a one on one encounter; the other two were just there in case they had to meet group to group, but with that no longer being the case Tensei could reunite--approach the target by himself. Get it together, you have a mission. The General told himself as he shook off the sentimental thoughts that had been creeping in his head since he was assigned to the mission. He didn't like to believe in fate or anything of the sort though the coincidences were too strong to just be mere happenstance. Whatever the case now was the time for action.

"You two stay here, if her group leaves before I return, tail them." Instructed the man before setting off after Nokomi. She seemed rather distracted by her own flute playing to notice anyone was following her though when she stopped to talk to a group of children Tensei had to make a quick exit to some nearby vegetable stands in order to stay hidden. Some looked fresh, others not so much, and the smell of the decaying produce was none too pleasant. Luckily, the target had soon moved on and the tailing would begin once more to a location that the General had no knowledge of. He had been too far out of earshot to hear Nokomi's conversation with the children, though even if were close enough the sound of that damn flute playing for however long would have rendered his ears useless anyway.

He would tail the girl for a while longer before a building would show up in the distance, the probable destination. It seemed an inn of sorts and it then dawned on the young man that Nokomi had been tasked with finding lodging for the night and the conversation she had with the kids was for directions to said inn. There was no way to tell how long she would be tied up while attempting to acquire a room for her group so the time to strike was now. Tensei began to quickly close the distance between he and his sister before speaking. "Stop Nokomi, we need to talk." He stated while lowering the hood on his cloak. It had been years since the two had last seen each other, and while Tensei wanted to stick strictly to the business aspect of this mission he was ready for any emotional--personal parts that may have sprung up.

Nokomi

Nokomi turned slowly around, dropping her flute, not believing her own ears. "T-Tensei?" she asked in wonder, studying her brother's face. She couldn't be sure that this was real. When she could finally get a grip on the fact that this was reality, she spoke again. "It's really you, isn't it? You've finally shown up after two years. Finally remembered that little sister you ditched, huh?" she snarled.

She wasn't one to get emotional, but all of the hurt and betrayed feelings she felt towards her brother came flooding back. In a fit of rage, blinded by her tears, she blasted a flurry of flames at her brother with low growls before turning away from him and running up the trunk of a nearby tree, grabbing a large branch with her hand. She launched herself from bough to bough, running away from him through the trees, headed back to the healer's. She had been lying to herself these past two years, she wasn't ready to face her brother. Not yet, anyway. And the fact that he just so happened to be in Chin Village on the same day she was rang a suspicious note in her mind. He might as well have been a stranger to her, that was how much she trusted him.

Hakota-Zai

The elderly man laid Zai upon a comfortable, clean bed in the hind room. Here, he lay on his front, his wounded side best exposed. It merely took a moment before to remove his shirt and cloak. Loki was let into the room to watch the ongoings as she pleased.

The old man got to work immediately, retrieving what seemed to be a small urn and a few odd cloths and solutions. He first set aside most of these, favoring a solution, and removing some of the urn's contents: a fine sand of white. This sand went straight to the wound, the elder spilling some of a solution onto it. Zai grunted as the wound was filled with the sand, and then bended back out. Splintered remnants of the arrow that had pierced him slowly came out with each round of sand.

Painful was an apt word to describe it, but Zai was already in a weakened, pained state. This numbed him as the older gentleman cleansed the wound, not a drop of blood spilling in the process. After a few moments, the man quickly covered Zai's wound with a bandage, the sand sealing into the loose cloth to make a strangely flexible membrane that's keep the wound from bleeding. It clung to the skin as if fusing with Zai's flesh, though it seemed the mercenary felt no pain in this. The process was simple, really, and swift at that. It did not heal the wound, but dressed it so it would not worsen and could heal of its own.

Zai sighed, sitting up on the bed as the healer granted him a cup of tea. "For the soul, while the body heals itself," he stated as Zai accepted the gesture. It would have been at this time, now that Zai was rising to leave, leaving as many coins as he could for the old friend, that Nokomi, to the ignorance of both Loki and Zai, was being chased back to the healer's place.

Zai stepped out first, wounds dressed and mildly healed, but still weary and weakened. There he waited for Loki to leave as well.

Loki

Loki watched the healer do his work with little interest. The process was fascinating, but she couldn't see most of it, so she left herself to studying Zai's body. It was scarred all to hell, and Loki really wanted to ask him about it. She decided that she would, but later. Right now he was in pain, and it probably wasn't the best time for life stories. Loki was very curious though and didn't know how long she could hold the question in. The process was soon over and Zai was given some tea. Why didn't the man give her any tea? They left the healer's, Zai's with a dressed wound and Loki with a broken heart. And frustration. Was she not good enough to get tea? The new trouble was enough to push Loki's question about Zai's scars out of her mind, as she pondered the various reasons why she might not be good enough for tea. She looked at Zai's mouth, wondering how it tasted. She licked her lips in jealousy. Suddenly, Loki's favorite firebender burst out of a tree and into another.

"Hey! Look at that! Wonder if she's running or exercising." Loki cantered while pointing to the trees. She wasn't really wondering though. Her facial features were caught in a mix of fear and intrigue, and she wondered what could cause such a hurried flight. Did have something to do with the smoke in the distance? Her curiosity was peaked.

The anger in Nokomi's voice was justified and there was no response that would undo all the damage that been done. However, that conversation would be for another time as his mission came first; though separating the two would prove to be an interesting endeavor. Before any more words could escape either of their mouth's the sky lit up due to the flames erupting from Nokomi. Tensei would have preferred not to give his identity as a fire bender away in the middle of the Earth Kingdom but if he wanted to avoid being burned there was little choice at this point. With a powerful step forward the General would whip both of his arms forward unleashing a torrent of fire that would cancel out his sisters. The ensuing smoke would more than likely draw a crowd in a few minutes, and Tensei had no intentions of sticking around.

The sound of feet bouncing off of tree branches alerted the man to his targets location who was making a hasty getaway in the tree line. With no affinity for tree-hopping Tensei would stick to the flattened path in his pursuit which was headed back in the direction of the healer's house. The smoke would surely alert Tensei's men to the happenings and he hoped that they would be ready to act when he returned. Attempting to talk Nokomi out of of her rage as she traversed the trees probably wouldn't work and would surely lead to more attacks, and with the pair getting ever closer to the center of the village he didn't want to endanger the lives of innocents, and more importantly alert the rest of her group. They would probably act with as much haste as Nokomi which would only lead to more trouble, and worst case scenario the two groups dueling it out in the middle of the village.

Nokomi

Nokomi saw Zai and Loki down below, and hurried past them, a dark blur against the line of sun-lit greenery. She grabbed a branch and slipped down the trunk of a tree, running towards them. They had to get out of there. Now.

"We....have to leave....now!" she said, panting heavily. Putting her hands on her knees for a second, she caught her breathe before looking up at the two of them and saying in a rush, "I don't have time to explain! Let's go!" She then turned, perched herself in another tree, and began bounding away, not waiting for their answer. The feeling of branch after branch passing under her hands and feet was strangely reassuring, and she decided to give Tensei a little message--he'd understand that she didn't want to talk to him one way or another.

She pulled out her bow and loaded an arrow, aiming for the corner of an old building. It was obviously abandoned, and she really didn't think the people of Chin Village would mind if she took the unsightly beast down. She lit the feathers on the arrow on fire, and let it loose. It hit its mark perfectly, and she didn't stick around to watch the building become kindling for her small flame. She turned tail and continued through the branches, frightening a few small animals along the way.

Hakota-Zai

Mid-sip of his tea, Nokomi rushed to be before them. She quickly explained they needed to leave immediately. Zai merely sighed in response, swiftly taking in the rest of his tea in one motion-- the heat of it nearly burned his throat, but he was about to run with a wound and the burning sensation would distract him from the pain. At least this time the wound could not reopen and bleed further beneath the semi-flexible membrane. It'd still feel like crap.

Nokomi took off, and Zai assumed Loki would as well, but he could neither hop through trees, fly, or even earth skate as he normally would try. All he did was ran off in the same direction Nokomi had -rather he half ran half stumble- his wound slowing him to a jog of his. With Hakota's natural speed, a jog of his usually could match pace with most runners, though not quite so while running with a sealed arrow hole in his side.

Hakota panted from the effort, but would keep running, too exhausted to earth glide or to dash, not even taking notice of the abandoned house Nokomi set to the flame. This means he'd not chide her upon it at a later time. He barely even realized he was still holding the ceramic tea mug in his hands.

Loki

Loki took her sail out, grabbed each corner, and was about to take off, when she noticed Zai just...jogging. She floated over to him and tried to look as relaxed as possible.

"Man. Flying is so nice." Loki yelled with an exaggerated tone, "Would you like a lift? Your wound just got treated, wouldn't want any bigger problems." Loki looked behind her and noticed some people were hot on Nokomi's tail. Of course, Nokomi was pretty far ahead by now. She looked at Zai's sad little job with the face of a concerned mother. "You're coming whether you want to or not." Loki decided. She flew over Zai's head and started trying to grab him with her legs, but it was rather hard. Maybe Zai would get sick of getting kicked accidentally and just grab on.

What his sister lacked in conversation skills she made up with in speed and apparently the ability to jump through trees. Though she had begun to pull away from Tensei the two who had tagged along for this mission were farther up ahead and would make sure to take note of her direction to continue the chase. As he neared the town he noticed the remaining two in her group were also making their leave, with one seemingly flying while the other hobbled; it was quite the site actually. The General would meet up with his two men a bit past the healers building in full stride who quickly filled him in on what direction his sister was headed, though the two who had traveled with her were in his sights and would surely lead Tensei right to her.

The burning house seemed primed to fall at any moment which was something the soldier had no intentions of sticking around for. Instead, he would lead his group far to the left to avoid the situation all together, and once clear of the building which had surely crumbled to pieces by now, would continue on the path. Attempting to get any of their attention at this point would be a difficult task, and Tensei didn't want to start an international incident in the middle of the Earth Kingdom which left either continuing to tail the group or shouting them to a stop in an effort to explain what all was going on.

"Hey you two, I know this looks bad but I'm just trying to have a conversation with Nokomi... my sister!" He shouted at the pair in front of him while simultaneously blurring the line between mission and personal task. Tensei felt this necessary to establish valid reasoning as he doubted that in her haste to escape his sight she had failed to explain what exactly she was running from.

Nokomi

Nokomi looked back to see how close the others were, and saw Tensei yelling something at them. 'No, no no no....damnn!" she muttered to herself, but didn't move from her perch. She simply watched the others, noting Zai's struggle and silently cursing herself for not thinking of his wound but didn't dare to go any closer to her traitor of a brother. She hoped the others would realize that she was running for a reason, and that they'd best get away from him. She sighed, and snaked through the leaves and branches of her tree until she was poised near the top, well hidden from sight but able to see the others clearly. From here, she pulled out her bow, loaded an arrow, and aimed it straight for Tensei. It was just a precaution, she wasn't quite sure if she'd be able to actually hurt her brother, but if he made a false move towards either Loki or Zai....well, then she'd find out just what she was capable of.

Hakota-Zai

Zai took a moment to realize Loki was practically flailing her legs to try and lift him from the ground. No easy task with the mercenary stumbling like a buffoon trying to outrun a sabre-tooth tiger-moose. He tried to reach up and grab her legs so he might help her wrap them about his torso. If he had the strength he might've just grabbed on and let her fly, but such might prove fatal with his current state.

As it were, the very thing that he was trying to compensate for doomed him to failure. As he attempted to help Loki lift him, he tripped upon his own feet and fell to the ground, his hand- still gripping Loki- nearly taking her with him before he let go and allowed himself to tumble.

He sprawled to a halt, painfully trying, and twice failing, to get up on his feet. He motioned towards Loki now. "Just go! I'll slow you down. I'll take care of myself," he shouted, motioning to the north, trying to hide the motion from those in chase of the trio. "Why'd it have to be while I was wounded, of all times," he thought to himself, spiting the fact that if he'd been in fit shape, all of the three would have been just fine to escape.

He'd struggle to get up once Loki left and turn to face the three that approached now. The man seemed to call out that Nokomi was his sister, but Zai knew some people would lie through their teeth to even get a slight advantage. The wounded mercenary had no choice but to go along with it. He raised his hands out towards them to show he held no weapons.

Loki

Zai finally tried grabbing on, but seemed to stumble from pain or delirium. He dragged Loki down for a bit until her let go. Loki realized that getting Zai to fly with her was hopeless and landed next to him.

"Just go! I'll slow you down! I'll take care of myself!"

Loki put her hand on Zai's shoulder, gripping it with a bit of force, "Oh come off it, I ain't leaving you yet." Loki looked around wondering what Anaja would be doing right now. Wasn't it her job to stop stuff like this from happening? As the pursuers approached, the leader claimed to be Nokomi's brother. Loki didn't believe it and trusted that Zai didn't either. She did a large, extravagant, mock bow and shouted over, "Oh great brother of Nokomi, you honor us with your presence!" Sarcasm dripped from every word. "Nokomi has told us so much about you! You know her, she's a real talker. Can't stop telling us about her life, you know? Oh, do tell us what brings us this honor!" The last word was stressed to new heights of drama, to prove she was mocking him. She didn't have her usual smirk though, this situation was complicated and dangerous.

The injured member of Nokomi's group seemed to have trouble being aided by the flying one due to his injury, which was something that could have aided Tensei had he any intention of fighting the trio, but since he didn't it served little purpose. Raised arms gave way to a second member of his sisters group stopping to aid the injured Zai, though she seemed a chip off the sarcastic block given the immense amount of bull-hockey that was spewing out of her mouth. Tensei didn't want to deal with these two as it would slow him down considerably.

However, the thought of stopping to actually talk to them and explaining the situation would possibly work. The chances of that working would be slim if the airbender continued her sarcastic ways, and the injured one might have been too delirious from his injury to pay attention. Nevertheless, getting around the two would not be an easy task in the least which made talking the only option left it seemed. The trio would slowly come to a halt a decent distance away from the pair, a slighted look given to the female before turning his attention to the male. "Your female companion's sarcasm aside, my words are true. She wouldn't have made mention of me because I left a few years back." He flatly said to the two.

"Not my proudest moment, but something that I intend to mend in due time. However, this was not the reason I came looking for Nokomi. She has certain talents that the military would like to utilize... with compensation if need be." The last part was thrown in purely for interest's sake. With each passing second Nokomi surely put more distance between herself and Tensei, though if he could convince the two standing in front of him to aid in his search then there wouldn't be as much of a problem tracking her down.

Nokomi

Before her very eyes, she saw Tensei beginning to speak with the two. She growled and put the arrow back in her quiver, strapping her bow to her back. She wasn't about to talk to Tensei or anything, it's just that she needed to know what was going on down there. Moving as silently as she could, she moved from branch to branch, until finding one that was connected to another tree, closer to her...friends. If one could call them that. She inched closer, able to hear the last part of Tensei's speech.

"...talents that the military would like to utilize...with compensation if need be," she heard, and instantly realized that her brother was not here to reunite with the sister that he had wronged. He was here to take her away...which meant that he was a soldier. She silently cursed herself for being so stupid, actually thinking that he had enough emotions to feel ever so slightly guilty for betraying her. She pulled out her bow, angry now, and loaded two arrows. She sent them flying a second later, the string making a small twang as the arrows whistled through the air, aimed straight for Tensei's companions.

She slid down the trunk of her tree, still quite angry, and tied her bow to her back before loosening up her arm-whips. She didn't care that she was interrupting the conversation, she only cared that Tensei wanted to take her from all she'd ever known so that she could be just like him--not have a mind of her own, but bend to the will of others. Well, boy, was he in for a fight if he thought she was just going to come quietly.

Hakota-Zai

Despite Hakota's urging for Loki to abandon him, she remained and even helped him up to his feet. In his strange fatigue, he found this to be strange. He hadn't taken her for the loyal type. He turned weakly to face the men who now were close, but stopped before them. He glared upon them with his one good eye, slumped over and looking helpless. He did have some strength in him, but he decided it best to hide what little strength he had in him for the moment. Not that it'd do him much good alone.

Loki gave another bombastic act of sarcasm. One he found he was inclined to agree with, but in the hopes they wouldn't die, moreso Loki wouldn't die because he was nearly useless for the moment, he listened intently to the man. "Look... Soldier... You move like a soldier... Talk like one too... Fire Nation, I bet," his words were weak and hard for him to utter properly in his exaggerated meekness. "I don't care... If you're Nokomi's father, brother, whatever.... She runs from you with reason.... So pardon if I am hesitant to believe you," he finished with some effort, watching as Nokomi now approached from her hidden spot in the trees.

"Damn it!" Zai thought quietly. "If this ends in a losing fight, I'll have it on my conscious for an eternity." He felt that they were dragged down by him. But he'd owe them one for sticking their necks out for his weakness when they could have more easily run. All he knew was that he was unfit for a fight, and wished to avoid conflict as much as he could. He thanked the ceramic designs of the three weapons hidden beneath his cloak, easy to earthbend into his hands in a moment's notice-- a blade and two kiyoshi-style fans.

*****In the distance*****

Anaja had, indeed, not gone far by the time things had begun to unfold. She was investigating the smoke and flame near a local inn when another fire started not far away. She rushed towards the scene, but while swift, the other two groups had a good lead on her, and she had no clue of what could possibly be going on. Immediately she knew Zai had to be involved in some way, and the girl mustered all of the speed a Kiyoshi Warrior could. She was foolish, however, not to notify those more able to aid in the situation and was running head first towards a situation she knew nothing about.

Loki

The trio was back together, and Loki slipped her dagger out of it's holding. She looked at Tensei, wondering what his move would be. It didn't seem that her or her friends were willing to start things off. Loki began floating off the ground slightly, out of habit more than anything. She furrowed her brows and shouted,

"You can't win. We're much better than you." Loki's arrogance was now transposed to the entire group as she'd accepted them into a family of sorts. Loki was prideful and greedy, but she had loyalty going for her. She knew that powerful friends were the best things to have around, and the way to keep them was through trust and tenacity. She flicked the dagger down into a stabbing position, using her left hand to move it. She didn't want to drop it doing a cool flipping trick now.

The twang and subsequent whistling of the arrows was more than enough to signal their incoming, and the two who had tagged along with Tensei made symmetrical spins before pushing their arms at an upward angle which sent out a stream of fire that, if not completely burning the arrows to a crisp would alter their trajectory enough to where they would not be an issue.

Their was obvious hesitation from the injured member of Nokomi's group which changed little in the big scheme of things. Though his assumptions of Tensei being a soldier were correct that didn't mean he was a ruthless killing machine; the General had decent speaking skills. He wasn't sure whether to respond or help the man up as he looked a few moments from keeling over in the middle of the path, but better judgement would tell him not to do so.

He would once again ignore the female's words as she had not heeded the memo of adult conversations. Tensei had no intention to fight, simply to talk, and he planned to see it through unless there were more unsolicited attacks. Which, judging from how eager the air-bender was to use the dagger in her hand, was definitely a possibility.

"All understandable. Nokomi and I's past has not been a smooth one, but I come not on matters of family, and if she took the time to listen instead of waste arrows then this conversation would end more quickly." He replied, the last part directed solely at his sister. Tensei knew she would be mad and wanted little to do with him, though there would be time to deal with that later. At the moment he was a representative of the Fire Nation who had a job to do, and he would do it well.

Nokomi

Her bow in hand, Nokomi stared coldly at her brother--if one could even call him that. She snorted as he said that he wasn't there on matters of family; of course he wasn't. Family didn't mean anything to him. "Whatever you're here for, I'm not interested. At all. I'm all for this conversation ending quickly, but I won't stand here and listen to you twist words so that I'll do what you want. I'm not that naive little sister you once had anymore. I know your tricks, and your lies. You can't fool me." she stated harshly, her voice ringing clearly through the air, even as she spoke quietly. Nokomi hardly ever spoke louder than a half-whisper, but that didn't mean she was never heard.

She came to stand by Loki, strapping her bow to her back and taking up her stance. While she was a hardly acceptable firebender, she still knew her stances and forms--and her stances were especially exemplary, as she stood as firm as a rock. She could practically hear her arm-whips begging her to allow them to take the fools Tensei had brought with him, but she hardly wanted a fight--especially with Zai injured. While she had no doubt that he could still hold his own against a companion of Tensei, she still didn't think it was a good idea. And she would hate trying to protect him from her stupid mistakes.

Instead, she whispered out of the corner of her mouth hurriedly, her lips hardly moving. "Loki, can you take Zai somewhere safe? I don't think Tensei's going to leave willingly, and Zai's already injured. He should know where to go--it's obvious he knows this area." She didn't really expect Loki to listen, as it was apparent that Loki did what she willed when she willed it, but Nokomi really hoped that she would listen to this simple thing--she didn't want to be responsible if further harm came to Zai.

Hakota-Zai

Loki flaunted their skills, apparently trying to start a fight, not avoid one. Zai didn't need this further detail to know the airbender followed little of the bending philosophies. At least not in a common sense of the beliefs, anyways. And Tensei spoke still of a deal Zai wondered if the man would ever get around to mentioning what it was exactly what he was here to deal with Nokomi about. Perhaps he was even delirious and was merely unaware if the task had even been mentioned. He opened his mouth to inquire, but his hesitation lead to his jaw snapping closed as Nokomi spoke. She expressed a particular disinterest in whatever he had come to speak of, no matter what it was.

Zai, however, was somewhat curious about the soldier's purpose with Nokomi. And then something he would most often agree with came to light: fleeing in the face of unfavorable odds. And he did indeed know the area quite well. It'd been near half a decade, but little changed in such villages. He found two inherent and large problems with this, though. The first needn't be voiced: Loki's predictable refusal to this notion. The second, though; "I'd love to.... Given my wound... But as I see it, trying to fly away.... On a canvas sail at that... With a dead load... Would be unwise in the face of three firebenders," he said in a hushed tone as he turned back two them, "And I'd like not to fall to my death... Asides... He doesn't seem to want a fight just yet. Perhaps we can hear him out?"

**********Anaja**********

The Kiyoshi girl had finally come about, stopping at the edge of a building near. The voices were unclear, but a swift, timid peek about the corner revealed Zai and his two... Friends-she recalls he had mentioned them as such- were at some form of stand of with three shady men. One seemed to speak for the three whilst the other two held their stance. Even a moderately experienced Kiyoshi knew the stances of firebenders. Her heart secretly longed for earthbending to help stomp out these men who seemed to be readily hostile towards Zai and his two companions.

But nobody made a move to start a fight yet; yes the airbending girl hovered lightly with a dagger in hand and the other girl held her own firebending stance like the two opposing men, yet no fire flew, and no bled was quite shed to her knowledge. Still, she figured now was her best shot at trying to intervene-- "Dang!" she thought to herself as she realized she had no reinforcements aside from the trio she wanted to aid. She guessed she'd just have to be bold and hope she could at least drive off the shady firebenders and their leader-- she assumed him to be. She took a deep, calming breath and stepped out from behind the building, leaping forward to be an even distance from the two groups, pulling out her fans as she did so.

She was of little clue what to do, so she merely took the Kiyoshi stance of intimidation, and spoke out in the most audible, level tone she could,
"Halt! You foreigners are suspect for disruption of local property! In the name of the Chin Defense branch of the Kiyoshi Legion, I demand for you to cease hostilities until reinforcements a-arrive." She hadn't meant to falter in her voice, breaking what little authority she could voice. She did he best to make up for this by broadening her fans positions, leaning forward more and widening her stance to better intimidate the three. She was clueless to the fact that she wasn't really helping the situation at all. Such might have been different had she followed protocols and sent for reinforcements beforehand.

Loki

Loki was about to deny Nokomi's request to escape with Zai, when he did it for her. She was sure they could win this fight and knew she'd be at a disadvantage while flying away. She'd probably just get shot down. Zai voiced all of this for her, and Loki looked at the trio again. They seemed quite sure of themselves, and with Zai injured, the fight was a little more like 3 on 2. Loki subtly stepped in front of Zai in case their opponents tried to take out the weak link first. She looked at him reassuringly, but she thought about her own prowess. Loki was an incredibly weak airbender, only able to use it for silky and sly movements, any kind of powerful bending was incredibly difficult. She could assassinate, but in a head on fight like this, Loki would not be as powerful as a trained Fire Nation soldier. And now the fight seemed more like 3 on 1. Loki didn't let her hopelessness show on her face though. She still looked confident and arrogant as usual.

Suddenly Anaja appeared out of nowhere. 3 on 2, maybe Loki and Zai made up a full person, so that would be 3 on 3. The fight did not look so one-sided now. Anaja seemed a bit nervous and out of her depth, but Loki did not doubt her Kyoshi training and expected her to be an adept combatant. The thought that a fight might not happen never occurred to Loki. The world did not seem to work that way.

Was she so blinded in rage to not even hear out the proposition? It seemed that was the case given her statement, though if she truly wanted her brother out of the way she would have continued running. But she stopped which meant deep down somewhere there was a part of her that wanted to hear her brother out. Tensei was aware of this fact and utilize the opportunity to actually explain what the offer was. He hoped that her companions would now believe that the two were related, albeit a bit one-sidedly, but kin none the less. "If you had no intentions of listening to me you would have continued running. I understand that you are mad and rightly so, but this offer transcends our family squabble for the time being. All I ask is that you make your judgement after hearing it." He replied in his usual tone that held little emotion to it.

Though he could not hear what the trio were whispering Tensei remained alert for any signs of attack. The air bender seemed far too eager to start an international conflict, and Nokomi would more than likely follow suit. While the General had no intentions of his own to attack the group, especially since they were already down a person, he would defend himself by whatever means necessary.

Then came a voice from his opposite side that held little authority considering how shaky it was. "Tch, another distraction." He muttered under his breath as he took notice of the painted warrior. She was odd looking for sure, but hopefully not stupid enough to attack. His gaze returned to the three standing before him as one of his companions kept an eye on the Kiyoshi warrior.
