| OOC: Thank you, Zai. And shit guys, sorry for the super long post...guess I got carried away. XD Nokomi
| She sneered at her brother with contempt plainly written on her face, her stance still rigid. Although she was a horrible firebender, she knew that her anger would provide her talent that she normally did not possess. Any man who left his family, for any reason, disgusted her; in her eyes, they didn't deserve to live. "I didn't come back because of YOU. I came back because I would never abandon someone just because I have myself to think of," she stared at Tensei coldly, her words obviously suggesting the fact that she was nothing like him.
"I don't--" she began, and then was interrupted by Anaja's voice. She'd know it anywhere, as something about Anaja made her...she didn't know what it was. She just didn't like something about Anaja....she was, admittedly, a little intimidated by the girl's attractive face and perky behavior. Nokomi could never manage to be that way; while her features weren't horrid, she didn't consider herself pretty. She also knew that she wasn't exactly someone most people enjoyed being around.
But Anaja's voice had lost it's perky noisiness, now rather timid and it was apparent that she was not used to commanding others. Nokomi snorted, then glared back at her brother. "Well, my dear big brother, so brave and strong," she said, sarcasm dripping from her acidic tone, "seeing as how I'm not interested in what you have to say at all, you should go. Now. Because it's not like anyone here WANTS you around," she finished with a growl, ignoring Anaja completely, as she had before when the girl had first appeared. She clenched her jaw, working to control her anger, because at this point it was all she could do to not challenge her brother to an Agni Kai. Preferably to the death, although she knew that she would probably lose that battle. Her skills as a firebender were weak, and only through her anger would she be able to manage not being completely obliterated.
So instead, she openly let him see the disgust on her face, then turned to her two.....friends, mainly to check on Zai's condition. Only once she had ascertained that he was still well enough to stand did she finally direct her attention to the Kyoshi girl, once again feeling a pang of some emotion that she couldn't quite place yet.

----------Anaja---------
The Kiyoshi girl could not believe it. She had been completely ignored by everyone. Even the baddies took no heed of her. She was frozen in anger at the mere idea of it. That she not only was ignored like a stain, but that in the end she was not in a position of authority without backup. Not only so, but she'd completely failed to put across an command over the situation. Did she really have any?
She played the scenario over and again in her head. She'd fought firebenders before, but only two at most when she was alone. Could she depend on Zai and his friends for aid? She had no clue what any of them could do, and Zai's wound would prevent him from doing much in a battle, even though Anaja could see in her years of knowing the Mercenary that he was faking it to some degree or another. Perhaps more over-emphasizing rather than faking. She tried to determine all the possibilities, and to remain calm and controlled, but there was no hope for her situation, and all she could do is remain in stance and hope nothing terrible happened. She mentally punished herself for being so reckless.
Asides, it seemed they had something important going on, which further intiimidated the painted warrior from interrupting further.
----------Hakota-Zai----------
Zai could do little, himself, but absently stare upon his friend from his youth. The conversation was between Nokomi and Tensei now. The best he'd manage is to gather his strength for what seemed to him like an inevitable fight. He wagered he could take one out before his wound got the best of him. Perhaps even he could use his wound as a trap, and bait one of the benders in close... But he'd have to wait and see what might come, and he breathed deeply and deliberately as he listened, and waited.

Loki was very curious about what Tensei was here for, but no one else seemed to care. She realized it wasn't her place though, and she continued to float, taking a more casual position while picking at her nails with her dagger. These deliberations weren't as exciting as before. All they'd discovered is that Tensei is probably an awful person, but they already knew that. Loki covered her mouth as she breathed an uncontrollable yawn. It wasn't loud enough to notice, but it attested to Loki's boredom. It wasn't her turn right now, she'd just listen and wait.

| It was plain to see that Nokomi had let her rage blind her from sensible thought and it would be a cold day in the Fire Nation before she came to her senses anytime soon. He sighed at the thought while taking note of who all had joined the little shindig. His sister and her two companions, one of which who seemed prime to keel over at any moment, while the other was far too eager to fight though she must have gotten tired of being ignored as she was no longer spouting nonsense. Then there was the painted warrior standing on his other side who didn't have much experience in tense situations by herself, solely judging from the shakiness in her voice a few moments prior.
Tensei had no intentions of dragging any of these people back to the Fire Nation, dead or alive, but as Nokomi was acting more stray cat than human there seemed to be little choice in the matter. The wounded one would be easy to take and there was a chance that someone would be foolish enough to step in front of him leading to a two-for-one. With enough effort the warrior would hopefully be scared off leaving just one: Nokomi. Needless to say Tensei would handle that himself, though to be honest the entire scenario was starting to give him a head ache.
"You speak as if your words are meant to pierce. They do not. I live with my decision each and every day, so do not lecture me on how self-righteous you are." He spoke while shifting his eyes around to survey the area. The General raised two fingers as he and his companions turned to leave, the warrior completely ignored as they began to walk in her direction. "We found you once, and we can find you again. Next time, be prepared to speak like a civilized human. It's unbecoming to throw around insults."
The mission was not a failure, but more put on hold. Tracking his sisters movements was not difficult but would require a bit more finesse in the future if Tensei had any hopes of actually getting Nokomi to hear him out. Siblings were always such a pain in the ass. | |

| Noko smiled as Tensei left, strapping her bow to her back again. "Well, that was exciting," she said, uncharacteristically cheerful. She knew her brother wouldn't quit--even when they were young, he'd never been a quitter--but for the time being, she could ignore the fact that he existed. Maybe even have a little fun, since she'd finally done what she'd vowed to her sister's memory--she found Tensei. Or rather, Tensei had found her, but she was sure that it didn't matter either way.
She grinned at the other two, "I'll go get those rooms, now," and then sauntered off, leaving the two behind. It didn't take long to get to the inn, and she opened the front door just as the sun was starting to go down, alighting the sky with magnificent colors. She took a moment to smile at the sunset, then stepped inside, a small bell ringing overhead. The inn keeper was a grumpy man, probably around his forties, with a large belly. She paid for three rooms, and as their price was cheaper than anticipated, she also paid for breakfast to be brought to them in the morn. The man grumbled at this, then handed her the room keys. She gave him a dazzling smile, her happy expression a rare one, and it greatly improved her features. She left with a small wave, and he sort of half-waved back at her, and she then went to find her friends, wherever they were at the moment. She strongly doubted that they would have just stood there, awaiting her return.

Just as Zai had been prepared for a fight, even what little he could have contributed, Tensei gave up the idea of initiating combat. In fact, he even turned to leave? Zai thought this strange; it had previously seemed Tensei had most the advantage. At least partially.
One shouldn't complain, though. With Zai so meek now, it was a relief that a fight did not break out. But were Tensei to come again and Zai be there to defend Nokomi, he'd find he may regret his decision not to use force, no comment nor complaint would be worded from Zai. He was all for having the better arm at a later date. All he could do otherwise was wait and watch. Tensei's group made right for Anaja, who had the better judgement to stand aside and get a good look at the trio's faces. It was easily predicted she'd have her old friend make ink-posters of the three to put up around Chin village. That was another time, though.
For the moment, the threat was dissipating, as with the tensions. Zai relaxed some, and watched as Nokomi took off to secure their rooms. He sighed in wait, breathing deep to maintain his strength. Anaja even approaching him to wrap an arm about him, keeping his own weight from weakening him further. He was getting better, but slowly; the stress and tension does not do well for one so weakened already by a wound just sealed.
"Well... That's just 'bout interesting... We should like to ask Nokomi what 'xactly just happened..." he said, likely to Loki, but seemingly in such a respect as if he spoke to himself. He was tired, and just wanted to rest. His wounds and body demanded so. Even still, he actually wouldn't have care to wait in place or otherwise, so long as he didn't need to move great amounts.

Loki was pretty sure Hakota needed rest, so she decided she'd take them to the room they now had. She didn't take into account whether Zai actually wanted to move and started poking him.
"Oi! Zai! We gotta get to the room, then you can lay down all you want. This road isn't comfy at all. Come on, I'll try to carry you if you want," She, of course, did not wait for Hakota's opinion. And began picking him up, using airbending to make him lighter. She was doing it like she'd pick up a baby, so not pressure was put on his wound really. It was hard, but Loki managed it. She also put herself on a draft of air. It was nice airbending could make anything she wanted lighter, it was useful all the time. They made it to inn and Loki looked around for Nokomi.

| Nokomi wasn't far from the inn, and spotted the two in the dying light. Was...was Loki carrying Zai? Noko laughed aloud and ran up to then, smiling. She let them know that she'd rented three rooms and that breakfast would come in the morning, then opened the door and headed inside, showing the two to their rooms and handing them the keys so that they could get in. She was rather exhausted, but happy, with the day's events and headed straight to her room. She changed out of her clothes quickly and slid in between the cool sheets of the soft bed. She was happy with the room, and she closed her eyes with a peaceful expression upon her face.
But ten minutes went by, and she wasn't asleep. She turned over onto her side and closed her eyes again, but still couldn't fall asleep. Probably because she wasn't used to sleeping so early in the night. She always slept four to six hours a night, but this was before dawn, usually after midnight. It was simply too early for her to sleep, so with a grumble and a sigh, she put her clothes back on and left her room, shutting the door lightly behind her, heading to the main entrance to the inn. There were tables set about, and a few people were drinking here and there, but it wasn't overly full, so she went and sat down at a table and watched the room with a bored expression on her face. Tired as she was, her body just wouldn't allow her to sleep.

Zai was far too out of it to really argue nor struggle with Loki's decision to carry him. He was like a limp kitten carried by a hawk at the moment, especially with how light he was despite his height and how bulky he seemed with the loose clothing he wore.
The rest was a haze, as he kinda faded out from trying to pay attention. He vaguely noted Anaja was following them below as they flew. Eventually, they were at the inn, and Zai was lead to his room with a key. Next thing he knew he was in his bed... Was somebody in the bed with him? He pondered this in the brief moments he was conscious and fell right to sleep in his exhaustion, Anaja comforting him as she laid aside him, perhaps taking advantage of his weakened state. Though not in any extreme ways. Either way, Zai wasn't awake to notice.

Loki had carried Zai all the way to his room, put him lightly on the bed, and left. Anaja stayed with him, so Loki wasn't worried about Hakota dying overnight or something. She'd been shown her room, but the sun had just set, and she wasn't ready for bed. She went to the bar and started drinking some drink. It was alright. She spotted Nokomi coming down the stairs. She sat at a table, apparently not seeing Loki. Loki snuck into the dark shadows of the wall and floated over to her.
She whispered in Nokomi's ear, "Hellooooooo" as creepily as she could muster. She settled into the chair next to her and said, "What're you doing up?"

| Nokomi didn't even flinch when she heard the soft voice whisper in her ear. She recognized the voice. Then Loki sat down across from her, inquiring what she was still doing awake. "Couldn't sleep. You?" she answered simply as a waitress came over, asking what they'd like to drink. Noko had been to few taverns in her life, as she was only seventeen, but she ordered a bottle of straight licuor. The waitress went and got this without waiting for Loki's response and set it on the table with a smack. Noko thanked her grimly and popped the bottle open, taking a large swig before staring back at Loki, her happy mood once again destroyed by the fact that she couldn't get to sleep and it was pissing her off.

Loki snorted and said, "The sun just went down, why would an alley-walker like me be asleep now?" She raised her eyebrows as Nokomi took a huge swig of the licuor she'd just ordered. "My oh my, someone drinks the hard stuff. I steal things for my kicks, acohol just dulls the senses." she paused as she mulled over a decision. "Then again, I'm not taking anything right now." She grabbed the bottle and tried to match Nokomi's swig. She hardly managed and put the bottle down with a little gasp and winced eyes. The effects were almost instant, and Loki's small body was put on trial. She actually didn't drink because she couldn't handle much of it before she was going into her form drunkenness. Loki had been told she becomes emotional and horribly affectionate, but she'd never remembered for herself. Whatever she did, the effects would be seen very soon. Loki couldn't longer tell but some sort of speech impediment had already taken hold. "Ya know, you and Zai are my besht friends. An I mean that, like really." Loki had a lazy grin and her head swayed a bit.

| Nokomi watched as Loki took one swig and already started acting like it was her second bottle. With a small smile, she took the bottle back and took another long, big swig of the stuff. It burned a little going down, but that was the way she liked it. When Loki started going on about how she and Zai were her best friends, she only sort of grimaced, but didn't respond. No need to.
She simply watched Loki carefully, knowing that the woman's small frame would quickly become more intoxicated than hers, as she was of bigger frame, had larger muscles, and was taller. She took another drink, her mind slowly becoming fuzzier and fuzzier. Well, perhaps she'd be able to sleep after a few more bottles of this.

The drinking had continued and Loki had just downed her third swig. She looked around the bar and noticed how sad and boring everyone looked. The old dusty chairs held old dusty people. Some bards who had been playing music looked and sounded like they were about to give up. The music was somber and slow. Loki drunkenly decided she wanted to lighten the mood a little bit. She got up on the table and started doing some sort of drunken sway. "Hey! Hey everyone! Hey! Come dance wi' me!" she yelled across the room. Everyone looked up and few of men smiled or laughed, but everyone refused to dance. "Come on you shorry bunsh," she took another swig, "Let'sh party!" She put the bottle on the table and sputtered a little bit. Loki's dancing became off-kilter and frankly ridiculous, but she had enticed some of the drunker patrons to get up and dance. Music was being provided by the same bards who'd been trying to get some tips all night. They probably wouldn't have trouble now. The beat became quicker, and by now at least half the bar was dancing. Loki giggled and fell off the table. She got up and started dancing some more.

| Nokomi literally facepalmed as Loki stood up and danced. Trying to make herself seem as small as possible in the place, she slid down in her chair until she was barely visible, holding onto her bottle tightly. She took another swig, hoping that no one would see her, because the fact of the matter was, she normally wouldn't be caught dead with someone like Loki. Ever.
She merely kept an eye on her, as she knew that if the woman got hurt, it'd be her fault. When she fell off of the table, she almost stood to help her, but Loki merely got up with a grin and continued dancing. Nokomi closed her eyes tightly, sighing to herself and silently wishing she'd just stayed in her room. This was the most embarrassing thing she'd ever had to endure.

A hand found itself on Nokomi's shoulder. One that was boney, but unusually soft to the touch. The grip was almost nonexistent. It was Zai, his ragged cloak barely covering his mostly bare torso as he stood behind Nokomi. It wasn't terribly clear when he had slipped out of bed into the main floor. One could only assume it was under the cover of the severe ruckus Loki was brewing into the room.
He had honestly been awakened by said bustling, and much to his surprise: Anaja hadn't. not to mention he was in his senses enough after some rest to realize she had been laying with him since he'd passed out. Either way he had slipped out of bed so as not to wake her, threw on his cloak and shoes and investigated what in the blazes was going on. Loki, of course, was at the center of it all.
"I've known her but a day, and already this is by far so predictable." He removed his hand as quickly as it had found itself there and he sat next to his acquaintance. He sat there in silence for a moment, looking to Loki as she danced in a drunken stupor, a nearly full bottle in her hand. A light drinker, then. Zai almost found this comical, but then again he was an acoholic himself, able to drink even some sturdier men under a table. Only the strongest of acohols got him deeply drunk, or just downing a whole lot real quick.
Zai's icy half-gaze found itself back on Nokomi. She was entirely embarrassed at Loki's antics. He laughed lightly, but not so greatly as to bring pain from his wound. "Don't worry. Everybody here is too drunk to even make the correlation that she was drinking with you, much less that you two have any association," he japed, motioning for the barmaid to bring him a drink. She did so quickly, not giving the shirtless mercenary a second glance.
His shirt was misplaced due to his inability to apply the complex Kiyoshi garbs in the dark. Such was a perplexing task, and it was simple to just toss on his cloak, even if it meant showing the athletic tone and numerous scars, cuts and burns on his torso. None nearly so bad as the scar beneath his headwrap, but either way he didn't seem to care so long as he had pants. Fortunately he did and had no intention of changing that fact.

Loki stumbled into some man who caught her and then picked her back up. "Thanksh man. You-you know...you're a real pal." The next swig ran down Loki's throat, and she danced across the room. She caught a blurred rainbow colored vision of Zai and so she stumbled in that direction. Her stomach ran right into the table at a pretty high velocity, but she didn't seem to notice really. "H-he-hey Zai, my man, whatchu...whatchu doin' here? I haven't sheen you shince...shince...uhh...I haven't sheen you. How are ya?" Loki giggled and drank some more. She was to the point where she would no longer be able to moderate her drinking. The night, or the next morning for that matter, would not end well. She had been looking across the room at seemingly nothing, but she quickly flicked her head at her friends and shouted, "Hey gusy! Why don't...why you dance, huh? It'sh fun. Fun for everyone. You, you, even you." She started dancing again, her sway going much further than it normally would. Her steps were uneasy, but it looked like she was having fun. She smiled lazily.

| She jumped when a hand touched her shoulder, but as she whipped her head back to see who it was, she found it was only Zai. With a sigh of relief, she realized that she was rather jumpy. She chuckled at Zai's comment about Loki, and took another swig. Drowning her troubles away in a bottle...well, she'd never been one to do it, but she did feel a bit less grumpy and tired.
She noticed that Zai was without his regular Kyoshi shirt, but knew that this was simply because he was probably too tired to put the item on properly. His numerous scars brought about a few questions, but as she was about to ask them, Loki came over with the silliest display of drunken-ness she'd ever seen, and she laughed. Zai was right, no one would guess that she and Loki were associated in any way at all. This made her feel better, enough to sit up straight in her seat and laugh at Loki's drunken sway.

| Hakota-Zai

Hakota watched as Nokomi jumped, but he succeeded in calming her previous reclusion and embarrassment. Loki's antics, after all, were far too hilarious to waste away without a laugh.
Zai found he too was laughing at the scene before them, and the drunk Loki urging them to dance with her. Even the idea of it brought a grin to Zai's lips. Might have even been a genuine hint of a smile somewhere in it.
It was strange, still, that he had felt something of a friendship with his new companions. He leaned back in his chair, but noted Loki's decent deeper and deeper into the endless cycle Zai was all too familiar with. So he did what clever he could, and he ordered water with his drink, and nearly downed all but a couple swigs of the acohol. It might surprise some who didn't know Zai's drinking habits, how he could so easily down and stomach near a full bottle without so much as a blink, but he did so and quickly filled the bottle with water while Loki wasn't looking.
"Hey, Loki. This bit is stronger! I dare you to trade drinks with me," he said, swirling the liquid in the bottle around challenging Loki. It was filled with just enough acohol to fool a drunk into thinking it was the real deal, asides Loki being so deep it seemed she'd believe anything anyways. Zai only wished to stim her regrets for the marrow to follow.
He turned back to Nokomi, eying her a moment as he pondered a question. He decided against it and instead chose to ask if she might be willing to speak of it on her own accord. "I don't suppose you'd like to talk about what happened earlier, huh?"
He wished to be serious, but such was so difficult with Loki swaying and dancing about in her stupor still, and so many others doing similar. This was among the few environments he might feel comfortable. Now that he had Nokomi feeling -at least a little- more at ease, he hoped it'd do similar for her. But he thought himself too hopeful; this was his environment, drinking and hiding away while those about were too drunk to really care about him --it was perhaps the only environment he himself might open up in, yet he doubted Nokomi would share such a trait with the vagrant, alcohoic mercenary that was Hakota.

Loki happily took the bottle from Hakota and said, "Thanksh Zai. You're a really pal." She grinned and drank some of the heavily diluted alkeyhol. She could no longer tell the difference. Zai's trick had worked quite well. Loki continued her dancing, unaware of the serious conversation in front of her. She saw somebody who sort of looked attractive in her drunken stupor, and so she stumbled over to him.
"Hey there you. You look...you look good man. You, me, dancing? How 'bout that?" The man smiled, nearly as drunk as Loki and they both began the stumbling dance that the bar seemed to be full of.

| Nokomi
| Noko chuckled as Zai tricked Loki into taking the extremely diluted drink. She then held back a giggle as Loki asked a stranger if he'd like to dance. She took a long drink of the acohol, watching the stranger Loki was dancing with warily. She didn't trust most males. They were too...selfish. Didn't care about others.
"I don't suppose you'd like to talk about what happened earlier, huh?" Zai broke into her thoughts, and she automatically snorted. Talk about herself? In an open place like this? She then took a look around, realizing that the dancing fools were far too intoxicated to pay her conversation with Zai any mind. It didn't make her feel safer in any way, but at the same time, she knew she didn't have to watch her back...quite as much. "Well.....I don't mind talkin' about things...but I dunno if thare's much to talk about," she said, her words a little funny, but not nearly as slurred as Loki's. Her bottle was now halfway empty...halfway full? Either way, there wouldn't be any left very soon at the rate she was going. She looked Zai in his good eye...and did something she never did. She spoke without thinking the words through.
"What happened thare?" she said, quieter than before, automatically realizing that it was most likely a sore subject. As she asked, her hand reached up near the cloth that covered half of his face, but she quickly pulled it back and took a long swig of drink to try and cover her unbidden stupidity. She prayed that Zai hadn't noticed, she felt rather bad for asking. Learning about others wasn't something she did, because if she asked questions, it gave others the right to ask ones about her in turn. Mentally kicking herself, she held her breathe as she partially hid her face behind a hand of hers, cheeks warm with color at her embarrassment--and with the drink, of course.

Loki had fallen for his ruse. Good, too, given it'd remove much regret and pain the next morning. She did, though, run off and begin to dance with a strange drunk, the two doing little more that swaying and erratic motions-- likely in their minds they thought they were pulling off some awesome steps. But he found comedy enough laugh at this, too.
As for his question, Nokomi seemed unwilling to talk, as he'd generally come to expect. He shrugged it off, and ordered a new drink, the barmaid quickly bringing him the strong fluid he'd had before. He noticed Nokomi was not only beginning to feel the heavier effects of drinking, but also seemed to have a question on her mind promptly before asking it.
"What happened thare," she asked and immediately Zai saw she regretted her own words. She hid her face -blushed from embarrassment and acohol- behind her drink. He only chuckled at this; he often shirked off the question, as it was asked quite often. He had, though, asked something of her arguably more personal. So he decided why not grant proper answers.
"Well.. You'd be surprised how often others ask," he started, thinking about how to pose the answer. "Unfortunately I can't say that it was some grave battle wound I lived through. But I'll just say the day my sister discovered she was an earthbender was the day I lost my eye. We were very young." He made a dismissive motion with his hand and a shrug. It seemed he busied himself now with watching Loki's antics again as he seemed to ponder something.
He took a large swig of his new drink, sighing pleasantly as the burning acohol flowed down his throat. "I guess we both have some sibling issues, huh?" He gave her a friendly grin, but there was something empty about it.
